God of War III remains to this day as one of my all time favourite games and an adventure I will never forget. Having a tremendous interest in History, Mythology, gore and swords, in 2005 God of War showed me that Disney got it wrong with Hercules and that Ancient Greece was far bleaker and terrifying, and that cutting off the heads of slaves and Greek figureheads was a far more enjoyable history lesson than anything I’ll ever do in school. Spawning a series that has always gone from strength to strength (Ascension wasn’t bad really) and each title being considered one of that generation’s greatest hits, it’s no surprise that Sony wished to revive the series for newcomers to experience. With the first 2 entries already receiving HD facelifts on the PS3, it was only a matter of time before God of War III was to be re-released, however with the PS4 proving to be incredibly popular and appealing to first time Sony console owners, are a huge percentage of its audiences even aware of the franchise? Or is this just a pricey fee for fans to experience it again?Re-releasing as a celebratory blood stained party hat to honour the Sony series’ 10th anniversary, God of War III Remastered is the latest Sony blockbuster to get a next-gen revival. Originally arriving in 2010, God of War III continued the story of Kratos, a once fearless Spartan General turned Greek God turned powerless civilian who longs to avenge the death of his family, who he killed himself by the way. Newcomers to the franchise will feel completely lost from the opening level as God of War III chronologically takes place right where the brilliant God of War II concluded. Kratos, now siding with Gaia and the Titans, are scaling up Mount Olympus to take Zeus’ head and defeat the Gods once and for all. When the game was originally released it was met with global critical acclaim and still now it is regarded as one of the PS3’s greatest games due to its stunning visuals, chaotic gameplay and truly mind blowing level designs, but did it really need to be re-released? It’s by far the most action-packed and heart-pounding game in the franchise with its bigger budget and established audience; however the first game set the tone and pace of the franchise, which makes it an essential play for people experiencing it for the first time. God of War III Remastered improves on everything on an already magnificent gaming achievement, but is it worth splashing another £30 on?Unless you’ve played it before, then yes. Visually God of War III is breathtaking from start to finish, the gameplay is brutal, stylish and sharp, but throw in some slightly updated graphics and a faster frame rate and you’ve got God of War III Remastered, which as you’ll see isn’t anything particularly special. The game’s opening level is still my favourite moment in gaming history. Never before or since has a game captivated me so much in the first 30 seconds, and despite experiencing this before my opinion hadn’t changed at all upon firing this up on the PS4. As I progressed further into the game it all came flooding back to me, the boss fights, the weapons, the combat and the environments, all of which are impressive and unparalleled 5 years later. As a huge fan of the franchise, I can notice the visual upgrades that have been applied in God of War III Remastered, the backgrounds look sharper, the enemies are more detailed and the blood, oh the blood looks even shinier. Also as a huge fan I cannot deny that this game was already groundbreaking, so to be honest the upscaled graphics don’t stimulate me an awful lot, or enough to the point I’d recommend it to other avid fans. God of War III Remastered has nicely been given a kick up the jacksy with a more impressive frame rate which makes Kratos’ epic bloody combos and magic abilities look better than ever before. Again this was never an issue for the original release as at that point it was as smooth and satisfying as ever, but in this age where kids will fap over frame rate and speeds it’s nice to see the effort they’ve gone into in making it as look and play as good as physically possible. The changes are fairly minor, but they do make God of War III look better than ever before and newcomers to the franchise will find what’s on offer more than satisfying. There’s no denying how spectacular this game is, however, it was just as spectacular in 2010 and in regards to its content and gameplay nothing has changed. Sporting incredible, glorious visuals not so different from the original release, God of War III Remastered is a terrific game that, unfortunately, suffers from a price too high to deem it purchasable for returning fans. Unless you go crazy for taking photos mid execution with the newly included ‘Photo Mode’ or this is your first time meeting the huggable Spartan Kratos, then you’ll find an action packed and bloody excellent adventure that still stands as one of the last generation’s all-time greats, even if you are a little lost in the narrative. But if you’re like me, a God of War nut still equipped with a PS3, I strongly recommend you pick it up for a quarter of the price and go replay the original, as his scowls, jowls and frowns still look as fabulous 5 years on.

I have never played any of the previous God of War games as I don't own a PS3 so God of War 3 for PS4 is my first experience. Looking at the trailer I wasn't sure if it would be my type of game due to the combat style but within the first 5 minutes of playing the game I fell in love with it. The opening scene is just breath taking and is a good indicator of how crazy this game actually is. I would have to say the enemies/bosses in this game are some of the best I have ever seen in any game. Not only are the bosses visually stunning but battling them is extremely fun. If I'm honest, some of the bosses were difficult and it did get frustrating at times but overall this doesn't hinder the gamein any way and it felt more rewarding once I finally did beat them. The variety of weapons and special moves does keep the combat system interesting and they each look beautifully gory in their own way when tearing into the enemies. As mentioned earlier one thing that I wasn't sure if I would like is the style of fighting in the game as everything seemed rather fast in the gameplay trailer and so I thought it mainly involved button bashing. However, there is a lot more skill involved in choosing the right weapons for the right enemies and learning to dodge effectively etc.Putting the fighting to one side, the puzzles in the game are also a lot of fun and kept me engaged. The variety of levels you travel through and a good mixture of missions prevents the game from becoming repetitive. One thing I did notice as you venture around is sometimes the camera angle can seem like it's at a bit of a strange angle or not where I want it to be but I think it's because I'm used to being able to control the camera angle more on other games I play such as shooting games. However, I did get used to this and forgot about it after a while anyway.Overall, I would strongly recommend this game as it offers something a bit different to most games. The story is brilliant, the gameplay is enormously fun and the bosses are just insane. In fact, it is probably the most insane game I have ever played full stop. To sum things up, it is insanely good! BUY IT!

Funtastic god -slaying, 'button -mashing' action-adventure that has stood the test of time! This game was thrilling when it came out on the PS3 and still is . The magic and weaponry is entertaining and electrifying to use and in no way boring . In addition to the Olympian gods, there is a vast bestiary of beasts to eviscerate through.God of War Remastered is by no means a lazy remaster . Yes additional content is good but I am not that much bothered by additional content or gameplay mechanics being changed in a remaster ....Just that the game looks even more stunning than it already did on the PS3 and God of War Remastered distinctly passes that test. Not does it just look wonderful but it plays smoothly at the new frame-rate which is important also. Some of the puzzles are not tedious but actually fun and gratifying to solve. It is obvious God of War has haters . I am not being biased in my review of it but honest .... And just glad that I am able to play it on my PS4 at better quality. If I have any negative feedback....It is where Sony Santa Monica have gone cheap by not giving the trophies any graphic artwork .That sucks. The nagging issue of repetitive trophy art presentation aside ......Still a brutal adrenalizing classic.

Originally released on the ps3 and even then it was graphically a spectacular game, no other game came close to it and to me it looks even more better on the ps4. Is it a true remaster? I don't know, does it play any better? Tbh you would need the two versions side by side to notice the difference. To me it was blast of a game then and its still a blast now. I haven't even mentioned the cast or the story but if for some reason you are familiar with it then you'll know. It would've been nice to get the first two games remastered too and then get a collection or something but one can only dream I guess. Is it a worthy purchase? I'm not sure, that depends on how much you like God of War and wether it's your cup of tea,I mean if you haven't played it then yeah! Stop reading and buy it if you have then it just depends on if you want to have another do. For me, I love this franchise and i love the gameplay, the story, the characters and and the way they have designed it, it's a real treat to the eyes and soundtrack is so epic too.

I'll be honest, the first few plays of this left me cold - but after a short while it really started to show its quality. Having completed it I can say it is a truly epic game, thoroughly well designed all the way through. Its like a blood soaked version of tomb raider, mixing an element of exploration with lots of battles with increasingly massive enemies and brutal weapons. The controls are slick and the puzzles are pretty simple, which combine to make it an easy game to proceed through - in a good way though. And no review of this game should be complete without mentioning the soundtrack, which is one of the best I've heard in a game, really adding to the atmosphere.Definitely one for your PS4 collection.

This game concludes one of the best series I’ve ever played.Kratos is an incredible character, mostly because of his sheer determination and brutal effectiveness. This instalment involves different play styles, weapons and magic and can be played in various ways. The executions and fight scenes are so brutal. The story is brilliant fun and sees Kratos finish the gods off once and for all. When I saw that a new god of war was in the works and this time involving Norse gods, I couldn’t be more excited. A must have!

Having seen the trailers for the new God Of War (2018) game I became intrested in the series and its lore so I wmet and got the only game available for PS4 God Of War 3. Ever since picking it up and playing it I haven't regretted it it's been a blast and even though the mechanics are completely different from the new game it is still a good starting point for anyone who wants to get familiar with the series and the lore that's reffered to in the new game.

The same great game as it was 5 years ago. Only better. The improved textures and added lighting effects are a nice addition. But it's the inclusion of an -exceptionally steady- 60fps that really benifits this remaster. If you enjoyed GoWIII the first time around then you'll certainly enjoy it all over again with this remaster. And if you've never had the chance to play it, now is the perfect time.

A great game that i did not get to play in the PS3's hay days. God of war III reminds me of the terrifying nature of history, and whilst i understand this game is fiction, the depiction of Greek mythology shows heavy influence from stories of the time. God of war III remastered plays excellently on the PS4 at a solid 60fps, and seems to be a great game to pick up at the £10 price point. 5*s

27.8.2017

I've played this game on PS3 before and really liked it, the fact that they made a remake on ps4 with better graphics made the game feel somewhat different. It's actually still the same brilliant game but with improved graphics and added functionality. I'd recommend this for people that have either never played God Of War games before, or people that have played on Ps3.

Amazing game theres that addictive quality about it that leaves u coming back for more . Although im playing this game on psnow its still as good as remastered version imo because its still in hd . This game is a must buy on all counts. Xbox owners should get a ps just for this

12.3.2017

Loved this game on the ps3. Had to have this again. It looks awesome with the upgraded graphics. This is a perfect game when you've had a bad day and just wanna rip someone's guts out or beat their face to a pulp. Both of which can happen in this game ?

17.7.2015

If you loved this first time round then it's worth a pop. My only complaint is the exclusion of the back story. Some first timers may be confused. I suggest reading up on the events from the previous games, or better still play them( they are on PS now)

22.8.2017

Having never played any of the other games I am missing a lot of backstory but nonetheless this is a good game. It does still have that ropey feel like other games from this original release period do but it is a good remaster regardless

7.2.2016

One of my all time favourite games remastered for the ps4. This end to the God of war trilogy is a masterpiece with stunning visuals, smooth and crisp gameplay to boot, this game will be a great addition to your ps4. Just buy it.
