My dog has been obsessed with fetch since she was a pup. She will play for over an hour straight, each time retrieving the ball with as much fervor as the first. She’s in great shape because of it. We’ve used many balls over the years, tennis of course ( very difficult to clean) and various purpose-made ones as well. But with fall approaching, I knew we were going to have to get something to play in the dark or we’d have to curtail out early morning play. So we tried a couple light up balls. They were fine, but soon destroyed or stopped lighting up. We tried a glow ball, but it didn’t light up well, and had absolutely no bounce (who makes a dog ball that doesn’t bounce?).Then we landed on the Chuck It glow ball and what a wonderful toy!First off the glow is pretty bright, it’s lit up pretty good for half an hour. Heck, I’ve seen it in the middle of the night, still glowing from the minimal charge it gets from room lights the night before. Leave this out as a night light to get your bearings. It gets a little bit difficult to see in the air at sun rise, but I can always see it once landed.Second, it’s durable. My little girl is tough on her toys and she’s yet to even make a dent on this ball. However we do reserve it for fetch time only. She can tear the old tennis balls up when she’s running around the house. Also, The Chuck It ball has a couple of holes in it and they make a hollow whistling sound when thrown into the air. I swear my dog uses that whistle as she running to figure out which way the ball is going. She takes off in the general direction I’m tossing, listens for the whistle and makes a course adjustment till she she’s it on the first bounce. Projected landing spot locked in, the ball often doesn’t see a second bounce. Bam! Caught mid air. It’s kinda cool to see this green glowing globe against the darkness of the park bounce once and then disappear. Only to see the glow come bouncing back at you as the dog dutifully brings it back. Actually, it’s Very cool.Speaking of which, it’s got a really nice bounce to it. And it fits the chucker perfectly, has a nice release too,Lastly, it’s so easy to clean up. Just a quick rinse at the park drinking fountain, it’s good to go for the next adventure.I’ve no problem finding this ball in the day time either, even though is a pale green, like much of the park grass. Maybe because it’s got a bit of a sheen to it.So, add it all up, and I think this is pretty much the perfect dog fetch ball. The only thing I’d change it to make it glow blue. Dogs can see blue better and it stands out against green grass.

I purchased this ball along with a few LED 'kinetic' balls and when it arrived was positively disappointed as was looking for something a bit more solid to hit with a baseball bat for my ball loving lab and something a bit more bight . It's now 4 months down the road and I have come to love this ball more than any I have purchased. The kinetic balls lasted about 2 - 4 weeks before they gave up and others were just chewed to death.Firstly on the down side, for my daily use, it's quite light so when hitting with a bat it doesn't get the distance of the heavier rubber balls (70 - 100 meters or so across a field). Also as many of the reviews have pertained, the glow does not beat an LED but if left under a lamp for a bit,is certainly very visible as a 'brighter' object on the ground. It does take about 20 minutes or so to fade but never seems to completely lose its glow during the night. This makes it great for round the house as you spot its faint glow in the dark, if like me, too many coffee's during the day can result in a twisted ankle in the middle of the night. This ball really comes into its own in the house as it is light enough not to cause damage but robust enough to withstand a good chew. Its is made of tough rubber about 10mm thick and though sturdy, it collapses as the dog chews, retuning to its original shape with a snap as the jaws are relaxed. Because there is quite a bit of effort needed to get near to squashing it, our dog can't 'chew' it as such, just exerciser her jaw. The ball (large) is nice and big, bigger than a tennis ball so no danger or swallowing and there is noting to get a chew purchase on so it never seems to get torn apart. We foster dogs between homes as well has have dogs stay in our house and of all our toys this is the only one to survive thus far, and we have tried or been given a few. Though not cheap, it's certainly is worth the money and a 5 star. Finally a top tip: I purchased one of those cheap flashing bicycle arm/leg straps and shove it inside the ball, the lights are well protected, won't fall out, and the ball, because it is semi see-though can be seen flashing just like an LED ball. Once finished just pull the strap out.

MY DOGS LOVE THESE BALLS!!! i have a little Cairne poodle cross called Meg. She doesn't know she is small and likes to play as hard as the boys. These balls whistle quietly but distinctly when thrown with or without a chucker so the dogs can hear them passing overhead or past their ear and they love it. My boy Bob likes football as they are supremely rubbery and easy to kick a fair distance with a light tap. Despite being so bouncy they are none the less robust and none of ours have either split or got chewed into chunks, which is always a bonus. YES the larger ones are a lot more expensive than your average tennis ball but ALL of ours have survived 2 winters and summers without being misshapenor damaged even by our rubber ball obsessed Labradoodle with a pair of gnashing jaws like a crazed hyena on steroids (which he is with Addisons disease).I leave mine on the dashboard through winter so on the way to our daily walks they are charged up and ready to glow should the shorter nights be catching me out and we are trotting about in the park. They glow just enough to make the obvious and even it the day time, overcast or foggy they stand out as a greeninsh white against the grass. If you take them to the woods they are easily found amongst branches or bracken because of their luminosity which is just enough to always spot them. So far I've only lost one out of 7 different sized balls purchased.I don't care about playing ball in the house, within reason we bounce these ones around the kitchen or down the stairs on rainy days to give the pooches some stimulation as they are all highly intelligent and hate laying around hour after hour. I have a spare set in a draw for an evening play time, we fetch the balls with great excitement and bounce them around the house for a bit, then they get a biscuit and they lay down happily for the rest of the night.Whoever designed these balls just loves dogs, and I love their balls! My apologies for turning this review into a blog but i can't like them more than five stars which is frustrating.

Before purchasing this I looked at a number of illuminated balls for dogs and was dismayed by the reviews of balls that use batteries and leds to provide light, with owners complaining of failure within a few days after the balls had been subjected to day to day 'rough and tumble' by the dogs, chewing, moisture, saliva etc, causing failure.I took the chance on one of these balls, given that I use an incredibly powerful torch (LED LENSER X21R) for dog walking every day/night during Winter months, and could use this to make the ball glow for a short period. The result - very very happy dogs - 2 Labrador pups who are approaching 8 months old now and growing fast. They have managed to tear a lot of the existing tennis balls to pieces and wanted something that could be clearly seen at night. The ball is very hard wearing and has been through a lot in the last couple of weeks, it was am immediate success, with the two dogs constantly trying to steal the ball of each other, so much so, that another ball was ordered today ! They definately seem to be attracted to the ball's glow !The ball glows bright green once charged and can be seen for a huge distances, inc long grass. other dog owners have commented on the ball, and seem very interested in it ! The glow lasts for a good few minutes, but we constantly 'recharge' it from the torch on each throw. Whereas regular tennis balls may have become lost on the odd nightly walk, this ball has proven easy to locate every time.So far the ball has been used in all weathers and shows no sign of stress or daamage after being used on long walks twice a day, most of the time being in one of the dogs mouths, and often the case, other dogs that we meet on the daily walks !One other pleaing 'side effect' of the ball...it makes a super whooshing sound when thrown, on account of the holes in the ball. No problems with mud etc, ball is wipe clean and zero maintenance basically. All in all, HIGHLY RECCOMMENDED to all medium to large breed dog owners !!

Just received this the other day and love it. I placed it under a light before I went out and it glowed like a champ. I have no idea how long it will stay glowing, but I was outside for about twenty minutes throwing it for my dog, and it stayed bright the entire time. When I was done, I washed it off and placed it under a light again so when I went out later it would still glow bright. I saw some complaints that the ball did not glow for very long, but why someone would want this product to stay bright for hours, as throwing a ball for the dog is only about twenty minutes worth. The brightness was perfect and my dog had no problems following, finding and catching the ball. Even when it went in the shrubs,my dog was able to find it. This is a great product for people with high drive dogs that need some energy release late at night, or at least when the sun is down. This ball is firm but not hard, so it will not damage the teeth. And when launching it, it makes a weird warbling whistle that is kind of neat. For an unsuspecting onlooker, it looks and sounds like what one would expect from a UFO. I cracked up the first time I used it wondering what my neighbors were thinking seeing a round, glowing, warbling sounding thing go flying across the field. This is also big enough that I do not worry about my dog getting it stuck in his throat. When it is wet, it adds extra amusement because most of the time when my dog tried to catch it, it would snap out of his mouth, thus relaunching it for an additional several feet. Sometimes this would happen three or four times (snap-launch, snap-launch, snap-launch).Great product, and I recommend for night use.FYI-this product is large enough for what I consider medium dogs (up to 75 pounds, or heavier smaller dogs like rotts, or German shepherds). For big dogs, Danes, St. Bernard's, over the hundred pound mark, tall and with big heads, this ball would be for them like a regular tennis ball is to Labs, shepherds, etc.

We have an AmStaff/Weimaraner mix puppy who's about to turn 1. We have tried several different toys over the past several months raising this guy and the rubber ChuckIt balls are TOPS for a pup that constantly has to have something in his mouth. He tears stuffed animals apart so the only other type toy we let him chomp on are nylabones (and antlers). It's nice to have an alternative toy that's softer on his teeth when he just wants to keep moving those jaws :) without the fear of him tearing it up and swallowing pieces.(We also have the large blue and orange ultra ball http://www.amazon.com/Chuckit-Ultra-Ball-Medium-2-5-inch/dp/B000F4AVPA/ref=pd_sim_petsupplies_1 and the large green erratic ball. You would swear the ultra ball should be in the garbage by now after 7 months of daily chomping, but nope, it doesn't even have a crack. I think the secret is that it has a tiny pin size hole in it, to allow air to escape when the dog closes his jaws. Our pup carries it around constantly in his mouth with his chompers going as if he was chewing on a toy marshmallow! He even just lays there chomping on it. It's like Maggie Simpson and her pacifier.)Unlike the Ultra, this glow ball and the erratic ball do have dime size holes in them top and bottom, but I don't see any evidence of cracking in the rubber around the holes or anything yet (going on a couple months). We thought maybe he might tear them up because of the holes, but nope, he chomps on them just the same as the ultra.I can't speak for other breed types, but if you have a puppy in the pit family and are desperate to satisfy its craving to chomp on something, don't hesitate to go for any of these three. The glow factor is cool, yea it wears off a little faster than you would like if that's what you bought it for specifically...but we didn't care about that as much as its durability. If you need to take it out in the dark, I'd leave it sit under a lamp for a couple hours.

We just lost our original Max Glow Ball in the forest undergrowth around our house and my dog is beside herself. I've immediately ordered an overnight delivery replacement, and a normal delivery backup--I suggest keeping one in reserve.First, I'm a late comer to the Chuckit system, but my dog and I love it. I have to limit the number of times I chuckit for her because she would run herself to death retrieving if allowed. The tennis ball that came with it was too gross with post-chase slobber though, and when I saw the Max Glow Ball (2.5") I ordered one--it cleans up very easily under running water. What an overall positive change in my dog! First, now no other balls interest her, only this one! She's a 90 pound Rottie and nothing but an extra large Kong Extreme has been able to withstand her jaws. After retrieving it, she does a kind of rapid, squishing chew on it, but she never grinds on it. Initially, I only let her play with the Max Glow Ball under supervision and would then take it away from her, fearing she'd destroy it in 20 seconds unsupervised. After a few weeks of supervised play, I let her have it inside once during the day, when I just couldn't take her outside because of work/school deadlines. At first she was protective of it every time I went by her, but by the end of the day she finally figured out I wasn't going to take it. Since that day, she has become, for the first time, a truly mellow dog.The glow aspect is a neat feature for dim light conditions--and she looks funny with the glowing ball in her mouth, but the best parts of the Max Glow Ball are the collapsible squishiness that seems to be very soothing to her, and the two holes in the ball that whistle as it is thrown--helping her better track a long throw.I hope your dog enjoys it as much as mine.

My dog Charlie LOVES balls. I bought the standard orange Chuckit and it was his favorite ball. To challenge him, I wanted to see if I could try some different kinds of balls so I ordered these:Chuck it Medium Wheelie Dog BallChuckit! Large Ultra TugChuckit! Medium Evader Dog BallChuckit! Large The Whistler Ball 3-InchChuckit! Medium Rebounce Ball 2.5-Inch, 2-PackChuckit! Erratic Ball, Large, 3-Inch, 1-PackChuckit! Sport 26L Launcher and the Medium LauncherChuckit! Large Max Glow Ball 3-Inch, 1-PackAt it was a big fat THUD. Charlie hated them, I didn't know how to make them work they way they were supposed to work and thought I had wasted my money. But after a week, when I finally started to get the hang of it.The wheelie ball was a hoot. Charlie had never chased anything the like that before and he was totally thrown by it. The erratic ball and the evader started to make sense to him and he started enjoying them as well.I finally got my Launchers and we went to the soccer field to throw the various balls as far as I could throw. Now he loves all of them, but the standard, large Chuckit ball is his favorite. The light blue balls and the whistler is hard for him to see, so we don't throw them very far when we are playing with them.It was interesting to see how he responded to the glow in the dark. Charlie is seven years old and has "EXPECTATIONS" about what a ball is supposed to do. So he was actually shy about playing with it. Sam, our three year old Lab, on the other hand has "NO EXPECTATION" about what a ball is or isn't supposed to do. He loved it! Charlie warmed up to it after he saw Sam playing with it.So all in all, I'd say they were a great addition to our dog toy collection. Can't wait to see what they come up with next.

I had one of these before and don't remember thinking that much of it... but we are outside at night with our three dogs and we were getting tired of trying to spot where these balls are going... the dogs weren't having a lot of luck finding them sometimes too. So, I got these.... and they are pretty awesome. It's actually true...they get a little dimmer (still easy to find after about half an hour)… a short hit in front of your flashlight charges it right back up...and this really glows pretty strong. The dogs and us had no trouble finding this ball. I believe they are enjoying it more because they can so easily follow the ball with their eyes... it does bounce very well... and that's more joy for the dogs.Another crazy thing is that now all three dogs are after it and competing to get the ball. Only one of them really wanted to chase a ball before this one came. The poor littlest dog couldn't pick it up as I ordered a large, but the two larger dogs actually chased each other trying to steal it back and forth. That's a new behavior... the little guy tried so hard to get it in his mouth... He puts up a good fight trying to pick it up, but the other two won't wait and swoop in to steal it right out from under him. So, I have ordered another large one and the two-pack smaller versions. These are just great entertainment at night. All those other balls are destined for the garbage now... I'm sure my dogs won't go back as they are now fighting over it inside the house... It's got a great "feel"... my middle one is gumming it to death hiding in his hidey hole under the bed.

We started with the large orange fuzzy chuck it ball, and my 45 pound, 11 month Goldendoodle liked to chase it. Then we got the orange plastic chuck it ball, which she also enjoyed. But when we pulled out these glow in the dark balls---she LOVES them! I bought them because we're out in the dark or near-dark a lot during the week, and they really are great for playing in those conditions. The whistle feature when you throw them is also a nice touch--both for the dog and the human. But what she really loves about them is how squishy and also how bouncy they are. They're a lot livelier than the solid balls, which makes it more fun to chase and jump and bounce with them outside. And that bounciness also makes it more fun for her to play with them by herself, throwing it up and watching it bounce. She also likes to chew on them more. Someone had written a review about the orange plastic chuck it balls that their dogs like to carry them around and chew them, almost like a pacifier. Well, she didn't do that with the orange ball, but she does with this one. She chews on it, but it has held up well so far, with no signs of wear. Finally, I had seen some balls that were not solid, designed to be easier for the dogs to breathe while they run around with ball in their mouth. Well, I think the holes on each side of this ball kind of serve the same purpose. She carries this one around and runs around taunting us with it more than she does either of the other kinds of ball. That could be because it's easier to breathe, or simply just because she loves this one so much more.

When I take my dog for a walk late evening, I grab the torch and his flashing collar and off we go, his tennis balls and rubber balls get left at home, over the years I have lost too many balls in the dark to justify keep buying them, throwing them at night only for Oscar to run after it, not find it, then get bored and mooch off, ever tried looking for a ball in the dark with a torch in the undergrowth or in the long grass ?? Good luck !I wasn't even aware they sold GLOW IN THE DARK BALLS, I was searching amazon for rubber balls and stumbled upon them ... WOW ! WHAT A FIND !! Let me tell you, when it comes to sceptics, for me seeing is believing,I ordered this thinking it won't be any good but at least I can use it during the day.Let me tell you, THIS BALL GLOWS !! And I mean really glows, strangeley it comes with no instructions, but leave it in a well lit room at least 10 mins before going for a walk and it will last for 30 mins over the woods. Some glow balls on here come with batteries, but why buy a ball that needs batteries replaced every couple of weeks ?? This is a no brainer, get a ball that glows in the dark, is lightweight, VERY bouncy and won't cost a fortune in batteries. If you are the sort of person that buys products based on reviews, BUY THIS, guaranteed you will not be dissapointed, of all the balls I have bought online, this is by far the best, can be used day and night, and the brightness at night really will impress you.YOUR DOG WOULD HAVE TO BE BLIND NOT TO SEE THIS AT NIGHT

I can't recommend this ball highly enough. Here's why:-1. It fits snugly in the ball chucker I bought locally with a free tennis ball (which Dara destroyed in 10 seconds)2. Its perfectly weighted to travel a huge distance, when thrown from the ball chucker, bouncing several times for even greater distance3. Its hollow, so when it lands, it makes a loud 'thunk' which Dara can hear, even if he missed the launch in his excitement.4. Its seems to be indestructible. Dara carried this around and chewed on it for two days and nights, growling if we tried to take it from him. It still looks like new. Bear in mind that this is a dog which can fetch a brand new tennis ball once and it looks like a rugby ball after he's retrieved it.He's destroyed countless tennis balls and even a solid plastic hockey ball - but he hasn't been able to damage the Chuckit at all, despite furious chewing.5. It has two finger-sized holes opposite each other, so when its filling Dara's mouth, he can still breath through the holes.6. It glows green in even dim light let alone total darkness. Whatever causes it to glow, I just hope its not the same carcinogenic stuff they used to apply to Trimphone dials..!This is a brilliantly designed and well thought-out product. So much so, I've bought three. I keep two in Dara's 'down the park' bag - one to tempt him with when he won't drop the first after retrieving it, and a third which he can have full time at home.If you've had enough of balls being eaten in seconds, buy a Chuckit.

Our dog absolutely LOVES this ball. We live in Connecticut, so after Halloween until about President's Day the sun doesn't come up until about 7A, and it's dark by about 5. Which means it's kind of tough to go play fetch with the pup outside.Or, it was until we got this ball. Favorite feature of this ball is that it's got holes in either side. The hole is EXACTLY the right size to put a MAGLITE XL50 or XL200 into (We use the XL200). So, we grab the ball, put it over the end of the flashlight, turn the flashlight on, and stroll down to the park on the leash. By the time we walk the quarter mile to the park, the ball is glowing BRIGHT. Like,so bright that it'll wipe out your night vision even after you turn off the light. The other cool thing that you get from the holes in either end is that the ball makes an amazing "whooping" sound as it sails through the air. So, picture this: you throw the ball in the dark. Bright, shooting star-looking parabola arcs across the winter sky, whooping and whistling gently. Dog tears-butt across the field, and is invisible about 20' away in the dark. The ball bounces a couple times, then starts rolling. Suddenly, the ball jumps into the air, and starts bounding back across the field to you. When it's about 20' away, the bounding ball resolves itself into an insanely happy dog.Protip: Get two balls; that way the dog will happily drop the first one as soon as she gets back and sees the second one.

My dogs LOVE this ball. I have four large dogs who love to play ball but they destroy tennis balls in minutes. I mentioned this to a friend and she recommended this ball. To be honest I was not really excited about spending $5 plus or minus for a ball that I was pretty sure my dogs would also destroy quickly. What a surprise! Opening the box, and seeing it for the first time I was still convinced my dogs would rip it to shreds. The ball is hollow with two holes (one on each of opposite sides) and can be compressed quite a bit in your hand. My dogs don't get to "keep" tennis balls (and even then they bite them in half) but I wanted to see if my dogs could tear this up so I let one of the dogs keep it for a while but he had no success in destroying it.The "large" size is a bit larger than a tennis ball and is fine for my big dogs ranging in weight from 50 to 75 lbs. They glow and it is really funny to see this glowing ball appear to fly to you on it's own in the mouth of a black (invisible) dog. The ball does get a bit slimy and occasionally is slippery enough that it pops out of the dog's mouth, which the dogs LOVE because then they get to chase it. After a few days with the first one, I ordered three more because I wanted one for each dog. They are easy to find in the dark and easy to clean (just rinse off in the sink). They also make a kind of "flying saucer" low whistling noise when thrown. Highly Recommended.

This is new thinking applied to balls specifically for dogs. Firstly my dog loves it. It compresses for him in a very satisfying way giving the right resistance to his jaw muscles. Its bounce and bounce noise characteristics are midway between a ping pong ball and a tennis ball which seems to suit my dogs play preferences. He destroys tennis style dog balls in a couple of throws and skins them in no time at all which has led me to use solid rubber balls which are durable but really quite heavy causing quite a blow if a catch is miss-timed. The Chuckit is quite light so does not jar his teeth and, after 3 weeks of use, remains unmarked. It has slight ridges moulded into it which, combined with its nonslip surface and distortability, means he can grip the ball in all sorts of angles and sometimes gives the impression he is blowing bubble gum. Finally I have tested it in a bucket of water and it does just about float. My dog is very enthusiastic about this ball and my wife says it works well with standard ball throwing thingies. I am as happy as a dog with two tails. P.S. I leave this on a sunny windowsill and it is also illuminated from the spotlight system in my kitchen and yes - it does glow quite strongly in the dark. This is only useful if you go ball chucking in the dark. Only if the wind is right and you throw or kick it quite hard will it whistle. I personally feel these features can be disregarded
