I have had operations in my feet which make buying and wearing footwear of any discription difficult. My husband and I both love walking. I have some fantastic trainers which are like slippers and I can walk quite a distance in them without too much pain. Although quite often I will hobble for a couple of days after. The trouble is this time of year I need something more substantial then my trainers. I need waterproof. I have a pair of timberland walking boots. They are great except for one thing, my right foot has become extremely painful around the big toe joint and along the base of my toes, there is a numbness and burning which get worse as I walk. So I have bought various cushioning products to try and help. However, when I saw these whilst looking for a pair of boots that would perhaps be more like my trainers for comfort, having read some very good reviews and one in particular from someone with Plantir Facilitus, I thought I would give them a go. These are in my opinion a very good quality pair of walking boots. They open up and are therefore easy to put on. They are a little big for me, but then I’ve always been, prior to ops, a size 4/37. Since ops, although I can still wear many of my old footwear, I find new, I have to go up by half to one full size. These were a size 5. I usually wear a thicker sock and usually some large plasters to stop any rubbing. These unfortunately although felt ok for size, felt extremely hard under foot. They have an attached tongue which is good from a waterproof side of things as no water could get in from the top of the boot. They come upmwaynover my ankle, which again would be good, if unlike me you feel comfortable with that. I’m not, for me they felt hard around my ankle. I suppose being new they were stiff, but I didn’t expect them to be quite so high up my ankle. They felt very clumpy and restrictive. I felt like I had the old divers boots on! So I have now bought some cushioned socks, and with my cushioned metatarsal over toes bandage thing, I’m trying my old timberlands again. I would love a waterproof walking trainer. Anyway, if you are ok with good sturdy, walking boots, these are very good and I would have no hesitation in recommending.

I've been walking in them through muddy fields, etc. and so far they seem to be surviving the onslaught from both the elements outside and inside the boot. I'm always sceptical of the quality and forever in doubt of waterproofiness, but so far so good. Always tempted to ultra waterproof with sprays/wax. Anyway, I still think they're great!Update: They have finally broken their default waterproofing after about 100 days of daily wear. I used a waterproof spray. I'm not sure how long it will keep, but I will continue to clean and attempt different waterproofing products to create seal tight waterproofing, without having to do it too often.Update Aug 2015: They have finally started to wear down to the point of me buying another pair.I've pretty much been using them constantly; walking a dog 3-4 times a day through autumn, winter and spring (and summer, if I can survive the heat, sweat and the smell after taking them off), fields/puddles/mud, through town, on buses/trains/dog poo/etc., wet/snowy/windy weather. The waterproof sprays did ok. i also tried sealing the gap between the leather and the sole with a rubbery solvent. After a while (a month or two after purchase and wearing them everyday) it became the shape of my foot (I do have quite wide, small little Hobbit like feet) and eventually it has become part of me where I didn't need to think about them existing; in some odd way, wearing any other shoe now feels blasphemous. I'm reluctant to throw these away even though they have nearly worn out. Additional: I've used 4 sets of shoe laces, as the showlace grips are quite sharp and can easily catch, unweaving the showlace (also I was wearing them constantly). I've got some brown Dubbin that I plan to test on my old pair before applying to my new pair.

Over the years I have had boots made by all the usual suspects: brasher; merrell; berghaus; north face; hi tec etc. Some have been really comfy and serviceable, others complete rubbish.I decided after getting wet, cold feet yet again to invest in a new pair so started to have a look around to see what I could find. I was surprised to find Grisport - I had not heard about them before and was quite taken by the fantastic reviews and great value.I originally ordered a pair of Dartmoor shoes, but was disappointed with the support. So it returned them and decided to give the Timber boots a try. They arrived yesterday and the first thing I noticed was the quality - they are up there with much more expensive brands. The fit is good - I am a 4 in shoes, but always go up a size in boots (many years ago I was talked into purchasing a very expensive pair of boots in my normal shoe size - they were okay for short walks but completely useless for longer hikes. There is nothing worse than walking downhill with boots that are too snug!). I am glad I did as they are roomy but not that long. Comfy out of the box, wearing a thick pair of socks, I walked about three miles in them yesterday with no problem except for the collar around the top of the boot which is a little stiff (I am absolutely sure this will break in). These boots are substantial and very well made. I like the fact that they are made in Europe too. What I must not forget to tell you is that although substantial these weigh in at an incredible 500 grams each! I cannot beleive how light they are!So, so far so good. I will update my review from time to time to let you know how I get on with them, but if I were you I would not hesitate to buy.

Great quality boots. Been looking at them for a while and had done some background research and decided to take the plunge even though i'd not heard of the brand before. I walk my dogs daily and do regular walking holidays with more strenuous routes So needed something for comfort and waterproof with good grip over winter months. I also wanted Black leather so they would go with most of my wardrobe. So glad i chose these. Really sturdy high quality feel, soft leather, loads of padding in tongue and round ankle I can't see many seems so design is good for preventing any weak spots for leakage. They felt comfy from first walk and no rubbing or blisters. I'm usually a size 5.5 and I ordered 6 after reading reviews.I've added a liner (personal preference for all my boots but these are comfy without too) and theres still room for thick socks. Walked through shallow streams and across mossy rocks on first walk and grip so far is great, and a quick test in stream resulted in perfectly dry feet. Love the curved sole which seems to propell you when you walk. They are very light too and I'd say not much heavier than my well known brand lightweight summer boots. Already thinking i'll be getting another pair of these when they need replacing. Love how they look when on and they actually make my feet look smaller even though they are slightly bigger sizing. Only thing I'd change is the laces but these will do the job until I need to replace them. Hope Grisport continue making Black leather walking boots as there's a gap in the market they can corner. Buy them, you'll be glad you did.

Brilliant boots! I thought I'd give these boots some time before writing a review. I needed black boots to wear for work, working in the horticulture industry I'm on my feet all day on uneven ground and having to walk over muddy surfaces, through puddles and slippery pathways. I can honestly say these boots have stood up to the constant daily wear and tear and are still going strong. They have kept my feet warm and dry all winter.I was suffering from severe plantar fasciitis, so much so that when I got home in the evening and removed my old boots I could hardly walk. I would wake up in pain in the night and was looking at various options such as ankle braces to help. I bought these boots almost as a.last resort.I was hesitant over the price but looked at the good reviews and the fact that these were one of the few pairs that not only came in black leather, a stipulation of my work uniform, but in women's sizes! The fit is spot on and I've not had one blister or rub from day one. I wear them with thick walking socks each day and have purchased gel heel inserts just to add slightly more cushioning, more for my own peace of mind as I really don't want the painful heels back! After 6 months of continuous wear, I can honestly say they are just as comfortable as day one. I wouldn't hesitate in getting another pair but as they've hardly worn I think it will be a while yet before they will need replacing! Absolutely 100% recommend these boots!

These boots absolutely BRILLIANT!!!!such good value for money. I had them for Christmas and didn't want to pay a fortune although they were just under £100. I had looked around at so many and I wanted a boot that was comfy and waterproof. Well this boot ticks all the boxes and more. I have put two layers of wax on them also just to help but they are waterproof. I have gone dog walking in muddy biggy fields and they have still held their own. I sometimes wear with a extra sock sometimes don't. They are good around the ankle as they are supportive as I wanted this as I have weak ankles. I have also used them in the snow and ice and not slipped and I am always really worried about this as I have a bad back and really don't want to fall as my back is not good.I have not needed to break them in at all. I have never had any blisters with them or sore feet, although I have not done a great hike as due to acute back issues I cannot walk for miles. They really are an excellent boot and I will definitely be buying another pair when these wear out. They are indeed totally waterproof. I can't rave on enough about these boots and I liked the fact that they were black rather than a dill brown colour. A look impressed!!!

These are one of the best things I ever bought. Extremely comfortable, insanely durable, great all round.I was looking for something with a bit of support, a bit of flex and most of all light weight. These boots are amazing. Almost as light weight as trainers and if, like me, the spring in your step is more of a creak, these do all the shock absorbing for you. Cushioned ankle support, good, firm lacing and they take all kinds of knocks. All this while being so breathable they're just as wearable at the height of summer as in the depths of winter.I've had mine for coming up to three years and they are my go to boots whatever the weather, whatever the surface. In three years they've done a lot of trudging about and to look at them, you'd think I'd had them a week. Had to replace the laces once, which you expect when you wear a pair of boots as often as I wear these. I have walking difficulties these days and if I need to be on my feet, I need look no further than my Grisport Timber boots. My perfect boot and if they ever eventually spring a leak, I'll get another pair and wear these ones as indoor shoes :)

With all the snow in the UK over the last few months (I live in Scotland) I knew I had to get a pair of shoes for going out and about without getting all wet, but most snow shoes are so ugly! And you can only use them in winter. So I opted for these hiking boots instead which came in black, an unusual colour for hiking boots but I was delighted as it goes nicely with my wardrobe, they are rather attractive for hiking boots (who says you can't be practical and still look good) and very, very comfortable! And they are actually waterproof too, so ideal for all conditions. Because of the discrete style they go with so many outfits, I am now at risk of wearing them everyday....In summary - a good looking, waterproof hiking boot which is great value for money. Recommend!

These were just the type of hiking boots I was looking for. I'd spent weeks and weeks looking but to no avail. Then I spotted these on Amazon. "Why didn't you look there sooner?" I hear you cry! "I forgot" is the only answer I can give. Anyway onto how these puppies feel...... as I titled this review, that is how it feels like. Your feet are so cushioned its unbelievable!! So comfortable I'm going on more walks now than I've ever done I my feet are definately not complaining. The ankle support does seem to help strengthen your leg so you don't seem to wobble quite as much when on rough terrain and as expected from a boot of this quality the tread is very substantial thus preventing you slipping even when on the most jagged of rocks.Highly recommended.

I first ordered these boots in a size 6, which is my normal shoe size - I've had Grisport footwear before and found the sizing to be accurate. However, this particular boot was much too small. I exchanged them for a size 7, which was OK for length, but so deep that I got the impression that they were a men's or unisex size. No issues with the quality of this product, they just don't fit me. I have returned the size 7, and managed to find a pair of Grisport Hurricane boots in a local shop, which fit very well, they have definitely been cut on a women's last. I will continue to buy Grisport boots and shoes as they are excellent quality.I also like the fact that they are made in Europe by a company with good environmental credentials.

Working festivals in security I can be on my feet for 16 hours. I have had ladies magnums years ago but the quality has declined and I have tried the best and most expensive which are Lowas which were so hard it was like walking on concrete but these were comfy right out of the box and the waterproofing stood up to many muddy puddles in the New Forest with my dogs. Highly recommend for work or walking

One of the best hiking shoes I ever bought. I bought this shoes for work as I am always on the go. The shoes is well padded, very light and it doesn't make my feet sore even after working for 12 hours. My co-workers keep on asking me where I bought my working shoes, so I just told them where o bought it and how much.Although it's quite expensive, I'm hoping that it will last me for years.

Finding walking boots that fir is always a process of trial and error. These are not as large as I expected for the size, but I there is room for thick winter socks and I found them comfy enough to walk for a couple of hours at a time from their first outing to the woods. Offer great ankle support.

I do have problems with footwear so was just a bit worried if these would be as good as other reviews had said. I shouldnt have worried they were so comfortable from the start. Good quality and they look really good too. Amazon as usual were very quick and efficient in dealing with my order.

Great boots. Fit well and are very waterproofs so far. I walk my dogs every day, so they have been put through a lot of wet weather and mud. They come up quite high on the leg, so as long as I don't do the laces up too tight round my chunky ankles, they are really comfortable!
