Excellent product, I purchased this for a iPad Pro 10.5” on iOs13 to utilise the external drive support now available. I also purchased a SanDisk ultra flair 64gb usb pen and a usb 3 hub (USB 3.0 Hub Incl. Card Reader for microSD SD - Data Hub for Notebook Netbook Laptop Ultrabook Tablet PC Macbook - Alu Design https://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B06XT3FCNG/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_tai_9L55DbGNCP3C4) and it works perfectly. When you first plug in the Apple usb 3 connection kit it does an update to the actual device ( I am guessing changing the firmware to allow the new external drive support on ios13) then I plugged in the power and the usb hub and then the usb pen and a SD card and it worked perfect I could copy direct from the Sd card to the usb pen,I could copy from the usb pen or sd card to the iPad and vice verse, the most important thing to remember is it much sphere powered and that copying files is dependant on having something on the iPad that recognises the files, if you haven’t that then zip the files up and then you can copy or move them without issue. As my main use is photographs from a sd card to be copied direct to a usb pen I haven’t a issue with other types of file but for me this works exactly how I need it to. I did discover in my research that a usb pen with a lightning plug doesn’t work with Apple files and external drive support you have to use the app that comes with the drive to use the lightning plug so that was no use to me, which is why I hav egoenthe usb hub route to be able to do what I needed as I didn’t want to have to use an additional app. This Apple connection kit powered allows the use of a lot of different usb devices but it MUST be powered as the lightning connection isn’t as capable as the new usb c type which is why Apple have changed how this works so that it now supports the new iOS 13 external drive support on the newer devices, I also got the same kit for my mum who. Had a iPad Air 10.5” 2019. Hope this helps others figure out how to get the result they want with the new iOS 13 external drive support as I struggled to find how to get to this stage and it took a lot of research and bouncing about websites etc. It was worth it as this works perfectly.

My immediate reaction when playing some of my more sonic-ally challenging CD's was, well, pure delight!. All the detail, clarity, sound stage etc. that I had not heard before was there. But, there was something extra, a sort of openness that I hadn't noticed before. I was able to distinguish individual instruments (and groups of instruments) within an orchestra. Soloists, both vocal and instrumental, displayed their positions with clarityusing the Dragonfly DAC Red. This extra fidelity (call it what you will) is very welcome IMO. Some may argue that analytical sound reproduction at this level may be at the expense of total harmony but I would respond that that is what the artist/recording originally intended.Amazing sound from my iPhone 6S with this brilliant piece of kit.Beautifully clear and subtle sound. Simple plug-and-play with minimal fiddling. Construction is good, but not great, as the leather case is too tight and once inserted you need pliers to extract! When used on my Audi A3 Bose sound system it added better clarity and musical instrument separation esp. guitars and piano.Great sound quality and compact size. The red does have more power output than the black version though which is important when driving demanding headphones, as the black is great but after listening to a friend's Black version I felt more involved with the Red version after I bought it for my own use.Oh and don't forget you'll also need to buy apple's lightning adapter cable for USB3 Camera for about £35 to get the best link for the connections (as well as allowing charging for the iphone).

Bought this one, after I’ve done mistake as most of people who looks at this item.Which is I wanted to save so I’ve purchased cheap alternative however it did worked just sometimes and wasn’t reliable. I’m assuming it was due to connection and wiring inside. To use my iPad 7th gen with my USB Drive and dongle I had to purchase new one. This time I’ve went for Apple Original. It was more expensive. It came quickly as expected with Prime delivery. Well packaged as expected from Apple where box was solid build, once opened there has been set up guide and other regulatory information. This dongle is actually smaller than the alternatives and works every time. When connecting USB memory stick (Lexar 128GB)I need to plug Lighting charger cable into it as iOS (iPad OS) limits power output which can be drained through your connector to 100 mA. Where nearly all USB drivers need more than 200 mA. (This software limitation does not apply for iPad Pro equipped with USB-C).However to use my GoPro or external drive with my iPad and iPhone XS this is very good and works reliably every time !

Nothing to complain about here. I needed this so I can transfer pictures directly from my camera to my iPad while out and about as my laptop is too heavy to carry around on a day to day basis and particularly for holiday shots. This worked a treat. Also works with my iPhone too. I plugged one end into the iPad and the other into the camera once I’d taken a few shots and it prompted an update on the iPad Pro. After a couple of minutes a box appeared at the bottom of my photo app saying ‘upload’. It gave me the option to select individual or all photos read from the camera. I didn’t check to see if it read the raw images, but for now that’s not an issue. I shoot both raw and jpeg but for this products needs jpeg is fine.I had no issues with power or speed. It’s pretty quick too which makes it pretty much ideal. There are probably cheaper ones out there that do the same job and probably some would expect this to do more....but the detail is in the description which I don’t mind paying for; it’s an Apple adapter for iPad to USB 3 camera and that’s all I need it for!

I wanted this device to load photos from an XQD card from my Nikon D500 camera onto an iPad Pro. I have a Lexar USB - XQD card reader. When I plugged the card reader into this device and then into the iPad it comes up with a "not enough power..." message. Unfortunately the lightning power lead can not be plugged in at the same time as the two physically obstruct each other. However with a short USB extension cable I was able I was able to plug it in and with all these connected (albeit a bit clumsy) the photos app opened and I was able to load up the pictures. It was much quicker in my opinion than using the "Snapbridge app - ugh. It it also much quicker than when I have used an SD card and a lightning SD card reader.I also tried connecting the camera to this adapter using the Nikon supplied USB 3 cable and this worked fine as well - quick too. Similarly I have got this to work on an iPhone 6s+.So very happy with my purchase.

This is an essential device for connecting USB devices to an Apple iPad or iPhone while still retaining the ability to charge your Apple device at the same time. Compliant, low power devices such as midi keyboards can also be supplied with power via this device. Higher powered devices can still be connected through a powered USB hub daisy chained to this connector. It is expensive, but it comes from Apple, so to some extent the cost is an irrelevance, it just works straight out of the box. The device is heavier than its' appearance would suggest and plugging in for the first time, a software update was downloaded automatically. This indicates that far from being a simple adapter, there are some complex electronics included in the casing. Once the software updatevhad completed, a variety of USB devices were tested with an iPad and iPhone and they all worked exactly as expected.

I bought this in the hope that I would be able to connect my old midi Keyboard to my ipad pro for apps such as garage band and piano learning apps, via a midi interface cable I already own, when I first plugged everything in I had to download an update for the connector which went smoothly but on opening my midi apps nothing worked at all. I was thinking ill probably have to return it as its not going to work, but I thought I'd try restarting my ipad pro incase the update needed to finish its install, and thankfully this did the trick, it now works flawlessly and I'm very happy, cheaper ones may have worked too, but I didn't want to risk plugging in non apple accessories into my 800 quid ipad pro!!Which I have to say has been the best tablet I've ever seen or had the pleasure to use!!

USB3 to Lightning adaptor with additional lightning power socket, good quality well made like all Apple products, unfortunately overpriced but this does do the job for connecting my usb keyboard/synth to my iPhone 7, had to bite the bullet and buy Apple original as all other cheap equivalent are not supported on Apple devices and stop working after a minute of use, I’m sure in time I’ll be great full I paid the extra for a quality product that properly works, unfortunately Apple have got us musicians etc by the short and curlys on this one! So don’t waste your money buying cheap Chinese equivalents that also fall apart in your hand after a couple of uses just buy the Apple original you’ll begreat full in the end as is very sturdy adaptor.

This works perfectly with my SSD on iPadOS 13. Just plug a lightning power lead as well as the SSD into the adapter, and then plug the adapter into the iPad, and the SSD appears in the Files app.I’m sure it could be cheaper than this if Apple wanted it to be (I think £15 - £20 would be a more reasonable price), however it’s actually not much more expensive than its competition; if you wanted to use a cheap adapter to access external storage on an iPad/iPhone, then you would also need to get USB hub to provide it with power, and getting both of those things would end up costing about the same as this whilst being less convenient.

I bought this to use with my Dragonfly Red DAC, so that's what this review will cover.Firstly - you get a smaller version without charging pass-through capability. I think that depending on your usage of the Dragonfly, that may or may not be the best option for you.If you plan to use the DAC on short commutes etc then get the smaller one. If, like me, you plan to sit at a desk for hours at a time then you'll want this one so you don't drain your phone battery while you listen to your audio.Quality is great as with all Apple "OEM" stuff - I do think this is overpriced hence the one star reduction.

I have used this to send Amazon ultra HD music to my offboard Arcam Dac with complete success. In addition it does not need to be powered to send the music from the ipad to the dac, but it is useful just to keep it permanently charged. One issue I did find was that if powering the adapter make sure you are careful of quality of power. I was using a dynadock and the result was electrical interference consuming the whole of the amplifier stage. Changing to a proper ipad charger resolved the issue.I would also say that it is a little on the expensive side for what it actually is.

I didn’t buy this to connect to a camera or memory card reader. I bought it to run a midi keyboard for garage band and other midi apps on my iPhone 7. It was very expensive for what is does, but it’s a genuine apple product so you kind of expect it. It runs my midi keyboard perfectly, either with or without the power attached. The only thing it’s lacking is the ability to plug in headphones. If you connect to them to the lighting port you get a messages saying it’s not a supported accessory.

Bought this to connect my iPad to camera on holiday, to download photos for backup and view on larger iPad screen. As usual with apple products, was very well packaged, and made to high standard. Worked flawlessly for my purposes, and am sure will last for many years. Only knocked off stars for value due to “apple tax” on apple products, but have bought 3rd party adapters in past and ended up binning them as they simply do not last. Great product, and just works.

We all know that Apple overcharge for their adapters, but sometimes you have to bite the bullet and pay up. I had tried a much cheaper unofficial product, which despite also having the lightning charging port, did not work - both my iPhone 11 Pro and my iPad complained that there was insufficient power with the unofficial adapter. This one works perfectly out of the box.(For the record - using this with a Fender Mustang GT40 electric guitar amp)

The lightning connector on this device is a nice touch, allowing you to charge your device while connected to your usb device of choice BUT it only seems to support power - your lightning adapter headphones wont work but that’s a small niggle. Works well but if your usb device is power hungry you might need a powered usb hub. Also, not Argos’ fault but this device is at least £20 more expensive than not should be. That’s Apple gear for you..
