The KONG looked to be a solid, well made product that could withstand much abuse from my delightful chewy chums. It came with some simple packaging that even the most sophisticated chewy chums could have appreciated, and it arrived safely and was delivered to the paws of the licking panting shedding machines. The waggy tailed chewy chums loved the smell and taste of the stinky rubber. Each to their own. I tried to tell them that if my keyboard smelled like that I definitely wouldn't lick it, but they were not put off by my reservations. The toys sent the pack of wild beasts into a frenzy of bouncing, wagging, panting and general euphoria. The menagerie was sent into a further frenzy when they saw the jar of peanut better being pulled carefully from the cupboard. Me being a mere human slave, I couldn't get anything past them! They were then sent to another level of euphoria, a rubbery peanuty one. As I slathered peanut butter into the holes at the end of the stinky rubber toy they ascended onto another plane of existence, becoming one with the universe and at peace with all the wrongs in the world. They were drooling and watching me with big puppy dog eyes as I slathered very thick and hard to slather peanut butter all over the inside of the stinky rubber toy. When the wild beasts disguised as my pets received the peanut butter filled stinky rubber toys, they each took them to a comfy spot, and proceeded to lick ferociously at the peanut butter, unaware that it was pretty much the same sort of consistency as wallpaper paste, and that it would take hours to get it all off. The hairy ones licked away for hours, unaware of the goings on of the world, too busy to look up from their peanut-gasm.Eventually, the cuddly hairy ones decided to leave the stinky rubber toys and came back to the modern world, and continued to live their lives, with a peanut shaped void clearly visible in their eyes. It saddened me, but I didn't want to face the repercussions of them overeating peanut butter and the river of peanut mud that would follow later on. Upon inspection of the toys by the human slave, she was correct in thinking they had finished. The only remaining peanut butter was far out of reach of the beasts tongues and starting to dry. A quick wash out with some water and they were as clean and stinky as new.The love - peanut relationship went on forever. The lick machines continued to lick peanut butter from the kongs, but they also found a new love for them even when the peanut was gone. They would take the black toys and sit with them, aimlessly chewing them for hours, making a beautiful symphony of squeaking rubber noises. Mozart couldn't compare. Even after several months, and then eventually years, the toys still stood up to the test of large sharp beast teeth and regular abuse. The toys stayed intact with only a peppering of tooth marks all over, like tooth holed freckles. They were firmly in love with these toys, and they lived happily ever after together

A little background is in order: Our two dogs are 18lbs and 50lbs. Both of them are absolute power chewers. They inhale bite size treats without even chewing. Nylabones don't stand a chance. Rawhides are practically swallowed whole. Plush toys are ripped apart before your eyes. One of them actually ate an entire pair of gym shorts. These dogs are chewing machines, what can I say. They do their work so fast that nothing keeps them occupied for more than 3-5 minutes! However, as much as they have decimated any toy we have thrown at them, their Kongs have survived for months without showing a single sign of the abuse they've endured. What's more, not only are these toys super-durable, they are the dogs'favourite toys- hands down! For these bone-shaped Kongs, there is a hole all the way through each end -denoted by the little jagged edges you see in the picture. The hole itself is sort of star-shaped, which is why the side view looks like a serrated, "jagged" edge. The edges are designed to hold a treat inside. Have no fear, though, the edges are tough- the dogs haven't been able to chew them up.We've had the best luck using flat, stick-like rawhides with the Kong. We break them into a bundle of pieces slightly longer than the hole, then stuff them in tightly. Inside the Kong bone, the treats last about 20-30 minutes while by themselves they lasted only seconds. Best of all, after the treats have finally been exhausted, the dogs continue to gnaw on them, as though searching for one more tasty morsel. This keeps them happy for another 10 or 15 minutes.I cannot stress enough how tough these Kongs are. If you don't like the bone shape, try the

My dog, bless him, is a chewer. He's destroyed loads of toys in the past, because he seems to like taking them apart. We were getting quite tired of buying him nice toys and then seeing them in pieces on the rug about ten minutes after giving them to him. And then we found this Kong bone. They're amazing. He's a cross between a Staffie and a Lab, so he's got the strong jaws and the appetite to match his genes! But he took ages - months - to even break one bit off one of these.Interestingly, we've never used them for their intended purpose - to put treats in the ends. He's happy enough lying on the floor squelching the ends together in his mouth (and filling them with slobber and licking it back out again,to ensure we're sufficiently grossed out). It's great to see him perfectly happy, creating little creaking squeaky sounds as he squeezes it together. It seems like it's quite therapeutic to him. I'm not sure if he just doesn't want to break it because he likes the squeezing sensation or if he physically can't break it (which would surprise me given his track record of previous toys, sticks etc), but either way, one of these will last him a good six months, during which he'll lie and chew it for a good few hours a day. When he finally did break an end off from his current one, he was still perfectly happy just to focus on the other end instead. To give a better idea, he was given this just before Christmas and it's still got one squeezy end left!I can't speak for other dogs, perhaps I'm naive to how destructive others can be, but I know what mine is capable of, and taking that into consideration, this product is brilliant!

I wasn't sure if my little dog would like this or not, as I got her a bacon flavored nylabone she turnedher nose up at, maybe it was too hard for her. My other dog loved them.Anyway, got this in the mail, cut one of her bully sticks in half, stuck a piece in each end, didn't fit well as the bully stick wasn't thick enough, but she was able tocarry the bone way, eating the treat as it dropped out. I checked her a couple minutes later and she wasjust chewing on this bone out in the yard like crazy! Running around with it in her mouth, having fun. It isa perfect size for her, as she is an 8 pound Chihuahua or Chiweenie. We played fetch with it for a good halfhour, with her chasing it and bringing it back each time, dropping it on my foot so I could toss it again! Not sure how well it will hold up, the part where you put the treats in seems it might be a bit easierfor her to chew pieces off, so, will just let her use it when we go outside for now. I don't think I need toput any treats inside it for her, she seems to like it so much, but once in a while to surprise her I might!+++++UPDATE: Well my little dog absolutely still loves this toy, but as suspected, she quickly chewed pieces offon the ends where the stuffing treats go, so, I have to limit her time with it. She likes the texture of it,so, now I have to find one that has the same rubbery texture, but maybe not the open holes on the ends, so shecan chew away but not into pieces. Took one star away for that, but still will buy Kong products and more ofthis until I can find something that lasts a bit longer.

For Puppies and young dogs who like to chew this is a well made product. Our puppy does use it on her own to play with but we also use it to throw and for her to retrieve and bring back to us in the mornings before she goes for her mini-walk. It is very bouncy and when used on the tiled floor our puppy loves it as it springs back up into the air. She is not a puppy who is left for hours on end and therefore I have surveyed her when she is on her own. This is a good chew but would not keep a growing energetic puppy amused for long if she did not have other chews in her play area (our kitchen). I would not recommend any puppy to be left for long periods of time with just a few Kong products. This should be bought in combination with other 'chews', reconsituted bones and dried pigs ears. A combination of Kong and other products certainly keeps her from eating chair and table legs. I still have not found the 'goodies/treats' made by Kong to put into the ends of the Goodie Bone - please can someone advise me where to buy them? I did buy the can of Kong cream to put into her other Kong Goodie cone shaped toy (bouncy too - which makes it more fun to play with ). Variety in chews is important and Kong products are very well made and will not flake or crumble and get caught in her throat or her tummy - so yes I would advise this as a good product to buy. It would keep her quieter if she had a goodie stuck into the slots either end of the bone. I bought the black medium size and it will last for ages. Thank you Amazon for your quick delivery.

I love this chew bone. I may even love it more than my dog. You can literally fill it with anything you are willing cram into it and then just sit back and watch your pooch get all excited and frustrated as they try to get the goodies out.I have had this since my collie x german shepherd was around 3 months old so over a year now and its in perfect condition.I fill it with lots of different stuff depending on what i have at the time. I've seen me putting peanut butter, Primula cheese, carrots, mashed potato, biscrok biscuits, tuna, you name it its probably been in there. As he has gotten older though i must admit he seems to have it sussed as before he would take maybe 40 minutes to empty itbut now its more like 10.I highly recommend this KONG bone and any other KONG toy for that matter as i have a few of them now and none have fallen apart.I would also recommend the chuckit ultra balls to anyone with a dog with a ball fixation, you can find my review of that on my profile. If you know of any other good dog toys, chews or accessories please let me know in the comments section of this review as i am always on the look out for stuff for my boy.

I bought this in a size small for my Chihuahua/Italian Greyhound mix. She's about 13 pounds and has a delicate frame. I have a ton of toys for her corgi buddy that she can't or won't play with and I was looking for something that wouldn't get destroyed if the chew monster corgi got a hold of it. This is definitely not a "regular" Kong in that it's not indestructible. I think if I let my corgi have it, she would have the ends off in about 10 minutes. Maybe the large one would work for the corgi. We have several other Kong toys for the corgi that work well for her.But it's great size for the Chi. She loves it and prances around with it when she's not chewing on it. I am able to put size Petite C.E.T.Hextra dental chews in the end and keeps her happily chewing for much longer than just handing her the chew. I have to squeeze the ends a little to get the chew in, but that helps hold the chew in place. We actually have to push it out again when she just can't reach the last bite, but that's ok.Highly recommended as long as it's size appropriate.

So this is actually about the 5th one of these I have purchased. Not because she destroys them, but because she loves them so much and I get sick of trying to find them around the house/yard when I put her in her crate. Our dog is an INSANE chewer. I have tried nearly every dog toy I can find that says "Great for powerful chewers" or "Indestructible", etc. She always finds the weak spot within minutes and starts pulling chunks off of every toy. So much so that one toy indestructible manufacturer actually sent us additional toys for free as a test subject. She destroyed them in minutes, so they gave up! :)However, she LOVES these bones, and only after MONTHS of aggressive chewing do they start to deteriorate. In fact, I think most of it is due to the fact that she drops them in the chlorinated pool or leaves them in the hot Arizona sun in our yard that they start to deteriorate at all.I hope Kong never stops making these as she loves them and they truly are one of the only toys I can safely give my wonderful dog.

Kong. The name of choice for sanity-preserving puppy owners. If you have a dog, and especially a puppy, the mere thought of a Kong product provides instant relief. I’ve got several Kong products and they’ve not let me down yet.The Kong Treat Bone is made of their hardest rubber so has the greatest chance of standing up to the most playful of pup. There is hole through the centre at either end of the bone into which you can stuff a treat or two. As with all Kong treat toys it’s advisable to use some kind of paste or soft food to help wedge the treat into the toy. I recommend soft cheese (cheap supermarket stuff is fine), peanut butter (essential to make sure it doesn’t contain Xylitol as it’s poisonous to dogs….Sun Pat and Skippy don’t use that so should be safe)or Kong’s own spray-on paste.Once you’ve given the dog their bone they’ll spend many enjoyable minutes fishing out their food from inside. The bone doesn’t hold as much food as some of Kong’s other toys, but hey it’s a bone. The pooch will love it!

I bought this for my corgi puppy and was disappointed because it didn't seem well suited to the Kong treats. So, like many other toys, it got put aside and forgotten. He absolutely loves to chew on bully sticks (we feed him less kibble so that he can have a bully every evening). In fact, he loves them so much, that one night, he forgot to chew the darn thing, and he swallowed, WHOLE, an 8 inch bully stick. He spent the night at the emergency vet - fortunately he digested it fine, but it was really scary! So, I started putting bullies through the regular Kong toy, and it worked great - Puppy could chew the bully just fine, but there wasn't any danger of swallowing it whole. But it was such a pain to clean. There was always a little nub left in the toy and it was so g-r-o-s-s.Finally I remembered that I had this bone, and it's perfect! Again, no danger of the dog swallowing the bully whole, and waaay easier to clean than the regular Kong toy. The small is the right size for bullies. Highly recommended!

My mid-size Chihuahua loves the Kong bones and this is a perfect size for him, but he mostly loves them because I put a bit of low-fat peanut butter in each of the holes for a morning treat. Neither he nor my large dog (with a much larger Kong bone) chew on them beyond licking out the PB, but it's a great way to give them this treat and keeps them busy for quite a while. If you should try this, give them the bone outside or on an uncarpeted floor as it can make a bit of a mess. As well, because they lick around the ends every day, the outside covering gradually wears away (takes quite awhile, but it does happen), so when the bone starts to feel sticky, I replace it with a new one. For that reason, when you find them at a good price, it's a good idea to order several at the same time. I also only buy things Made in the USA or Canada for my dogs which these are, but some of the Kong products are made in China, so you have to confirm that on each one, if that's of concern to you.

We walk a friend's ten month old German Shorthaired Pointer and would like to have a break for a coffee or meal after fifty minutes then walk him for another fifty or so - he's off the lead during these walks and is racing to fetch the ball so gets lots of exercise. Unfortunately he hates these brief breaks and will tear up the yard of an outside cafe or tear up boxes of tissues and cushions if he is in the house. I bought him this Kong and we stuffed it with dog treats. He was totally absorbed for fifteen minutes then started going crazy and we found that he'd eaten the treats so we put in another one. (The packet said that a dog his size could have two a day.)I'm going to buy some peanut butter and put it in the Kong and freeze it as apparently this slows down how quickly the animal can extract the food. I bought a stag antler for another dog that we walk but he absolutely hated it so I had some trepidation about the Kong. Fortunately it has been a great success!

I comes wrapped in strong card with a very thick plastic tie attaching everything together. It took a pair of sharp scissors and a bit of perseverance to get the bone free.Once it was free I was pleased how well small milk biscuit bones and dental chews fit inside the holes at each end. The tight fit made it really hard for my dog to get to her goodies. She soon learnt to bash it on the floor and spent ages sniffing out every scrap. It kept her occupied for almost an hour - the biscuit bones don't last as long but are still quite a challenge.I'm also pleased that she enjoys playing with it even when there are no treats inside. It is slightly wobbly if you hold it at one end and she spends quite a lot of time tossing it in the air, pouncing on it and shaking it to make sure it's dead. This is a very tough bone, my pup has some fearsome jaws on her but she is not getting through this yet. I'm hopeful this will be as long lasting as her other Kong toys.

I was a little hesitant since both my dogs (Bullypit and also a Rottweiler puppy) wont touch the regular or black kongs unless they are stuff with treats. I was hoping since this was shaped like a bone it would be different and not sit in the toy box with the other kongs. I was right! I put treats in the ends to make sure they were interested and even once the treats were gone they were carrying this around the house like it is the greatest thing ever, continuing to chew and play with it. It provided hours of "quiet time" during the Thanksgiving holiday weekend so that already was completely worth it! The sound is a little odd with them chewing on it since it's the squeaky rubber sound, however it's much nicer than the nylabone or antler sound plus safer for their teeth! They have been chewing on it all weekend and while there are a few dents, no major sign of wear and seems to be holding up perfect. I will be buying more for sure!

I've purchased many unbreakable super sturdy chew toys for my two 45 pound pit bulls - one girl, one boy. The girl will chew but not demolish and the other will chew and try to eat pieces of every toy he gets ahold of. We've had to remove almost all chew toys since our boy dog will try to swallow pieces of chew toys. Very dangerous as we unfortunately already discovered. We have some chew toys that have held up okay but they are hard plastic and don't hold interest for very long. Laredo Loves this bone and has not yet been able to destroy it in the two months since I purchased it. It is hard rubber but soft enough to provide enough give to feel like they're chewing. He will lay down and chew for at least 30 minutes at a time. There are holes at the ends to allow treats but we haven't used it for that yet. I recommend this bone if your dog is a strong chewer or prone to chewing and swallowing pieces of toys.
