I bought this for my 5 year old and I think it is fantastic! My son watches his older brothers put lego together and wants to join in but finds the instructions too complicated with the sets they play with. I bought another lego juniors set a while ago for him and loved the simplicity of the instructions and pieces - this set is no different. For example the front wall of the castle is one piece and although there are some smaller pieces I add on it is a good point to start at as it is the same as his older brothers (ie isn't Duplo bricks) but is made a bit simpler. The pictures in the instructions are more detailed and larger. It also avoids putting more than a few pieces on at a time.I researched this set before hand and found that it came with the castle, gatehouse, catapult and the mini figures but also comes with 3 bags of bricks. The extra bricks are great - although the majority are smaller bricks there is a variety of shape and size , ie some sloping, some circular. I find that most lego sets today will give a user enough pieces to make an item but nothing more and what I like about the extra bricks is that it encourages the user to use their imagination and make something on their own. Also the box is quite sizable and can be reused to store lego in. I was surprised when I opened the box that everything included nearly came to the top of the box - which is very unlike many lego sets which seem all box. There were 7 bags an two instructions packs, but I was impressed with the volume of lego considering the price (I got it for £29.99). My son loves it and he had enjoyed putting it all together and loves all the extra - I don't think this is ideal for older users who are used to the more complicated instructions, but is great for those just starting with lego. Great way to encourage using your imagination and overall lego is so classic and such good quality - we've found our older boys love it for years and years and now our youngest is starting. I would highly recommend if you're looking for a set ideal for a beginner - but old enough not to put it in their mouths!

Bought as a 4th birthday giftAs with all lego a sound piece of kit. Bear in mind this is a build ans rebuild set so pieces are interchangeable. We spent some time trying to find the chassis for the King's carriage before realising that it had already been used for the catapult carriage.Comes is a practical sturdy plastc storage box which is always a plus for me.Clear instructions made it an enjoyable build for our 4 year old birthday boy

My 5 year old got this for his birthday, hes been after his older brothers lego for a while and hasn't been allowed to touch, so his very happy to have his own, it was easy enough to put together and is sturdy once up, the box is great as storage too. Very impressed.

Knights Castle was not really what I expected, we could not build couple of towers as there was not enough details. So we could build only one tower or other piece of building. Although there is a lot of pieces, in my opinion it should cost a little bit less.

Excellent value as it has four figures in it and a horse which my nephew loved. A bit too fiddly for a three year old but we had fun making it together. The horse and carriage was a big hit- and it converts to a trebuchet. Lots of fun and great value.

Ordered for my 4 year old grandson, he absolutely loved it, his favourite toy for Christmas. Ordered it only days before Christmas came packaged very well. I was delighted, the lego did not disappoint, and it had its own box to store pieces.

Excellent lego set. My son thoroughly enjoys building and rebuilding this. Also great that you have instructions for other things you can make which keeps it varied. Also the box doubles up as very handy storage! All in all a great purchase

Love it. Perfect for my grandson and when he has finished playing, it all packs away into its own box. Great value as lego always is, hours of endless fun and imaginative use. Recommend this.

Excellent toy, my son loves it. Bonus points for being able to get it delivered to Portugal where we were on holiday for my sons birthday and it arrived next day delivery. Fantastic :-D

Granny and Gramps bought this for my 5 year old son. Its a great set, with lots of extra lego bricks included as well as the storage box itself. Great value for money in my opinion

Good value for money! My grandson was so pleased to receive it and enjoyed making it! The plastic box was very useful to keep the Lego in after use! Good storage.

Brilliant set but you have to break some of it to build new bits which my four year old is struggling with, so still yet to open three of the bags....

Good price and quick delivery. Quite fiddly for a 4 year old but am sure he'll get the knack. Of course can't fault Lego's quality.
