We received this peeler as a wedding gift and it worked great for about a year and a half. Unfortunately, the little tabs that join the blade assembly to the body seem to be the weak point in the design and the blade assembly broke free from the peeler. The peeler is somewhat pricey so, rather than replace it, we went back to using a no-name peeler. After a few days of using the no-name peeler we realized how much the Kyocera peeler had spoiled us for the time that we had it. We broke down and ordered a new Kyocera peeler from Amazon. I have read that Kyocera are very good about replacing those peelers where the blade has broken off but, unfortunately,we threw our broken peeler away after a failed attempt at gluing it back together a few days before I read those reviews. The fact that we would buy a second $17 peeler after our first one broke inside of two years is a testament to the usefulness of this tool. I have nothing but good things to say about its utility in the kitchen.Pros:Peels well, no bindingBlade extremely sharp (and stays that way)Rotating headFits well in the handCons:Plastic Tabs that hold blade on are too smallAside from the tiny tabs that hold the blade on it is well made and an excellent peeler. I would strongly recommend it and intend to buy another for my parents shortly.

GREAT GADGET!!!! HIGHLY RECOMMEND!!! STAYS VERY SHARP AND POSITION OF BLADE IS ADJUSTABLE TO USE AT DIFFERENT ANGLES.I purchased this peeler approx. 3 years ago and until yesterday when it broke, it was the best peeler I ever owned!!! I think that I more than got my money's worth with the 3 years I used it. I am ordering another one today as well as the "straight, vertical one." I have been looking for a 2nd one of these(before mine broke) and could not find it in any of the major cookware stores(Sur La Table, William Sonoma. Bed Bath & Beyond, and Macy's)do not carry it.If you are worried about the tiny plastic pieces that hold the blade, breaking, than order the vertical one.It is made differently.YOU WILL NOT BE DISAPPOINTED ONCE YOU USE A CERAMIC BLADE PEELER. JUST WATCH YOUR FINGERS!!!!UPDATE: 1/18/2012 I am still using this peeler and it is just as sharp as the first time I used itin November 2010!! HIGHLY RECOMMEND!!!!UPDATE: 2/19/2013 This peeler is totally awesome!!! It is just as sharp today as the first time I used it inNovember 2010!!! I have had this for over 2 years now and use it at least 4 times a week!!!HIGHLY RECOMMEND!!!!

I bought the Kyocera CP-20 Perfect Peeler in 2013 on the recommendation of another left handed cook. If you're a lefty, you know what a joy it is to have a tool that can actually be adjusted instead of just making do with another righty tool. This peeler is hands-down the best and sharpest I have ever owned, and I've also purchased several for friends and family members. Then, last week in the middle of a cucumber something snapped, and the head would no longer stay in position. Apparently a little pin holding it had broken. I was all ready to shell out for a new one, when I read some of the reviews on this site that mentioned the warranty. I called Kyocera's warranty department, explained what happened and provided the date of purchase, and sure enough they are standing behind their product and sending me a brand-new peeler. The only cost is $5 for shipping. Great product and great customer service!

I can't praise this product enough, as it is hands-down the sharpest and most convenient peeler I've ever owned. I was surprised that some reviewers felt that this wasn't the sharpest blade around. I've never used or seen anything remotely close to it.I vaguely remember a reviewer saying that theirs broke, but didn't give it another thought until last night when mine broke too. I just called Kyocera, all it took was a quick internet search to find info about their 5 year warranty. Within three minutes they had taken my address to ship a new peeler......and never even asked me to prove my purchase. When I commented on that, the rep said "we trust you". So my replacement is to arrive later this week.Wow.If it breaks once in a while, but Kyocera will replace it so easily, I'll keep on reaping praise.FYI - Kyocera's customer service number for US and Canada is 888-700-7371

Have you ever wished you could peel a potato like they do on these reality cooking shows on television? Well I did, and now I know the great world these chefs live in, pertaining to potato peeling. This peeler glides through, even the toughest, skin of the potato either pulling the peeler towards you or left or right hand peeling. This thing is great, I have wanted a better peeler, in view of the fact my peeler is old and dull. Well I bought the best darned vegetable peeler I could ever imagine. I find myself trying to create situations where I need to use my Kyocera kitchen tools and knives preparing foods.I not only recommend this ceramic peeler I also recommend all my Kyocera knives, guillotines, and peelers. The prices are a little high but you definitely get what you pay for.

The benefits to this peeler over a standard peeler are two-fold: superior blade and ergonomic design.Pros:Adjustable head angle -- this is great for doing large projects and switching between hands.Ergonomic design -- in addition to the adjustable head, the soft grip and thumb-crook at the neck make this peeler easy on the handsCeramic blade -- I have always been a fan of ceramic blades (despite their purported fragility). This one does not disappoint and I have yet to break it.Cons:No potato eye removerDialing action of the adjustable head feels as thought it *may* wear down. It hasn't, and I haven't heard anyone else complain of this, I'm just sayin.Red is the only color available. It doesn't clash with my kitchen, but I could see some people being disappointed in this

This peeler is literally this most amazing peeler I've ever used in my life, and I've used many a peeler in my years. First of all, and most importantly, it has a scary sharp ninja-honed peel murdering blade. The white ceramic insert is dangerously sharp... if you're a veggie anyhow. It makes peeling anything ridiculously easy, we're talking hot knife through room temperature butter easy. The handle is super comfortable and the head swivels roughly 360 degrees to make peeling more ergonomically pleasing. After using a craptastic peeler for years, this peeler literally made my day. Just for kicks, I peeled a whole giant bag of organic carrots. Took me less than half the time it normally would have, and my hand wasn't even sore. Love it.

I've had mine a long time and it's still razor sharp. I carefully store it with blade down in silverware drawer cuz it's so sharp. I do not put in dishwasher, rather swish in soapy water, rinse and air dry, or just rinse in very hot water. You twist the little black knob to suit your blade angle (for lefties or righties) and to suit your peeling style--to either use like a knife or as shaver peeler. Or turn it perpendicular to scrape long veggies like eggplant or for 'tougher' veggies. It has a good nonslip grip. No fear of rust on this puppy (it's some kind of tough plastic). Love it and would buy again. No problems whatsoever. I'm a picky kitchen gadget queen so my word dependable.

I think this is the fourth one of these peelers that I have owned. The first one broke after a year or so, so I bought a new one. The second one broke after a couple of months - I emailed Kyocera and they sent me a new one immediately (yay for Kyocera customer service!) That one somehow got lost (maybe I will still find it?), and I missed it so much that I ordered another one. After reading many reviews, it seems that this is a wonderful peeler (underline wonderful), but the plastic housing around the blade is prone to breaking. If yours breaks, be sure to contact Kyocera.

I have been using one of these peelers for about four years and honestly wouldn't contemplate changing to any other. The ergonomics are superb and because of the blade angle there is no need to exert much pressure when using.I would agree that there seems to be a design flaw in the frame for the blade as one of the lugs broke on my peeler (after four years of regular use it has to be said) but an email to Kyocera resulted in a replacement part arriving in a matter of days: this is far better customer service than I expected for such a humble product.Just get one.....

I received one of these peelers from my mom as a gift and when my daughter was helping me peel carrots, she accidentally broke it! Ah! I was so bummed. I immediately went online to Amazon and purchased TWO so I would never be without my favorite kitchen tool. :) It is very sharp, the head is adjustable (so it works if you are right or left-handed) and it can zip through peeling a potato (my LEAST favorite job) in no time. I love this product. Thanks, Mom, for the peeler and thanks to Amazon for shipping everything so fast!

This slices through and does not seem to get blunt, its a very slightly different knack bu I got used to it quickly - you can position the blade where you want using the swivel. After some years, the blade came detached on my original - but I was so pleased I bought a new one without hesitation. There is only one blade so if you slice different ways e.g. towards you and then away from you the blade has to be swivelled around from one side to the other - I dropped a star for this as it does bother some people.

There is only one minor flaw in the design: the plastic that the blade is attached to will eventually break. However, this is the third one I've purchased over 5 years, so it is pretty robust. The handle is comfortable, the blade stays sharp (even after dishwasher cleaning over years), DOES NOT RUST, and it has a nice weight and balance. Though the blade rotates 90 degrees, i only use it in one orientation and never had concerns about it adjusting while being used.

This peeler is the last peeler you will ever purchase, except that you may want to purchase quantities for all of your family and friends!!! To be able to rotate the blade to suit your individual hand is a definite plus forsomeone that struggles with arthritis! The ceramic blade stays sharp, I have had my peeler for a couple of years, its condition is just the same as the day I purchased it. My recent purchases have been for gifts. This is truly a No.10 rating.

12.3.2015

I have used this peeler on many occasions and found it handle the job very well. Certainly better then a knife. Of all the peelers I have used in my 70 years this was the sharpest. I can see the life of this peeler won't hold up to some commercial ones I have used in the past but then the cost of this and the ease of use justified the cost. I can always buy many more for the cost of a commercial one !! Highly recommend to my family and friends !!
