Although I've purchased many other KONG products, I have never tried their teddies and softer toys before. This was bought for a 7 year old Staffordshire Bull Terrier and I am pleased to report that he absolutely loves it, carrying it from room to room. The knotted 'skeleton' which this contains definitely entices play due to the way it simulates natural movement. This really does bring out his puppy-ish side and it's great to see him bouncing around. Play time aside, he loves this so much that he snuggles up in bed with it too. I have to praise the functionality; this is ideal as a soother/anxiety buster but also provides play and stimulation for your four legged friend. The overall quality of construction is high and the fact this is from KONG assures me that it is entirely safe for my boy, although I do have to comment that he is not particularly destructive. He plays with this, chewing, mouthing and carrying it around a lot but he has not attempted to rip it up. If he did, I'm sure it wouldn't stand much chance, but aside the squeaker, I feel KONG have done well in omitting potentially harmful components such as plastic eyes.I have awarded this 4 stars from a possible 5. I would award it 5 stars but really did expect the overall material used to be much more heavy duty. I have another dog who would obliterate one of these in no time. While she is indeed destructive and mouth orientated, I expected a more galvanised construction to combat more zealous canines. If your pooch is more delightful than destructive however, then this should more than meet your needs! If my review has been helpful to you then please take the time to rate it by clicking 'yes' below.

We bought this for our papillon puppy when he was 4 months old. He absolutely adored this bear from day 1 (and a few other soft kong toys, the stretchy fox another favourite) and they held really well through his teething phase, practically intact. I was really impressed, as he managed to damage another soft toy he got as a gift quite quickly.Alas, it seems recently his teeth and/or grip got much stronger (he's nearly 10 months now) as no chew toy, except for the rubber kongs, survives impact. He shreds the rope toys, tennis balls, has done serious damage to an antler he's had for a while... So sadly, the beloved bear lost his ears. Then his back was torn apart (at this point I had to take out quite a bit of stuffing and the squeeker). But Gizmo didn't seem to mind - he still would choose this bear out of many other toys in the basket. Even now, as I tried to take a few pics for this review of the bear's state, he immediately followed me and asked for it.Now, you might wonder if it's okay to let your dog play with a toy damaged like this. Depends on the dog, I guess. Ours is not interested in swallowing any of the bits he chews off, he just spits them out and leaves lying around, so all damage done just awaits hoovering up. I don't mind that too much, so we let him keep the bear - until it's torn to pieces, and replacement arrives. So here we are. The bear is in rather poor form - but is one of the most loved toys, and whilst the time from purchase to the first "broken skin" (the bear's) is not very long, the overall enjoyment and time of play seems to be worth it. We'll be getting a replacement bear and see how long the second one lasts.

My Labrador is usually more interested in the cardboard tag or packaging of a dog toy. I saw this bear had got some pretty good ratings so I thought “ok let’s add him to our home” (which DID NOT need more dog toys because I swear we already have a lifetime supply.)I expected the usual sniff of the toy and then destruction of the packaging but no. The packaging did not get a look-in. He was ALL ABOUT THIS BEAR. He actually loves this thing, to the point that having had it for several months, he still hasn’t destroyed it, and that he didn’t play with the other toys I’d got him at the same time. He takes his little bear friend to bed with him every night and sleeps with his head resting on the bear.During the day, he throws the bear around and has a great time prentending he’s killing it or something. I thought he’d try to rip it to shreds, but he hasn’t. He is so in love with his bear that she has not chewed it. You’ll often also just find him somewhere around the house curled up with his bear. It’s sturdy enough for a big dog because it has rope in it to give it that extra rigidity I guess. This bear is basically the celebrity of our dog toy basket. If your dog notoriously eat things it might not last long, but certainly more robust than the usual stuffed sort of toy. My Labrador has a habit of ripping apart and de-stuffing cuddly toy type of dog toys but he is 12 years old and completely and totally in love with his bear

My friend got one of these for my staffie.I tend not to buy her soft toys as they usually last about 5 minutes with her. This one....there does seem to be some quality issues - the stitching wasn't done properly (as seen in some of the photos from other users) which lead to it unravelling - particularly at the back of his head and Mr Knottys brains started falling out. Not long after, the same thing happened on his leg and stuffing came out there too. But, a month on (and some emergency sewing), friend has used it as a tug toy with her quite a bit and he now has a hole in his face, his smile is hanging by a thread (well actually, his smile is a hanging thread), hes got punctures in his side,he feels a little rough (from her chewing/drooling on him) and shes reopened his head wound to try get the rope out.....but he's alive! And he still has around 70-80% of his stuffing.Mr Knotty has also became her favourite toy. If anyone visits (I mean anyone - family, friends, neighbours, postman, takeaway guy....you name it), she'll run to the door with her bear to show them the fantastic toy she has (that they're not getting - although she'll let them get close only to turn her head at the last second to put it out of their reach). 5 years Ive had her and nothing could compete with a tennis ball - until that damned bear.Which is why I'm on here, buying another one.

I almost didn't get my dog this bear because I saw several reviews saying it got quickly torn up. After over a week and still NO damage to the bear, I went back to look at the reviews. A lot of them were from people with large dogs and the owner had for some reason ordered the small bear like I did for my little guy. If you have a large dog and they are a strong chewer, this bear (like anything else, especially if it's in any sort of soft material) will not last very long. But it does last a lot longer than any soft toy I ever got for my large dogs. The dog I have now absolutely loves this toy; it's one of his favorites and we play A LOT of tug of war with it. He also has many other toys (all in great condition,as toys are suppose to be thrown away if they are damaged to prevent mess or injury) and I give him several bones a day to curb most of his constant chewing on other items. All in all this is definitely a great product. Like many other products, I've discovered most of the bad reviews are due to people not taking the proper measures (in this case, everything above I mentioned my dog has) or ordering an inappropriate size. I'm glad I went ahead and got this!

I'm so thrilled with getting this bear for my Maltese. The few few complaints I have are, which are pretty minor, that I thought it was a bit bigger than what I got~no big deal, the Squeaker on the bear is very disappointing it's so small and hard for my dog to get to and lastly is I should have ordered more than one for the other dogs in our household!!! We have 12 year old lab, a eight year old Maltese and the newest addition, our daughter's 12 week old black lab puppy. I did order other bigger toys for the lab, yet wouldn't you know it they want this squeaker bear LOL. Especially the puppy. I'm always having to rescue the bear from the puppy for my Maltese, because she is so angry when he steals her bear(& he has so many toys yet he's always swiping her bear- in a way it's funny to watch, but I still feel bad for my Maltese, lol. But other than that this is a wonderful product and I highly, highly recommend it to other customers very adorable and dogs love it no matter their size!! So went to think Amazon for getting to my home so quickly I love Amazon and Amazon Prime. They have a lifelong customer in me and my family.

Doh! Somehow I missed that this bear included a squeaker. Hating squeaky toys, and knowing my Boston Terrier puppy would be more likely to gut the bear if it made a noise, the first thing I did was make a small incision and jab the life out of that squeaker. If you rip the squeaker apart or poke enough holes through it, it will squeak no more. If you're willing to restitch a larger hole, you could remove it entirely. For me, leaving the silenced squeaker in place was fine. The puppy seems to like gnawing on that region too, since it has an unique feel. The second problem ended up being the "cute" square patches stitched all over the bear. I'm not sure what they were thinking with those. The patches are stitched on with easily severed thread! After my puppy tore one off (and possibly swallowed it), I immediately removed the rest. The KONG label stitched to the rear is on there pretty good, so I left that as it was. Hopefully it won't be a problem in the future.Besides that, the pup adores this bear, and happily curls up with it to sleep. Mission accomplished!

I got one of these for my dogs for Christmas, along with some other cheap toys. I have three large dogs, and they are notorious for destroying their toys, especially stuffed animals. We actually stopped buying stuffed toys for them a long time ago, as we got sick of coming home to a house filled with stuffing on everything! I always felt bad though, because our black lab always loved having teddy bears til the other two rescues came along, so when I saw these on Amazon for a cheap price, I bought one. I wish I had bought several!! The other toys that I got for my dogs are pretty much destroyed already, and though this now looks ratty, it's still in one piece, without any rips.I'm amazed at how well this had held up! (We got a Kong toy once before, because we were told they were indestructible, but after one day at work, we came home, and there were rubber bits all over the carpet and in my malamute-chow's bowel movements!) These teddy bears are great, and I'm certain I will buying some more again soon. Gotta keep my fur-babies happy! :-)

Gotta love Da Bears. One squeaker for those quiet play times. Throws really well. Reacts well to slobber. Holds up well to tug a war. Love the little patches. Fits right in with the rest of her toys and ready for more patches when the time comes. So far, though, the bear is holding up okay. Only nearly lost its head once, though some quick repair work restored da bear to near perfect health. Were my child an ordinary dog, this toy would have survived much longer before its first casualty, but you just have to know my kid and any toy's limitations. Toys are in danger from its first moment out of the package. You can hear the plastic bag quivering as my kid comes for it, tongue licking chops, ready to see what damage a new toy can sustain. You probably think i have a Rotweiller or something, don't you? But she's a relatively small, border collie sort of dog. Innocent looking. Friendly, you might think. Kind to strangers. But i tell you... No toy is safe... for long... in our house. But for now, better da bear than da furniture.

This is a surprisingly durable toy, and it's completely adorable. Puppy loves it, too. I like that the design kind of gets ahead of the fact that the bear is going to get torn apart a bit. The patch details are a nice touch, though if your pup likes to pull things apart like mine does, those patches aren't going to stick around for long.My puppy loves tearing fur off of stuffed toys - that's in addition to tearing out the stuffing - so I was a bit skeptical about this. Overall, I'm impressed. We play fetch and tug with it, and I let her gnaw on it for a little bit too. The internal rope structure helps it stay intact, which is nice. I just don't let her tear at it. Between the fur and the patches, there's a lot for her to take off and eat. That's no big deal for me; I know that some toys are for supervised play only, and this is one of them.My only real complaint is that the squeaker is small and a little hard to get at. Otherwise, it's a great addition to her toy collection.

I ordered two of these, a medium for my cairn terrier, and an x-small for a Yorkshire terrier pup. As you can see, there's a rather large size difference between the two. Initially I was a little concerned that the x-small was too small, but turns out it was perfect for the puppy, and it seems to be his new favourite toy since most others are much too big for him to play with properly. He's learning to play fetch with it, and has been almost non-stop chewing and pulling at it and it's still in one piece. We gave it to him on Christmas day and he played with it for three hours straight, and apparently continued to do so once we'd gone home. The cairn, with the bigger of the toys, loved his too, although he is much older and was much more gentle with it. However it was still good for some tug of war with him, and the rope skeleton in it makes it feel very sturdy.Great toys for pups and older dogs, equal enjoyment with them from a 5 month old pup and a 13 year old dog.

My dog is WILD about this toy! He loves the texture of stuffed toys, but he tears them up so fast! Fluff everywhere! Decimated squeakers are not fun to step on, either! But this toy is very strong. The only fluff is in the nose. The rest of the body is "stuffed" by a skeleton of sorts, and that skeleton is made of durable rope, like those flossy chews. He can whip it back and forth, play tug games with me, and play fetch with this toy. He never gets tired of it! Rowdy gives it a good workout every day, and it's holding up fine! Note: He does not spend a lot of time trying to rip the nose off, pull off ears, or chew the ends of the paws. He chews on the legs and arms in the middle and the torso.A strong chewer would probably rip the face right off, as it is fluff inside. The ears would be a good grabbing point. If my dog ever does manager to rip it open, I will simply sew it up again. (I have a 1 year old Australian Shepherd, which breed has an excess of energy.)

The large bear has popped up as an Add-on item for about $3.50 several times, so I have gotten two for my dogs (Collies). For this price, it is a steal. One bear was gray, the other tan. Both bears are still doing well after months of play. We tend to use it as a tug, where one dog gets a limb and the other pulls another limb. No rips or tears yet - we play tug for ~5 minutes a couples times a day.One dog likes to hold the bear gently in his jaws and make it squeak over and over for several minutes. Squeaker still squeaks like new after much of this abuse. My dogs do not get unsupervised play with toys, so they do not get the opportunity to sit with a toy and rip at it. My dogs tend not to be big chewers, either, so that probably helps with longevity. One issue is the sticker that comes stuck on its chest - it rips out a few furs but it's not a deal breaker. Maybe Kong should revisit putting stickers on stuffed plush toys; it's clearly a bad idea.

Well made, squeaks fine and you can feel the internal rope knots. It's much smaller than I anticipated. I ordered the Large size thinking it would be fine for my Golden Retriever. My fault for not researching the size further. My dog loves stuffed toys and figured this would surely be a favorite. It's not and I assume it's due to it's small size. My dog likes to nurse and cuddle with his stuffed animals and this one is just too small for that. However, he does pick this one up and squeak it and toss it around. It is better made than any stuffed animal I have bought for him in his 11 years of life. I will look at other stuffed Kong toys to see if I can find a larger stuffed toy.I have a Kong rubber toy on a rope from 22 years ago from a previous Golden Retriever. It's still a favorite after all of these years. I had no idea that Kong made stuffed toys. Wish I had shopped Amazon sooner for stuffed toys.

I bought this toy for our dog after seeing it in Petsmart one evening. Our dog loves carrying around stuffed animals for fun, and wore out his previous toy through tug of war and breaking the squeaker. Once we found the Kong toy with rope as the inside, we figured it would be a perfect alternative for him! The squeaker however, did not last very long, I believe he had it broken within a few days of use. On the lighter side, the toy hasn't shown any wear or tear through his tug of war games. Our dog has never really liked playing tug of war with just rope toys, and preferred stuffed animals as his toy choice. We received the brown bear through our purchase, but figured sacrificing the bear color for the money savings was a no brainer!I will definitely be making another purchase of this bear if this current one wears out. Currently he has had it for a few months and it is still going strong!
