I am very happy with this product. We live in coastal North Carolina and use this toy in the Atlantic. It floats great, specifically above the water line (some other toys float "in line" with the water, 1/2 above, 1/2 below). This toy floats 99.9% above the water. That makes it easier for pup to spot it through the waves. Even with waves crashing on it the toy doesn't submerge only to reappear like some other toys can do. We have the orange color and it is extremely visible and easy to see. When we come in for breaks, my dog likes to chew on her toys. She's been allowed to chew on this one for a several 3-4 minute ish increments and there are no signs of wear or destruction. The only thing Idon't like about the toy is that it is very lightweight and therefore doesn't throw particularly far. That fact would be a positive if we had a puppy, or a dog that wasn't a strong swimmer. I'm not taking any stars off my review for this. It's just a fact of the toy. Will make it more ideal for some families and less for others. We have a medium sized dog: she's a 52 lb. Golden Retriever. The medium bumper is the perfect size for her.Overall, excellent toy! At whatever point this one needs replacing I do plan to buy another.

I love this! My dog would rather swim than almost anything - and that anything is playing fetch! Combining the two with this toy has been wonderful. It is really easy to throw far, even with a bum shoulder - by using the rope for leverage and whipping it around a few times and letting loose. I received the bright orange color and couldn't be happier. It is very easy to see. She is not a big chewer, so the toy has held up great. However, on our trips home from the river sometimes she likes to play tug of war and that has lead to a small tear in the fabric. She occasionally works that tear and does minor chewing now that it has opened up. But overall it has really held up! If your dog is a major chewer, this would be something to keep away unless you were playing with it. We keep ours out with her other toys, and it is still in tact. I expect I will most likely get a new one sometime next summer, because we use it almost every day, and sometimes she drags it along the road on the way home. I'm very impressed with the quality and how well it has held up so far.

I have to admit that I'm pretty impressed by this toy. It's a different type of bumper than what I'm used to. It's much nicer than the common white or orange rubber ones you can find elsewhere. It's also durable, and the fabric it is made out of seems to be holding up very well, along with the stitching in the seams. My dog really likes this toy. She tries to get to it in the house, so I've had to start keeping it in the garage. I don't want her to chew it up or tear it apart, so I only bring it to the water so she can play fetch. I want this toy to last as long as possible. The only thing I don't like about this toy is that the rope is sewn into the product, and not attached by a loop like other bumpers. If the rope starts to fray or fall apart, I can't just replace the rope, I'll have to replace the whole toy. Other bumpers just have a hole you put the rope through and tie two knots on either end of the rope so it doesn't fall out. If the rope starts to fray, you can replace it on other bumpers. Not this one.

My Newfoundland dog LOVES these! They are easy to throw a good distance if you hold it by the rope when throwing. They also show up better and float better than tennis balls. We first got one when he found it way out in Puget Sound. He fetched it non-stop every week at the beach dog park for nearly a year till we lost it during one stormy day. I was SO thankful that Amazon had these AND cheaper than the pet store. We ordered two and had them in two days. Yay!My only complaint with buying them via Amazon is there's no colour choosing. I ordered two hoping one would be like the orange/blue one we lost but instead I got two green/blue. Thankfully my dog doesn't care, though!NOTE: if your dog is a chewer do NOT leave this toy out for them. This is not a chew toy it is a FETCH toy and a heavy chewer COULD possibly chew it up.

This type of toy is my water-loving lab's favorite. The rope makes it easy for me to throw far and the stick shape is easy for her to retrieve. We've always bought the other brand (tennis ball material in a stick shape) in the past as I never knew Chuckit made one. Over the years the quality of the former deteriorated to the point of almost being a one-time use item. Very frustrating to me after what I paid for them, and for my dog as well when the darn thing would sink and leave her paddling in circles. It should be noted that she never chewed these, so why the other brand fell apart and sunk is beyond me. The Chuckit has come to the rescue! After several trips to the beach,it's been indestructible and still looks brand new. I'd buy it again but probably won't need to for a long while!

Ho my goodness how I WISH I had purchased this Chuckit before now , our dog Holly & us have lost So many balls has they have floated away down some river !! Holly is a trained gun dog and is good at fetching but when a river is bubbling away she does not always seem to spot it ! This chuckit it just Brilliant, it’s shape it great for her to quickly get her mouth around , the Chuckit floats beautifully , lovely & Bright so she spots it easily , with the cord at the end makes the Chuckit so much easier to Chuck ;-) then a slipper ball , I am a paraplegic and throwing from a wheelchair I can’t always get enough power behind the throw but with the Chuckit I can really send it flying through the air ,I highly recommend this Chuckit.

This is an extremely versatile water toy. We use it with our less swim-motivated dog because it is easy for him to see and grab. He will retrieve it in the pool or natural body of water when other toys are ignored. The rope makes it simple to grab as the dog returns, and it is less likely to be swept down river than one without the rope. Our military foster puppies like it as do our two adult Malinois. It's one we use nearly every day. We bought a second when the latest puppy started to pull the end with the rope off. It lasted a good year with hard use. This is NOT a chew toy. It will not stand up to unsupervised chewing, but it is an excellent water retrieval toy!I'm glad we have the new one!

Although my dog hates the water, she loves to play with this toy on land! This toy has withstood 6 months of heavy playing (chewing, fetching, tugging) until my dog was finally able to chew the rope off. Even when she finally started in on the rope, the nylon material held together fairly well, so although the rope loosened and turned into a pile of strings, she was not able to bite off pieces and swallow them. She still loves the toy but I am ordering another because it is easier to tug with the rope on (she holds the rope, I hold the soft end). It is the one toy that my dog consistently wants to play with - she would rather bring it to me to play with than sit down to destroy on her own.

This toy is not for leaving alone with your dog but for throwing it and dogs to retreive from water. It is extremely lightweight and so can be thrown a long way if necessary. It also sits nice and high on the water, so that the dog can see it easily when swimming. It is easy to get carried away on a current so caution needed. Both my dogs enjoyed using this when we made trips to the river. Just a shame that my dog decided the entrance point to the river was a bit scary and I had to watch while it drifted off downstream. Great fun while we had it though, although a little expensive, especially when it is possible that it won't be retrieved!!!

This is a great toy to take to the lake or toss around the back yard. The body of the toy is very sturdy and has held up to a few games of tug of war as well as some chewing. The rope is showing some wear and tear but that is to be expected and doesn't effect how well the toy floats. The retrievers at the dog park all seem to take to this toy pretty enthusiastically and I have seen several survive tug o war between large dogs. The green color is very visible out in the lake. This is handy when you need to point it out to someone with a labrador, because your dog left it several yards out.

My pup LOVES this toy. It floats on the water and throws so much farther than most bumpers. When we get this toy out he just starts to dance with excitement! We have now gone through three of them, however. They aren't super duper tough. The cord is just knotted in the one end- the rope does not go the whole way through the bumper like we had hoped. So too much tug of war or chewing and the rope pops right out. However, we will continue to buy them because these toys work in every situation and with this and a Frisbee, my pup is set.

We purchased this before heading out on a weekend getaway that had a lake nearby pets can go in that is pretty clean. We adopted our 2 year old chocolate lab a few weeks before taking her up. We had no idea what her exposure to water was so we stayed mostly shallow. The bottom line is she loved this toy! She had no problems going to fetch it and bringing it back to us. It held up fine and she is quite the chewer. We haven't had a chance to use it since, but I would definitely recommend this if you have a dog that loves the water.

A friend brought this toy to the dog beach in Chicago for our doggy play date. My dog loved this toy, so I had to buy one. The orange is very visable in Lake Michigan's water. I'd imagine that the green version would be less visible. This toy floats very well and is light, so I'm able to "chuck it" out very far from the shore using the rope. The rope also leads to tug-o-war games, which can be good or go terribly wrong depending on the dogs playing. That's one thing to think of when purchasing this over the boomerang

Love the visibility. Floats great. It floats so well it floated away before I could really get to see how my dog liked it. :-( no fault of Chuckit! I got distracted and my dog was tired of being in the water. I actually think it would have worked out well because of the rope part. My dog doesn't like to open his mouth wide in the water because he doesn't like to get water in his mouth. The rope would be easier for him to grab. I will probably buy another one just to see if he likes it better than the Duck Diver.

Our 2 yr old lab loves this product. We've had this product for about a year and been using it each time we go to the dog beach and lake. Just throw it in and our dog runs right in and brings it back and is in total bliss. What's great about this product is that it floats and the material is very durable. Had to purchase a 2nd one recently because the material on the 1st one is getting frayed after 1 year of use. Definitely would recommend this product for water loving dogs that likes to fetch.
