Bruichladdich invest a lot of money in presentation and this is obvious when you open the cardboard box. The tube is tastefully designed in a contemporary style. The bottle is a short, stubby and heavy. The quality is so good I’m not going to recycle it as I’m turning it into a lamp stand.Last year I bought the classic laddie presentation box with two glasses and was stunned by the exceptional quality. The classic laddie isn’t peaty or smokey so it’s a good drink for quests or for a change. I like Peat and smoke so decided to try a 20cl Port Charlotte heavily peated. This really stood out against a more gentle Caol Isla I had started. The 10 year old Charlotte is certainly smoother then the unaged. They are both unique and neither disappoint.I bought the 10 year old as it was a great deal asthe Port Charlotte unaged and the laddie had been so tasty.I’m not an expert like Ralfy, Hors or the Whisky Test Dummies but I can pick out the crisp peaty smoke and a slight saltiness. 50% so a few drops of water really open the flavours, initially smooth and silky the flavours really did develop with a few drops of hard water, I will certainly try again with a mineral water as my local water is tainted somewhat by chlorine. There is an aftertaste that is a mixture of rich caramel and liquorice without being over empowering. It’s always good to share a dram with a friend unless it’s this tasty so I’m not sharing or displaying this until I’ve drank every single last drop.

Best I've had in years. Makers state that they tried to make the most "islay" of Islays. They Have. Taste is similar to what Laphroaig used to belike, before the dumbing down of the more affordable ones. Similar even to the G&M 1974 and 1975 Ardbegs that you could still pick up in the 1990s for £30. Unusual, very solid green bottle, embossed on rear, presented in a metal tube, nicely desined all round . What is inside is the real deal, smoky, peaty, awesome example of Islay whisky. 50 proof. value for money even at £45, which is similar to Lagavulin [now only the second best currently produced Islay], There are no negatives at all about this whisky, its a real beast.

Bruichladdich is a Distiller who truly believe in understanding what goes into their whisky, how the effect of what they call 'terroir' affects the end product and how this is eventually bottled and shipped to their customer … In short (unlike some other distillers), they invest in the entire production process end to end – with their staff (rather than automated processes) a vital element of what goes into making their whisky unique. Port Charlotte just happens to be my favourite expression from Bruichladdich – that’s because I like the heavy peat background and this bottle is to die for … enjoy!

I love my peated whisky (generally don't venture far from Islay single malt whiskys in general) and do I ever love this. A lovely smooth, classy dram which as others have said will be very hard to beat at this price point. An absolute joy to drink. Also - and I think Bruichladdich is one of the most forward thinking distilleries with regards to this - the bottle is gorgeous! It's modern, simple, classy and the lip is so very well designed that you won't spill a drop. No need to catch the wee dribbles down the bottle with the fingertips and dab it behind your ears with this whisky ;)

never tried this before but as it was on offer at £32 I thought I'd give it a try.I love my Islay malts and tried most of the sub £50 bottles and this is right up there with the best.Nose: Salted caramel brownie, flamed orange peel, a hearty whack of seaweed.Palate: Oak-y smoke and salty sea air, paired with sweeter notes of Custard Cream biscuits and white grape.Finish: Ginger snaps, rye toast, drying peat smokiness.Absolutely lovely stuff. Imagine Emma Watson and Daisy Ridley taking turns to pee into your mouth then this Port Charlotte is right up there with that.

Purchased for husband’s birthday. Have many good wife points that should last a year at least. He loves his whiskey - you can give birth to a boy in New Zealand but apparently the Scots half will win. He’s not into possessions so both birthday and Christmas are about trawling through different whiskies for him to try, after about 20 years diligent research this has been voted the best. It’s very smooth and warm, rather than setting fire to your throat in the way down. Strong flavour but perfectly balanced. It’s a real little gem.

Port Charlotte is my second favourite whisky, but when I take into account the fantastic price of it, it must be my favourite. My second favourite (when price is considered) is Octomore 8.1; from the same distillery.I love Port Charlotte’s accessibility, price and lingering peated taste. One of the few whisky’s that delivers honestly on the peat! Perfect!

After being disappointed by Talisker and Springbank I decided a return to Islay was needed. I’d heard good thing about what Bruichladdich had be doing and heavily peated sounded right up my street. So instead of playing safe with Ardbeg or Laphroaig I took a punt on this. Absolutely worth it, fantastic, restored my faith in Scottish single malt.

Oh boy.. If you like Islay, you cant go wrong with this one.The sheer smell of brine in this whisky is out of this world. The high alcohol content may make you feel like this will be a kick in the teeth but no, its smooth..Smokey, briny and full of island flavours.Must say I savoured every sip of this whisky. Would definitely recommend.

Ordered this mainly because of all the awards it has won and was curious to try it. This is a class act, extremely smooth and easy to drink. It claims to be very peaty, and it is that alright. I drank it over ice and it was lovely, but you only want one or two before trying something else. Very nice drink in small doses

Delicious, austere, somehow sweet and dry at the same time. Hard core Islay peat n smoke. Layers of medicinal aromas and flavours that go beyond peaty smoke to be delicate, flowery and fruity! Amazing multilayered complexity. Needs a few flakes of ice to leaven the 50% ABV and bring out the nuances. Impressive.

This became my favourite whisky - previously it was Bowmore 15 years. I like Isla whisky. This is very petey , complex and full of interesting flavour. Definitely good value. I find the flavour more interesting and full of detail compared to other Isla whisky at a similar price point

Not had Bruichladdich Port Charlotte before but it won’t be my last it’s on my favourites list what’s not to like it’s fruity and Smoky it’s 10 years old and at 50% bloody lovely add a few drops of water to release the flavours all I can say is WOW.

What a whiskey. Remarkably subtle despite the boast on the box about being heavily peated, it's not as peaty as Laphroaig (which I also like), it combines fullness with a lovely rounded finish. Can't wait for payday to get another.

This is one of the best bargains in single malt whisky IMHO. It replaces the Port Charlotte Scottish Barley in that position for me. A very well-balanced peaty Islay whisky at a price that won't break the bank. What's not to like?
