I have a garlic press similar to this and although it works ok it leaves quite a bit garlic pulp in the blades soI was a bit sceptical at first sight with the Joseph /Joseph but thought I would give it as goWOW is all I can say it knocks spots off of every garlic press I have had - and trust me Ive had loads as I love garlic !!!Although the holes looks a bit big - the pulp it makes is quite small - and there is hardly any waste left on the bladeCleaning is a breeze as it comes totally apart - the handle part can be used as a scraper to clean the pulp out of the bladeThe instructions say you can crush garlic with the skin on - However I peel mine and top & tail the clove to get rid of the hardbottom bit as I find that leaving the hard bottom on the clove tends to kill garlic presses !!!!Plus removing the skin means that you can then use the remaining pulp - I tend to just eat it raw as I'm an addict !!!!I got mine cheaper than the advertised price - so have a bit look aboutBut it has been one of the best kitchen gadgets I have bought and if it broke or wore out I would have another no hesitationHope this helps you

About 3 months ago we decided to buy a garlic press instead of chopping the stuff. We went through 4 of them. We kept going to Tk Maxx and finding the strongest looking bargain and buying it. Some good quality brands too. All broke. In the end we went to Debenhams to get the rocker style Joseph garlic press. I figured with no moving parts there is nothing to break (except the plastic version reviews say it does snap). They didn't have the metal version in stock but they did have this. It looked pretty solid and it was on sale so.... Got it home cooked dinner. We used twice as much garlic as needed simply because it was a pleasure to crush. Easy to clean, easy to use with its scraper action.looks like it will last and last. None of that "my clove isn't crushed but if I squeeze any more this thing is going to break" feelings.Of course if it does break in the next few weeks I'll update but I honestly think this press will last. It is expensive but we should have just spent the money in the first place and we would have had some change from the money spent buying the other 4 presses. In this case you get what you pay for.

With a garlic crusher, you really only need to know two things: does it crush garlic well, and is it easy to clean? For this one, the answers are yes and yes, with some caveats. It crushes garlic well enough. The cavity is large enough to fit two or three cloves at a time, if you're in a hurry. The handles are long enough to provide enough leverage to crush garlic with easy. The detachable top half makes it easy to scrape the strands of crushed garlic off the bottom. The one problem that the detachable parts cause is that they feel a bit loose when trying to crush garlic and jiggle about a bit. It's easy to clean. Since you can detach the top half from the bottom, you can get water and a cleaning brush right in there. There are no inaccessible crevices for garlic to hide in. Unlike some garlic crushers, you can't bend the top half round the other way and poke those little spikes through the crusher holes - it doesn't have that. But the holes are shaped like little cones so it's easy to just wash out any trapped garlic with a stream of tap water.

After my cheap IKEA Garlic press gave up after a couple of years, I bought two more for little money. One would squeeze the garlic up the sides rather than through the holes and one broke after one week. Clearly, it was time to invest a little bit more. When it arrived, my other half was VERY sceptical, but it proved its worth very quickly. This garlic press is honestly the best I've ever had! It crushes ALL the garlic and is super easy to clean! I love garlic, but before Joseph Joseph, I would sometimes not use it because it was such a hassle to clean the press (you would have to peel out the non-crushed bits with your hands and then your fingers would be all smelly and garlicky)and I would often not clean it ("soak it") for a couple of days. This has now changed! You just push the garlic rests out of the press with the green handle, quickly rinse it under water (and a bit of dish soap) and it's done!I love this garlic press!

This is a striking looking piece of kit and have to say that influenced us in ordering it but we also wanted something that did the job having had a couple of useless garlic presses. This certainly does the job. It looks great and feels weighty and sturdy in the hand. Even really huge cloves of garlic fit and are dealt with. The fact that it dismantles for cleaning is brilliant. A quick scrub with the washing up brush and it's clean. Couple of minor teething issues: it took a few goes before we got used to crushing garlic without the two parts coming apart as we opened it to add more, but we soon got the knack; you still need to exert your hand to crush so need strength and dexterity.Unlike other reviewers, we have been unable to crush ginger, but that could just be because we're getting on a bit and don't have the strength! Overall an excellent piece of kit.

This garlic press takes squishing garlic cloves to a whole new level. I read the pros and cons before I bought, and as there was a little bit of a discount at the time I thought I’d give it a whirl. It’s heavy and not jointed...marvellous. The genius is it’s absolute simplicity and total function. You don’t need to use a sharp point knife to lever the rest of the squished garlic out as the green plastic arm scraper can be used. How this pivots in the metal arm is very intelligent. I always peel cloves, and will continue to do so as the garlic juice just squeezed out so easily with this press. I will also hand wash rather than dishwash as I do with my sharp general cutting knives to encourage longevity.Dishwashers and tablets can just be too abrasive to some kitchen tools.

I’ve had numerous types and styles of garlic crushers over the years, but this one is by far the best one I’ve ever used. It’s easy to use, and crushes the cloves consistently well. The handle (robust metal) and the press (molded plastic) come in two parts, so after you’ve crushed the cloves, the residue left in the press can easily be scraped away with the end of the plastic part.It claims that you can use unpeeled cloves, and whilst you can, much gets stuck in the holes. I find it better to peel the cloves, and if they are quite big, to chop in half.It feels very robust and well made, and after a lot of use, it still looks like new. Very pleased with it.It’s pretty easy to clean, and dishwasher proof too. For the regular cook, I think it’s worth every penny.

The best garlic crusher I've owned to date (and there's been quite a few). It's nice and solid, I think it will last for years. The silver part appears to be stainless steel, so I assume the surface will not peel unlike all my other garlic crushers over time. The green part makes it easy to get every last bit of garlic out after crushing too, if you slide the end around in the crushing area. I do peel the cloves before placing in the crusher. I tried leaving them unpeeled as the product actually claims you can do this, but people who can do this must be super-human I think, mere mortals such as myself will end up with squashed garlic with the peel on and a tiny amount of garlic juice.Still a superb addition to the kitchen, very easy to clean too.

I must admit I'm a bit of a gadget fanatic. Of course over time most of them get relegated to the back of the drawer or the charity shop but this one's most definitely a keeper. I ummed and ahhed for ages deciding whether to get one, but the appeal of Jamie Oliver deftly "gunning" unpeeled cloves of garlic into dishes with minimum effort took hold of me. A cheapo version didn't cut the mustard though...I broke it within two days. This little beauty however is amazing. Easy to assemble and easy to clean and the garlic is perfectly minced when it pops out the other end. Larger cloves I find do require a tad more brute force and wrist action but all in all I'm impressed. So much so I'm using it almost daily...side of garlic anyone?!

Even having a handle that came off didn't stop my beloved 20 year old garlic crusher from working (I just held the handle in place while using) but throwing the handle away by accident did! So the hunt for a new, perfect garlic crusher began.. This Joseph Joseph garlic crusher is almost there, just a little niggle. Because the area of the garlic crushing bit is so big, it squashes it out flat, rather than through the holes. It's quite a wasteful design because I have to crush an extra clove to make sure I have enough for cooking.. A smaller crusher would've been less wasteful, but then I guess cleaning it the Joseph Joseph way wouldn't be possible. All in all, not a bad product.

Superb Garlic Crusher - I've never owned one before and was torn when reading the reviews. I use a lot of garlic in cooking, but have always chopped it finely by hand. Never was a problem. But my partner mentioned that Garlic Crushers are supposed to get more goodness out of each bulb. So, I gave it a try. This is beautifully designed. Comes apart very easily to clean. The green head part is designed to wipe the skins out of the bottom half - works perfectly every time. I've even stopped peeling the garlic. You don't need to. It just works. And gets a lot of crushed garlic out of every single piece. And it looks so stylish too. Superb piece of kit - highly recommend.

This garlic press is perfect.Durability: it does not have a hinge, which is perfect. I have had so many garlic presses break on the hinge. However, this simply slots in and cannot break in this way. It is very study and heavy, does not feel at all like it will break. Also with th weight of it, you can use it to hit the bulb and break it up into cloves, effortless.Performance. It really does get ever bit of garlic out and the ability to easily scrape it off is really good. None of the garlic ever squeezes out of the sides (something very frustrating about most garlic presses!)Cleaning: Super easy, scrape out the skin into a bit, and pop in dishwasher.Perfect.

Simply put this Joseph Joseph Garlic Crusher is the best there is! I have purchased many crushers over the years including the popular Zyliss easy peel, they all have one problem in that both parts of the crusher are made from metal resulting metal to metal contact and over time the metal surfaces in contact become scored resulting in small pieces of the metal scraping off and ending up in the garlic. The Joseph crusher is one part metal one part hard plastic so no problems there. It feels very well manufactured and robust and is super easy to clean. Yes its expensive in comparison to others but I am very confident this crusher will last many years.

I’ve always had those standard ones that squish stuff out the side. Got into marinade cooking for bbqs and needed a better crusher for garlic / shallots / ginger etc. This. Is. Brilliant. It’s very powerful and can crush with ease. No squish out the side. The rubbery green part unhooks and acts like a scraper to get excess off so no stinky fingers. Tbh most of the stuff goes through anyway. Sometimes paying more for something is worth it and the practical benefits of this design most certainly justify the price. Immediately bought another for my parents who are equally pleased. Highly recommended for every budding chef!

A couple of years ago my favourite garlic press (from Timothy Whites!) died after 30 years good service. I have bought several since then that have all ended up in the bin because they were not fit for purpose. This press works well and is a very similar design to my original one, it is easy to clean, goes in the dishwasher and does the job well. My only very, very slight gripe is that, like many kitchen gadgets these days, it is a bit of a stretch for those of us with small hands. Don't let this put you off though - it is streets ahead of much of the competition!
