I love soups but making them is not always fun. Especially when you’re in a hurry. It takes time to chop up all necessary ingredients, then cook them, stirring from time to time so it won’t burn, season to taste and be careful not to overcook whole soup – this takes our precious time. When you asked me if I would like to review Morphy Richards saute and soup maker and come up with healthy soup recipe this is what I prepared – Quick and healthy roasted pepper and tomato soup. All you have to do is chop tomatoes, peppers and 1 stalk of celery – the rest is done by the soup maker itself. It’s very easy to use. Start by removing all stickers and round leaflet from inside the soup maker, wash it with soapy water, rinse, dry, add all ingredients for your soup, add hot water, close the lid and plug in the cable. Lights should now start flashing. Press button “MODE” to select preferred cooking method (smooth, chunky, juice or blend) then press “SELECT”. On the screen you should now see the time in what your soup will be done. It’s 21 minutes for smooth, 28 for chunky and 2 for juice. Piece of cake? Surely! This time I went for smooth soup as OH is not the biggest fun of chunky ones and it’s suppose to be lunch for both of us. Imagine how surprised I was when my soup turned out super duper smooth, not overcooked (I think I tend to do it from time to time) and very tasty! It’s definitely better than when I use hand blender, plus I don’t have to wash million dishes, spoons, ladles, saucepans you name it.Time saver. With 21 minutes in my hands I washed all dishes waiting in the sink, sorted out freshly washed laundry and quickly hoovered two floors of the house. Can this get any better? Yes. Soup maker is easy to wash, with soapy water and soft sponge.Would I buy it? Now when I tested it myself I can say YES. It makes perfect late Christmas or birthday gift for busy people, just like me!Thank you Morphy Richards for the wonderful equipment I have in my Kitchen which I love using it everyday! When I first received the product, I thought how well it's design would fit in with my kitchen. It's red, stainless steel and kettle like features blend in well and it's not that obtrusive on the kitchen worktops, so no need to put it away in a cupboard. Instructions could be a little clearer, as on first use I put my ingredients in and placed it on "Smooth" operation thinking this was what I had to do, due to it being the quickest cycle, then "Blend" at the end of the cycle. Wrong! Best way is always use the "Chunky" setting (this only adds a few extra minutes), then "Blend". Reason being this fully cooks all your ingredients then you can blend to how smooth you like it.Only reason I can see for the "Smooth" operation is, when you have already made your soup in the device, it is used to reheat it. Done this way the soup is excellent, and I have used a lot of ingredients , which you would normally have to boil for ages, like potatoes and root vegetables. Couple of additions I would have liked to have seen, and would have given a 5 star rating for, is a viewing window on the side to see how the blend process meets my needs, without having to stop and lift the lid and also a pause button, should I decide to add more seasoning or ingredients to the mix, without it having to be reset to the beginning. Overall as a time saving product and it really does make excellent soup, that is sufficient for up to four people, although I have to admit I took quite a large bowl myself, as it was so delicious, I would recommend it as a great buy. Put your ingredients in, season, add water and let it do it's magic. Lets you get on with the rest of your cooking and preparation while it does what it's great at. A last comment would be the product is a breeze to clean....just warm water and a soft cloth...dry and ready for the next delicious batch.

I've had this for a month now, and have been delighted from the start. The instructions are clear, and a few good recipes come with it, but it will also make you old favourite ones. The sautéing / frying is done in the bottom part first if the recipe needs it, so no extra pans needed (but if you want croutons, remember to do those first). Then put in all the other prepared ingredients, select what you want the machine to do - smooth or chunky - then go off and do something interesting while it runs. No attention is needed until it beeps at the end. The stirrer keeps it all moving, and does the liquidising if you selected smooth soup. It takes a bit longer to do chunky (the book says 21 minutes for smooth and 28 minutes for chunky, but I've not timed it). Then ladle or pour it out. It does two very generous portions for a main meal, or four starter servings. The inside is non-stick, so cleaning it is easy. Of course because it is elecrical you can't dunk it in the water, but it is easy to rinse and wipe out because of the non-stick finish of all of it. It might have been a bit easier to clean if the blade could be removed, but presumably it is well sealed in to the body to keep steam and soup out of the motor. There are additonal options 'Blend' (in case the chunky soup is too chunky) and 'Juice' which presumably is for making smoothies or something, but I've not needed to use either of these. All in all it's a well designed and useful item. It lives on the worktop by the kettle and toaster: you won't want to hide it away with the dusty unused gadgets! [This review was collected as part of a promotion.]

I bought this about a month ago and have used it at least four times a week since. It is so easy to use. Just put your vegetables or other soup ingredients in, switch on and 20 minutes later it is ready. I use mostly the smooth setting because the chunky setting doesn't even blend for even a second. But if I want semi chunky soup. I cook it on the chunky setting and at the end of cooking I blend it for about 3 seconds. When I first bought the soup maker I used to saute the onions before adding the rest of the ingredients. But now I just throw everything in without sautéing the onions first. I don't really notice any difference in flavour or texture. The only time I use the sauté function now is when I am adding spices to the soup,as they need cooking off at the beginning. It is very easy to clean, nothing sticks. I just wash the two parts under a running tap, being careful not to get any electrical parts wet. If you want to try and eat more healthily then this is such a simple thing to buy to help you achieve this. Tinned soups are packed full of sugar and salt, this is not good if you are diabetic or other health problems. My partner has uncontrolled type 2 diabetes, so I can make healthy low carbohydrate soup that is packed full of nutrients four him. Children will happily have soup (especially carrot soup), so you could easily make a soup that they will enjoy but sneak in lots of hidden vegetables that they won't have a clue is in there [This review was collected as part of a promotion.]

I received this soup maker as a Christmas present after I put it on my want list. As someone who rarely eats veg with my meals and has be known to buy fruit which has a tendency to go bad before I eat it, I felt I needed to make a serious change to my ‘5 a day’ intake.I feel this soup maker has been a game changer for me. It’s very easy to use, compact, slightly heavy in weight, looks good and does the job. You simply decide what soup you want to make, prepare the ingredients, put them into the soup maker, add stock, give it a good stir to avoid food sticking to the bottom, put the lid on, choose smooth or chunky and you are good to go!I have made a chunky chicken and mushroom soup with small pasta shells and my favourite so far a Thai green smooth curry soup. I did notice when you use the smooth function there is a bit of noise as the serrator blade chops up the ingredients but only for very short periods of time and nothing too loud.I bought myself a soup maker recipe book, some soup cups and now I make a batch of soup. Evenly share it out amongst my soup cups, pop them in the freezer and take them out the night before I want to have the soup. It’s quick, easy and very convenient. You can also make smoothies, so no more fruit going bad!I would definitely recommend this product. I can’t rate it highly enough. Each time I use it, it is like a mini adventure trying out different recipes. [This review was collected as part of a promotion.]

I have literally had this soup maker 1 day and i am absolutely blown away! The unit itself is very aesthetically pleasing with very user friendly controls. I thought that i would give one of the recipes in the instruction booklet a try and chose the chicken and mushroom soup. I am no chef, in fact my cooking skills are practically non existant! I followed the recipe, saute'd the onions and garlic, which i found very easy to do. I then popped the other ingredients in as instructed, switched it on for smooth soup and off it went. The unit is pretty quiet when in use, and even when the blades kick in occasionally, it still isn't particularly loud.21 minutes later,it was all done and i lifted off the lid to see what it had produced. Well it certainly looked like soup, so that was a good start! There was a fantastic aroma as I poured the piping hot soup into a bowl. The taste was just sublime, the texture was perfectly smooth and there was not a lump in sight!I can't fault this soup maker at all, even cleaning it is an absolute breeze! It doesn't matter what level your cooking prowess is at, if i can make delicious soup with this, then anyone can!I have attached a photo of my endeavours, although that is only half of it as i'd already eaten the other half! This was going in the fridge for tomorrow! [This review was collected as part of a promotion.]

5 weeks ago my wife suffered a freak accident during the high winds we experienced in the North East. Walking home after visiting her father, she was hit on the head by a piece of roof tile. She was knocked unconscious and, in the fall, dislocated her shoulder and sustained 2 fractures. Since the accident she has been in constant pain which, together with analgesic medication, has left her feeling sickly and unable to eat. She had lost 11 pounds in weight and I was becoming increasingly concerned about her nutritional intake. I decided to try your soup maker as she has always enjoyed soup and I thought this might be an easier way to get nourishment into her. I wanted to avoid commercial soups due to unnecessary additives. The soup maker was a revelation. So simple to use, so quicknand efficient and only using fresh wholesome ingredients. She declared my first effort of leek and potato soup better than her favourite at our local pub restaurant and was equally delighted with a vegetable soup.Although she still cannot manage to eat other foods she is now tucking into healthy and nutritious soups so easily prepared in your excellent machine. I am now experimenting with other recipes and have yet to have an unsuccessful result.Thank you Morphy Richards for helping my wife towards a full recovery. bought recently and use 3 times,2 lots of leek and potato soup ( 1 smooth 1chunky)and 1 tomato and pepper soup all with excellent results .I have NOT yet used the saute function.I used frozen leeks, tinned tomatoes and jar of red and yellow peppers in oil.In all cases I chopped a couple of small potatoes into very small pieces and ( for the tomato soup) the same with half an onion .I then put in microwave with a little water for about 2-3 mins to soften. Then added everything to maker with the maximum amount of stock.Switched on and 20 minutes later had lovely soup.Meanwhile I had washed everything so only had maker to rinse out .Very easy. The tomato soup ,when blended was a great consistency for using as a pasta sauce (hubby had some on his pasta and loved it).To serve as soup I just added more stock to thin.I make a lot of soups ,normally in BIG batches and freeze but I quite like making the smaller amounts so quickly and easily .Looking forward to experimenting .FILLED TO THE MAX IT MAKES 4 GOOD SIZED BOWLS OR 5-6 IF EAT SMALLER PORTIONS OR YOU LIKE THINNER SOUP .If you were having guests it wouldn't be too much trouble to do 2 lots in maker within an hour !!It is like a LARGE,and heavy kettle so with soup in it is that much heavier ...so take note if you have difficulty lifting . I was brought up in the 50s and 60s up on beautiful soups made by my Mother. Her speciality , liked by all my friends was lentil which also contained pulverised vegetables. Her job was made easier when she was given a liquidizer. confess that I never had the time to make stock and then simmer the ingredients for hours like she did. I bought my soup maker on impulse as my husband needs to lose weight and I felt it was a good way to eat healthily and a full bowl of hearty vegetable soup does prevent snacking between meals. He tells me beetroot is good for blood pressure so my first soup was beetroot soup (with some carrots) Not being a beetroot lover,I was amazed when my soup was made in under half and hour and so tasty we both loved it. The sautee function made the onions so much more tasty and digestible. Next up will be carrot and coriander (my favourite) or perhaps cauliflower as I enjoyed this when visiting a friend and of course there has to be lentil! The combinations are endless and the great thing is that there are no additives or preservatives. I cannot wait to try the chunky programme knowing I can always puree it somewhat near the end if I have been too lazy to dice the vegetables! Cleaning was a dream - no dirty saucepans and other utensils! [This review was collected as part of a promotion.]

I recently attended a neighbourhood health and wellbeing fayre where we were encouraging people to eat more fresh fruit and veg. In order to do this we took along a couple of Morphy Richards Soup Makers one to make soup and the other for smoothies. Our aim was to show how easy it is to get your five a day by eating freshly made soup or drinking a freshly made smoothie.I had never used a Soup Maker before that day but was impressed how extremely easy it is to set up and use. Within minutes I had made our first batch of potato and leek soup for people at the fayre to try. We quickly ran out and had to make another batch as it proved so popular and people kept coming back for more.I was amazed at how tasty the soup is with so little effort to make and so were many people attending the fayre. I'm sure had we had Soup Makers to sell that day we would have done a roaring trade. The Mayor of Barnsley tried some soup too and loved it too.I immediately went out and bought my own Soup Maker and have not been disappointed with how easy it to use and clean whilst making the most scrumptious of soups. Every once in a while a product comes along that really revolutionizes the way you eat -- this is such a product. Well done Morphy Richards!!! [This review was collected as part of a promotion.]

This is a wonderful product, that comes in 2 sections plus kettle type electrical lead. Top section houses controls motor & rotating blades, lower section stainless steel jug with heating base for 'Sauteing'. A bit sceptical at first after carrying out research on soup makers in general & reading various on line reviews. Decided to pay extra for the 'Saute' feature as this appeared to be the only one on the market that had this feature, and so pleased that I did to soften chopped onions etc.Extremely simple to use, even the children use to male various smoothies, with strict instructions of DO NOT ADD ICE!(blades not heavy duty enough)On reading fault reviews on line it would appear that motor malfunction could be due to naturally forming moisture/condensation created during the soup making entering into the motor housing. As such we wipe & dry off this area imediatley after use. Also taking great care when washing this top section when also cleaning the blades. It would be nice if the complete jug section could be immersed within water when cleaning, but as this has the electrical socket section (similar to an electric kettle) naturally it is unwise to get this area wet.All in all pretty satisfied so far! Following my "new year new me" resolution, I decided to invest in a soup maker. After much deliberation I bit the bullet and went for the sauté and soup, as despite reservations of how good the sauté function would be, most reviews said it was useful.I am so pleased I did. Have made 2 soups so far. The sauté function is ingenuous, really hot and works in just a few minutes meaning you don't need to pre soften onions etc.You can chuck just about anything in and make a satisfying HEALTHY tasty soup. I have bought a little flask and this is going to be my take to work lunch every day. As it doesn't make massive portions it's just enough for 3-4 lunches,it's great for using up the odd bit of veg you have left lying around in the fridge.Really easy to clean too and really does cook in 20 - 25 mins - even lentil soup!A great way to get extra hidden veg into the kids too. Can't recommend enough and the sauté function is definitely worth the extra money. One point though - mine lets out a lot of steam during the cooking process so would be no good directly under a cupboard on the bench as may damage the surface of the wood/paint. I am going to check with the manufacturer that this is an expected thing. [This review was collected as part of a promotion.]

With what is essentially a non-stick frying pan at its base this is a very versatile product that's simple to use. I've made a vast variety of soups, chunky and smooth, including soups with meat cooked from fresh - despite one reviewer stating that you cannot. Provided you cut the meat into small pieces, add a generous quantity of olive oil and stir regularly the saute function will cook it through with no problems.Any good cook will tell you that you must taste your food throughout the cooking process and you can do that without breaking the program cycle because you can lift the lid at any time, try the soup, add any seasoning, etc. and then once the lid is replaced it will pick up right where it was, counting back the time on the display, from where it left off.If your chunky soup is too chunky, just run the blend function, it only needs a few seconds as the serrator blade is incredibly efficient. Finally, and the advantage over conventional ways of making soup that involves frying some of the ingredients, this product is amazingly quick and simply to clean.I've been using Morphy Richard's Saute & Soup for almost two years and would highly recommend it. This is the second soup-maker that I have bought, as I liked it so much, I used the excuse of giving my other one away so that I could purchase the upgrade with sauté feature and non-stick base.Enjoying a healthy lunch is a breeze with this machine and means that I also use up all my left over vegetables and meat etc. I am eating far more vegetables as a result of making soups.Using the 'smooth' option means that you only have to roughly chop the veg, throw it in, press two buttons, then get on with something while the machine does the rest. I was sceptical about the usefulness of this gadget but it beats using the stove hands down as needs and now with the sauté function (not that you really need this)means there is only one thing to wash up!Cleaning is very simple, so long as you do it straight away. I decant my soup into containers, or a jug, for storage and simple rinse each part under hot running water, occasionally using the brush in the base.I only had one issue with sticking with my old appliance, but have had no trouble since using a small wipe of oil in the base. The non-stick version should also avoid this completely.Very pleased with the purchase. [This review was collected as part of a promotion.]

I have used other soup makers (cheaper brands) without the saute function. The saute function on this Soup Maker brings it into another realm of convenience in terms of fast preparation and less washing up. You can easily serve six people or more which makes batch cooking soups for the freezer or next day lunch really economical. I use the Saute and Soup Maker to create fresh, nutritious sauces ie Italian tomato, pepper and basil or creamy mushroom soup/sauce; also veggie curry sauce to pour onto raw meat before cooking in the oven instead of buying processed ready made jars of cook-in sauces. The best way to do this is to choose the chunky program and then pulse the finished soup to whatever texture you prefer to use as a sauce.Blending Milkshakes or fruit or ice cream smoothies or cold coffee/chocolate is easy with the blend function and because of the large capacity, you can serve all the family with a quick rinse and start again with a different flavourAs this appliance is so well designed, it is very easy to clean without damaging the electrical inlets and it is so quick and easy to clean as it really is non stick ! So happy with this robust Saute and Soup Maker glad I bought it !
