I've been using this for a while now and I love it - contrary to some of the other reviews I have not found that this struggles at all with small cloves of garlic - it presses them just as well as the large ones. It has to be seen to be believed that all you are left with are a couple of papery skins after you cruch the clove - VERY impressive. and it is easy to clean, as soon as you finish using it, just run it under a tap to clear the holes and just pick the 'paper' from the pusher.I have tested the slice function and that was very good, but in does not seem to remove all the skin when you do this and there was an unfortunate incident the other night too.I was using the slice function for the first time in a recipe rather than just a test, it was a small clove and all I can think is that the clove moved sideways whilst pressing and it unfortunatly damaged the 'pushing vanes' and caused them to bend and press out one of the cutters. I contacted Amazon immediatly and a replacement has been duly dispatched.I have not been put of this product by the failure I suffered - I am an Engineer by trade and can easily recognise a freak circumstance when I see one. I will continue to use the press for Crushing Garlic, but If a recipe calls for slicing, I'll use my knife (I cut it thinner that way anyway).Overall a very capable product that manages small to large cloves very well and is easily the best garlic press I have ever used. I only award this product 4 stars, not because of the failure I suffered, but because it does not remove the skin properly when slicing. It's still an impressive kitchen tool.

Good Points... The Garlic Press is of a really durable Heavy Duty construction and will last a life time, it is also easy to wash and is made of a material (an aluminium alloy, I guess) that is totally Rust Proof and Stain Resistant.Bad Point, only the one and maybe just applicable to the item I received (sorry this is a bit long winded)...The press has two sections; the press itself (which works fine) and a second 'Slice' section. The 'Slice' part of the press is made up of a multi-tongued press side (same material as the main body) and a bladed side. This bladed side has nine metal blades across approximately 3/4 inch encased in a plastic housing, this is removable in its entirety but you can't dismantle this (something similar to a multi-bladed Gents razor). The problem is on the press I received it has 3 blades that have no edge at all on them so this just 'splats' the garlic rather than slicing it. Because the blades are so close together and you can't dismantle this 'unit' there is no way to sharpen or put an edge on them. A real shame as this lets the product down because it is obviously a manufacturing fault and there is no way to rectify.

Needed a new garlic press, didn't know what to go for then spotted this and wondered if it would meet my needs because some of the reviews were a bit negative. Well.... the price was right so I went ahead and ordered one and I'm very glad that I did!The head is in 2 sections, one for pressing and the other for slicing - does what it says on the tin. Found the press to be really good, garlic crushed more than enough to release the oils and cook evenly. Most of the left over bits and skin come out easily and although its not quite as easy to clean as my old press it isn't too difficult or time consuming. I haven't used the slicer as much but no real problems with the blade system and happy enough with the slivers I've scattered into some of my dishes.Happy with my purchase, looking to a long and tasty relationship with my slice 'n' press!

For me this is an excellent garlic press and bonus with a slicer. I use a lot of garlic in my Cafe Bar here in Benidorm especially slicing when doing Garlic Prawns. For me the price is a little pricey but it is endorsed by Jamie Oliver, I am fed up of spending good money on gadets like this that are waste of time and are rubbish never mind the money. This press is sturdy and strong I find no problem in crushing or slicing and my slicing part is metal which is difficult to remove but the solid press part is great and without to much trouble pressing is great although be it a bit on the small size but then most garlic presses are. Cleaning is a doddle hot soapy water and a brush does the job without too much problem.I cannot understand other reviewers who slate this item.

I was sick of keep buying garlic presses only to have to keep chucking them because they had broke. Usually pay around £5-6 for one. So I thought, enough is enough. I saw this for £4.79 instead of the rrp of £17.99, i thought "I'm having that" lol. I'm so glad I saw this on offer when I did. It is well made and very heavy compared to my previous ones. It seems extremely sturdy and I'm hoping it will last me a lot longer than the standard 6 months others have lasted. The only thing I have noticed since using it 3 times, is that on the 1st occasion when I was trying to crush the garlic, the press compartment of the slicer wasn't going in the hole and was stopping me from crushing the garlic all together, once the clove of garlic was smaller it worked fine.

After suffering many poor, low quality garlic presses that have broken in my hand, this one is a refreshing change! The leverage is good and if you are so inclined (like Jamie) to not peal the garlic first you will be able to crush the garlic with little effort. Washing it takes no more than 5 seconds and is not any more difficult than any other garlic press. My advice to those who do complain is to wash it straight away, ie do not let the garlic become dry because it will stick and become more difficult to clean. If you do have pets or big feet, beware as the press is very study and has a bit of weight and will most likely murder whatever you drop it on top of, you have been warned.Enjoy!

This, though bitter experience of other products, is the only Garlic Press on the market which actually works in my experience. It is a shame that this fact is not advertised by name as well as portrayed in the Jamie Oliver "30 minute meal book" and elsewhere. The only design defect is the usual one, which is common with nut crackers and many other similar "hand appliances" of this nature, the final closure state of the item can trap the soft flesh of the hand. However the remains of the garlic in the press luckily, usually stop this from happening. The handles could do with holes in them to allow the product to be hung on a rack of hooks.Never the less, this is a very worthwhile buy.

I have bought many Garlic presses in the past and each one when used after pressing down the handles always ended up with garlic left behind. So when I saw the Jamie Oliver Slice and press I was very wary. I took the plunge and Bought it. WOW I am so very impressed ( excuse the pun) the press is very sturdy and very well made. I can now slice or press Garlic depending on what I am cooking. The press is very easy to clean and I know that this press will last for years to come. I can honestly say that if you buy this you will not be disappointed.

This was chosen for my chef husband who can be umm, well, 'particular' about his kitchen choices. He loves his slice n press because it does exactly what it's meant to; slice and press garlic. Really easy to use, and really easy to clean. I find it hard to squeeze but this doesn't matter because he uses it to cook with anyway. Best garlic press we've had and would highly recommend it to anyone, particularly those cheffy types out there who are equally as fussy, pardon me, particular!!

Got this on a really good offer for around £15 and I think that's a real bargain. I would never have paid full price but this crusher works perfectly and the best thing is not having to peel the cloves of garlic. It's nice and substantial and doesn't require brute force. As other reviewers have stated, if you clean right away with running water there are no problems with sticky garlic clogging the crusher. Great kitchen tool - almost a must-have at the price!

One of the best garlic crushers I've had! Had it since 2011 and it's still going strong! Bit of a late review but thought I'd let you know it's does last if you treat it right! You don't have to skin the garlic either so it just collects in the crush part. The slicers saves so much time and although a bit tricky to wash it's just a leave to soak job really. Now about 4 members of my family have this. Nice weight to it and doesn't mark or scratch

If you've ever had a bad garlic press, you'll know how annoying it is when you have to take the other half out and chop it manually. With this, you can just chuck them in with skins on and still get hardly any wastage at all. I got it for £15 from £50 and have to say its the best thing I've bought for my kitchen in a long time. Sturdy, well made piece of kit, and i expect it will last me decades. Highly recommended!

Not the greatest fan of plugged or tv chefs label items but I pleasntly surprised its great to use but a chef i like to use my knife and bit of salt to break the garlic down to fine puree. But as we all know there times where making a simple dish it handy esp with slicing function. So well worth the price and feels a lot better and easer to use than my 16 year old french press i have in my chef tool box

I couldn't believe that anything could be easier than just sharpening your knife for chopping garlic but I was wrong! This is fabulous - easily slices / grates garlic with no peeling - easy to clean, great quality materials. Not a fan of "endorsed" things generally (sorry Jamie - nothing personal! love your books / programmes) but this is one of the best, most useable "gadgets" I have ever bought.

This is a great product, some of the bad reviews made me hesitant about buying this but I'm glad I did. It's works great for garlic cloves. If they are small ones just put two in the crusher. A couple of presses and you get some crunched garlic nice and quick. It's also very easily to clean. Just rinse under the tap. The price may put some people off but you get what you pay for.
