Nitty Gritty first: This is not a good buy over £30 which is the normal MSRP. There are better bourbons too enjoy at this price (Woodford Reserve). However, when it's discounted to £26 and £22 it is a very nice bourbon. At £22 it should be an instant purchase as it is vastly superior to the budget bourbons out there. There is no alcohol-harshness you get with JD or JB and unlike mass-market bourbons it actually has quite an interesting personality. That personality comes from its high rye content. If you are unfamiliar with American whisky, then as a general rule bourbons are flowery and sweet, ryes are muscular. Bourbons are generally a mixture, but unlike most Bulleit has a relatively high rye content. If you drink it neat, without ice, which is always the best way to judge a whisky's character first time, then you taste the traditional flowery sweetness of a good, standard bourbon first and then after a while you suddenly experience a strong wall of Schwarzenegger-like flavour: the strong, purposeful, even determined push of the rye. Because of it's peculiar makeup, at £30 plus Bulleit's pushy personality may put you off, it is a frontier whisky after all. You may expect to be pampered at £30 or even get a pedicure, Bulleit will not do this. However, when discounted, this is a great buy and with ice, that high rye content becomes a plus as it overcomes the simplifying effects of the ice-cube induced cold on the taste-buds. If you see it at £26 or £22 send out a posse and get one.

I was first introduced to Bulleit by the Barman in the exec lounge at a Hilton Hotel after a business meeting, I asked about my usual bourbons and they brought this out for me.I wasn't sure at first I was going to like this. It smelled sickly sweet, I've had my nose broken a few times I'm not too good with smells, so I didn't let this put me too much. This is a sweet, savoury taste, honeycomb maybe, not just honey its more rounded, I can just make out vanilla, then pepper, black pepper I think, I didn't get the nutty creamy pralines that I have heard others talk about, nor the woody taste.I have this on cubed ice, the little bit of water helps open this up.It works well with diet coke,so if you want a long drink but watching the calories (bourbon isn't your drink :P) but diet coke not being too sweet levels this out nicely.I also think being sweet this would work well with bitters, or dry gingers and would be excellent to cook ham with. I could totally see this working well with salted caramel and bourbon with a nice ham. This is def in my top 5 "reasonably priced" bourbons.

Beautiful. I've had better bourbons, but not without paying a good £10 more or so minimum, and it's still close. Bulleit has a high rye content compared to most bourbons, giving it a rather unique taste. It's got a little less kick than most of its peers in terms of alcohol content for a whisky, but makes up for it with excess flavour. It's bold, it's spicy, with a lingering sweetness. It may not be for everyone, but if you like flavourful bourbon you at least should give it a try. And if you love it, try their 95 Rye, which for around a fiver more has a hugely upped rye content (from 28% of the mash being rye to 95%!) making it even punchier, to the point that I can't drink too much in one sitting.Basically, this has become my go-to bourbon when I want something for the weekend, aren't buying something cheap to mix with coke, but can't afford to break the bank on something luxurious. It's just good, and unique enough that I'd recommend any bourbon fan give it a shot just to experience something new.

I enjoy a wee dram of good scotch whisky several times a week, and I like to ring the changes, all the way from a peaty Islay like Laphroaig on the one hand, to an aged sweet Speyside sherry cask on the other. This bulleit bourbon is very much like the latter, but without the sickly sweetness of, say, Jack Daniels. Think a higher strength but super smooth version of Aberlour 10 with the merest but not overpowering hint of caramel and you won't go far wrong. Best of all, there is absolutely no ethanol overtone to detract from the simple pleasure of sipping a frankly superb American answer to good scotch. At £22 Bulleit Frontier 45% represents remarkable value and comes highly recommended by this reviewer.Personally, well my preference is to sip it neat. if I want a scotch to drink on the rocks, I usually head for Chivas, Monkey Shoulder, Jameson, or Tullamore Dew. And that this is more or less the same price as those blended whiskies is little short of amazing.

This is a lovely bourbon and great value at £20 (which it goes down to often). It's great for mixing and also good for sipping. This is a whisky that definitely has a planned style to it, which all comes together well. The rustic bottle design and name 'Bulleit Frontier' whisky conjure up images of dusty bars in the Wild West. The flavour fits right in with that image too - at 45% ABV it gives a certain kick and the high rye content (~28%: about the highest of any mainstream bourbon) give it a spicy 'sting'. That all comes together to give a very coherent package which works well. Mine even came with a neat 'Lewis bag' for crushing ice for cocktails (see picture), though that was a special edition. Why only 4 stars?Well, for me whilst this is a good bourbon (especially if you like the 'high rye' style) I feel there are others that taste better in the price range. Taste is subjective of course, but for a similar price I'd give the edge to these -

as a seasoned bourbon drinker (indeed I only drink bourbon and nothing else) I have to admit that this one somehow slipped through the net. It is, for the price, quite a stunning little drink. very pleasant on the palate and just as delicious straight as it is with ice or boiling water. a real warmer of a bourbon with a bit of a bite on first sip just to remind you that you are playing with the big crowd now. very pleased with my buy and will be looking to pop back for a few replacements very soon. I have a collection of bourbons and this is certainly a bottle that has been added to my collection for easy sippin when I dont want to break the bank. highly recommend this to anyone starting off as a bourbon drinker.for those of you who are bourbonistas you will know that once you learn to appreciate a good bourbon no other drink comes anywhere close to giving you the satisfaction.

I've tasted Bourbon's and other American whiskies in my time and thought that none where as good as a Scottish or Irish Malts (I'm Scottish by the way!)That is until now! I saw this drink in my local supermarket and was feeling adventurous so I got a bottle to try it and Boy what a drink, after my first sip I thought well I never expected that lol I was drinking it neat so by my third glass I kept hearing the dueling banjos in my head lol it's so more'ish so anyway I dosed off (or so I thought) around two that same afternoon and woke up at around four'ish thinking I'd caught a couple of hours sleep until that is I discovered it was four'ish the following day lol.......Boy that is good bourbon and now my favourite drink at home as the UK pubs don't stock it!At least not where I live and probably never heard of Bulleit bourbonA matures lol

Normally a Jack Daniels chap but I like to try other brands occasionally. Noticed Bulleit bourbon a number of times on the supermarket shelf but never took the plunge. After seeing this on Amazon at a nice price (fiver under shop price) I decided to finally cross it off my wish list. On the whole this is a very nice mid range bourbon. Nice burnt amber colouring with intense spicy sweetness on the nose with a strong but not overpowering dose of corn and rye. Rather complex taste for a mid range bourbon with spice and sweetness on the front of the tongue, but not overly sweet to the extent of being sickly and hints of vanilla, corn and rye at the rear. Despite its 45% vol it goes down smoothly without any burn or bite.Very similar in taste to Jim Beam (white label) but a lot smoother and with a cleaner finish.

Always been a Scotch drinker.I like a fair few malts, love my smokey Islay whiskys, love the complex Highland whiskys and there's even a few Speysides that I can sit and sip neat.Always though of bourbon as an inferior product, but maybe the smooth sipping of the Speyside tempred the fire I enjoyed from Isaly, and after trying two or three of the usual culprits a friend recommended me this, and after pouring two generous fingers over two cubes of ice and sitting late in the evening after everybody had gone to bed, I spent half an hour with this in the glass, and I must say, every last drop was an oral treat. Since then, I've drank a few 100 proofs, a few ryes, and a few aged bourbons, and they all have merit, but this is almost imposiible to beat at this price or any price. Utterly delicious...

I'm normally a single malt whisky drinker but I've had the odd bourbon and rye whisky when in Las Vegas that's gone down well so I decided to expand my collection at home. Other than some cheap supermarket bourbon which I enjoy with a mixer this was the first one in my sights.Bulleit packs a real punch but does so in a classy way that makes it extremely drinkable neat, or with a solitary ice cube. Bourbon can take an ice cube better than a scotch can but doesn't alway stand up to a dash of water so easily. This makes a great pre-drinks option as it's sure to get you fired up for the night ahead, or alternatively a bottle of this during a game of Texas Hold 'Em is sure to go down well.Just don't blame me when the bottle's empty at the same time as your wallet!

Lovely bourbon - never tried previously but saw it in Sylvester Stallone movie Bullet To The Head where his character only drank this bourbon. I'm not that easily influenced honestly, I did read lots of reviews first and this was considered good quality and nice flavour so I took a chance when there was a Christmas lightning deal promotion on Amazon in December and it had a few pounds off the normal price. Really not disappointed - far nicer than Jack Daniels in my opinion, something I drank too much of in my youth, as it's smoother and more along the lines of a quality malt whisky though taste different of course.Suffice to say I'll need to look out for another offer as I haven't got an awful lot left now Christmas and New Year have gone!

I'm a single malt drinker and the only bourbon I'd tasted was Jack Daniels which I'd found harsh. I bought a bottle of Bulleit bourbon for my sister and was blown away (when we all had a tipple) by the smoothness, the really delightful notes of oak, spice and vanilla.... The oak from the barrels was fresh and vibrant....it had more complexity than I was expecting. Everyone loved it. You can get a real sense of how the old bourbon barrels flavour malt whisky...instead of the nuances of the single malts there is fresh and vibrant wood...it is utterly delightful. This is way too good to be mixed with coke...and at £22 it is going to become a staple for me...with single malts pricing themselvesout of the market....

I really don’t get the reviews that say how ‘smooth’ this bourbon is. It’s it a word I’d use. In my humble and subjective opinion this certainly has the orange zest aroma and palate that others mention but as soon as it hits my mouth it’s a biting, burning mouth party. This biting and burning continues right down the throat. This isn’t a bad thing but it took me by surprise. (Disclosure) my previous favourite bourbon is Jim Beam double oak. In comparison the double oak is silky smooth, vanilla, creamy and frankly uneventful. In summary if you want the whiskey to be your focus.. bulliet! If you want your thoughts and general contemplation to be the focus.. take JB or JD#7 type offerings.

Not much of a whiskey drinker but this has gone done well at parties and has been finished rather quickly. Perhaps not as flagranced as other whiskeys sold by AZ lately but some may prefer it that way.The bottle is nicely designed as in the old days and perhaps would not look too out of place in a western (perhaps without the label though) and will go well with traditional Cola/soda/etc. as sold on AZ. Perhaps get some costumes from Angels and have a full-blown western party ;)Best wait for a deal as the default price is a bit higher than supermarkets but I will definitely get more once it comes on a deal.

It was in a Sly Stallone film called called Bullet in the Head which made me give it a try. You can usually pick this up in the 20 bucks region, granted there are whiskeys with more complexity but I always come back to this drink. Smooth but you can taste the toffee and vanilla with nice spice. This whiskey is high in rye which gives that nice spice kick I find it opens up more with repeated glasses and with this after be very careful not drink the whole bottle. Addictively nice I just love this Whiskey, got some 10 year Bulliet to try! Whiskey is in eye of beholder but this stuff is great!
