Lego has changed since I was a kid. Gone is the time when you'd make something very approximate play with it a while then take it apart. Now it is more like a long-term toy that needs to be build first, giving equal amounts of pleasure in the building and in the playing. There's obviously a huge plus in having the lorry and the harvester in a single kit, since it allows for some great role playing and lots of loading and unloading action. Our son, like many others, is obsessed with lorries, so that alone is a winner. The harvester is great too, since it spins it's 'blades' as it rolls, which makes just pushing it around a bit of a thrill, then partially disassembles to go back on the lorry. The build is pretty straight forward. Our 5 year old can get by with a kit like this, with some help understanding the instructions, but didn't make it to the end before getting bored and just wanting the vehicles to play with. Mummy and daddy both love building Lego, so that wasn't a problem. We're starting to recognise the standard parts from the City series of vehicles, which helps speed things up.As ever, this is Lego, so bits tend to come off when playing enthusiastically and need to be put back (sometimes via guesswork if the instructions aren't easily accessible). The only real regret we have is that the harvester is so obviously made to work in conjunction with a tractor trailer (since it has the grain feed coming from the roof), but you can't find any kits with a tractor trailer that haven't been discontinued and become collectors' items! You can maybe borrow a trailer from another kit, if you're lucky, but unless you already have a tractor you're going to be as stuck as us. Then again, 5 year olds don't mind mixing Lego with die cast toys, so that's another option.Anyway, this is a fine kit, especially for lorry and utility vehicles lovers. It isn't huge, which is a plus in our ever more cluttered house and the piece count is reasonable. There are a lot of custom pieces, which some more purist Lego builders might frown at, but the end result is more toy-like because of them.So far we haven't met a Lego City kit we didn't like, and for budding farmers this is a great one!

The facts are that LEGO is damned expensive. But, no one does this kind of thing better and somehow or other they manage to inject a little bit of magic into their products that others simply cannot match. Their stuff appeals from childhood to old age. And I guess that's a winning strategy because if you like this stuff as a parent or grandparent in my case, then you will spend time with the small people in your life making it.And that's important if your child is at the lower recommended age group because a five year old might just about manage this by his or herself, but I doubt it. Too many small bits and the need to grasp 3D concepts. From 6 or 7 on I'm sure more achievable.Anyway,my grandchildren are 5 - a boy and girl - and we sat down to do this together. There were the inevitable squabbles - but my wife told me off and I stopped.... But, in the end we made this set up and had fun doing it.Price is a bit steep but LEGO is superb and of course you can build on one set ad infinitum.Bottom line is that LEGO is the best choice despite the price for construction toys and that's just how it is.

This is a quote from the Lego website, which purchasers are encouraged to consult for instructions:'Help the LEGO® City farmer manage his crops with the 60223 Harvester Transport! This heavy-duty toy transport truck features an opening minifigure cab and a hitch, plus a flatbed truck transport trailer with a holder for the harvester tool and 2 lowering ramps. This fantastic farm toy also features a white, yellow and green toy combine harvester with an opening minifigure cab, removable harvester tool and articulated unloading auger at the back, plus 2 LEGO minifigures and a buildable scarecrow figure.'There are 358 pieces to this set (some are very small - so beware if you have small children/babies around),but is very quick and, with a bit of concentration, easy for a six-year old to manage with minimal help from an adult. Once the kit is put together there are potentially hours of play ahead. We have a lot of 'basic' Lego, ie just the blocks, not part of any themed kit, and the transporter and harvester fitted in nicely.

Medium size LEGO kit featuring a harvester trailer, approx. 3”/8 cm tall x 12”/31 cm long x 2”/7 cm wide, plus a combine harvester, approx. 3”/8 cm tall x 6”/17 cm long x 3”/10 cm wide. There are a total of 358 pieces with each individual part of the build contained in a numbered bag. Instructions are available on paper or online and the construction was quite complicated but not too difficult but; some of the pieces are tiny and adult supervision is required. Once constructed both vehicles are solid and stay together firmly through all manner of rough play. I always like the Lego mini figures and there are three included with the set, scarecrow/farmer/driver, with a few tiny accessories. Both vehicles have opening/moving features which will keep younger children, 5-8 years, amused for hours.

My family love Lego and it appeals to all ages it seems. The youngest ones like all the chunky bits and the easy way they can put something together quite quickly. The older ones love all the details, the doors that open and close, the bits that work like the real thing and the minifigures that come with the sets. This farm set comes with three figures, a farmer wearing a hard hat, a truck driver who looks a bit like Harry Potter and a scarecrow. The transporter goes together fairly easily with not a lot of building involved, but there is pictorial instructions and even online instructions available now. The little harvester goes on the back of the transporter and can be played with separately. This is another lovely set from Lego and one that children will have hours of fun playing with.

Part of the Lego City’s kit, this is a very nice piece of Lego that can be used to build both a harvester, and a lorry to transport it. The harvester has a very nice touch of rotating it’s blades as it’s pushed around, and can be disassembled slightly to be placed on the lorry. This is one of the simpler Lego builds, and is aimed for 5+ years, although 5 year olds are likely to need some help with the instructions, and isn’t too large, so compared to some kits there aren’t as many Lego pieces to keep track of during the build. This is definitely a nice addition to any sets of Lego you already have, although it works best when combined with the other Lego City kits.

This Lego kit is aimed at the 5 years and up age range so with younger children there is definitely a need for an adult to complete the build. With a little assistance of course. It's not particularly difficult to put together so once children are a bit older they should be able to put this together by themselves. The kit includes a harvester and transport truck along with 3 figures if you include the scarecrow. I thought it would have been a good idea to include a few more accessories as there's only a mug and pitchfork but overall I think this kit offers good value for money with plenty of play potential.

Designed for the younger family members (ok, Dad quite liked helping a little as well!), the assembly kept a boy and girl cheerfully occupied for the afternoon. And then there was the playing with the finished set. All in all, this proved excellent value for money and produced toys that are still giving fun days afterwards.Assembly was straight forward although the one small quibble I would have is the reliance on online instructions. Paper would have been better but overall, this is a great kit for those young builders who are at the early stages of Lego building. Easily recommended.

It's a shame the Lego farm theme was discontinued, but here's hoping this might be the start of a new line. Two great vehicles, but the star is the combine harvester which boasts loads of great detail and fits on the trailer well. The truck is a little bland but that doesn't matter, as you're buying this for the combine.Like all £20ish sets it's not fantastic value for money but then, it's lego. It's well worth it for the model selection.

Great fun toy. A low loader transporter with a combine harvester (removeable) on it’s trailer, two mini figures and a buildable scarecrow.Well made and other farm items can be collected. Any child seems to love farm animals and these Lego sets help them to understand some of the other aspects of farming

This is a great little lego set good to assemble with the kids as some of the parts are a little small and the only downside is some of the figures seem a bit delicate likely to break/get lost but otherwise this is a really nice addition to lego and really helps getting little minds thinking.

Lovely Lego kit of farmyard vehicles - a transporter truck that carries a combine and has a couple of farm people and a scarecrow. Up to usual standard of durability and easy to assemble using the directions supplied ; my 7 year old niece managed it well and loves it .

Purchased as a present. The boy who received it, was 6 and it was his first taste of Lego and he loved itThere’s enough in it to make it a challenging build and enough vehicles etc to make it a good “toy” at the end

Up to Lego's usual high standard. This set is bigger than expected and comes with a low loader and harvester, plus two figures. More sets can be added to give even more fun. Great set.

Got this for £16 on Amazon, which is a bargain. My son loved it and we spent most of the Sunday afternoon building it. Great value for money and arrived fast.
