I had to get one after being impressed by one that a friend had. I already possess one of those 'Victorinox' potato peelers that are set at a 45 degree angle. The blade on that is superbly sharp but I find the angle of the device feel's a bit odd in my grip. On the other hand I can hold this slim peeler as I would a knife and the serrated blade ( like all 'Victorinox' blades) is ( and will remain ) wickedly sharp. The acquisition of this peeler provides me with a very useful extra culinary cutting device, one use of which is to slice thin slivers of apple over my sugar-free granola in the mornings. It's also good at shaving at the edge of a block of cheddar cheese for sandwiches without the need of a grater etc.If you wanna peel a tomato go ahead, it's a free world. It's surgically sharp enough to do it after all.Eamonn

A good peeler should be sharp, should it not?Well this defiantly is sharp and one does have to take some care not to catch ones fingers. But surely that is the case for any peeler. I purchased this as our old goodgrip peeler has become ineffective. Mind you it was never very good.We have a Victorinox left handed peeler (I am left handed) but my wife (right handed does not like it). It is a pull up towards you (if that makes sense) where this style I would describe as movement is side to side.My wife love it and has stopped taking chunks out of her fingers. She says it is more versatile than other peelers she has tried, due to the created edge.Able to peel veg and fruits with ease that you would usually struggle with such a Kiwi fruit. It get a big thumbs up form us.

I've only used the Victorinox peeler for potatoes so far. It peeled them with ease. The peel wasn't so thick that it seemed like I was peeling half the potato away - I've had peelers that did this in the past. The blade allowed the peel to fall away from the cutting area, so it didn't get caught up or was in the way. The peeled surface had little grooves left in from the shape of the blade, but I'm fine with that. The handle is comfortable to hold too. This peeler is set to become my favourite kitchen tool.

I have owned various Victorinox swiss army knives over the years and when our peeler finally rusted away this was the obvious choice on Amazon, especially at half price! The advert boasts that you can peel a tomato with this product so I put it to the test and was amazed how simply it peeled the tomato. Potatoes and carrots were a breeze too.The handle is nice and thick and easy to hold. Highly recommended for the elderly or those who struggle to grip other makes.

I already have a very sharp Y shape peeler but wanted one this shape for peeling round objects as I kept cutting myself using the other one. This is very sharp. I managed to make some fine shavings off a piece of hard Parmesan. (This is a good complement to my other peeler and both are useful in different ways. I prefer the Y shape one for peeling long vegetables or peeling a squash). Packaging says it will peel tomatoes and kiwi. Not tried but I don't doubt it.

I bought this peeler in order to peel citrus fruits for infusion purposes. Most peelers are too narrow to peel away an orange rind. This peeler was excellent, it removed the zesty rind with ease, without taking a thick layer of pith with it. The peeler is really sharp, easy to handle and has a good action in use. I used it for 7 oranges and found it worked like a dream. I love Victorinox, their products are of a high standard across the range. Highly recommend.

I bought this peeler after having lost a previous one. Quite simply the most effective peeler I've ever used. It is difficult perhaps to understand how one could be so impressed with a peeler, but this really does make a significant difference to peeling. The edge is very sharp and it is a ridged design not flat, it peels into both soft and hard surfaces and the design I believe helps you not to catch your fingers.

This is such a fantastic peeler, I cannot find the words to do it justice. And yes, it will peel something as soft and juicy as a tomato. If you know someone who loves cooking and they don't have one of these, get them one. (It would make a fab secret Santa gift).Well done Victorinox :)Super efficient at what it's designed for.very sharp so don't let the children use it.Yes, I recommend this product.

Great peeler, very sharp and easy to use for carrot, pumpkin or zucchini. For potatoes it can be too sharp if (just like me) you peel from the outside towards the inside (means pressing the blade towards your thumb...you might cut the tip of your thumb!). Otherwise I love the stripes it leaves on the vegetables because it makes them more stable and less slippery later for cutting. Great quality!

Pleased with the robustness and easy of cleaning this one piece peeler. Was a bit surprised to see the serated cutting edgees of the product, guess I didn't pay enough attention to the description. Works well and does what I need it to. Had a giggle when the packaging said that it was suitable for peeling 'peperoni' in the english translation but the proper term in French and Spanish.

My god! What to say about this. Bought it as the existing peeler is showing its age. It may be a sign of my age but I can't believe I could be so enthusiastic about a kitchen utensil. This is thing is mental, it's revolutionised my tattie peeling, it's just phenomenal. The speed I'm getting through the spuds is a sight to behold! And the price? Cheap as the chips it helps to make

I tested various types of peelers from various manufacturers (including Solingen and Fiskars) and this Victorinox turned out to be best of them when it comes to peeling long-shaped vegetables (e.g. carrots, parsnip). Peeling with it is 3 times faster than peeling with a knife (estimated). I use this model somewhat often for several years and it's still sufficiently sharp.

I lost my old fantastic peeler during Christmas time, I am so upset, and can't any good one in any supermarket. Some of them are very blunt, some took half potatoes off after I peeled them. So after new year, I found this one on the Amazon, it is absolutely amazing. It is very sharp, and peel just the skin part off, very very good quality, very happy me.

I bought this because I lost our first one and missed it so much! It works really well. It is very sharp and will cut/peel almost any vegetable or fruit. The slight drawback is the ‘teeth’ on the blades - they can cause difficulty peeling soft items as they tend to drag or cut into the peel. Otherwise- the best peeler I have ever used in some 50years!

Bought in preference to a “T” shaped peeler, as I’ve always used a Lancashire Peeler for potatoes and root vegetables.Works very well, taking a thin strip of skin and leaves an attractive very finely grooved surface. However, its so sharp that you need to peel AWAY from your thumb or fingers, preferably on a board, to avoid any risk of lacerations.
