My daughter and I first spotted the Lego games in our local Target a while back. Ever since, I've been eager to get one, so we waited for this game with great anticipation. I'm very happy to say that it does not disappoint.Like books, games for children can be pretty taxing and less than thrilling for adults. I shudder to think of my daughter's Chutes and Ladders days. I'm always a little worried when we get a new game, because I want it to be a fun experience for the whole family, and that's exactly what Magikus is. When you first open the box, it contains a rule book for the game and an instruction book for assembling the game "board", plus all of the little Lego pieces you'll need for the assembly (and a couple extra). My husband has loved Legos ever since he was a kid, so he loved putting the game set together. It was a nice activity for him and my daughter. The assembly isn't all that complicated, but she's six, and I'm not sure it was something she could have handled on her own. At any rate, putting the game together is part of the fun of the experience.Once the game is assembled, play can begin. The object is to get the four components you need in order to create the spell and win the game. Gameplay is fast-paced and this is a quick game, which makes it nice for squeezing a quick session in before or after dinner. My daughter really likes the customizable die, and has fun taking it apart and putting it back together in a new configuration. The die makes me marvel at Lego's ability to come up with fun, innovative products. We began with the basic rule set and then expanded into other rule sets as we got a hang of the game. Changing the rules up helps keep the game fresh and just makes the product even more fun. Our current favorite is the "secret spell" alternate rule. The next step will be to try to cook up our own rules for the game. This is a really fun product that I would highly recommend.

We bought this for our kids this Christmas. It had very simple instructions for building the rack, which came out to be a lot smaller than we thought. The game is very easy to play that even our 3-year-old can play with us with just a little guidance. I like that the game starts out very simple, but you can change the game however you want to accomodate the different skill levels of the players. We keep it very simple for the little ones and then add the more challenging rules for the adults and older kids.Fun little game, especially for the price.

This game is for kids. That being said, the design is cute, with room for creative new rules. Gameplay goes very fast. I find this game great as an ice-breaker (avid tabletop fan here) or as a way to inspire more fun at the local bar. People are usually impressed that LEGO makes/made games, and generally enjoy & respect this little set. Magikus is a great alt to Go Fish, lol. I've no experience with playing this with kids, but I enjoy it as an adult and look forward to sharing it with any kids I may raise.

I'll admit, I love this game because it's super easy to play and I don't have to put much thought into it while still interacting with my son. All you other busy parents can relate, right?! My six year old enjoys playing it. We like to get creative when it comes to the winner brewing the potion by naming our potion and describing what it would do. Fun, easy game and you just can't go wrong with a LEGO product!

This was the first Lego game I purchased. The kids had a blast with it. It is simple enough for a 5 year old but you can change the game play a bit to make it a little more challenging for older kids as well. The best part is the older kids can play with the younger ones w/o being bored.

My friend's son who is about 10 years old requested Legos for Christmas and so after picking up Lego Monsters for my own nephew, I selected Magikus. He was so excited when he saw the Lego name and right then and there asked his friend to play a game. He/they really enjoyed it.

My son asked for this game for his birthday. Once he opened it, he disappeared for a while into his room to explore it and then invited his sister in to play. I heard happy sounds for more than an hour! It is frequently the first game off the shelf once homework is complete.

Both my boys ( ages 4 and 5) love it. My year old put the game together by himself and they both understood the rules quickly. They both think it is super cool because it is "lego" I love that they can play by themselves and I actually don't mind playing either.

Our kids (ages 10 and 7) really liked this one. It's fun and fast, very easy to learn and set up, and even a year later they still want to play!

We are a Lego family. We have many Lego games & sets to assemble. The 20 yr old & 6 yr old do them together.

This is a fun game. We don't play it as much as a few other LEGO games like Minotaurus, but it is still fun.
