Wowed by the price plus awards I was hoping for a new everyday and/or sipping bourbon but for me it fell short on both counts. It's easy and solid enough but unremarkable in both spheres. Around this price point it's worth spending a couple of pounds more for character, smoothness and memorability. Sometimes you find a steal, sometimes you get what you pay for and as this is somewhere between a JB black and a Buffalo Trace from the same distillery so the pricing/pitch is right, just feels like an unnecessary bridge where the next minimal step offers memorably more.

Was given this as a birthday present and at first it looked like a JD knockoff. I don't like JD, so though the gifter was being cheap and I was a little disappointed.Was pleasantly surprised when I tasted it, as it's a really decent whisky in it's own right, with what seems to me a fairly high rye content. Spicier, more complex and balanced than it has a right to be at this price-point. Definite 'under the radar' hit.

The black label and square bottle makes it appear similar to the ubiqitous JD, but this is a far superior whiskey in my opinion. I find Jack Daniels is very sweet, while this has a more complex flavour with a little sourness- I would agree with the other reviewer's description as a "hint of apple". I've tried a number of Bourbons and this (along with Buffalo Trace and Wild Turkey) is one I would purchase again.

I have purchased many different bourbons from the standard JD's to the more expensive JD's and the even more expensive JD's. Joking aside I have a select of around 20+ different bottles from different companies and this is a good drinking Bourbon. Not that strong or weak. It sits in the camp of "reasonable for the money". I'm on my 3rd bottle and would gladly purchase again.

Buffalo Trace mash bill #1 is awesome stuff and forms the basis for some of the best bourbons in the world. This young spirit benefits massively from this heritage giving a cheap but tasty bourbon with broad appeal. If you're a Jack Daniels or Buffalo Trace fan I suggest picking yourself up a bargain whilst it's still cheap!

Similar to JD?? Absolutely not. I'm a big fan of bourbons, I've tried jim beam, western gold, makers mark, buffalo trace, bulleit, wild turkey 80 proof and a fair few others.. This personally makes it into my top three. Quite smooth, with a small hint of apple to it. Give it a shot (pun intended)

opening the cap it smells strong and not that nice but i was very surprised I always drink jd or jim beam thought I would try this... and it is very smoothI would go as far to saying I prefer it to jd which I really did not think I would ever say

Well surprised by this - i bought it on offer thinking it would be rough and I would have to mix with with a litre of coke to enjoy it. Not at all - this is smooth as hell and with just a little ice it can be easily sipped and enjoyed.
