I did wonder at the time whether or not I could justify paying upwards of a tenner for an ice cube tray, but now having used the product for a few months, I can say without hesitation: "worth every penny".Having incorporated breakfast smoothies into my routine late last year, I had bought a couple of cheap and cheerful ASDA cube trays, 2 for £1. As proved to be the case though, they were cheap in the bad sense of the word, and quite the opposite of cheerful (one even snapped in half on first use!)Onto the search for something better, and it wasn't too long before I'd made my mind up, helped along by reviews on here. The product is bigger than I expected it to be - arriving in classy, high quality though minimalist packaging (that's the actual product, not the ridiculously oversized box Amazon deemed suitable to send this and another two small items in). No awful plastic to cut or anything like that.In use, it works very well - the lid clips on easily to avoid any potential spillages, and more importantly keep your ice isolated and fresh once inside the freezer. There is a knack to filling it just to the right level, just allowing some water to seep into the blue lever sections, as the 'click' of these bits snapping from the main cube is what ultimately frees them up.I even filled mine with Evian this week (as I do drink/consume the cubes, whether blitzed in a smoothie or gradually melting into some lemon water or fruit juice) and must say the cubes were noticably better in appearance, and easier to get out, than with tap water.I am not heavy handed, quite the opposite, though even in the normal run of things the product requires some twisting, prodding etc as per the instructions - happily so far no indications that it will not stand up to these run of the mill rigours.Robust, great design both looks-wise and ergonomically, and really considering just what refreshment you can get from having some ice cubes handy, it isn't a great deal to pay considering the quality and benefits of the product.Recommended.

Good for obtaining one ice cube at a time, in a controlled manner. When I make iced drinks, I hold the tray over the glass and push and/or pull the lever and an ice cube comes out. It feels nice and gadgety so I'm happy to do it two, three or four times more. It's been a talking point with a guest or three.Very occasionally a cube dislodges but won't fall out without nudging it with a fingernail, but compared to the difficulty I have with ordinary ice cube trays this tray works without effort and with a very high success rate. Over the last 3 weeks I've had no failures = 84 successes. I put in the maximum amount of water the tray allows.I bought my first in May 2014 then two more (white; pink)that month, and the version that has a lid (ASIN B00R86CM64) in Feb.2017 - I'd say the tray is sturdy and durable. All the trays still look and feel like new. (I find the lid of ASIN B00R86CM64 hard to get off when frozen so I use that tray without the lid i.e. just like the tray being reviewed here.)At 9quid50 per tray (in May 2014) it felt, and still feels, overpriced so it drops a rating star. For performance, top marks.

I loved this product! I have been using this ice tray for a few months now, and so far it has worked brilliantly. It has clear instructions making it simple to use, and the whole tray is made of really high quality, durable materials that definitely feels like it would last. The process of snapping the ice out of the tray is also strangely satisfying. On the back of the tray there are little 'tabs' that you press and the ice would fall straight into the cup. However you have to ensure that you twist the tray like it instructs before you snap it (to loosen the ice first), and also it works a lot better if you move the tabs both left and right for each ice in order to release the ice cubes (Itcomes out 100% of the time that way). The lid is also really great as it makes sure that the ice is dust free, and also saves a lot of space in the freezer as I can now stack things on top of it with ease. The dimensions of this tray is about 31cm x 13cm x 3.7cm.This is a product I have recommended to all of my friends and will definitely repurchase as it makes a great gift for anyone.

Amazing - I've finally found an ice tray worth buying. Having bought numerous different types of ice trays over the years only to be disappointed it is so good to have found one that really does actually work. Plastic ones are impossible to get the ice out of unless you take them from the freezer 10 minutes before you want the ice - and then twice as many fall out as you need. So I bought silicone trays - excellent for getting cubes out but exasperating to get into the freezer without spilling all the water (and usually the cubes are too small). Next I tried the Oxo Good Grips double layer tray - neat idea but tiny cubes of ice. Having prevaricated for ages (just how much money should you spend in the quest for a decent ice tray?)I tried this as the reviews were good and I'm so glad I did. One thing you do need to know is that it takes up a lot of space as it is big. But I'm past caring about that. I just wanted one that did it what it should. The search is finally over - it does - it just works.

At first glance this is a VERY VERY expensive ice cube tray, when you think that you can buy them for around 50p. BUT...And it's a big but, this is by Joseph Joseph and having used there products before I was willing to hedge my bets and give it a try, who would have thought it possible to reinvent the simple ice cube tray, but they've done it!In the past I've stuck to ice cube bags because that's the only way to just get the number of cubes you want, a traditional tray you either get all or nothing, and rarely where you actually want them(ie the glass!) so although expensive once you've bought these they last indefinitely! When you look at it,it's actually a vey simple premise but it works perfectly and with a little press of basically a switch you can get 1 ice cube released at a time so you can have exactly how many cubes you want! Simple and to some may seem unnecessary, but I think it's brilliant and now have 3 of them!

So, I’m amending my review! I’ve left the original one below. As you can see I was not particularly impressed. There is a good reason for this - I was not releasing the cubes correctly. There are arrows underneath the tray which suggests which way you have to push the silicone part. Transpires, that is the way you push it first - and when you push it in the other direction the ice cubes pop out perfectly! So, Joseph Joseph have done it again! Very pleased now that I know how to actually use it!!!It’s pretty much a standard ice cube tray with a lid. The snappy parts are not particularly effective. I was surprised as Joseph Joseph usually hit the nail on the head - this time it’s a little off.I think a standard ice cub tray with silicone at the bottom will do exactly the same thing at a fraction of the price.

The brief summer weather brought about the need for ice cubes once more. I like to make a few loads and pop 'em in a bag. Our freezer drawer layout often means I'd spill water while loading up the drawer. I've used ice cube trays with lids before but saw these JJ trays and thought I'd 'upgrade'Well, they're great, they give a decent size of ice cube unlike previous lidded trays that I've had. Once you realised what the technique is to release each cube, it's a joy to use. Really pleased with them and it's easy to tip the frozen cubes into a bag in a few seconds with no need to run the tray under water; as long as you remember that the little silicon buttons can be both pulled (as per the instructions)and also pushed up with greatly helps with freeing up the ice cube to be removed.

I'm so pleased with this innovative ice cube tray I've just ordered a second! I've spent time researching various makes, moulds, materials, reviews, etc and decided on Joseph & Joseph because they've come up with a clever design which releases the ice cubes from the tray without any hassle whatsoever! If there's one negative, then it would probably be if you overfill the tray, when the water freezes the lid will stick! On the plus side, due to the design, the ice cubes are slightly bigger than a bog standard ice cube tray, which is great, so unlike the old tray I only need 3 cubes versus 4! And no more fighting with the old ice cube trays ... they've gone straight into the recycling bin!

My household has been enjoying lovely chilled beverages without mess, broken finger nails or four letter words. The reason is this ice tray. Fill-up is a snap. The outer edges are high enough that there's no sloshing on the way to or in the freezer drawer. A small twist and the ice cubes pop out effortlessly. The cubes are about 3-4 times the size of the fiddly old silicone tray ice cubes that barely came out, if at all. We are used to cold enough water out of the tap, cold water with ice is a revelation. So much so, that we are contemplating the purchase of another tray since we now cannot get enough of the cold stuff! Very highly recommend.

Brilliant ice tray !! Good quality strong plastic body which is up to the job of freezing and then twisting, to loosen the cubes. Also good well fitting lid to retain liquid while transferring to fridge - no more 'shakes' on the way and wet floors !! The cube 'pop-out' feature is A1, just press the silicone 'trigger' under end of each cube and it pops the cube out. Not cheap but well worth the money and more durable than the one Hotpoint supplied with the new fridge / freezer. That fell apart after 3 weeks !!! The only slight con for some people is the size of the cubes. They may be a little on the large size for some but we like them.

Good quality plastic and certainly feels robust. I’ve not yet mastered the knack of extracting the ice quickly, but the lid is an outstanding idea! Rather than having to carefully tiptoe from the tap to the freezer and spill most of the water anyway, some mild attention to not sloshing it around is enough to not soak the kitchen.Makes chunky ice cubes which suits me perfectly.Value for money? This is Joseph Joseph! Don’t ask such silly questions! Put it this way: when I have a bigger freezer, I’ll be buying another one to fill with Tonic Water ?

This ice cube tray produces pretty large blocks of ice. It seems sturdy and is a large size. There are little grooves to fill each area evenly. The party trick of this one is that there are little silicone tabs that connect to the ice cubes, which when pressed releases the ice cube. This works well although often needs a little push in either direction to get the ice cube out. It does dispense them one at a time and pretty quickly and easily most of the time.Recommended, especially over those horrid all silicone trays.

After wasting years and pennies on cheap plastic trays that snapped, we finally bought this Joseph silicon tray. My partner hates silicone kitchenware, but even he is impressed with its performance, The cubes come out easily and are a good size. When washing it, though, make sure that all the water/ice has come out of the clip holes. It was much more expensive than the average ice cube tray, but well worth the money. Getting ice cubes out is a pleasure now, no longer a hideous chore.

An ice cube tray that takes little to no effort in getting the ice cubes out! Also, the lid is excellent for keeping the water from spilling all over the freezer and keeping the cubes clean. The ice cubes are also a generous size too and the lid ensures that the water actually stays in the compartment.Although it tells you the direction to unclip the ice cubes, i find the easiest way that works 99% of the time is to flick the tab both ways to dislodge the cubes easier.

For an ice tray you spend 10 pounds some people think it's too much but I like something that works even if I spend a bit more. Before using a different tray every time I tried getting ice cubes out I needed to put it upside down and couldn't avoid a couple of ice cubes falling on the floor etc. However with this item I don't need to turn it upside down I can take them out one by one. It feels pretty sturdy too so I don't regret spending a bit more for this at all.
