I bought this adapter because I wanted to link my iPad Mini and iPhone 5 to my Epson EB-W03 projector.FUNCTIONALITYYou also need a HDMI male-male lead to connect this to an hdmi socket in a television, projector or monitor. The adapter and lead combination does the job it's designed to do, i.e. mirrors my iPad screen using my external device (in this case the iPad output is projected onto my wall). In addition to the socket for HDMI, there is a slot for another lightning input, so you can keep your device on charge or connected to other devices, should you need to.HIGH DEFINITONIt's fully HD compilable, supporting up to 1080p.VALUEI bought this for £32.50 because it is the only one on the market. This is ridiculous compared with similar cables for older devices such as adapters for earlier iPhones, which start at £3.NOTE FOR THOSE WISHING TO USE A SEPARATE SPEAKERHDMI carries sound, but my projector's inbuilt speaker is not very good, thus I needed to connect my iPad to an external speaker using the headphone socket. To achieve this you need to get everything set up and running THEN connect the iPad and speaker using audio lead. If you connect things in the wrong order, it's not likely to work.THE BOTTOM LINEIt's great to have the convenience if playing Netflix through my iPhone/iPad rather than laptop, but I really wish there were cheaper ways to do it.

I hate Apple, and I hate ever becoming part of their eco system. However, I, like most of the planet, am a drone to my phone. When I'm not being a face-down zombie playing the latest iPhone crystal meth game, I occasionally like to peer upwards and gaze at another screen, namely a projector.Found myself requiring a means of plugging said zombie device to shiny new projector and, not wishing to buy some knock-off from a certain part of the world, which would result in probable explosion of iPhone and precious new projector, then I bit the bullet and bought this.£50, a lie down from the shock of actually allowing Apple to insert their marketing rod up my backside once more, the new adapter arrived.Suffice to say, it works - and quite well too.It mirrors whatever is on the phone onto a larger screen. For some reason, and you may need to take the matter up with Mr Disney himself (yes another rogering there too, but that's for another review), but Disney+ will not mirror to a larger screen. It will work if you download first, but not if you stream.Confirm that dodgy football streams (soccer to you heathen American readers), Netflix and Prime all work nicely. Shh, don't tell anyone about the football though.

Amazon Prime App. playback issue? FYI. for others future benefit. Good product, expensive, but works as advertised. Feel a bit bad for marking this down to a 4 Star as it was not the products issue. I had some initial problems. Purchased this adapter to transfer films from my iPhone/IPad to watch off line through an HDMI Cable onto an old TV when no WIFI available, for when I'm on a boat or in a hotel room on business. Initially everything worked (Photos, Video, You Tube ETC) and all played except Amazon Prime. The issue, film played with no problem (sound and picture) on the iPad but would not mirror onto the TV. I had sound only and no picture. I initially assumed it was an Amazon restricted content sharing issue but, having searched the net, found there were reports from others of an issue between Apple IOS updates and the Amazon Prime App. The FIX. Should you have this issue, Delete the Amazon Prime App. Update your iPhone/Ipad to the latest IOS Update and then re-install the Amazon Prime App. Having done this all now works perfectly for me. I can download and watch my films/TV shows etc offline on a big screen. Hope this helps someone in the future.

It works as expected. With and without power attached to usb in.I’m UK and as per mid September 2018 works with Netflix, Amazon prime video, BBC iPlayer, YouTube and the apps I used it with - photos, keynote etc. I am currently on IOS 11 using an iPhone 6 - the larger one.I use this to connect to an hdmi projector. It doesn’t get hot.Came in Apple packaging. I didn’t even look for the bits of paper inside. I used a regular hdmi cable and non Apple lightning cable.I used a Bluetooth speaker for sound as my projector has a tinny speaker and was easy to sort.I plan to add some tape around the xable ends to protect a little from twisting in use. But no issues so far.Time will tell how long it lasts.I am not complaining about the high price. It’s a lot more than the knock offs but for me not getting hot, and working with video apps is needed and the knockoffs don’t do that.I read somewhere this apple official connector has some circuitry inside and my guess is that with the Apple General pricing rules made this super expensive. But I had a few choice to use this. I have an Apple TV already but don’t want to take that travelling.Happy days.

My only regret is that I did not get one sooner. I bought this after several months of indecision. I was slightly put off by some reviews saying there were problems with certain apps, or with the product itself. I use it with my IPAD 4 and it mirrors whatever is on the screen. I use mainly Amazon Prime , You Tube, and TV apps like BBC , ITV And ALL 4. The Picture and Sound are excellent. I bought an AmazonBasics Hdmi extension cable , which was £8.79 for 4.6 metres (15 feet), which allows my IPAD to reach from my TV to my armchair, so I don't have to get up ! (Shorter sizes are available). The adapter worked without any problems . As soon as it was connected , my IPAD was shown on the TV screen. If this does not happen, you may need to check that your TV input selecter is set to the correct HDMI input , as most TVs have up to 3 HDMI connections.I also use it with another TV I have upstairs, which Is not connected to an aerial. It works perfectly with Amazon Prime, You Tube etc . using wifi and my IPAD.I would recommend this product and for me the cost is worth it, especially since I can now use a TV that has no aerial !

This looks pricey for what it is but it effectively allow you to use your iPhone or iPad as an input device for your TV.Having read reviews of other non Apple connectors I was surprised by two things:I was able to stream an online (YouTube) opera from iPad to my TV inc sound. Netflix also works. My iPad screen wasn’t rendered properly on screen - the ratio can only be modified slightly. The first surprise means I think this was well worth the money as now I’ve a simple way to watch what I want via the larger screen regardless of the source. If it’s available on my iPad, I can show it on TV.The second surprise means that it’s not viable to use the TV as a large monitor.I’m told that not all TVs suffer this issue and that my iPhone will behave better. Not tried that yet.Only niggle, colour on TV was too warm (red/orange) and I couldn’t correct for it without changing the TV settings.Top Tips: consider a long DVD cable if your TV isn’t close at hand and remember to plug the power cable into the lightning port on the adapter as the iPad screen stays on, quickly draining battery.

I had to write a review as their are a lot of people non to happy with this product, first of all its not just an adapter it has lots of miniture circuitry in it and that probably accounts for the premium price.Secondly, it works okay and does not float about, it connects solidly, you should of course avoid strain on any connecting cables/wires,adapters and equipment, things tend to last longer that way.I worked as an electronic technician in the Royal Air Force for 22 years and would love to see anyones attempts at making a similar adapter. It does the job for me, yes its pricey, but if you can get an Apple adapter that has a 1 year warranty and it does the job also.I cannot see the problem. As for someone complaining that the small end of the adapter did not fit into his phone/ipad without him removing the protective case, I had absolutely no problem with my apple ipad case, but enlarging the hole in a case is a job I could manage if need be.Pricey adapter, but it does the job.Judd123 at 20.05 hours on Wednesday the 25th of November 2015.

This was a couple of quid cheaper than buying from Apple and at £38 I was dubious to spend that sort of money to allow me to interface my TV with my iPad air. Received the adaptor this morning and connected it to my TV via an existing good quality HDMI cable and it is sensational! I am amazed at the quality - the on screen quality is as good as the iPad (bearing in mind it has the retina display) if not better!! I read a lot of comments on the Apple website and most were favourable but I am extremely pleased with the adaptor. When I bought my iPad air I noticed the bad comments on the Apple website about the "lightening" connector and so far I have had no problem with it but I do feel it isperhaps not that robust but only time will tell.As an old timer getting to grips with all this new technology I am perhaps easy to please but would not hesitate to recommend this device - all I want now is a longer HDMI cable! Incidently delivery was excellent - free and took only two days. Well done.

Excellent lead by Apple works great when watching BBC I player and You Tube on a Hdmi Television. Tho watching Amazon Instant video the picture was in full size but was of low resolution and grainy not sure if it's Apples fault as BBC I Player is perfect full screen and in very sharp clear HD. I would give it five stars if it wasn't for the ridiculous over pricing by Apple at costing nearly £40 and a price tag of £20-£25 would I feel be a more realistic price tag. The lead appears well made so far and fits the IPAD Air perfectly and has the very handy feature of a lightening port for the IPAD to be recharged while in use. Which is excellent as the IPAD probably runs out of power quicker when watching video's.A lead for a IPAD 4,IPAD Air and iPhone 5 and not a IPAD 3 as it has a different fitting. This Apple Lightening Digital Av Adapter I would definitely recommend so far as on the whole works very well for view things on the big scene on a Hdmi Tv.

I've wanted one for ages but never bought one because frankly they are a bit expensive....as everything apple seems to be. Finally I bit the bullet and bought one and whilst I still think it was too expensive, I don't regret buying it at all...I use it all the time...it's great for streaming video to my tv....and looking at photos is a much better experience with one of these. It's built extremely well as all apple stuff is and can be used to connect your charger and hdmi lead to so you can charge and watch videos at the same time....my only gripe is that not all videos are displayed in full screen...this is an issue with the device and not a TV issue...something apple need to address to perfect this unit. All in all this is a must have ipad accessory, it takes your device to another level....it's just too expensive at the moment.

I purchased this solely to watch my iTunes films and TV content on my TV. Bought a cheap HDMI (Amazon Basics) cable to go with it. Plug the adapter into the Lightning port in your Apple device, plug in HDMI lead into the end of adapter and plug other end into TV, select correct HDMI source on your TV and hey presto the screen image from your Apple device appears on your TV.I play my TV and film content straight from my iPad, it appears perfectly well on my TV with little or no loss of picture quality or sound. It's a marvellous piece of kit.I haven't tried any other apps like Netflix, Sky Go, Prime etc but I gather some content doesn't work, so just be careful what you are buying this for.I only use it for ITunes content and it works perfectly well and is a low cost alternative to buying the expensive Apple TV plug in box.

When I first bought this adapter, it was great for watching the iPad Netflix App on a hotel/apartment TV. Since then I have updated to iOS 11 and it no longer works. If you have iOS 11 and want to watch Netflix then don’t buy this product. However if you’re still on iOS 9.3 then ok but don’t upgrade iOS till the issue is resolved. I am currently going through the long and tedious process of dealing with Apple Support but will update this review when I have an outcome.**Update 15th March 2018**I am pleased to report that Netflix have issued an update to their iOS app and the above mentioned issue has been resolved. Unfortunately the adapter will still not work with Sky Go but that is due to a deliberate and I believe unwarranted block on HDMI output in the Sky Go app.But I have added another star.

This connector is fantastic. I have a Sony BDV-790W with a dock for iphone or pod. Recently I upgraded my iphone from 5s to 6 plus I got an adaptor for the 5s but never gave me video. I tried the Lighting Digital AV adaptor. All I had to do was connect it to the 6 plus then to the sound system via HDMI cable put the TV on and there it was the 6 plus home screem mirrored the good thing with 6 plus it has screen orientation so on the TV I can get home screen in landscape which fills the 46 in wide screen. So now I can put my music on the iphone through the sound system without a dock plus videos and the highlights on Forest Player, youtube videos and ITV player too so for me a big ten down side expensive for what it is but thats Apple.I done this within 30 mins of delivery

Excellent, if your a traveller, particularly in poor WiFi areas, we are and since Apple prevented streaming of iTunes bought films from storage not using iTunes (Seagate Wireless as an example) on to your iPhone and then on to your Apple TV, then the simplest way of playing such films and other content, is to copy them onto your iPhone, iPad via iTunes from say a laptop and plug the iPhone, iPad into the Adapter and via an HDMI cable onto a HDTV, you get 1024 and happy kids on holiday, assuming the place your staying has a HDTV. For business it works well as a quick way of putting or mirroring content from a iPhone or iPad into a corporate screen for mass display, works without any issues, but granted, pricy and a bit niche...

I have bought this after that I have tried two other brands that needed USB power and were running on a sort of operating system and that were cheaper. My advice, the non Apple USB powered adapters are not reliable, sometimes I would connect them and they will start doing updates while the audience is waiting and or would not work for me. Also they would never start the display quickly. Also the cheaper brands required that I carry with me an external power battery to connect to the USB power input. With the Apple version this is not necessary, it is really plug and play, video quality is excellent and you also get the sound through the HDMI and the projector loud speaker if the projector has one. What ask for more?
