We are big fans of the octomore series and do this will get a great recommendation from me.There is a caveat however, this is a beast of a whisky. If you are not used to heavily pleated whiskies, this will punch you in the face and steal your wallet, it won't be your friend, it won't cuddle your taste buds, it will assault you.If, however, you are used to the likes of Ardbeg, Laphroaig and the other Islay classics, then this will open up hints of honey, meat, floral tones and berries, it is complex, multi layered and beautiful. The peat levels are off the scale, the alcohol level is high and the young aged oak bitterness is there to relish.Expensive? Yes! Aggressive, yes and no depending on your experience with Islay.Worth it? Oh my god yes.

A great whisky, but seems to vary in quality and flavour by batch. I have the 8.2 which is excellent and this 10.1 is a little disappointing by comparison.Dont get me wrong, it's still a nice whisky, but you obviously need to pick your batches carefully to get the best ones.I don't know if it significant to the quality of the batch but I did notice this 10.1 batch is only 102ppm peatiness compared to 167ppm for my 8.2.

I’ve been drinking single malts for over 50 years and this is one of the finest I’ve tasted.I’m a lover of Islay malts and On reading some of the reviews of this I’m dumbfounded that anyone can possible underrate this Nectar.Don’t get me wrong, I’m a lover of Lagavulin, Ardbeg, Laphroiag etc but the kick this gives you neat is incomparable.I’m writing this with a heavy heart as I come to the bottom of the bottle.

I got this as a birthday present for my dad although I was only recently able to drop it off due to lock down. I got it after being recommended it by a colleague. He loves it - he's a peaty fiend and this is his now his joint favourite whiskey. If you love smokey peaty whiskeys then this is for you :-)
