I borrowed one of these from a friend of mine this afternoon and was amazed at the distance I was able to propel the associated ball. I haven't got a dog, so I had to borrow one of those as well. I remembered reading somewhere that the way to attract women is to grab yourself a pooch and head for somewhere they might be, so the four of us set out for the local park.I was confident that this launcher would be a perfect conversation starter, hopefully in tandem with some complimentary remarks about my throwing prowess. I was wearing my best white shirt and my finest pair of white trousers, having also remembered how successful they used to be in attracting the ladies the last time I was actively in the Dating Game.OK, that was in 1986 and fashions have somewhat moved on since then. And far from reminding anyone of Richard Gere, I'm fairly sure I look like an only slightly slimmer doppelganger of Boss Hogg. But nevertheless, that was my game plan. Instead of a Labrador, I would have preferred a dog that made me look cute instead, but there's a distinct lack of Shar-Pei dogs round my way so that was very much that. The four of us headed for a fairly busy part of the park, close to the pond, and close to some extremely beautiful ladies who were enjoying the Bank Holiday sunshine. I like to think I looked rather ethereal actually, with my outfit reflecting the light so dramatically. Everywhere I looked, ladies were reaching desperately for their sunglasses. Sure, I may have left them with retina burn for a day or two, but at least I had their attention. And that was before I moved into the main phase of my showing off, which was to deploy this pocket ball launcher. The version I had was the one in that very butch blue colour. Nonchalantly (and with no rehearsals whatsoever), I raised my fully-loaded weapon to just about head height, paused for dramatic effect, and launched the ball. My word, that thing travelled some distance. It flew right into the middle of a rather heavily wooded area, which is adjacent to the pond. It's a filthy pond as well, really muddy. I know that because, in the excitement of showing off and then flexing my muscles, I quite forgot to take the lead off the Labrador. It's funny how adrenaline affects different people. Obviously, I should have dropped the lead when the dog initially took off. But that idea only occurred to me much later, when I was hauling myself and my singularly filthy white outfit out of that pond, still attached to that Labrador. He saw nothing wrong with his behaviour, which I suppose is fair enough. And he had retrieved the ball, which was really rather impressive. When we emerged he dropped the ball at my feet, eager to repeat the experience. I was more concerned with salvaging my outfit, but all hopes of that disappeared completely when my four-legged 'friend' decided to shake himself dry all over me. My days of dazzling the ladies were over before they had even started and there was nothing for it but to find a different way back to my car. The dog was driven home, looking annoyingly pleased with itself. And I took myself back to my own home, pondering which soap powder would be best at removing silt from trouser pockets. But I didn't give this launcher back, no way. I'm going to work on my original plan. It had everything going for it, that plan. The only flaw in it was the dog. If I eliminate that and just pretend to have one with me, I will be far better placed to show off in front of the ladies with this launcher. I'm still convinced it's a conversation starter... .

A few months ago I adopted a 9 month old border collie/lab mix who has endless energy. Fortunately she loves to play fetch so we can TRY to wear her out with this activity. The problem was that within a few weeks of adopting her, my throwing arm ached like crazy. I didn't know launchers even existed when I turned to the internet to solve my problem, but my husband is an engineer so I decided if I couldn't find something, I would ask him to design one. Well, it didn't take long to find the Chuck-It and I ordered two of them - the long one and the mini.Side note: my 13YO son was unaccountably excited when he heard I'd ordered a ball launcher and surprisingly disappointed when it arrived. It turns out,he had visions of rocket launchers and had envisioned a machine that would launch the ball out of sight and couldn't wait to see it in action. His disappointment was in its simplicity and the fact it would require actual manual effort on our part to get it to work. LOL.I, however, am NOT disappointed. I use the mini most of the time and love how far I can throw the ball without my arm aching at all. It was so easy to learn to use and with a little practice I am accurate enough to hit a tree (if I want to) with it so the ball goes exactly where I want it to, every time. My dog LOVES the launcher. She starts dancing in circles as soon as she sees me pick it up.One of the best features of the launcher is that I no longer have to handle a soggy ball. When she drops the ball at my feet, all I do is scoop it back up in the launcher and throw it again. At the end of the session, I scoop it up and it lives in the launcher until the next session. This is such an incredible bonus they should charge extra for it.My husband is better with the long one. I find it harder to get the ball to release in time so it doesn't go as far for me as with the mini. I know its just a learning curve and I need to learn to flick my wrist back slightly to release it at the best time, but I'll confess I haven't taken the time to practice this. Also, the large one, having so much longer a handle tends to flex when I try to pick up the ball so its actually harder to do this. I would like to try the in-between size to see if I can throw the ball further than with the mini but still pick the ball up easily.

Chuckit, what would I do without you. You will probably think this is presumptuous of me (and maybe it is) but I think I was one of the original proponents of these chuckits. People used to stop me all the time to ask about this ball flinging thingy. I discovered it in a an out of the way pet shop eons ago. At that time I think they only had the long chuckits. That feels like a lifetime ago. I got quite proficient at it (there is a learning curve). Eventually the 18 incher came out and that became my go-to chuckit. I have tried the smaller ones (I really should have stock in the company) but didn't like them as much as the 18 inch version. If you're reading this (and why would you....at the time that I'm writing this review there are already over 1500 good reviews of chuckits so I am probably silly for even writing one) it is no doubt because your dog it as ball obsessed as mine is and you are either tired of picking up slobbered and muddy tennis balls or you don't feel that you throw far enough to properly exercise your pup. Take my advice and don't buy the Sport 18M. They say this handle is new and ergonomically improved. It is the least comfortable of all my chuckit handles. Get the pro 18M or the junior 18M. The handles are much more comfortable. This one isn't terrible but to my mind it isn't chuckits best work. I am giving 5 stars because the chuckit reviews all get lumped on the same listing no matter the size and I would give the chuckit concept 10 stars if I could. These things are durable and last. I have had one of mine for at least 5 years. Another one simply got lost which is why I am purchasing a new one. I keep them around the house so we always have one handy for Ms Ball Obsessed wonderdog.CAUTION: If this is your first chuckit be careful when learning to use it.... I've seen them fly all over the place and they could take out windows or smack your dog in the head, etc. Supervise your kids until they get familiar with the motion needed to propel the ball. It just isn't the motion you would expect so it takes practice.BOTTOM LINE: The is a ball obsessed dog's dream come true and that goes for the dog's owners as well. You just can't find a better gadget to exercise your pup.

My dog Charlie LOVES balls. I bought the standard orange Chuckit and it was his favorite ball. To challenge him, I wanted to see if I could try some different kinds of balls so I ordered these:Chuck it Medium Wheelie Dog BallChuckit! Large Ultra TugChuckit! Medium Evader Dog BallChuckit! Large The Whistler Ball 3-InchChuckit! Medium Rebounce Ball 2.5-Inch, 2-PackChuckit! Erratic Ball, Large, 3-Inch, 1-PackChuckit! Sport 26L Launcher and the Medium LauncherChuckit! Large Max Glow Ball 3-Inch, 1-PackAt it was a big fat THUD. Charlie hated them, I didn't know how to make them work they way they were supposed to work and thought I had wasted my money. But after a week, when I finally started to get the hang of it.The wheelie ball was a hoot. Charlie had never chased anything the like that before and he was totally thrown by it. The erratic ball and the evader started to make sense to him and he started enjoying them as well.I finally got my Launchers and we went to the soccer field to throw the various balls as far as I could throw. Now he loves all of them, but the standard, large Chuckit ball is his favorite. The light blue balls and the whistler is hard for him to see, so we don't throw them very far when we are playing with them.It was interesting to see how he responded to the glow in the dark. Charlie is seven years old and has "EXPECTATIONS" about what a ball is supposed to do. So he was actually shy about playing with it. Sam, our three year old Lab, on the other hand has "NO EXPECTATION" about what a ball is or isn't supposed to do. He loved it! Charlie warmed up to it after he saw Sam playing with it.So all in all, I'd say they were a great addition to our dog toy collection. Can't wait to see what they come up with next.

This little thing is by far the best thing i have bought my pooch this year and i have bought him loads of stuff.I have been using this everyday for around 4 months and it is in as new condition even though my boy has had a good chew at it now and then.My reason for buying this was that i wanted a ball launcher that fitted inside my over the shoulder bag i use when walking my dog.I wasn't expecting to much from this little thing but boy was i surprised when after a day of using it i got the hang of it and could launch a ball over half a football pitch. The chuck it itself is made of hard plastic and is really sturdy, it has survived many an attack from a variety of dogs.I have had the bigger versions you get from the £ shop and believe me when i tell you they are a very cheap imitation. I can get a further throw with this with my left arm than i could with the bigger £ shop ones with my right arm (im right handed).I would recommend this to anyone with a dog that is active and loves to chase balls. The only thing i would say is if you suffer from a bad back and are buying one of these launcher to save you from bending then depending on how bad your back is i would maybe say get the bigger one but make sure it is chuckit! and you won't be disappointed.I also recommend pairing this with the chuck it ultra balls check my review on them to. The also get my seal of approval.Giant thumbs up from me well done again chuckit!

Best thing I ever got for my dog. Before the chuckit I used to wonder why people would buy a specific thing for throwing balls.. are they insane? Just pick it up and throw! Sheesh. Well, listen to this...-You don't have to pick up slobbery balls anymore. It's gross and unhygienic to pick up balls dripping with not only your dog's drool, but also whatever it lands on in the park. It could land on wet grass trodden on a million times by other dogs and shoes. Who knows where they've been. Or on gravel or sand or a wet muddy puddle from yesterday. Or a pile of dog crap. Eff all that, just use the chuckit to scoop it up and keep your own hands clean!-No more bending down to pick up the ball with your hands!Yes, you still gotta bend a little bit (if you buy the short version), but not all the way to the ground anymore. Sounds petty, but if you have bad knees like I do this is a great idea. Plus you'll be more inclined to throw the ball more often whenever Fido brings it back, and faster too!-You can throw waaaay farther with the chuckit. Without it, I throw like a 9 year old girl, and my dog gives me this sad disapproving face. With the chuckit, I am a superhero propelling the ball half a football field away. My dog gets a satisfactory run and I don't get to feel like a terrible thrower. The only con I can think of is it gets other dogs excited at the park too!

My little corgi cross dog had a similar one of these in Australia....just not as good quality as this one and longer. when we moved to Greenville early this year we knew we needed one as she loves to play ball....and I for one can't stand picking up a disgusting wet slobbering ball....so it was a must we get a ball launcher. One of my criteria was longevity....I wanted something that was going to last and this one so far has fit the bill nicely. It is small, compact enough to take on day trips and will fit into a large backpack nicely. It is large enough to pick up the wet balls from the ground without breaking your back. Another feature I was looking for was to be able to use any ball with this launcher....and I am happy to report that you can.My dog doesn't like tennis balls and chews through any light hallow ball. It was important that it fit our solid heavy semi-cricket ball....and it does nicely. This same ball was purchased nearly a year ago...that is how long it has lasted...This launcher is fantastic, very long wearing and solid..both my husband and I rave about it all the time and plan to buy another one before we head back to Australia next year....we are raving fans....can't recommend it enough...just love it...use it at least twice a day.

This smallest Chuckit is Amazing! It works great for my 4 year old and 18 mo old grandsons. At first we would pull the ball out so it was barely gripped by this 12" Little chuckit. Then as the boys got the hang of it they could loosen the grip on the ball themselves and finally -- all in the same day and same few hours -- they were chucking the balls for my Aussie full speed and laughing and giggling like crazy. The other awesome feature of this tiny but great working mini Chuck-it is that it truly will fit in my purse or backpack so much easier than the medium or long range chuck its I have for home and dog park use. Yippee.Best of all,no grabbing that slobbery ball.Plus my dog has learned that when I tap the chuckit on the ground or floor that means drop it where I tap, which he loves because he knows it means more throws. When we go home I will take both of these with me so my roommate and I can throw at the same time for both our dogs in the house! They love chasing balls and even when the balls start bouncing around like pinballs!

My Labrador (8 months ) would rather play this than eat! He loves food but Ivan say ball and he runs to get the chuck it! We play 3-4 times a day and seeing the joy this simple launcher gives him is the best !I tried several other launchers but none one close to this one! We also love the boomerang (!,the paraflight works better than any disc ever!!)we have almost all the things chuck it makes so I can tell you the orange ultimate balls work best my lab prefers then regular size ( not the XL ( I have the XL launcher too but always use the reg 18" pro launcher !The difference in the " pro " is the handle has a nice grip that doesn't slip in rainy weather etc !I like the 26 too but the 18" is my favorite)Update - this add on was very cheap but pay attention!!- this is a small not a normal med ( the " s" means the smallest ball ) I had to give it away bc my dog is 90 lbs and it's a choking hazard for him ( the above review is based on another launcher same length I have in medium was trying to get an extra as an add on

I purchased this ChuckIt launcher a couple of years ago. It has survived hot summers and cold winters and the odd dog who tries it out as a chew toy. I still use this launcher all the time and it is in great condition. The launcher allows me to have hands-free ball pick up and more importantly, slobber-free! I don’t have to worry about the ball landing in a puddle or muck. The launcher is made of sturdy plastic that has some flexibility. The handle is a nice shape with a good grip; it’s easy to hold onto while tossing the ball. The launcher allows you to throw the ball much farther with less effort. If your dog loves fetch, this is a great investment. This launcher fits all small, medium and large ChuckIt balls, as well as standard tennis balls.Consider a few practice throws before playing with your dog. It does take a couple throws to get a feel for the launcher, but once you have a feel for it, toss away! I only suggest this to avoid hitting your dog (or someone else) with the ball while you figure it out.

This is the second one of these I've bought. The first one got damaged when it got left outside and driven over. But I loved it so much, I made sure I bought the same again. There are some reviews that complain the ball hardly travels forward. What those reviewers don't take into account is that this is shaped slightly differently to most other launchers. Usually, you would launch the ball with your arm extended fully forward. If you do that with this it will indeed almost land at your feet. You need to launch the ball when your hand is level with your shoulder. Once you master the angle of launch, you can get some serious distance. I'm an average built guy, but I can get 60-80 feet consistently.I have a German Shepherd x St. Bernard and a Belgian Shepherd x Collie and can wear them both out in 10 minutes.I can't recommend this highly enough, just take a bit of time to practice hold it at the right angle to get the distance. My dogs get very excited when they see me reach for it, so they appreciate it too!

These Chuckit! Sport Launcher toy by Canine Hardware are awesome for any dog who likes to run and loves to fetch. These make throwing long distances easy and gives your pet a long distance to run. Super fun and interactive toy for you and your pet, however I wish that they would make the ball a bit higher quality. We did not have any issues while playing fetch, however my dog is a chewer. While not playing he still loves to chew on his ball, and he chewed through this large 3 inch ChuckIt ball like it was butter. Lasted less than a day before it was cracked in half and destroyed. Our dog is a pit/shepherd mix and so he is fairly rough with toys. I wish they made these balls more solid so they would be more durable. It was an easy fix though, and we just bought a solid rubber 3 inch ball and use that instead now. Definitely worth the money though. We went looking for one of these in our local pet store and they were selling them for three times the price! Wow! Worth the wait to order it on here.~Thanx~

I bought the large one because I throw a "practice baseball". It's the size of a base ball, a little larger than a tennis ball. The ball is heavy and bouncy and this Chuckit! sends it FAR! After about 5 minutes practice I can whip it underhand where it rolls far, or give it a lofty arch to let it bounce high so my border collie can fly through the air to catch it.I have problems with tendons in my shoulders and this really helps me throw the ball far without much effort. I've only had it for a couple of weeks. After using it 2-3 times a day I can't see any adverse wear and tear. It seems to be holding up fine. I've even got Rikki putting the ball in the Chuckit! cup when she brings it back to me,so I don't even have to bend over to pick it up, or get my hands covered in dog saliva. If you do need to pick the ball up it's very easy to just scoop it up with the Chuckit! All-in-all a great product. Check out "Rikki the Wonder Dog" on Facebook. I'll try to upload a video as soon as I take one.

I had one of the medium size chuckits for my late dog when she passed I got a puppy that would have nothing to do with a ball and after she turned a year old and still didn't like balls i thought ok its safe to get rid of. well my dog is now ball obsessedd (she decided this about a week after giving the old one away) so I bought this one thinking it was a bit bigger but was pleasently surprised to find it was really pocket size, I only have a half acre and a very energtic dog that will play ball all day long. I didn't mind throwing the ball it was great bonding but my shoulder would begin to hurt and we would have to cut playtime short since we received our new smaller chuckit I can continue to launch the ball till she is tired out rather then the other way.so what i am trying to say is if you have a medium to large dog with not such a big yard you need to buy this for them. you will have a great time and they will love it as much as you... great seller item arrived in just a few days

I first saw the Chuckit line when working at a pet store during high school. I dismissed it as simply a gimmick for people who didn't want to bend over to pick up a ball, and/or had no idea how to throw a ball. Nearly a decade later, I finally decided to give one a try.I have no problem throwing a ball a fair distance with my arm, but the Chuckit allows me to throw it even further, with significantly less effort.Though regular tennis balls work fine, I'd recommend using the Fetch balls that Chuckit sells. Compared to tennis balls, they're easier to clean, I don't have to worry about my dog chewing them (since there is no fuzz for her to rip off), and they bounce a lot better (even on grass).I also have the Erratic ball, but don't recommend it as much. It certainly lives up to its name when it bounces around, but its awkward shape makes it more difficult to fit snugly into the Chuckit, which makes it more difficult to throw, meaning it doesn't travel nearly as far.
