I've been using an earlier version of this Braun blender for over a decade and it's still going strong, which is slightly amazing given that I'm not exactly gentle with kitchen appliances...I have heard of the motors burning out but there have been no such problems with my one; perhaps you need to be careful not to over-strain the mechanism by trying to chop or blend too many solid items. Anyway; mine is used two or three times each week to prepare soups and smoothies, and with fruit and cooked veg it works brilliantly. The instructions recommend that you use the blender in short bursts, and shake it to free off any lumps that form, and this method has been very effective. The unit separates into two halves for cleaning,so you don't need to put the electric motor part anywhere near water (just wipe it over with a damp cloth). The actual mixer attachment section can be immersed but you do need to make sure that it has drained fully, as it can end up containing water. The 'blades' can be spun in either direction to release any jammed food, and to share the wear-and-tear on both sides of the blade. The standard attachment is great for blending / mixing, but I wouldn't recommend using it for chopping - there are plenty of additional, tougher attachments which you can buy to chop raw veg or meat. There are also whisks and other attachments - it can be very versatile, although the costs start getting high if you buy lots of different attachments. I haven't needed any, to be honest, so it would be worth giving the basic set-up a go before splashing out on extras.I much prefer using a hand-blender like this instead of a food processor, which seems to involve a lot of mess and additional washing up. The hand-blender can be used in the pan or mixing bowl, without needing to get anything else dirty. Brilliant!8/10

I like this a lot: I am a raw foodist and have a number of kitchen appliances for blending/chopping/pureeing including a Vitamix blender and Magimix food processor both of which are excellent but a little unwieldy for small jobs, which is where this blender stick comes in, I used one while housesitting for a friend and was impressed by the ease of use, effectiveness and fast clean up.I tend to use it for small batches eg sauces, dressings and fruit purees of a cup or under (250ml). The tall beaker is excellent in this respect. Place the ingredients in, stick in the blender and then whizz it. The floral bell shape seems to suck the produce in,and give a great result considering the blade is small and this is not a super powerful motor.I have used it on a mixture of fresh/frozen fruit (best to allow to thaw at least a little) and it gives a good result. Certainly not velvety smooth as the Vitamix but I would not expect that! A decent, passable smooth sauce though.Absolutely ideal for smaller amounts as with a slim silicone spatula it is easy to get most of the mix out of the container.Clean up is easy, just a swish of the blade and stem in warm soapy water, maybe use a dishbrush for thicker mixtures such as nutbased.Minimally this would be handy (as a raw foodist) to take travelling so as to be able to concoct basic salad dressings and fruit sauces.Takes up relatively little space in a cupboard, or doesnt look terrible stored on the countertop.

I bought this for convenience - so I didn't have to lug the food processor out every time something needed blending. When it arrived, it was nicely packaged and came in three pieces: the motor unit, the blending blades, and a beaker for making smoothies (with measuring units on the side). The individual pieces are quite compact, making it easy to store.I tried it out on soup today, and it blended the contents of the pan beautifully and quickly without any spattering. Without a shadow of a doubt, it could easily tackle pretty much anything that needed blending in terms of: sauces / soups / baby food / smoothies etc. However, I haven't tried it with anything frozen,so I don't know how it would perform.I have dropped one star because the blender is quite heavy, and the button needs to be continually pressed in whilst blending (you cannot lock it in the 'on' position). After a couple of minutes, this can get quite fatiguing on your thumb and the back of your hand. I don't have problems with things like arthritis, but if you do, I should imagine it could be quite awkward to use.All in all though, a good, powerful and well-designed blender at a reasonable price.

I like the flower design of the head, and the overall simplicity of this blender. It gets the job done quick, mixing together copious amounts of carrots in seconds. It washes up quick too and you can also put it in the dishwasher. The only thing I'd change - and the reason for the 4 stars - is the on switch. You have to apply a bit of pressure, hold in and then my poor arm starts aching a bit. I'd rather have a sensor touch or a good old fashioned flick switch that doesn't need holding.Apart from that, great value for money. I'm happy with my little blender.

Whereas this Braun blender has curvy bits at the bottom, the hand blender that we used previously didn't have curvy bits. We only really use a hand blender for making soup, and those curvy bits at the bottom help to create a flow through the head. This means that my lovely wife doesn't have to keep lifting the blender up and pushing it down again, not nearly as much as she had to with the previous one that we had. This blender sucks the vegetables in and creates a flow out for the blended food. Less effort is good. Recommended.

When old Braun hand blender broke after 36 years of use (switch fell out), I was so pleased to see that they still made them, the newer one is better because you can take the bottom half away from the electrics to wash it, so it can we washed more thoroughly (always used to worry that the other one may sleep and fall into water and ruin electrics).Very pleased whether it will last as long we will have to wait and see but I most probably won’t be around for that 104 years of age if it does!

In the interests of full disclosure, this new hand blender replaces my previous 12yo one. The features this new one has over that one are mostly that it comes apart and the blade end can be washed in the dishwasher - this is the best thing! No issues with noise, comfort, performance or heat - it worked as well as you could want a hand blender to work! It's small, powerful, and easy to store and clean. What more could you want from a hand blender? No other attachments included however.

Sleek design, nice big button you can hold with two fingers, comes apart/goes together well and purees food beautifully.Stains if you use with certain foods (tinned plum tomatoes in my case) but I had that with a previous hand blender so not a surprise. The jug is not very big compared to my last blender but it works well in bowls without splashing so not a big issue.Easy to clean and store as breaks in two. All in all, a great little hand blender I would definitely recommend.

You may find this strange but i actually bought this for my Cat. He was diagnosed with Jaw Cancer and needed a liquid diet. He was getting bored of supermarket Liquid treats and wanted his human food. Blended small pieces of meat and gravy to a liquid but the test was Chunky Chicken and ham. It performed brilliantly and came out like a Smoothie, very Impressed indeed. The detachable handle part to clean the blade is a really good idea and the jug is handy to with measurements on the side.

My old stick blender gave up after almost 15 years and I needed to replace it. Brought Braun as this was the same make as my old one which was very good and used at least 3 or 4 times a week...sometimes a lot more when the girls were babies. The new blender is even better it is more powerful and the end has been designed so it does not splash. I wanted a plastic one as I blend sauces a lot in pans and I had read the stainless steel ones scratch saucepans more. Very happy.

I've used the hell out of endless stock blenders and I have to say this is the best one I've ever had. The base looked a bit odd we I first got it out it out of the box bit it seems to be designed to draw the liquid towards the blades, and works very effectively. The motor has some real grunt too. When you turn it on you can feel the power as it pulls itself deeper into the liquid. Sturdy, powerful and reasonably priced, this is the go-to stick blender for me from now on!

Bought to replace my soup blender with a larger foot, that died. I think this one might take a little longer to blend a large pan of soup, but it still does the job, with a metal blade, in a non stick pan, in a reasonable time. I bought it because I could find no better one and this had the best reviews, surprisingly as it was the cheapest one by a brand I recognise. I am pleased with my purchase, a friend has since bought the same one and also is very pleased

This will blend almost any food. Because it is hand-held, it can be controlled to get the degree of blending that is required, from completely smooth baby food to a chunky soup. It is easy to clean, but the motor (obviously) cannot be put in the dishwasher, and we don't put the blade in, either. It may not be suitable for smoothies, as I think it may leave seeds etc unaltered and if it was used for something like toffee it would likely burn out the motor.

We wanted a straightforward stick blender without all the attachments. Having looked at the reviews this one stood out and we can see why. It's well made, not heavy and does a good job of blending soups, dhals and even potatoes for mash. The design means that it blends quickly, not too much product gets caught up in the cavity and it doesn't splash out much. We would have liked a couple of speeds, but apart from that it's a great kitchen tool.

This is fool proof, u can't but make it work!!The measure jug is great size and is measured along the sideI do like how compact this blender is and how it detaches into 2/3 for storageHowever- the cons are there are no ability to change the speed of blenderAlso I like to have the ability to put items in the dishwasher Also there appears to be no ability to attach different parts to blend different foods to different thickness
