I personally think this is the better of the two caskmates range that I have tried to date, the other being an IPA caskmates edition. Not surprising perhaps as I would consider myself a stout drinker, either the popular/commercially branded varieties, such as Guinness, Murphys, Beamish, or craft stouts, chocolate, coffee or variations on those themes. However, while it definitely effects the taste, in my opinion, this is still definitely and discernibly Jameson whiskey.I thought this was a very smooth whiskey, I drank it without water or ice and would not use a mixer with it (as I have done with bourbon whiskeys). Which is how I would recommend anyone buying this at least try drinking it,even if you decide to have it with water or over ice afterwards. Its an excellent drink and I could see it being the perfect accompaniment for an actual pint or glass of craft beer (in this instance a stout), which I know is a fashion among some drinkers too. Recommended.

Jameson has always been one of the few Irish whiskeys i tend to buy as i tend to prefer Scotchs but i spotted this on offer for £17 and payday had just come along so i thought i would buy a bottle. It has been a while since i've had Jameson and i have to admit i love the bottle design, it hasn't changed in a long long time and that sort of trend tends to be seen throughout. Many bottles of whiskey/whisky tend to change over time (usually for the worse) but Jameson is still going strong rocking the taste it has been in keeping with for a long time now.Its exceptionally smooth, easy on the throat and nose and the flavours are not overpowering, they are subtle and lengthy. Its a good, honest to itself, not trying to be anything its not bottle of whiskey. The only reason it isn't five stars is because Amazon put it on a deal for £15 the day after i bought it, come on Amazon, really?

This is the ordinary jameson smoothed out a little. I've always found the original to be a little too alcoholy smelling compared to others from Midleton. With this finished in the stout casks, it leaves a very slight cream taste which beautifully blends out any of the harsher tones. I've noticed a lot of bars now stocking this, so you might want to try a measure before you buy, but at this price, I don't really think that's necessary. Don't be fooled into thinking this whiskey tastes anything like beer, it doesn't. The stout casks rounds the jameson out into something much creamier and mellow.

Jameson is one of my go to whiskeys and I didn't think it would be possible to improve on that smooth, full flavour. I'm happy to be proved wrong because this Caskmates variation takes the fruitiness and slight vanilla cream from the original Jameson whiskey to make it even smoother and with a pleasant floral taste along with a hint of chocolate from the stout.I don't know if I'll go back to the regular Jameson because this is a new favourite. It's definitely one to have in stock to share with friends on St Patrick's Day or any other occasion.

I would suggest anyone who thinks they don't like whisky or wants to try it starts with Jameson. I don't mind the odd bourbon but compared to this, it's very firey and takes me a while to drink (as well as giving me indegestion!) But Jameson is very different. It has an almost buttery vanilla quality and is shockingly easy to drink. A bottle of spirit used to last me months but I get a week or two out of this! I often only realise how much I've had when I wobble up to get another one!Definitely a whisky for everyone.

I tried Teachers, Bells, Famous Grouse, Grants, Bushmills ( not all at once) But the best of all was Jameson unique flavour there is nothing to match it absolutely deliciouse I drank Beer all my 67 years but packed it in because of type 2 Diabetes. Cant take Statins but heard of the benefits of a drop of Whiskey as an aid to dealing with Cholesrol and providing you dont have too much and start pouring it down your ear its anti cancer. Buy yourself a shot glass and the top of the morning to you

We haven't had Jameson Whiskey for quite a few years as we have tended to stick with Scottish brands, both blended and single malt. Purchased a bottle of the Black Barrel during the recent Prime day event and we're really pleased! It is a lovely smooth whiskey, with a slightly sweet vanilla taste, personally I think it is much better than the vast majority of Scottish whisky brands, have now realised what we have been missing out on and so it is now going to be a regular buy.

I enjoy a vast array of malts and whiskeys. But...I always come back to Jamesons. Its not a single malt for those who are snobish about malts, it doesn't have the refinement or elevation of some other brands. But there is a reason its enjoyed the world over. Its quite simply the best everyday Irish whiskey you can buy at an entry price. I always have it on my bar.Nose: marmalade and vanilla fudgePallate: chocolate and apples and plumsFinish: honey and gingerbread

Personally I love the taste of Jamesons, notes of vanilla, oak and toffee. What's not to like. I've had it neat, over ice and in the occasional cocktail. It's never disappointed.I'm a huge whiskey fan and I've spent anywhere from £12 - £120 on a bottle. I can tell you that for the price you're going to be hard pushed to find a better tasting everyday whiskey.I'd highly recommend a visit to the distillery if you get a chance.

I loved the IPA cask version so was keen to try the Stout cask finish whiskey. The subtlety of the triple filtered base spirit is still there but the peat flavours really punch through with the liquorice sweetness of the roasted malt from the irish stout cask which also adds a subtle layer of high cocoa chocolate bitterness that no other whiskey has. A whiskey to be sipped and savoured at a very reasonable price.

For years Jack Daniels has been my staple go to drink. As I get older and less inclined to binge drink I've found that Jameson is the perfect drink. Strong and smooth. this goes down well on a cold winters night with a couple fo cubes to keep it chilled. If I'm in the mood for something sweeter, i can mix this with Disaronno to make a godfather which really hits the spot. The perfect drink to share with company.

Tried it first in Temple Bar and was blown away from the first sip so much so that I ordered a bottle online when I came home. Lovely colour, great nose, really smooth and a mighty fine, sweet bourbon finish to the flavour. I normally drink Scotch and Single Malts but Black Barrel has become a real favourite. If I have one complaint it's that I have never seen it on a pub gantry in Scotland.

My go-to tipple for any occasion.Sweet, subtle flavored Irish whiskey that lends very well to being mixed or very palatable just on its own, over ice or paired with dark chocolate. After trying a number of the limited edition bottles like the "CaskMates" variants - I still always revert to this as my swiss-army-knife spirit.Absolute classic easy drinking Irish Whiskey.

Whiskey below £20 is usually quite nasty tasting, with the exceptions of Haig Club, JD, and this. I got this on offer for £15, and even f it was the regular price of £20 It would still be worth it. Jameson is slightly sweeter than most whiskeys, and a lot smoother. it complimets coke very well and has no chemically after taste you get with other cheap whiskey.

I do love the taste of this whisky more than the smell. I had to google around, but it seems I'm not alone with there being a faint metallic smell in these drams - reminiscent of the inside of a tankard that you'd use for ale. Most people can't smell it though, it seems, so I don't want to discourage you from purchasing. It tastes amazing.
