First off I'm reviewing this as someone who likes and is familiar with Strategy games. If you are not such a person knock two stars off the fun score and one off the overall, unless you have a patience to overcome a bit of a learning curve. This is not a game that makes a good first impression at all. The controls can be described as "fiddly" and until you become familiar with what the emeny units look like, it can be difficult to tell them appart at a glance.LOS is a mess. You can hide behind slat fences and the germans will be none the wiser. Trying to play the game realistically is somewhat frustrating. However, if you play the game by it's own rules,it becomes supprisingly engaging. While the initial mission with just basic troops is very bland, things really pick up as you get access to the new units and upgrades. The strategic layer has a big impact on what happens on the field and vice versa. For example certain skills allow you to fire more shots per turn, while another will give you more prestige (which is the currency of the game for purchase and upkeep of units). While having offence/defence upgrades can make troops stronger, a head start on prestige will allow you to buy elite units faster. It's very involved for such a simple concept.Perfomance in battle also impacts how much prestige you aquire, which could probably lead to some strategic layer failures. Luckily, you can reload any of the earlier missions without having to start over completely.Once you have a Sherman and a couple of Tank Destroyers rolling alongside the infantry, calling up air strikes and supply drops. Upgrading your basic troops for Snipers and Army Rangers and recruiting some outside help, like the British Paratrooper it all becomes very involved indeed. Certain units excel against others, while being weak to something else. Combined arms is a requirement as Snipers take out Panzerfaust and Assault Troops clear the way with large radius high explosive grenades.Just to keep things fresh, there are a variety of mission types ranging from kill everything (or specific units) to defend a certain troop, or get a unit to a point on the map. Some missions also require stealth which completely changes how the game plays out since you won't get a good score simply by killing everything. While the units could do with a bit more identity there is a still a certain ammount of attachment. Units gain XP RPG style so losing a strong unit will be felt. With no areas to "level up" keeping your men alive becomes key to continuing good ratings. As long as you are willing to overlook some odd things it's a worthwhile investment for strategy fans. While the learning curve and odd controls make it less accesible for beginners. It's nothing that can't be overcome with some practice.

I'd been waiting for a game like this to come to Vita, this is right up my street. To be honest my review is similar to some of those for the big consoles. You either like this type of game or not, it's turn based war, set on the charge to Berlin. You pick individual soldiers or units for each mission, then you move them in short bounds and fire, The distance covered and range of the weapons depend on the unit. As you complete missions you earn prestige points, which can be used to heal units or buy bigger and better troops, vehicles or support units like artillery or planes. Your troops earn medals and gain experience as the missions go by and as result they become better. You can even bring in Allied soldiers etc, the "UK paras" are tough as.The missions are varied, some involve stealth, some sabotage, some you have to protect individuals and some you just have to stay alive! You can play the missions on different levels of difficulty and replay them as you see fit. You learn to vary the troops you take with you to suit the mission and you soon get favourites. A balanced approach works well, some troops like paras are good as shock troops, but you can have snipers, bazooka troops, first aiders etc. Some units are virtually ineffectual on some missions. Skill points mean you can change the fighting characteristics of your units. You can make them better at attacking, defending or improve logistics/supplies so your units can fight for longer. Some reviewers say the game is unrealistic, they may have a point, but it is fun as a result. I'd knock half a star for the game controls. They are not fully explained, fiddly and take some getting used to. I spent most of the first mission wondering how to fire back at the angry German lads. I'm glad i persevered though, the game is really good.

Firstly I would like to say this is a very good game. Basically in this game, you control a variety of American and Allied units against German units. This includes a range of tanks, armored cars, infantry units, artillery and aircraft. The game used turn based strategy similar to End War. You move your units, and make any attacks you wish then the AI makes its move.Length Of Game: This is quite a long game and took me about a week to play (1-2 hours a day). There are 21 missions each taking at least half an hour to play. Plus you will loose on some on some missions the first time you try making it take longer.Graphics: This game had good graphics. The detail of both the battlefield and the units was very good.Difficulty: This game was hard enough that it wasn't "too easy" however easy enough that it wasn't stressful. My only criticism was what I thought was a little bit of a disappointing ending. You play the whole game fighting your way towards Germany but then when you finally get near that is the end of the game. I would of liked to control my units in the final battles to take the city. However thats a minor thing, and overall this is a really good game. If you like war games or strategy then this really is for you. Worth a try, I think.Overall 4/5 stars for me.

I really love strategy games, but as the Vita goes there aren't that many. I stumbled across this game on Amazon and purchased it. Amazing game. Very intense gaming experience. A lot of planning and trial and error is required to figure the game mechanics out, but loads of fun. It's a big game as well with plenty of re playability. Having a different mix of soldier types for different missions. You are graded on your performance as well. Your soldiers actually gain experience as well, and the game keeps a record of how they have performed across the missions. The sound and graphics are surprisingly good. The price is a bit too high for me, but still; five stars.....

This game looks awkward at the start. i would recommend looking at the basic skills before you start. The mixture of campaigns is great, from gi joe anything goes to stealth and defense,e.g. protecting engineers en route. The isignia of the troops of the enemy could be easier, but you will pick it up along the way.As you get further into the game, it get's really good, and the history sequence along the way is good too.Overall I would say it is very worthwhile giving it a go, it does get addictive. Not a bad price now to own it.

Must import if you want a retail copy. I am in the states and so I did. 4 stars only because this is the same psp edition and though the graphics are improved the touch screen usage would have been nice. must move units with thumb sticks. Also a better tutorial to get started would have been a great welcome also. It was difficult to get into, but once in, it is awesome. Can't beat a RTS on the go.
