My parents hardly drank but never allowed this drink to be absent from the drinks cabinet, for the benefit of friends and visitors. And as a very young teenager I was never far away from that cabinet, with my interests purely on the Cointreau. Ah yes, Cointreau!Cointreau in the 1970's was the drink to be seen with. And who was I to argue with that notion back then as a growing schoolboy. Many a night I would tip toe down and break into the cabinet with all the traits of a seasoned thief for a quick sip of Cointreau - just for that oh so sweet orange taste. Of course the next morning, trying to get me up for school was as difficult as trying to raise the Titanic. Wasn't long before I was caught - and stopped!Happily,

It's cointreau - if you know you're looking for cointreau then this review isn't for you. If not - read on.Cointreau is a colourless orange liqueur, similar in theory to triple sec, blue curacau and grand marnier but with some differences.I think it's technically a type of triple sec - it has a sweet orangey flavour, but unlike the majority of triple sec's and blue curacaus it isn't overwhelmingly sweet or (more importantly) artificial, and processed tasting. It tastes natural, with a subtle sweetness and the same sort of orange taste as the oil you get from the orange peel. Also, blue curacau is blue, this is colourless.Grand marnier on the other hand is brandy based, and has a much deeper and richer flavour.

Brilliant spirit for cocktails, the zesty orange flavour adds an extra kick to any plain old drink and Cointreau is much nicer and less artificial tasting than other orange flavoured spirits. The bottle itself looks really classy too, it's quite chunky and stands out on the spirit shelf. I could lie and list all the manly sounding cocktails I make with this, but the reality is I'm mostly using it in Cosmopolitan's. They taste delicious, and Cointreau plus some lime juice and Absolut citron vodka are the perfect ingredients to add to your Cranberry juice. Now excuse me I have a column to write and my friends Charlotte, Samantha and that ginger one to meet up with!

If you hate oranges do yourself a favour and buy something else....it's orange peel heaven with this fancy pants liqueur....The presence of orange falvour is undeniably everywhere with each sip you take its like being placed in an orchard during harvest time, by the time you take the last sip to finish off your glass, reality hits it's -2 outside and you'll be in work tomorrow alas you're not in Spain under the sun but rather your child is trying to bight your leg off you'll then you'll quickly proceed to pour another helping!

I bought this to put into a bespoke cosmopolitan cocktail making gift set, I didn't have time to hunt the high street for the items I needed so turned to amazon. Quick delivery if not a little expensive but the delivery cost worked out okay for me as I ordered three different miniatures under a single delivery cost (Cointreau, Absolut Citron Vodka, Absolut Blue Vodka). All were genuine items and tasted great.

There are other orange liqueurs, but Cointreau is head and shoulders above the rest. The only one which comes close in my opinion is Grand Marnier. Try it as an after dinner drink with ice. However, my favorite use of Cointreau is in an Irish type coffee. To make the cream float just make sure you put in plenty of sugar and slide the cream over an upside down tea spoon.

This is literally one of the best cocktail ingredients I own. It's so adapatable to summer fruit mixes and it's popular when we have large gatherings.Nice as a refreshing evening drink straight also. If you want a mixer for Cointreau, I'd use pink lemonade, fentimans or lemonade at the least. Will help the flavours come out more.

Hardly ever drink this, as it is just fantastic drizzled over fresh fruit salad. When my kids were young, to disguise their father's love of this particular alcohol, if they asked "What's daddy putting on his fruit", my wife replied "That's daddy's juice" and so it has remained to this day, some 50 years later - 'Daddy's Juice'.

Loving the price and the fact I can order a bottle of this, 2 bottles of Tequila and a bottle of pure lime juice and have the whole giant Marguerite delivered to my door by Amazon ... what's not to like??? If they could just figure out how to deliver the ice and glasses and maybe a cigar or two ....

Pretty straightforward product if you like this item! The only thing was I missed the first attempt at delivery as this 'needed a signature' but the second day they just left it for me - I'd have thought being alcohol they'd be a bit more careful but clearly not lol!

Bought a couple of bottles BUT the taste is different from when I bought it regularly, as I always had it with Schweppes ginger beer, it was such a refreshing long cool drink, as I cant get Schweppes ginger beer anymore I am putting the different taste down to that..

Ah, the lovely taste of Cointreau, which I enjoy on the rocks and with orange juice. If you know Cointreau you know what you're buying, if not, it is a lovely orange flavoured spirit/liqueur. Just writing about has temped me to go and pour one for myself right now!

I'm tea-total myself...I bought it for a friend's birthday ...You do need proof of age ...I think living in an Almshouse is a bit of a give away as to what age range I am in lol ..you do have to be of a certain age ....Been a long time since I was under 18 ???

Happy days, I ordered this on wednesday and got an email saying it would show up the next wednesday but then it arrives on the friday! A fantastic drink, quite strong at 40% but really smooth on the way down with a really nice taste to it.
