Thanks to this machine we're now enjoying some excellent smooth creamy mash. Its really easy to use and all parts of it can be put in the dishwasher. Cook your potato in say 30mm pieces, choose the size of grater you want (medium or larger are OK), drain the potato and then spoon into machine which sits on top of your already warm cooking pan. If you've cooked lots you'll need to mash in batches. But the potato stays hot as you can mash really quickly just by turning the handle clockwise. Easy to use if you've got bad joints as the movement is easy to turn. Only tricky bit is the push down on the central spring clip which keeps the 'mincing' pressure on the bottom plate and with this you just need to push down in the middle.

This food mill is excellent and at a much lower cost than its rivals. It is easy to put together, easy to load with cooked/roasted tomatoes and produces a sauce without skins which is perfect as the base for so many Italian dishes. It is easy to dismantle for washing either in a dishwasher or sink. I can imagine it being useful for making baby food and puree. I recommend it.
