I bought this rum for my husband as a gift for Father's Day from our baby daughter. The rum itself I know to be nice as I bought it for my own father a few years ago and my Dad said it was delicious. The item arrived this morning and although well packed in bubble wrap and a cardboard box, when I removed the bubble wrap the presentation box looked scruffy. It looked as if someone had opened the top of the box and had torn it while doing so. The bottle itself is beautiful but considering the price I would have expected all round quality including the presentation box. I haven't got enough time to return it and have another one sent out before Father's Day and I know my husband won't mind since as soon as he gets given it I imagine it'll be out of the box and straight into his glass.

I've not bought this rum from Amazon, as I've been buying it elsewhere (Sorry Amazon) LOL.It's probably not as smooth as the lovely bottled 1919, 8-year old version, but it does have a lovely, but not too sweet vanilla smoothness about it that I quite like. I can see myself going for an 1824 one day, as I'm mostly settled on the Angostura selection of rums. Though if I could, I'd fill my shelves with as many Grenadian white and golden rums as possible. ;)Come on Amazon! Where are the Clarke's Court rums, the Rivers Royale rums, the Dunfermline and the Westerhall rums?

Bought this as a present, on the website the bottle shows a cork bottle top but when it arrived it had a screw top. I was a little disappointed as the recipient of the rum had expected the bottle to have the cork top. I should have read the reviews about this particular bottle before purchasing as it was mentioned on other reviews which I read after the fact.

From the sophisticated box to the presentation bottle with a cork, assuring quality this is the most splendid premium rum ever tasted. The aroma is very strong and totally seductive. The taste is outstanding. Strong full body mellow on the tongue. Even if you’re not a full blooded pirate give it a try, even just once-it’s knockout.

The rum is delicious, its presentation is beautiful, fantastic bottle and packaging. The only let down was damage too the actual box. Lucky it wasn't a present. That aside its still a great.Poor delivery from amazon with the damage, but lets not take away from the great product.

This is the new 1919 bottle with a screw top and plastic insert. It is now sold like that all over the world including Trinidad.It is still the same 8 year old 1919 rum that I think is the smoothest mellowest rum out there and my default choice before any other.

So Smooth - no taste of "burnt or bitter".Better than Rums that are twice the price.Can easily be enjoyed straight, but if you want to pollute it with mixers be careful, you're going to want much less mixer than you would with a lesser rum.

Really enjoyed this taste. It's not cheap but is a traditional rum flavour. I find it to be clean and very enjoyable. I've had 3 bottles of Angostura and will always have space on the shelf for the brand.

Bought for me as a Father's Day gift, this is an absolutely beautiful, smooth rum - the best I've ever had.Taste-wise, this is as different from a "normal" rum as a single malt whisky is from a blend.

This rum is beautiful, bought as a gift and the box and bottle look premium. The taste is lovely, and drunk straight goes down smoothly. Would definitely buy again for a nice occasion.

I got this as an anniversary gift for my husband - he drinks it on the rocks and loves the flavour, it's not a rum you would cover up with a mixer well worth savouring the flavour

A cheap and cheerful rum that has plenty of flavour and is quite sip able but perhaps best with your favourite mixer. Enjoy neat with ice but not as smooth as some.

The rum itself is delicious. Be warned though, not only does the picture not match the bottle that arrived, my delivery had also leaked so the box was damaged.

A sweet rum that goes down well in all weather. Very smooth and worth the price. I do not say this lightly, as most booze these days is NOT worth the price!

This Rum is the finest I've ever tasted its smooth and just perfect in every way I can say its worth every penny and a must try you will not be disappointed
