I purchased this solid offering when it was on sale for £22 and am very glad to have snapped up another before the price went back up to £33.09. It's touch and go whether I'd buy it again at full price - I'll get back to you when I've finished the second! It was a much better sipper than I thought it would be and a refreshing change from the heavy sweetness of some of the bourbon whiskey I'd been sipping recently. For me this has lovely grassy, sweet pine notes on the nose, with a surprise of gin botanicals drifting over a light vanilla and caramel sweetness. On tasting, there's a nice spicy rye arrival, which is quite zesty, alongside the gin botanicals which continue on from the aroma.Although not overly complex on the palate, with quite a short, dry oak finish, this juice really does reward a good long chew before swallowing, where the more vegetal flavours fend quite mouthwateringly with the light sweetness and some bitterness from the oak, for some happy sour candy before it's gone.I imagine it would be a really good mixer and it does hold up with a little water. But for the last couple of weekends my wife and I have found it a perfect accompaniment to a few games of pool: interesting and refreshing enough for a pause between doings, but not so demanding or complex a dram that it would be wasted on a more lively party atmosphere. One last thing: it was a tad more lively on first opening. So if it seems a bit too sharp at first, you might find that, if sipping neat, leaving it in the glass to settle may help this. After a while with some air in the bottle, we did notice that the drink had mellowed just enough for some more balancing sweetness to shine.

This was my first rye whiskey I tried through recommendation from various people and as I really enjoyed Bulleit Bourbon I thought why not. The taste profile is really impressive for what you get especially at the cost you pay, it's real good value for your money. I made the most of the Amazon daily deals and bought a bottle, seen it on offer again the following week so bought another hahaThe initial sip you get a great kick of heat from the whiskey, but it's not overwhelming at all but is enough to take notice, dominated by complex mixture of spices and a sweet fruity taste which I've been informed that is cherry, but I still struggle to put my finger on it being cherry just yet (I have a palate in training haha). After that sip the rye begins to open up and the dryness becomes more obvious as you finish but there is something about it that makes you go back for more. It's a drink that you need to try, even if just buying and trying at a restaurant/pub/bar or wherever to understand the value you get from buying a bottle.Overall it's smooth to drink especially when neat (I recommend enjoying it neat over cocktail mixes, tastes much better in my opinion), it's something that you can open to drink at home by yourself or with family to relax with that won't disappoint.

I was a little disappointed in this Bulleit 95 Rye. Traditionally I'm a wild turky and jim beam man, but a recent business stay at a hilton hotel meant bulleit was the bars stock burbon and I kind of got the taste for it, so now and then I pick a bottle up.I like Rye Whiskey, but this doesn't really taste like a rye whiskey at first, the rye flavours seems almost non existent, and seems to be dominated by sweet and fruity flavours. Its supposedly cherry but I think there must be multiple flavours.Jim Beam Red Stag is a Black Cherry Bourbon and that has a very pronounced sweet and deep flavoured cherry, its clearly cherry you get, but this, this isn't clearly cherry, its almost like a mixture of fruits.Once the kick from the whiskey is gone and the initial sweetness, its nice and spicy, the rye shines a little brighter. I would have liked rye to be a stronger taste given its called RYE, I would have liked a more cherry flavour also, less cherry and more honey/vanilla/etc but as it is the early taste just ain't all that good but overall its nice. I wouldn't order this when I was out, but occasional drop well worth it.

I'm a Wild Turkey 101 fan, and this is my first taste of a rye whiskey. I like it! On opening and first taste I was taken aback by the after bite. The flavour profile is balanced and deeper than Bulleit's lacklustre bourbon. I drink my whiskey neat, straight up; enjoying the full profile without adjustment. But the after bite is quite spicy - almost like horseradish or wasabi. Ok I said, let's give it a chance. After 10 days of opening and down half way into the bottle it has really mellowed. The flavour is still there, but the kick is more of a clove like sizzle. It's really good stuff. I am keen to try other rye whiskeys now. Having tried a WT101 after dialling in my tastebuds to the Bulleit Rye; well it's sweeter than rye,and coats the mouth with a honey finish. So there you go, a good addition to the cupboard. Maybe knock up an old fashioned or two from a fresh bottle then leave it for a few days at the shoulder level.

First of all, rye whiskey is a beast of it's own, and although I like rye, it's not my go to whiskey. This one is like a decent bourbon with lots of spice, not the best rye whiskey, but it gets 5 stars because of the price. £25 a bottle is excellent for this, but once again, don't expect it to be on the same level as a scotch sipper, entirely different flavour profile. On the nose, the alcohol smells like some kind of paint solvent that I actually like and reminds of painting models. Some of the spice confess through on the nose too and substantial sweetness. On the palette you get a woody liquorice flavour followed by a strong and growing spice, but the more you drink the more the flavour moves towards a very woody bourbon.

As a scotch drinker, and sometimes bourbon for an alternative,a palate cleanser,of sorts,it took me a long time to find, let alone trry,Rye in the UK. I've had others, but this strikes me as among the best,if not THE best,I've had thus far,not as sweet as common or garden bourbon, which suits me.On offer,it's something to stock up on,at full price, though,I'll buy a decent malt instead. That's not a criticism of this, but merely my preference,if I'm paying over £30 a bottle, then it's Lagavulin,or Macallan,Highland Park,Laphroaig,Talisker, etc.but this is an excellent choice when reduced to a sensible price.

This is an interesting one...it's a very mild rye and doesn't taste like any rye or even any other bourbon I've come across...it's like Bulleit with cherries on top...lots of cherries...it's something I'd like to have a bottle of amongst others to drink every now and then because it's so unique but its singularity gets old as an everyday go to...I'm glad it exists...there are so many homogeneous tasting bourbons around these days...it just isn't as compelling as it could be. If you like unusual, light and subtle then maybe it's for you but Rittenhouse 100 is still the king of ryes in my opinion,

If you appreciate a good Old Fashioned you will know that throwing a bit of JD, Jim Beam (or what ever you can get from the local supermarket on your way home from work) into a glass just doesn't cut it. If you are going to spend 10 minutes muddling a sugar cube into your bitters you may as well do it right and to do that your going to need a good quality Rye such as this.Price is a little steep for which it loses a star but that to be expected for something you will have trouble finding in even the larger of supermarkets. That said, you get what you pay for.

I paid double and three times the amount for some bourbons but this stuff is better than them all. I love this stuff. The scent, the taste, the after taste. Beautiful and cheap. I bought This and a pricey talisker at the same time and this is my favourite. But I'm not a fancy whisky drinker. I'm poor, uncultured and payed min wage but I really liked it. Othe people with finer pallets may not or enjoy it. But for me it was awesome. And 40 quid cheaper than what i nornally buy. This will be a regular on my payday shopping list

I always liked Bulleit's Frontier Whiskey, I think it's a great Bourbon at an accessible price point, full of character with a hint of rye.Based on that I thought I'd give the 95 Rye a go. It's good stuff, a nice peppery finish and very drinkable. Would work well in cocktails.Rye is making something of a comeback but can still be quite hard to come by at good prices - this one comes recommended. As a side note, I got it on offer for £20 and at that price it would have scored a five, but I've rated based on normal price.

Since coming across this stuff a few years ago I do like having a bottle in the cupboard - it's fiery and blunt on the palate when drunk neat (in a good way when on the right occasion). It's above average ABV and deep flavour make it a good choice for traditional whiskey cocktails, and a very generous slug in hot chocolate on a cold night really hits the spot like nothing else. It gets a wide berth from me most of the time - but I like to know it's there when the mood takes.

An excellent value rye whiskey. This rye is 4 years old , sourced from MGP in Indiana and bottled by Tom Bulleit. It's probably more of a mixer than a sipper but it's still very good indeed. I've had better rye's but not at this price point. A good tip if you want to taste it at it's best is to drink it down to the shoulders and then put it away for at least 6 months. All rye whiskey's oxygenate really well and the longer you leave them the better they get.

Pair this beauty with its bff, conk or bepis and have yourself a jolly nice timeWe'll presented bottle. Possibly a little pricey but it's worth it for a one off (I'm tight fisted btw)Don't be put off by the high rye content, it only adds to the overall experienceMy new and only "go to" rye, if such a thing was needed. Before I forget, don't try and recommend it to your friends, they'll assume you've misspelled "bullet", the pendants!!Enjoy

If you want an introduction to Rye Bourbon Whiskey this is a great start. A very smooth taste with no unnecessary sweetness. A hint of pepper but more character than the plain Bulleit Bourbon. I like good quality single malt Scotch whisky, but this Rye is a pleasant American holiday. My bottle of Bulleit never lasts long particularly if friends visit the house. It's not the cheapest brand, but you definitely get what you pay for in this case.

I've tried about 40 bourbons in total with about 7of them been Rye ones ie knob creek rye and Jim Beam rye to name a couple.. And I'd say Bulliet Rye is the best I have had.. It as a great aroma with a taste that's slightly honey sweet and leaves a lasting impression.. It as got a bit of a kick, but I personally think all great whisky and Bourbon should have kick.. I'd recommend this Rye to any one thinking of trying it.
