Having used a multitude of electric razors over the years I was thrilled to replace my old razor with something a little more up to date. My beard is rather fast growing and looks an absolute mess unless I style it with an electric razor which was why the Braun Beard trimmer excited me. This razor has a specific focus on beard styling which as I afore mentioned is very appropriate for a guy like me. I was extremely impressed by the dial on the device which boasted 39 precision settings. What I found most impressive about the razor was indeed this feature. Braun seems to understand the frustration of having to switch the heads of standard beard shavers every time you fancy a different style andhave resolved this problem with one simple head and the 39 precision dial which mechanically lifts the head allowing you to chose the height of the razor to fully achieve the desired style. As a person who's beard grows unusually fast I was able to take full advantage of this feature and I found myself smiling at the simple innovation, wondering how nobody had thought of this before. The Braun Beard trimmer also comes with a second head which is specifically designed for trimming the sides of your hair too so don't assume this razor is a one trick pony. I gave the hair trimmer a try and that too seems to work extremely well for all intents and purposes. Lastly in regards to usability, I decided to remove the heads altogether and use the trimmer to style my beard into a simple goatee removing the hair to mere shallow stubble. I was amazed at how comfortable the process was, I didn't feel a single uncomfortable tug and actually found the included Gilette razor to be a little jarring and uncomfortable compared to the Braun which fascinated me. The Gilette razor included in the set is also a stroke of genius and ultimately makes the package feel all encompassing and certainly worth the money. The Braun Beard Trimmer is next to perfect but of course isn't without its faults. There is a rather important caveat I need to point out here in regards to the included charger. The charger is designed to fit into a beard trimmer plug which in the UK are extremely uncommon in bathrooms I vaguely recall seeing one in the last hotel I stayed at though I doubt it ever worked. Fortunately, this razor was shipped to me with a full battery which allowed me to develop my first impressions of the product until the adapter I purchased arrived. It's crucial for razors to be shipped with either an adaptor or the country's plug I cannot stress that enough and It's important to note this before purchasing.All in all, the Braun BT3040 impressed me more than I expected. It's the best beard trimmer I've ever owned down to its chic blue stripes and comfortable rubber grip. I am reviewing the BRAUN BT 3040 Beard TrimmerFirst impressions in terms of the packaging give off a professional and clear feel. The box clearly details what it is and lists some of the features in an easy to read style. The colour of the box is black with the occasional blue making it clear it is aimed for men.On the packaging it mentions it is fully washable (which I will test) and includes a free Gillete manual razor. One noticeable and highly useful feature of the packaging is on the back it details what each of the components of the box are used for. For example the 1-10mm blade is used for short and medium beards; perfect for helping beginners at facial grooming like me choose the optimal blade.It also boasts a 60 min charge time with a understandably high 8 hours charging time. You can charge it overnight and use it in the morning.The box itself is quite easy to open, easier then previous trimmers I have used and the contents come out easily. In the box there is a trimmer with a standard short blade, a Gillete razor, two beard shortening blades and a small brush. The instruction booklet is short but contains all the important information on how to use the product.Using the product, I decided to use the shortest blade on the trimmer. There was a dial on the trimmer which I assume was for the speed, although I did not feel any noticeable difference when moving the dial. Out of the box the trimmer was charged enough for me to use it to trim my fairly medium-short beard over a period of 10 mins. I used it in the bathroom over the sink, and put the trimmer under the tap to get rid of hair stuck on the trimmer. Fair to say it is as described “fully washable” which was an added convenience and to test this I held it under the tap for 2 minutes whilst it was on. It did not give me a clean shave, (that was what the Gillete razor was for) but it gave me tiny stubble hairs which was what I expected. You could notice the stubble hair when up close, but that might be because of my black hair colour. However you couldn’t see the hair from a distance. Although one negative I found with this trimmer was sometimes I had to go over some hairs multiple times (to be fair this is due to my very thick hair and happens with razors too). It did not come with a stand; however, it is fairly easy to put the contents back into the box without too much hassle and put away till the next time you need it. All in all I would recommend the Braun Trimmer as makes trimming easier and more convenient. Especially with the 60-minute battery life and waterproof feature. There was that issue of going over certain hair multiple times but that is due to my thick hair and happens with all trimmers/razors I have used. I don't get loads of facial hair so I'd left it to grow out a little before trying the Braun BT3040 beard trimmer. It's a simple enough looking gadget, easily recognisable as a trimmer to anyone who's ever had a haircut - although this one is a bit different. Rather than there being many different combs for different lengths, the Braun comes with just two! The first comb is used if you want a cut of 1-10 mm; the second for cuts of 11-20 mm. The different lengths in between are achieved by the use of a clever dial adjustment on the body of the trimmer - adjusting the dial moves the face of the attached comb nearer or further away from the blade, in doing so altering the cutting length!

When I first grew a beard I didn't really have any idea how to look after it and briefly looked at buying a beard trimmer. None of them seemed to have great reviews so I never got round to it and ended up getting the barber to trim it. They used normal mains powered hair clippers (which I happen to have) and so I've just used those since... The only problem being there isn't much choice as there is a big step between hair cutting grade attachments. It's quite tricky to trim the moustache too!So when I got the chance to try the Braun Beard Trimmer I was very pleased and eager to try it. The comb lengths are measured in millimetres so it took a bit of guesswork as to what length I would want my beard to be after trimming.

I have had a couple of beard trimmers over the years and I think this is one of the best I've had. The fact the trimmer comes with so many length variations makes it really handy for having a different look or style every now and then.The trimmer feels very comfortable to hold and manoeuvre around your face. The length guides don't catch or pull on any hairs which is a real bonus.I find that the hair around my cheeks grows longer quicker than the hair around my mouth area. With the length variations being only 0.5mm I can use one setting for the cheeks to trim shorter then a longer one for around my mouth to equal it all out.

So when my Braun beard trimmer arrived I got it straight out of the box and stuck it on charge for a few hours. Although the packaging was quite basic it had some nice little touches included, with the Gillette razor and cleaning brush. The first major thing for me was that I was able to charge it through my shaver outlet in the bathroom, my previous beard trimmer had to be plugged into a standard socket which was a pain.When I used it for the first time it gave me a really even shave as the guides are rigid and stable, again my previous shaver had flexible guides which meant if you pressed to hard you would have an uneven shave.

Well this product the braun bt3040 turned up and my thought's to it having only ever used 1 trimmer on 1 occasion before and only using scissors and comb regular. I have to admit i was very sceptical about it but with it having 2 adjustable combs with 39 precision cuts from 0.5 - 20mm i had to think i have to try this product especially not having a trim in 5 days so was looking a little messy the braun has a very ergonomic hold to it so making it easy to move while trimming, it glides over the contors of the face with ease with no tugging of the hair at all so makes trimming easy and very comfortable and i must say makes trimming enjoyable.
