We’ve been enjoying “Kings Ginger” liqueur for a number of years. We found that it was available on Amazon back in November 2020 and placed a regular subscription order. Our first bottle arrived in November and it was the usual black bottle with an alcohol value of 41%.We received another bottle on the 1st of Feb.We were surprised that the bottle had changed to a tall yellow type, (as per the new description above) we assumed as it was from the same company and the drink was the same name that they had just changed the design of the bottle for “trendy reasons”.We subsequently opened the bottle and poured out 2 small glasses and sat down to enjoy our favourite drink. What a massive disappointment, this tasted nothing like the original “kings ginger” liqueur. It had a very harsh ginger/ lemon taste completely different from the original. On checking the label and comparing it with the original black bottle I found that the 2 bottles have different bar codes and that the recipe has changed and the alcohol value is different at only 29.9%.I’m surprised that the manufacturer is selling this new version under the same name as the original, this must be causing lots of complaints from existing purchasers of the original. These 2 drinks are completely different and they should not be sold under the same item number!!BEWARE If you enjoyed the original in the black bottle, this is not the same drink despite it keeping the same name!!

I've read about this liqueur for a long while until eventually I decided to spree myself and treat myself to a bottle. I shall never hesitate again! It is absolutely perfect. I'm usually a whisky "and just a wee, wee drap o' The Dod Burn" man and I do not usually care for sweet stickies. Whilst this is a little bit "sticky", it is definitely *not* on the sweet/sickly shelf.I honestly do not really know how to describe it. It is just, simply, absolutely tremendous! If the story about creating it for a King is true, well, I hope the creator was suitably rewarded by His Majesty.(This morning, I have just tried a wee drap of it in a glass, topped up with some decent whisky,on the morning after a heavy rugby game [I was only watching] ... and it definitely hits the spots other spirits cannot reach.)Wot a bottle! Wot a superb drink!

Had not heard of this liqueur before it was on an Amazon daily deal offer.Tried it and have not regretted it for one moment! This is a well-balanced, smooth liqueur that has lots of ginger on the palate. It is not sickly or too sweet and the (fairly high) alcohol content is also not too pronounced or firy. The bottle itself did not come in a gift box, but it looks good and would make a fantastic present for good friends or relatives. This liqueur is ultimately suitable as an after dinner drink, but also great as an aperitif if well chilled. The secret is in serving it in small measures, preferably in small, pretty liqueur glasses, rather than in a big tumbler or wine glass.Buy it!

Just bought our 3rd bottle of the KG. It comes extremely well presented/labelled and exudes class. I would have no hesitation in buying this as a present for a friend. How does it taste? For an alcohol by volume strength of 41% the KG is silky smooth, with a delayed gentle hit of ginger. The lemon is rather unforthcoming, but this in no way diminishes the overall big warming mouth feel and the way it clings as it goes down. Have tried it in cocktails (there is a helpful guide to mixing it with other drinks attached to the bottle) and it can enhance many combinations. Buy it, you'll almost certainly like it!

My husband had first small glassful and said it's like a team of medics massaging his chest from the inside. It's seriously lovely stuff and with a cold or flu can unblock your tubes straight away. Hubby made a whiskey mac with this, Grants whisky and some ginger wine and was out for the count an hour later but when he woke up he said his cold sniffles felt loads better. The rest of the bottle is going away for Xmas as it's only got 50ml in and he will drink it every night till it's all gone if I let him. Strong potent stuff.

I purchased this liquor for my partner for Xmas 2013, he is an avid whiskey fan and I saw this particular liquor recommended in my monthly BBC Good Food. So glad I took a punt and bought it, he absolutely loves it mixed in with his whiskey, he's also a ginger fan too, so perhaps that helps. During the xmas holidays he gave it to guests to try and they too loved it. It will definitely be something that is a repeat purchased! Thanks too to Amazon, it was £18 back in December, the cheapest I could find anywhere :)

Arrived promptly and well packaged. This is a good liqueur - it gives the full fiery ginger hit without being overly sweet or syrupy. The alcohol and ginger combine to create a burn reminiscent of a peated whisky (though I prefer sherried Speysides, if that helps you understand my preferences). I enjoy it most neat, but it also works well mixed 40-60 with Briottet's magnificent chestnut liqueur Creme de Chataigne. Mmmmmmm! It's also nice as a summer mixer, with a good (non-synthetic) lemonade.

This is currently my favourite drink.Excellent on ice as a winter warmer. Fair gives you a wee glow! The label also has directions for various cocktails or drinks with KG in it.By far my favourite way is a tall glass with angostura bitters shaken out, ice in, double KG in it, topped up with ginger ale and a slice of lime. I could just sit and drink that all night. Well, I have and suddenly realised the alcohol creeps up and before I know it I have balance and coordination issues.

Took a real gamble on this as I was in the mood to try something different, the other reviews were promising and there is a little history to this drink which intrigued me.Well this is lovely, warm, and quite sweet - but not overly so for a liqueur. The ginger is powerful and tickles your throat and the lovely initial flavour is replaced after a few seconds with a warm glow that lingers comfortingly in your throat.Already persuaded relatives to buy this after tasting my bottle.

This drink is so beautiful and gingery, it made me briefly reconsider my opinion of the King-Emperor Edward VII. It tastes strongly of ginger with no alcoholic notes, (it rather reminded me of Old Jamaica Ginger Beer) I'm personally looking forward to having this in a cocktail. I'd definitely recommend a bottle, although maybe not a 50 or 75cl bottle unless you love ginger or have sampled some. I'll definetely be sending some to an old friend in the New Year.

I have always enjoyed ginger wine particularly in the winter months, and I love ginger in food, so I was intrigued by this liqueur. I expected it to taste mostly of ginger, and even be a bit fierce, but I was very pleasantly surprised to find that it actually has a quite balanced taste of ginger and citrus. It has some bite to it but is milder than ginger wine. It reminded me very much of heavily spiced rum. Recommended to anyone who enjoys ginger.

This is gorgeous! Bought for my husband and he loves it. It is very gingery and better than any others for that reason. It goes lovely with most mixers and is scrummy on it's own too! Would definitely buy again and from this seller as it arrived very well packaged. It makes a lovely gift for someone who adores the taste of ginger. Very smart looking bottle. IF you put it out on the side over Christmas be aware it will disappear like hotcakes!

This is absolutely delicious with a very interesting and wonderful flavour. I hardly ever drink alcohol, but I wouldn't want to be without a drop of this in the house.I bought it because I often suffer nausea and ginger or a teaspoon of brandy settles it. Yes, this does settle the tum, but that's not why I have it any more. I have it because it's fantastic. It has a high alcohol content though, so you have to watch how much you have.

Personally I only drinks Kings in one way and it is great! Whenever I have a cold, or I'm feeling a little cold or I just fancy a hot toddy I reach for this. The recipe:Shot good quality Irish whisky. Use scotch if you want but don't waste the good stuff - a supermarket bottle will suffice.Shot of Kings GingerTwo thick slices of lemon muddled into the boozeA squirt of honeyTop up with just boiled waterSit back and enjoy

Discovered this delightful drink at a Whisky fair. After tasting some of the world's best whisky's, this liqueur was a fresh surprise, to clean the palette, and tingle the taste-buds. It's a unique drink, with a fairytale history, and can be enjoyed on it's own, or with a dab of whisky. For the price, it's a steal! Just be very careful, this velvet smooth refreshment packs a 41% punch! Don't risk driving, after a few sips.
