My potato peeler got broke... After 20 years of absolutely dedicated service and moving 4 times without being lost. My idiot boyfriend decided to use it to remove a VW badge from the back of my van - Who Does That!!! I was utterly livid... He couldn't understand why "it's a potato peeler I'll buy you another one" "It wasn't JUST a potato peeler it was the bestest sharpest most easy to use potato peeler I've had for over 20yrs and YOU BROKE IT"I admit I lost my sh*t because I couldn't for the life of me remember the make.I went on Amazon and brought a Sabatier peeler - it's a Sabatier must be good eh? They make good knives - it arrived next day and O M G the worst peeler I've ever tried I could have peeled easier with a finger nail it would have been sharper!!!So I looked at reviews and ordered an OXO one next (so far we're over 15quid on peelers!) it was a great peeler but the cutting head moved and I was used to a fixed blade. But it would do....Then I was listening to a book on Audible last week and a Victorianox knife was mentioned and the bells in my head exploded... That was it... It was a Victorianox peeler I had before!! To say I was ecstatic was an understatement (yes lockdowns making the little things matter I know!!) so I quickly ordered one and it arrived yesterday... Apart from the handle design having changed from 20yrs ago (it's slightly thinner which doesn't sit in the hand as good as it did tbh) it's still as sharp and as wonderful to peel with... So 20 odd quid later I'm a happy bunny and the boyf is forgiven.."Just a peeler" ???

This is the best potato peeler you can get. It is sharp, but works just as well when the sharpness wears off after a year or so. It is ergonomically perfect. I see reviews saying “the handle is small” but you should hold this peeler between the 4 pads of your fingertips and the fleshy pads just below your finger base. This leaves your thumb free to hold and manipulate the potato. The peeler cuts to just the right depth consistently and it can be used left or right handed. It is elegant and simple in design, the stainless blade will not tarnish and it is strong enough for you to use the tip to “de-eye” a potato. It is one of the safest potato peelers to use (no chance of it getting out of control and causing a cut)and it floats if you prefer to peel in water. I have purchased one of these peelers for a few of my friends and they love them. Buy one of these and you will not be disappointed.

My old faithful Victorinox peeler which we have had for years, since long before we had a dishwasher, is finally showing signs of wear in the wooden handles, probably as a result of being put in the dishwasher. I was please to find this one which is much the same apart from having a plastic handle. I note that the wooden handle version is also available on Amazon.I picked this one because I thought the plastic handle would be even more durable to that of its predecessor. It certainly feels the part. When I was using it to peel vegetables ready for Christmas dinner it felt comfortable in my had and was very easy to use. I was able to finely scrape the carrots, peel potatoes with ease and use the pointy end to dig out 'eyes'from the spuds. The blade is pretty stiff and tough. The handle may not quite have the tactile joy of a wooden one but as already mentioned feels good to hold.

This is the best substitute I've found so far for my old faithful 'Nutbrown' Lancashire single-slot right-handed peeler, still going strong after goodness knows how many years. However, I'm not sure how long it will be before it finally falls to bits, hence my purchase of the Victorinox. The Victorinox is the same length as the 'Nutbrown', and slightly lighter, but I prefer the 'Nutbrown' rounded handle with its famous orange-red string, making it sit comfortably and securely in the hand. Despite its years, my 'Nutbrown' is razor-sharp and pares more thinly and with less effort than the Victorinox - but, as I said at the beginning, this Victorinox will do until somebody re-invents the 'Nutbrown'.Anybody who's had one of these superb old peelers will know exactly what I mean!

I lost a potato peeler a couple of months back and I've bought so many from pound shops and supermarkets in the meantime but none of them lived up to the last one. They were either too sharp (not great for your fingers and nails when cutting small potatoes in particular), too blunt, or the peel got caught up in the blades and I was constantly having to pull it out. Not so with this Victorinox peeler! It doesn't look anything special, but it's absolutely perfect. It won't leave you with scars every time you peel the spuds and it disperses the peel brilliantly (possibly something to do with the curvature of the blades). I'm amazed I feel compelled to write a review about a potato peeler, but after two months of hell, it needs saying: This is the one!

I know it’s only a peeler but....I didn’t realise how good it was at its job until I lost it. I had this peeler previously but lost it ( thrown into the compost bin with peelings I think)! The other three peelers we dug out from various drawers at home just didn’t have the same combination of being nice to hold (even for my large hands), and efficient to use. They either skipped off the surface meaning lots of short, bitty strokes to do the peeling or, they dug into the flesh too much. This peeler however takes off just the right depth of skin in long, easy strokes. It works really well on the potatoes and carrots we mainly use it for. There, can’t believe I’ve eulogised so much about a simple kitchen tool.....

As another review says, the only reason I am buying this is because I seem to have thrown my old one out with the peelings! I bought a non- victorinox one to replace it (as I can't get the real thing in my local shops) which looked the same, but it has been a huge disappointment and is not as good, or as comfortable in the hand, so I am buying two this time! This peels potatoes, sweet potatoes, carrots, parsnips, etc; makes thin slices out of courgettes, carrots and cucumbers; makes parmesan curls. Sharp, but the design makes it fairly hard to cut yourself (unlike the swivel ones!) Takes only a thin peel off, not a thick layer, so less wastage.

Potato peeler are a very personal items, you either love them or hate them. A favourite peeler is very difficult to replace. I often find my fingers get peeled as much as the veg, or it takes too much off the veg. After many fails, this one has proved satisfactory for me. (High praise). It has a small handle which suits my hands. It has sharp peeling edges, and good geometry which gives a peeling action i like. The long metal edges are NOT sharp or toothed, and do not cut my fingers. The tip IS sharp for eye removal. Yes it is a bit pricey but it suits me perfectly, and takes up little drawer space. After many fails, this is a keeper for me.

This peeler outshines every type of potato peeler I have tried - and I have tried all sorts. It's strong, sharp and perfectly angled to remove the potato skin evenly and efficiently. I have been using mine for over three years and it is as sharp as ever and still looks like new. So good that I have bought them for my two daughters, who also are delighted with them. I am today ordering two more - to store away just in case my current one gets lost and Amazon stop selling them. Couldn't imagine what I would do without this little beauty.

Nearly 15 years ago my wife and I visited the main Victorinox shop in Geneva looking for a souvenir from our visit to the lovely city, what did we buy, yep 3 Victorinox peelers as the ones we were able to buy in the UK had consistently either not worked or rusted. Ours has been in almost daily use for 15 years and is still perfect, buy one you won't regret the slight additional cost over rubbish ones.Just buying another for a friend as clearly we don't have to go to Geneva now for another, isn't the internet great!!

The only problem with this peeler was finding it - thank goodness for Amazon because almost all conventional kitchen shops don't stock it. I guess it is too simple, too efficient. Easy to hold, a well tested design and ideally suited to right and left handed people. It works, as its ancestors have done, efficiently, simply - and it is easy to clean - no fiddly bits to trap unwary fingers or residual peelings. Go for it, it works. My only comment would be a slightly thicker handle would help arthritic users.

My husband is fussy about his potato peelers and his favourite one was beginning to fall apart. I got him one as a stocking filler for Christmas, but it had to go back to the shop as it didn't do the job - it bent on first use and didn't peel properly either. When I saw this Victorinox peeler, I guessed I was onto a winner. We have lots of cooking knives from the company and they do a great job.I was right. He loves it. And, unlike his old wooden one, it can even go in the dishwasher. Happy days.

I looked everywhere for a peeler like this when my old faithful disappeared after about 20 years. This is easy to grip, sharp blade that glides through vegetables, removing only a fine slither of peel with each sweep. Whilst sharp for the job, fingers and hands are protected due to the design. Easy to clean and good quality. I'm sure we will be together for the next 20 years or more! Buy it - it beats all the others. Many thanks to the supplier - I don't know how I'd manage without it.

This is the 3rd Victorinox Peeler we have had in 20 yrs!! Only replaced due to loosing the other two!! I don't think you will be disappointed with this, both the Black plastic version and wooden version are Excellent, it will Not go blunt it will do the job very well even after ten years use, in my opinion you will Not find one better than this, but do shop around for the best price. I hope this helps. - 10/10 for this item??

Super little peeler with a smooth, easy to grip handle and a razor sharp fixed blade that cuts the vegetable rather than your fingers. Takes off neat, even slivers of peel, doesn't dig too deep, and I would have to agree with other reviewers that this is probably the best peeler I have ever used. Robustly made and goes through the dishwasher with no problems. I'm delighted with it and would thoroughly recommend.
