I'm not going to repeat everything others have said about the Karcher FC5. It is a generally excellent product that will leave your hard flooring clean. However, there are a few things that I feel it is important for potential buyers to be aware of. These don't change the fact I would purchase the product again, or that I think it is probably the best floor-cleaner out there, but they are small points that might be big factors for some buyers.Firstly, I'm at a loss as to why Karcher have given the cleaner only a 5m power cord. It should be at least 6, more like 7 metres in length. Once you start cleaning, navigating around items, you find that you're going to be swapping power sockets a little too often or using an extension lead all the time.Secondly, the clean water container is too small. I believe it should be at least 50% larger in size. Before you know it, you're refilling it (and rather bizarrely the dirty water container is significantly larger).I think the water suction (sucking the water off the rollers) could be slightly stronger. It is good, but please don't think that the FC5 will leave your floors completely dry - it doesn't and they'll need 5 minutes or so to dry after use. I think a marginally better level of suction could improve this. The rollers require cleaning after each use and you'll be amazed how much dirt they pick up. However, I would strongly recommend that you buy at least one spare set of rollers. I don't think they'll last very long and over-washing can lead to the micro-fibres of them failing to perform as they're intended to.The instructions are awful. Karcher need to develop a better manual/quick-start leaflet. They're possibly the worst of any major product I've bought over the last year. The Karcher cleaning fluid is very good. We were surprised at just how streak-free it left the floors (porcelain tiles and hardwood flooring). We've bought some to add to the tiny bottle of fluid they provide with the FC5, but the good news is that very little is required per refill of clean-water.Finally, the angle at which the cleaner operates could be improved on. If you try pushing it underneath something such as a sofa, you'll find it won't go very far because the way in which it sucks water from the rollers means that it has a limited angle of play. If you think you'll be able to use it in almost flat-to-floor style, think again. You won't get it to work at anything like that angle. This all sounds rather negative, doesn't it?It isn't. It is a superb floor-cleaner that has massively sped up our task in a large house.

First impressions of the Karcher FC5 are as expected from a brand like Karcher (owner of other products of that brand): robust and effective products. The unboxing and setup could not be any simpler. The cleaner comes almost fully assembled, the only thing you need to do is clip the handle onto the main body. You are then ready to go!The device feels really robust and is well balanced. For testing purpose, I have decided to first give it a go in the kitchen. To push the test a bit further, I intentionally dropped tea, curry, and tomato sauce onto the tiles and let it dry for half a day. I also added bread crumbs and other small rubbish. The handling of the cleaner is natural and is easy to manage, with its reasonable weight. The first time you turn it on, you get that slight surprise when the cleaner wants to move forward on its own but you quickly get used to it.I was pretty impressed with the end results. The FC5 hoovered all the bits that were present on the floor, even those that were on the edges of the skirting boards. Also, the FC5 took care well of the stains I made. The floor felt really clean and it was an effortless and quick action. The floor dried up pretty quick in comparison to our SC2. That being said, I'm still indecisive on whether or not the lack of steam has an important impact on the cleanliness of the floor, as the floor felt clean but the water coming from the FC5 is cold.Although I couldn't notice much water on the floor, at this point, I'm still a bit reluctant to try it on our laminate floor.Overall, my first experience with the FC5 was really good and Karcher delivered on their promises.Being the parent of a newborn, I appreciated the time saving feature of being able to do both actions at once.I also like the fact that the FC5 is coming with a On/Off button as this is in my opinion missing from the SC2.Being an owner of a cordless vaccums, I have to admit I'm not a big fan of having to fussle with the cord tho. It's just a nice feeling when you can just pick your device up and just press the on button. It makes you want to use it more.Update:After some days of use, the overall impression remains good and the product is definitely well made, dries quick, and is easy to clean. I found that sometimes the crumbs get thrown in the air by the roller instead of being sucked in. Also, fluff can stick a bit on the floor once wet.Pretty good product overall but not 100% sure it justifies the price tag & I'm a fan of gadgets [This review was collected as part of a promotion.]

I was over the moon to be chosen to test the Karcher FC5, having most of the floors, especially the ground floor of our house with hard floors and finding the whole business of vacuuming first before mopping to clean them an absolute chore. The large box duly arrived and I looked forward to giving it a trial..Assembling was easy and setting it up for use was child's play. The quick instructions were clear and the water container was easy to take off. I decided to put warm tap water in the tank with a few drops of the detergent and agitate slightly to mix. I think the detergent bottle should come with a small nozzle as putting in a few drops was not easy. I liked the stand,a simple idea which works and makes the appliance easy to store, plus easy to fill with water and rotate the rollers in ready for use.First impression: streamlined so takes up little room, good cord length which is easy to coil, very solid and sturdy, basically a smart piece of kit in the Karcher colours.Using it was easy-peasy as the motor pulls it along and the weight/suction keeps it in constant contact to the floor, great cleaning power. The on/off button was very stiff and I didn't realise that if you pressed it hard, it would stay on. Of course once I discovered this half-way through doing the kitchen floor which is ceramic tiled the job became even easier. The rollers didn't quite go up as close to the edges or if they did, they didn't get the floor as clean there. I also noticed that if I went horizontally across the floor the rollers caught on the grout lines or uneven tiles so it was obviously best to follow the line of the ceramic planks and grout lines.Cord length was good and I did the whole of the kitchen using about a third of the clean water.Another good test was our cat has a habit of taking her food from her bowl and eating it off the floor, so there is a often a congealed mess of cat food left behind where she has finished which normally needs a good scrub to remove, It took about 5 seconds of going over it back and forth to clear it completely with no sticky residue left behind.Total drying time was more like 8 minutes, this was with the kitchen being warm and sunny.I also did the white tissue paper test which because I keep the floor relatively clean, didn't show up much difference, however emptying the dirty water container was a revelation. Absolutely brilliant, finding out that what the Karcher FC5 is doing is cleaning up the dirt you CANNOT see! [This review was collected as part of a promotion.]

Living in a busy household with dogs, horses and children the floors in our house see almost commercial use on a daily basis so an all-in-one machine sounded almost like a miracle. We tested the FC5 on a combination of hard floors including tiles, engineered oak & traditional floor boards. The assembly was simple, and once assembled it has its own parking stand which also provides the priming and cleaning of the rollers. The FC5 doesn’t require much more room than the traditional mop.Putting the FC5 to use straight away by filling the container with water and then the detergent, very small amount surprisingly. Priming of the rollers is very easy, just a small cup of water into the stand and then run the rollers for a short while.I didn’t sweep first nor did I pre-soak any part of the floor before I put the FC5 on the floor and pushed the button. The rollers will automatically make the machine move forward so the only action is a sweeping action which can easily be done with one hand. You will notice the residue left on the floor is almost nothing and the floor was drying in front of my eyes. Once finished cleaning you simply park the FC5 back in its stand and clean the rollers by adding a little more water and running the machine for a short while. To empty the container on the back of the machine just unclip and pour away.I have to say what came out of the machine was something else. It had picked up virtually everything it had come across.Following the clean there were some areas of stubborn stains which had not been removed completely and as I said earlier I didn’t pre-soak any of these areas which I would normally do. Wanting to put the machine to a further test we took it to a client’s house where we had been working in the void under the floor causing a significant amount of dust.Traditional floor boards painted black so you can imagine how well the dust shows up. Once we had completed the works we cleaned the floor using wet towels mopping and rinsing leaving a shiny floor whilst wet. Once dry the floor was almost grey with the film of smeared dust, not ideal.Using the FC5 the result was excellent and whilst we did not catch all the dust there was no grey film left behind. There are really no bad bits as it does exactly what it says on the box and saves significant amount of time. Leaves floors almost dry and very clean.Overall the FC5 gets an 8 out of 10 and I will be continuing to use it both at home and at work. [This review was collected as part of a promotion.]

Before I give you my review I must highlight that I didn’t initially read the manual as I am a typical bloke. The following is how I got on:1) From out of box the cleaner is supplied in two parts, handle and main body of cleaner. The handle simply slides into the main housing of the cleaner (push fit) and clicks into place. I initially thought the supply cable connecting the two parts together may become trapped, yet there is grove in the housing that prevents this happening.2) On the front of the cleaner is a holder for the water/cleaning solution mix. A small handle releases the container to allow it to be filled up via your tap. To refit the container, simply push it back into its original position and then its clips back into the cleaner. The container is almost clear so you can see the water/cleaner solution level. As this stage I did have to check the manual to ensure the cleaning solution was going into the correct container.3) The back of the cleaner holds the dirty water and has a built is removable filter for the solids. This contain is attached via a small handle to release it. Per the clean water container, it can push fitted back into position. The container is almost clear so you can see when it is getting full.4) The brushes can be accessed by removing a top cover above the brushes. You have to press a button on the cover then pull the cover away for the brushes. I must admit I found removing and refitting this part quite difficult and it took a few tries to get it to fit correctly back into position. So far I have not needed to remove this cover during use, so I believe it will on be need if the brushes wear out or there is a blockage in the cleaning fluid.5) The cleaner is supplied with a black plastic base. This allows it to be stored upright without falling over. It take a little bit of practice to get them to fit together correctly but this will improve as I use it more.Performance:Using the cleaner was simple, pressing a button on the handle makes automatically runs, so there is no need to continually hold a button. To stop the cleaner, simply press the button again, easy.We have a laminate floor in our kitchen and with two small children so it soon becomes dirty. I was initially concerned by the small amount of water left after the cleaner, however this is a floor cleaner after all. The residue soon dried up and result are very good and is even more impressive when I saw the colour of the dirty water in container!Overall 9.5/10 rating

I have different type of hard floors. Light coloured laminate floor in the kitchen, solid oak floor in the living room, hard wood in the hall and vinyl flooring in the bathroom. I normally spend 2 hours a week hover the floors, mop, then remove the residue water with a Kärcher window vacuum. Kärcher’s FC5 promises to wash, scrub, polish and vacuum as it goes. It sounds like a dream machine which can make floor cleaning less cumbersome and even enjoyable. It come nearly fully assembled. All I need to do is to slide the handle into the body and it is ready to roll. The cable is fairly long (~7 meters) and can easily cover a very large room. There is also a nice stand to keep the FC5 upright which is very handy.Like all Kärcher product, it’s very yellow and feels very solid and well built. Kärcher FC5 is very straight forward to use. It’s a bit heavy (5kg with clean water tank full) but once it is going it is easy to move around and the pivoting head does make life slightly easier. It can be used with clean water or any hard-floor cleaning solution made for machine cleaners. Karcher offers a range of solutions that cover all kind of floors. With twin forward-rotating fleece rollers and powerful suction behind, the FC5 glides over surfaces with no effort at all. It also cleans up to edges. The rollers draw clean water from the tank and rotates to collect dust while moistening and scrubbing the floor. Fleece on rollers do not get to dirty to continue cleaning like others do and need replacing. They almost clean themselves. If you want to, they can be easily twist off and are machine washable. It cleans hard floors with enthusiasm, removing loose debris and even the worst dried-on stains, then buffs sealed laminates to perfection. The results are fantastic. I don’t think my floors have ever been this clean. Even after I have just cleaned my floors with mop and feel they are in a reasonable state of cleanliness, the colour of the waste water tank tells me that this have been an illusion. As it does not soak the floor like a mop (only moist), any remaining surface water soon dries leaving a streak free finish. Residual water was something of concern for my sealed solid oak flooring especially in wet England winter but the FC5 doesn't leave much residual water. Now it takes me around 30 minutes to clean the house Final thoughtA fantastic all-round hard-floor cleaner that produce fabulous result. Highly recommended. [This review was collected as part of a promotion.]

I'm lazy. There, I said it. It's not something that I'm proud of, but it's who I am. Therefore, anything that saves me a bit of effort is welcomed with open arms. However, I'm also very sceptical of marketing claims, so it was with some trepidation that I unpacked the Karcher FC5.The main appeal of the Karcher for me was the ability to sweep and mop in one go, without having to lug a bucket about or wringing dirty water out of a mop.Assembly was reasonably easy, but I wasn't a fan of the pictogram type of instructions. I'd prefer some words to make things clearer.Once assembled it took seconds to fill the clean water tank, add a bit of water to the stand and wet the rollers.I've just had an extension built which includes 30 sq m of Camaro luxury vinyl and the dust is still in the air from the building work which means the flooring needs regular cleaning. On top of this we have two children aged 5 and 1 who also do a great job of keeping the place untidy.None of this proved to be a problem; the Karcher swept, mopped and dried all 30 sq m in under 15 minutes. The machine was light enough to manoeuvre easily, and has a pivoting head to allow directional movement or to tilt the body of the cleaner when cleaning alongside radiators for example. I found the width of the head to be just about right - small enough to get into narrow areas, but big enough to get the job done quickly.Once finished, the clean water tank was still about 10% full so I would say that is plenty big enough for most households with a couple of average sized hard floors, although homes with many areas to clean will likely need a refill.Cleanup was quick and easy - the dirty water tank popped out and was emptied down the sink. The cleaning ability was evident by the colour of the dirty water but the tank was easily washed with a quick rinse out.I was expecting the floor to be much wetter during cleaning, but was pleasantly surprised by how little water there was and how quickly it dried.Following cleaning I was happy with the results - all dust and debris had been cleaned, leaving the floor in perfect condition.I'm also impressed with the stand - it doesn't look like it should work but it does, providing a neat home for the cleaner when not in use. The ability to machine wash the rollers is an added bonus. All in all, this is a great piece of kit - a bit pricey perhaps, but definitely well thought out and a boon to the lazy. WHAT IT PROMISES?In a nutshell to save you time and to take the pain out of cleaning hard floors. (i) Timing saving by vacuuming and mopping your hard floors at the same time; (ii) Pain saving as it removes the physical elements associated with cleaning a hard floor - no more scrubbingTAKING IT OUT OF THE BOXThe unit is packaged well. Construction consists of one easy step, simply click the handle onto the main unit, that’s it, done! Fully constructed the first thing I noticed was the sturdiness, it feels well made and “solid”. It’s operating instructions are simple and clear, once you've used it once you won't need to refer to them again. Fill the water tank, power on with the single switch, empty the waste tank once you’ve finished cleaning.FIRST IMPRESSIONSIt's a workout - it really does pull you forward. It’s ability to pull you forward demonstrates that this device really does have a strong cleaning action. Equally some people may struggle with it. The pulling forward can be countered somewhat by lowering the handle to the floor a little - generating more contact with the rear of the device and the floor - adding friction to help combat the pull! At first I didn't think the water function was working but then I realised this was the effectiveness of the “wet vacuum” - sucking up all of the water it puts down. Although I’ve not tried it, I imagine it would be good at vacuuming up a spilled drinks etc. Initially I was on the fence about the effectiveness of the vacuum cleaner when dealing with "dry debris", but the more I used it the more confident I got in it's abilities to cope with this. You only need to look at the contents of the waste tank to confirm that. Similarly, looking at the colour of the water in the waste tank instantly tells you it's doing it job - mine was a satisfying dark brown. When it comes to putting the device away it a nice touch that you have the option to clean the rollers in situ on the device or take them off and throw them in the washer.CHALLENGESOnly minor niggles to report, I caught the cord in the rollers a couple of times, more my fault than that of the device. Finally looking at the Karcher website replacement rollers are a little on the expensive side at £19 per set.OVERALLWill I continue to use the device or will it get relegated to the cupboard of unused appliances that have lost their novelty? The answer for me is continue to use, it’s easy and quick to use and is genuinely useful.

I'd really like to know where this product has been on my life. My mop and bucket has now been relegated to the cupboard. Straight out the box one click to set up and you're off. I have two dogs so generally my floors are really dirty. Not anymore! It works like a dream, it's quick to use and quick to clean. My floors and now smear free and the cleanest they ever been. and the best bit is there is no need to hoover first. The kartcher fc5 feels really heavy at first but as soon as you turn it on its light as a feather and glides across the floor, literally by itself, just point it in the right direction! When I first used it I cleaned the rollers in the docking station and put it away in the cupboard I won't do that again! When I went back to get it a week later to do the floors oh the smell yeah I didn't let them dry out. I gave them a good wash and they were good to go. I cleaned all the floors as normal and it took just under 15 minutes almost that time with me moving rugs out the way, It just goes to show how dirty our floors get. The colour of the water says it all to think I've been using a mop for all this time . This time I washed the rollers out and gave them some air to dry no more smells lesson learnt! I was telling my friend about this product and I obviously went on and on and on about it as the next thing I know she's gone out and bought one and she was raving about it as much as I was So it's now two weeks on and I've used it four times. The karcher is good but I still have to hoover first, it will pick up small debris like crumbs and pet hair but not anything bigger. It still does save me time (and energy!) Sadly I think the claims that the floor will dry in two minutes are false. Today I put my stopwatch on and one part of the floor by the back door dried in about 4 minutes, the floor in the room furthest away from the open door dried in about 15 minutes!! (I took the photo at 8m 26 sec and you can still see the floor is wet. Unlike my steam cleaner the takes are simple to fill and empty and install in the machine. Nothing fiddly, no catches to use to secure, just push in and your good to go. To see just how clean it got my floors I wiped with a baby wipe before and after. Very happy with the after result. Would I change my original star rating? No, it leaves my floors so clean even if it takes longer than stated to dry [This review was collected as part of a promotion.]

I have been using the Karcher FC5 Hard Floor Cleaner for a few weeks now so I feel I can now review the product more extensively. The first thing you will notice when unboxing the Karcher FC5 is just how well made it feels, it's not the cheap feeling plastic you usually have on these type of appliances. I mentioned previously that when reading the user manual it can feel like the product will be a bit of a faff to use, however I'm pleased to report that this is not the case after using the appliance a couple of times. It is as simple as pouring clean water (and detergent if you fancy) into the tank and away you go. The great thing about the Karcher FC5 is that it is a 2 in 1 machine that vacuums and mops the floor at the same time.I have found since using this machine that the time it takes to clean my hard floors has dramatically reduced which is a massive bonus if you're short for time or just want to spend less of your free time cleaning. The machine works by using 2 soft rollers that spin once switched on, a benefit of this is that it is an easy machine to manoeuvre as the rollers propel it forward. I would say that on a scale of 1-5 with 1 being the hardest, it is probably a 4 in terms of how easy it is to manoeuvre the machine. The rollers are also very effective at removing debris and grime from the floors, I have illustrated this with a before and after photo of a tissue test I performed. The Karcher FC5 boasts that after cleaning with the machine your floors will be dry within 2 minutes. Whilst I haven't actually timed how long it takes for the floors to dry, it certainly takes much less time than my steam mop did. Once you have finished cleaning the floors all that is needed is to empty the dirty water tank at the rear of the machine. This just clips off with ease and can be poured down the drain and then clipped back on.Regarding maintenance, the rollers just slide off and can be machine or hand washed or you can also pour a small amount of water into the docking station and spin the rollers for a few seconds to clean them. I hope I have covered the important points of the Karcher FC5 and that you will be a little clearer on the features and benefits of the machine. I would absolutely recommend this product to anyone who wants to save time on cleaning their hard floors. [This review was collected as part of a promotion.]

For a few years now both me and my partner have been looking for that ideal floor cleaner. Whether it be the top of the super duper cleaning machine, to the trusty mop. When we first saw the campaign I was skeptical. Karcher has a very high reputation for doing jobs with ease and saving time, but having never used one of their products, this was a little hard to believe.Upon arrival of the cleaner, I couldn't help but notice just how lightweight it seemed. The hesitation sunk in a little more. We opened up the box and were met with the vibrant Karcher yellow colour of the Holy grail of cleaners. Taking only a few minutes to put together we were ready to go.Upon first inspection again we couldn't help but notice how lightweight it was is comparison to others on the market. The instructions provided were easy to follow (which obviously I didn't read being a man,) and guided us through the process of dampening the rollers, ensuring the water and solution mixture were correct and plugging in.Our kitchen was the first to be tested. We have dark slate tiles covering approximately 20ft x10ft. It reached every corner and every edge with ease, and left it clean, smear free and dry within a couple of minutes. Point to Karcher. Now we tested in the bathroom. This room should be used as a test basis for every cleaner. It is bright white tiles from floor to ceiling, and shows every mark going. This was going to put the Karcher through its paces. Again, as per the kitchen, it glided through, cleaning and drying as it went. Now we were surprised. Another point to Karcher. We tried this for a few days, then weeks and are still amazed at just how brilliant this little machine is. Many more points to Karcher. It has saved us plenty of time in comparison to the trusty mop and bucket, and has cut the drying time considerably. Also it saved water used compared to other hard floor cleaners and mop. We found it easy to store, being quite compact. Plus having a stand made it easier to place in the cupboard. To some the price tag may seem steep, but what you get for the money, saves you more in the long run. We couldn't believe this little machine and are still amazed to this day. Karcher have done themselves proud and we will definitely be purchasing more from them. [This review was collected as part of a promotion.]

I already have some of Karcher’s other products (steam mop and window vacuum cleaner) and this is very similar with the usual Karcher fantastic build quality and sturdiness. It’s easy to put together with the handle fitting into place into the main body in seconds. Others have said that they find this heavy but I disagree, in use it is actually a reasonable weight. When it is on the rollers spin and it self propels making it light and easy to use. One thing you do need to watch for is the angle you hold the handle at as it can clip the edge of tiles. The floor head is a fixed size similar to a vacuum so will not fit into tight spaces,in my bathroom it will clean the main floor area but not the gap between the toilet and wall which is disappointing as a standard mop would do this. It has a long cable (7m) which was more than adequate( unlike some similar appliances). The thing I like the most about this is that unlike a standard mop it doesn’t distribute dirty water around and instead recovers this into a tank on the back of the machine. You will be surprised how much dirt you see in the tank and small pieces of debris from the vacuuming action. The fresh water tank you fill with cold water (you can add detergent if you like) is on the front of the machine. The stated drying time of 2 minutes is not accurate; it is at least 5 minutes but still an improvement on traditional mopping as it doesn’t leave anywhere near as much water residue. The FC55 is a dual purpose vacuum and floor mop, in reality I have only used it as a floor mop where I don’t have to vacuum beforehand. You wouldn’t get this out to vacuum only so it doesn’t really replace your vacuum (not that it claims to) meaning you have one more thing to find storage for! I would say the FC5 is good at cleaning hard floors but not great. I was hoping it might clean some stubborn spots but after several passes the spots were still there and needed to be agitated by a sponge to get clean. Therefore I would say that if you use this regularly you would have a clean floor but if your floor has more than light dirt you will also need to manually clean. Bear in mind that you will also have to buy replacement rollers (currently £20 for 2) at some point even though the rollers are machine washable they will wear out over time.

UPDATE: Don’t buy it! Terrible customer service!I had this karcher machine for 3 years! After 6 months of use, the trouble started! The rolls wouldn’t work... call customer service... they told me to pack the machine and send to be repaired! The water would not come on the rolls... call customer service... they tell me again to pack the machine and send to repaired!Long story short... in the last 3 years ... I sent my machine to be repaired more than 6 times!Every time you need to send it way to be repaired, you must find a huge box to pack, and be at home to be collected / delivered back to you!Customer service is so unhelpful! I could not believe! After years of been a loyal customer of karcher...I promised my self never buy from them again... and make sure my family and friends know what hell of experience I had!Really shame... but I hope this help! This is our third Kacher product in our house...and ...What to say about Karcher floor cleaner!!! Its a joy to use it. First impressions as you open the box is great too. Very easy to assemble, and the instructions are very clear to follow. The Karcher floor cleaner took me about 2 minutes to assemble. You just need to slide the handle in and voila !Comes with a small bottle of detergent to use... After the assemble I filled the small tank that is located on the front of the machine.. and off I went.I found the machine is bit heavy...I guess because is well build... that might be the reason. This machine vacuum and wash you floor at the same time. Im very impressed how much dirt takes of the floor. I found that the Karcher floor cleaner makes the floor quiet wet.. (takes about 10 minutes to dry ) Hopefully the next models Karcher might consider to have hot water instead of just cold water. I have porcelain flooring in the kitchen, and this machine does a great job in removing all the marks that my 2 doggies makes on the floor. I found that my lounge wooden floor comes very clean too.I would recommend this product for people how likes they floor clean all the time... takes seconds from set up the machine and use. Keep in mind this machine is bit heavy .. but the cleaning results and the quality is amazing!

I was sent the FC5 to review.I have light coloured laminate ,solid oak and vinyl flooring and few carpets in my property so feel I am able to comment on how the machine dealt with the various solid surfaces.Firstly the machine had to be assembled and I found the instructions clear and easy to follow. The FC5 is quite tall ( I am only 5ft tall) when standing in it's cleaning station but is fairly slim so takes up little floor space and is quite stable when stored between use.It has a clean uncluttered design and feels robust. The instructions say to hold onto the appliance firmly and I advise anyone using it for the first time to do that as it almost took off on it's own. Laminate offers little resistance!Once I got used to that the machine is a doodle to use . The fresh water tank uses the water sparingly and so will be economical if using detergent.( This is not supplied but can be bought from Kaercher) Even using just plain water the result has been impressive. The weather has been wet over the past few days so I was keen to see how the FC5 dealt with the accumulated grime inside the front door. It did not disappoint and the laminate has been left clean.Any remaining surface water soon dries leaving a streak free finish. Residual water was something I was concerned may be an issue for my sealed solid oak flooring but the FC5 doesn't leave much residual water ( and being plain water shouldn't affect the surface) so in future I am quite happy to continue cleaning this floor with the FC5.Apart from the laminate inside the front door, which I could see was becoming ingrained with dirt from wet shoes, I felt my floors to be in a reasonable state of cleanliness but from the water in the waste water tank I now know this to have been an illusion.Cleaning the floor is now going to take no longer than vacuuming a carpet even allowing for the drying time. One minute to clean the rollers in the cleaning station before storing the machine and job done.Being able to remove and machine wash the rollers is an advantage and I expect them to last a reasonable amount of time before needing replacing as the surfaces being cleaned are smooth.

I have been using the Karcher FC5 floor cleaner for a couple of weeks, and so far have been very impressed with its cleaning power. The unit itself is solidly built, and weighs roughly the same as an average upright vacuum cleaner. However, with its twin motorised rollers propelling the unit forward, only minimal steering is required to manoeuvre the FC5 around the floor when cleaning. Also, as it has a pivoting head, negotiating around obstacles like table legs or corners is effortless. The low profile of the cleaning head means it fits easily under the kitchen units right up to the kickboards. When it comes to the cleaning performance, it's the best floor cleaner I've ever owned. We have two young daughters and a cockapoo puppy, all of which love playing in the garden, which invariably means they are tracking dirt into the home, meaning the floors need almost daily cleaning. As a test, I cleaned the floor with our popular brand of steam cleaner then cleaned again using the FC5. I was amazed at how dirty the water was after washing the "clean" floor, and how little water was needed to do the job. I didn't sweep before the initial clean, and despite the floor being damp from the steam cleaning, the FC5 did a decent job of vacuuming up the smaller debris. It took me approximately 4 minutes to vacuum/clean the kitchen floor, and together with the 3 minutes drying time, the whole "chore" including filling & empting the tanks, took less than 10 minutes. A big timesaver is that it can clean multiple hard floor surfaces using the same multipurpose detergent. I can clean the porcelain kitchen tiles then move seamlessly into the hallway to clean the wooden floor. Plus, with the FC5 having a very long power cord (7m) I don't even need to switch power outlet. The only inconvenience of the FC5 is the weight compared to a steam cleaner, and the storage space needed given it is vacuum cleaner sized. However, if you have the storage space, the cleaning results from the Karcher FC5 are more than worth it. Highly recommended. [This review was collected as part of a promotion.]
