Uncharted 2: Among Thieves picks up a couple of years after Uncharted Drake's Fortune. You're immediately thrust in to the action with Drake escaping for his life as as he has somehow got himself stuck on a train which just so happens to be hanging off a mountain. This sets the tone for Among Thieves very well because most of the game hooks you in and doesn't let you go, especially in the first act.For its part Uncharted 2 works much the same way as its predecessor in most areas. It looks good with Bluepoint having done a great job with the remaster, it sounds good, is well acted, has funny banter between the characters and so on,but this time around it also has a much better story than its predecessor and feels less like an imitation of a D-list Hollywood movie and much more like its own thing, which gives it a charm that was lacking in the original. This allows for a more compelling narrative that has better twists and turns and is much better at keeping you on the edge of your seat. A big improvement was also the music as in the first game it was often erratic and would do odd things like playing sharp whistle or sudden drum sounds that just felt distracting, whereas here you're more often treated to actual melodies which add rather than detract from the experience.Gameplay wise you once again do puzzles, platforming, combat sequences and set pieces, but this time around there are also additional stealth elements, which are sometimes mandatory. This largely again makes the core experience in what you do identical to the first game on the surface, but just about everything has been improved and tweaked to make the experience that much smoother. Puzzles for example were fairly dull in the original and are shorter and stripped back here, which allows for better pacing, while the combat sequences have better weapon variety and now allow you to do stealth in some sections to mix up the gameplay, with the stealth itself being rudimentary but effective. There are still some issues present, like having cheap one hit deaths or directing enemy spawns right behind you, but generally it's much better regardless and is a competent experience now.It wouldn't be Uncharted without the massive set pieces and in Among Thieves they pretty much do what is required and get your heart pumping as you try to get out of ridiculous situations, like jumping out of a falling train or getting out of a collapsing building and what have you, and each time they never failed to make me perk up and get really in to whatever was happening. Finally there was ample platforming to be had, and this is also improved as you get fewer opportunities to fling yourself off a ledge to an immediate death, though still has some confusing set dressing as it's sometimes unclear how to move on to the next bit as you don't know what is and isn't interactable. There are still issues as occasionally the platforming can get a bit long in the tooth, as can the combat sequences for that matter, though in general it is much improved regardless. The one thing that wasn't improved, however, is Uncharted's insistence in delving in to weird mythology nonsense towards the final fifth or so of the game. A similar thing happens like in the original game, which I won't spoil, where you suddenly go from fighting humans to fighting mythological enemies that are just dull bullet sponges which are an absolute chore to fight, though having played the first couple of games now I can only assume that they'll do this in the others too, which is not something I'm looking forward to.In overall terms though Uncharted 2: Among Thieves is still a solid and enjoyable game that is not without flaws, and is a massive improvement over the original.

GAME REVIEW:Took me about a week to finish the game. It's aged really well and was so much fun to play. Had a great atmosphere. Those who don't know what to expect it's very similar to the Tomb Raider games.PRODUCT REVIEW:The game arrived very quickly (early) and in very good condition.
