Lego produced it's first building bricks called 'Automatic Binding Bricks' in 1949 and has been a firm Baxter family favourite ever since. Mostly aimed at boys Lego has been enjoyed from generation to generation. Now it's the girls turn.My nine year old daughter loves everything that is 'girly' and Lego Friends is the perfect building toy for her.She absolutely adores this range and already has a few sets that she and I (yes, I also enjoy building Lego Friends) have completed and are now displayed on the top of her dresser. So when I was given the opportunity of reviewing Lego Friends 41094 Heartlake Lighthouse I was delighted and so was my daughter. In this Lego set are 473 colourful pieces, the colours chosen for this range helps make Lego more appealing to girls. Colours like white, shades of pink, shades of blue and various accents colours.Lego Friends would appeal to children ages 8 and over.Inside the box you will find individual clear plastic bags containing Lego pieces relevant to a particular part of the set that you will be building. The instruction book is well laid out and gives you step by step instructions in picture format on how to build the part relating to the plastic bag of Lego pieces.Once all the parts have been built then it is simply a matter of putting it all together to form the scene 'Heartlake Lighthouse'.The Heartlake Lighthouse 41094 set includes a two story lighthouse, two mini dolls Kate and Stephanie, a seal, ice cream shop, pier, platform, rowing boat, shop counter, freezer, bathroom, table, stools, ladder and a rock for the seal. Also there are many different accessories to make the lighthouse scene complete. This is a fantastic set and like all of the Lego Friends Sets thoroughly enjoyable to build. My daughter loves the fact that she can spend quite a few days building the set bit by bit and watch the whole scene come to life as it nears completion. My daughter also enjoys this set after completion, making up stories using the characters and props included in the set.Lego Friends has replaced her dolls house as her favourite collection. In fact my daughter is determined to collect all of the Lego Friends Sets, my only problem is ...Where on earth to display them all once built.

Our family are massive Lego fans and with two girls aged 7 and 8, this is a perfect set for my girls (and me) to play with. The centre of the Lego Friends' world is the city of Heartlake and this is the set of the lighthouse, down at the beach which also incorporates an ice-cream shop/parlour in addition to the lighthouse and you also get a boat to sail out into the marina and even a seal with its own little rock for them to sail out to see. The ladies included are Stephanie, one of the main "Friends" as well as Kate. We actually already have a set with these two characters in it, albeit in different outfits - in Stephanie's Beach House - so they are obviously good friends. The set itself,is easy to build, even for children at the lower end of the recommended age spectrum, with little or no adult assistance. My daughters built this together (taking turns in doing a "step" of the instructions whilst I watched them, There were only one or two steps which they asked for help and I think if I hadn't been there, they would have managed to work it out without me if they had gone back a few steps and found their mistake. There are lots of little features which have grabbed my girls' imagination - the little accessories, including a lego money for purchasing the ice-creams/knickerbocker glories, a map, binoculars and camera, which my girls often take out on the boat, as well as the wide range of places within a small area, for the mini-dolls to "star" in the story - whether one of the ladies nips to the loo or mans the lighthouse, or serves some ice-cream, or relaxes by the marina or goes for a row in the boat, or rescues the seal (it seems in our house to be rather accident prone and frequently needs rescuing) - but even with the favourite stories there is always a new aspect to the story. This set compliments other Heartlake sets and indeed other Lego Friends sets or figures - it looks great if you want to leave it set up - my girls have built and rebuilt it a few times already as they love doing the step-by-step building instructions and they also love playing with the set and the characters, inventing stories of what is happening down at the Lighthouse or at the ice-cream parlour today!

The 41094 Lighthouse and Ice Cream Shop has 473 pieces, pink row boat, 2 mini dolls and a brown seal. The mini dolls are:- Kate – dark hair, blue crop top and orange skirt with dark pink shoes;- Stephanie – blonde with green and white stripy t-shirt, purple wrap round skirt and blue flip-flops. She also come with transparent blue sunglasses which can be popped onto the top of her head. There is also an emergency torch and binoculars. There are 4 numbered bags of Lego, a blue base piece, a sticker sheet and 2 instruction books. I recommend using a tray or dish with high sides so you don’t lose any pieces when you empty a bag.The build can take quite a while as there are a number of small bricksand stickers to attach. The light house has white and pink horizontal stripes and a walkway by the light at the top which can hold both mini dolls. This really is quite a nice build. The light house isn’t too tall, but if you put it near the “shopping mall” or “school” it can feel a little small. Since it comes with a “water” or “sea front” feature we have placed it near to the beach house and it looks fine. The ice cream shop is a nice addition to what could have been a plain lighthouse. There are a number of pieces in the box which can be used to interchange on the ice cream cones to make different flavoured ice creams. There is a separate pink rowing boat for the girls to use when they have a little spare time. The seal sits on a small rock build. It isn’t the easiest of builds and will require more than a couple of minutes to put together but when added to the other Heart Lake sets it does look really good.It does come with a number of stickers to attach, both inside and outside.I am really happy with the finished result as part of the Heart Lake display we have. If you don’t want to display it but use it for play I will admit that it has a number of playable aspects connected to both ice cream shop and light house.Younger builders may need some help with this, but if they take their time and follow the guide they should be all right building it (Lego is great for teaching patience and determination).Overall a great addition to the Heart Lake landscape.

This is another brilliant set from the Lego Friends range and is a great standalone set or addition to the other sets. We have had this set for a few months now but this is the first chance I have had to post my review and my children have loved playing with the set.The set comes with a Stephanie figure who is wearing a purple skirt, green and white striped top, flip flops, sunglasses and has her normal blonde hair. The set also comes with a Kate figure who isn't one of the main Lego Friends figures but is one of their friends and she wears a blue and white flower swim top, yellow skirt, flip flops and has a flower in her hair.As normal both figures arms move and they can be put into a sitting position. The set comes in four different numbered bags and the two instruction books take you through step by step to complete the Lighthouse, Rowing Boat and Seal Island. The instructions are nice and easy to follow as with all the Lego sets we have had. The Lighthouse has opening and closing windows, a movable ladder and movable signboard. The Lighthouse features a viewing platform for the figures to look out from the top, a secret room that contains the map, an attic bedroom with lamp and bed, a bathroom with toilet and sink, an Ice cream shop, pier, outside seating, row boat with oars, and Seal Island with a little Seal too.The Lighthouse set measures approx 22cm to the top of the Light, 19cm wide and 14.5cm deep including the whole base piece. The Seal Island measures approx 4.5cm across. The Rowboat measures approx 11cm long by 4cm wide. The Lighthouse set also comes with an Ice Lolly and enough parts to make at least 5 ice creams, till, coin, note, binoculars, treasure map, 3 toiletry bottles, ice cream sign, ice cream structure, lantern and a camera. This is another brilliant set from Lego and as usual the attention to detail and the design itself is excellent. I love the extra little finishing touches such as the climbing flowers on the Lighthouse, striped window awnings and little outside wall lights.

This is an excellent set of Lego as it's great fun to build and also has lots of play value once made. My (nearly) nine year old fell in love with it as soon as she saw it, and enjoyed every single moment of building it. It was a fairly challenging build for an eight year old, though she managed the results you see in my photos in a couple of hours, by herself, with a few small hiccups along the way. I would think a 6 year old would need help, even though the bricks are divided into 4 bags to make it slightly simpler. There are a lot of very small pieces and accessories, which all add to the charm and aesthetics of this lovely set, they include unusual pieces like a map, sunglasses and even money so that you can play shop in the icecream shop which is hidden inside the lighthouse. You get two figures, Kate and Stephanie, to play in the lighthouse or use the outdoor tables, rowing boat, go visit the seal on its tiny island or sit at the outdoor cafe. It's all really very lovely, with lots of hidden nooks and crannies and stacks of detail. My daughter's favourite bit is, apparently, the 3D ice cream sign but, frankly, she loves it all.Although this set is clearly aimed at girls it's not too "pink" and despite it being one of those sets that is a one-construction only, rather than 3 in 1, I think it's really great. It is quite compact when built (that lighthouse is 21cm high) and they have stinted somewhat on the boards by making you put little ones together rather than giving you a large board, but I still can't help but love this toy as much as my daughter does. She loved making it and enjoys playing with it too. Highly recommended.

Any Lego fan or collector will adore this and can mix and match with other sets they may already own.In the box are 4 bags of Lego pieces, the base which acts as the blue sea, a sheet of stickers and instructions booklet.I helped my 9 year old niece to assemble and it took us just over a couple of hours, we needed a little more time to add stickers. The instructions are pretty good but to the untrained eye (like mine) they could prove a little tricky in places. As with other Lego sets this is made to a very high standard and even though it looks quite small when completed it is a very attractive addition to the range.Stephanie and Kate are the figures included, their hands are shaped to hold various items from the set including binoculars, a camera, ice-cream cones and the oars of the boat that comes with it all. The lighthouse is candy striped with a rail along the top where the figures are able to stand and there is a beacon made from clear yellow plastic. The ice-cream parlour looks a little too big beside the lighthouse but hey this is play time so a little imagination is required. Inside there is a counter, freezer filled with lollies and other treats and stools for the figures to sit on. It even includes a loo, for customers use only one would imagine.I think this would make a fantastic gift and for the recommended ages 6-12 it encourages a child to be creative. I love the seal who just sits on a rock near by watching the world go by.It has been a big hit in our family and I would recommend it.

Lego Friends is based in Heartlake City and shares the adventures of 5 friends and this summer themed set sees Stephanie and her friend Kate heading to a lightouse at the beach for ice cream and and a row around the bay seal watching.Including Lego Mini Dolls of Emma and her friend Kate, seal pup on a rock, and a small rowning boat, the lighthouse has 473 peices in four bags and will take a child a couple of hours to construct on their own. There are also 7 stickers but most of these transfer to larger pieces and don't require much help. The Lighthouse is made up of several large peices one on top of another so grows quickly, in it you can find a toilet and sink,a map and bottles and the dolls have 360 views around the top. The Ice cream parlour is dorma style with a bed and ladder at the top and a counter at the base with outdoor seating area. There are a lot of ice cream themed extras including glasses and cones and I love the fact the clip on glasses are made of clear purple plastic. This set compliments the other Lego Friends summer kits such as Stephanie's Beach House, the Hot Air Balloon and Emma as a life guard.

This is a big kit - nearly 500 bits of lego to build a lighthouse, keepers cottage and pier. Except, being lego friends, it's an ice cream parlour rather than a keepers cottage. It's a big kit and was satisfying for my daughter to build and play with. She's quite experienced at Lego and, even though she's 7, was able to build it without any difficulties. They always design things well. The reason I am giving this 4 stars rather than 5 is a simple one - I dislike the Lego Friends brand for being so relentlessly little girly. I love Lego and love the fact it is so good at helping children's imagination and helping them to build things. The products are always well made and the instructions are simply brilliant.I just wish it wasn't all so sexist. I am railing against the tide here - that is the way ot childrens toys, I know. But it's my review so one star off until they are giving girls a much broader range of aspirations with these toys. The product is great though. The price is high - £50 RRP!! The Amazon price is more realistic.

Quite a big set, I would say on the large side within the range. Currently a very good price on Amazon, which makes it good value. Best suited to older children unless you want to help out as it is quite a big project for a young child to build alone. This was of interest to the 11 year old (although really too easy!), very popular with the 8 year old (ideal age I would say), but bit much for the 6 year old to handle alone. Lovely detail within the set - we always love having a toilet (lols - but the kids seriously do love them!) and it's always popular with my girls when the sets include an animal - which this does. Also includes two dolls and a boat.I love the quality of Lego and I think this range combines a fairly complex building task with a fantastic building to add to the Lego world. Although I would have preferred the lighthouse to be red and white (we're all sick of pink! Don't Lego know that by about 8, lots of girls think 'pink stinks!') - it's great to have a non 'girly' building!

Lego is the bestselling toy in the world I believe and my 6 year old granddaughter loves it as much as my now adult sons did when they were kids. The difference is that where they only had bricks and their imagination Lego now make an ever-expanding range of themed sets and this is reflected in their prices.I recently bought the Frozen set for my granddaughter for her birthday and it was the same price as this set. Whilst I appreciate that Lego probably has to pay a licensing fee to Disney I feel that this set provides far greater value for money.Obviously aimed at little girls the set provides two girl figures dressed for the beach and a friendly seal to enjoy adventures at the light house and ice cream shop on the beach. Also included is a pink rowboat for the girls to visit the little seal on his rock. There are those who will criticise Lego for making it so girly and pink but they will be hard pressed to find a little girl who doesn't love this.

My daughter and I have had so much fun building this set today, in fact I'm not entirely sure which of us has enjoyed it the most!!Fabulous pink and white candy striped lighthouse with rooms inside including a toilet!! And balcony around the top. There's even a telescope to look out to see with! Out the front there's an ice-cream parlour with a decked seating area above the sea baseplate, there's a pink row-boat and even a super-cute seal on a rock. You get two Friends Figures, Stephanie and Kate, both dressed in summery outfits with sandals/flip flopsThe sheer amount of details you get in these sets is an absolute delight and whilst I lament the fact that they weren't around when I was growing up,I'm certainly making up for it now.If you have or know a young girl, buy her this. And if you know an older person who is young at heart, BUY THEM THIS!!

Another Lego Friends product and yet another that has been enjoyed almost as much by me in the construction than in the play my daughters have had with it. The eldest of my children loves building lego products but found this one (at 5 years of age) the toughest of the sets she has encountered (and we have many!). However, she embraced the challenge and when built I certainly think it helps her appreciate it all the more when she plays with it. This set is rather nice and I particularly like the ice cream 'sign' that sits outside the shop. I think this is about right in terms of price also so a good value set which is impressive when its finished. It presents a nice challenge and is another thumbs up from this house,a lovely lego set.

I bought the Lego friends lighthouse for my daughter's ninth birthday. It comes in a good size box which is very important when you're nine! We settled down to build it together and had completed it in an afternoon. It looks lovely when built if a little smaller than I expected. It has some lovely extras, we particularly liked the seal and the giant ice cream. The instructions were clear and straightforward as you'd expect from Lego. I asked my daughter if there's anything that could be improved, she says she was disappointed that the lighthouse doesn't actually light up but that it is still her second favourite Lego set (Cinderella's castle came first!)

Bought for my five-year-old daughter, this kept her happy over a series of weekends as she constructed it herself with minimal input from us. We helped her find the right bits but she followed the instructions and stuck the whole thing together. It was a big undertaking for a young child but she was thrilled with the results - so were we actually and we have the finished article in our kitchen as an ornament. It's expensive but it's Lego - I.e it is well designed and thought out but worth the money because the instructions are carefully produced such that a five-year-old can follow them and it looks great when completed

25.6.2015

This is a fantastic Lego set, which children build into a lighthouse and ice cream parlour. The instructions are set out well and our 5 year old was able to follow them with a little bit of adult support. There is plenty of play value when the set has been built as it comes with two Lego friends. The only downside is that this is a purpose built set and many of the Lego bricks are custom made for the model. This means that there is little scope for children to use their own imagination to build different models. However, my daughter loves this set and I would recommend it to others.
