As more of a smokey Islay fan, this wouldn't normally be in my wheelhouse. But there seems to be a lot of whisky snobs on Amazon, and I don't want to be one of them. As such, overall, pleasantly surprised. Quite smooth, warming, a reassuring little whisky kick at the end. When you get it working on the tongue, I am no expert, but definitely some vanillay sweetness there, but subtle. Overall I would, and will, buy this again. One final thing, the bottle it comes in is an absolute gem. When you serve, it's like you are pouring from a decanter. My partner found it so attractive, she repurposed it with coloured sand for the kitchen....looks lonely, better get her another bottle !

Yes, I like the Cardhu Gold Reserve very much. In my top 3 favourites, but at 1, 2 or 3 is hard to say."A smooth character with deeper, richer flavours of baked apple, orchard fruit and toffee. Beautifully balanced with round, mellow and sweet flavours. Perfect for sharing on a special occasion." is the description on the Cardhu website, but "sharing", sorry no. Much too nice to share. Some whisky drinkers would not buy it as it has no stated age, silly. There are many superb whiskys that have no stated age and some terrible ones which boast 10 or 12 years on the label.A lovely relaxer, makes me feel content and at peace with the world. What more could one ask for.

The Cardhu distillery is the only one in Scotland to have been started by a woman, and it produces (in my humble opinion) some of the finest most delicate flavoured of the Malt Whiskys. I normally go for a much smokier flavoured Malt, but have a soft spot for this superb whisky. It has a lovely golden colour and is very smooth, even without the addition of a drop or two of water to open it up.The flavour is delicate and mellow, there is also a sweetness to it.If you do not like smokey whiskeys but do like smooth, mellow ones that have a sweetness to them this is the one to go for.

I bought my first bottle of this the other day as a Christmas present for my partner and myself.it won't be the last bottle we will be buying for sure.We both love it, I would go as far as saying its my new favorite whisky I think I like it a bit too much!It has a lovely smooth and interesting quite complex taste, I like whisky from the Speyside area must be the water or some thing but this really does top the others I have tried.I like it either neat or with a little water, I think its a real treat and a drink to really enjoy.

I was recently given a bottle of this for my birthday. My normal choice is something like an 12/15/18yr old Glenfiddich. This really impressed me upon my first taste. To me, it had some qualities of the 18 yr Glenfiddich but, without the lasting palette. It is smooth and honeyed, and I was staggered when I saw that you could get it for just £25 per bottle! That's seems amazing value for something that I would happily drink if I didn't have one of the Glenfiddichs available.

I am not a regular whisky drinker or a whisky connoisseur and my two favourite whiskies are Cardhu Gold Reserve and Dalwhinnie 15 y.o. or the Winter's Gold. They are both a good introduction to whisky for people who have not tried it before and for regular drinking(!) They have lovely honey and caramel flavour notes, no smokiness or antiseptic style phenolic tastes which put a lot of people off. Delicious and good value for money when they are on offer at £27 instead of £40.

Beautiful bottle, smooth whisky, great for sharing, did I say nice bottle? I know it's a bit weird but we all do it, we judge a booze by the bottle, we know its not all about the bottle but i like this one. The nice wooden stopper adds an extra level to it. The whisky though?! Smooth, easy going and too damn easy to go down. Worth a buy for yourself or as a gift. The price drops on here fairly often as well as in Morrisons. Buy at 25 ish. Well worth it.

After ordering the cardhu gold reserve. On offer at a great price on Amazon of £25 it's the first time I have had this very nice and now my favourite whisky. Smooth as silk and the taste has a rich full body flavour. My father in law was so impressed he to thinks it's one of the best if not the best. We have been trying different single malts in the past few months. And looking forward to more of this when it comes on offer again.5 out of 5 no problem

Having recently received a bottle as a gift, I have just bought another bottle. At £25 this is great value. The whiskey is smooth and easy drinking, with something of a burnt nut after taste. I could easily drink far more than is health, it's that nice to drink. Considering I normally go for something like a 12, or preferably 18 Yr old, Glenfiddich, this makes a cheap substitute. If you like a smooth, easy drinking dram, I highly recommend this.

Very nice, Iv been trying various whiskeys and bourbons. I'm only 27 and I'm really starting to get into single malts after dabbling in blends and bourbons. This was an impulse buy purely because of the reduced. price. But to be honest I would pay full. Very nice flavour and a good kick. If I'm honest I prefer this to the likes of chivas regal. On another plus, it's a damn fine looking bottle.

After reading many reviews on different malt whiskies I decided on this one as a Father's Day gift for my Dad. He is extremely happy with it and says that there is only one problem 'you don't want to stop at one glass!!!' He said that it is very smooth with a slight oak flavour. He's already put it on his Christmas list. A big thumbs up from him and he definitely recommends it.

The stars are in relation to this being priced at £25. This represented value. Its a nice standard speyside. Honey, fruit and biscuits. The toffee apple note is definitely there too. Enjoyable, steady finish. Nothing particularly special but the speysides aren't my personal favourites. To me, anything above £30 starts to offer poor value, but under £30 is a nice buy.

My dad originally bought this for us to share from Spain. Having never heard of it before, let alone trying it, we were quite excited about what to expect.Move on a year and I can definitely say that this is both mine and my dad's favourite whisky. It's great, very smooth and has a unique taste. At £25 it's a no brainer. I bought 6 last time!

Bought this for my whiskey loving dad for Christmas as I had seen it before and he loves trying new whiskeys, and thankfully it paid off, I can only give his comments but he was very happy with it and was amazed when I told him what I paid for it as he thought it tasted like whiskeys costing over £100 that he has had before.
