Firstly, I'm a big fan of the UFC so playing this fills with a bit of joy knowing that I don't have to wait ages until each event comes alogn as it is really just like having it on all the time!My review is based on evening of playing it for 3 hours so may come back and revisit this review if my views change--- Graphics ---They're just awesome. You get totally immersed in each fight and the cut scenes for the entrances haven't become tedious yet because it just adds to the experience. I can imagine months down the line, my opinion on this may change but for the time being, they're really not a hinderence but are quite enjoyable. The gameplay graphics are just as good and are not compromised. You can tell EA put a lot of time and effort into this. brusiing appears cuts, blood.. the whole lot. It really does feel like a first class experience watching the game as you play it.--- Stand Up Game ---In comparison to the other reviews on here, I have struggled more with the striking aspect of the fights. I just can't seem to time my punches as well as some of my opponents who have obviously been playing it longer than myself. Whilst the fighter footwork sometimes can feel quite heavy / lethargic, if you're holding a directional button, this can be quickly fixed by just double flicking the direction you want them to move in which adds a bit of pace to the movement (albeit at the expense of some energy)! The punches and kicks feel awesome when you land them and the massive amounts of different types of punches and kicks you can through based on which button you press accompanied by a flick of a direction with the analogue stick is awesome because it really does keep fights interesting and doesn't fall into the bracket of 'every fight looking the same'--- Ground Game ---This is the area I've found a little bit easier to master right off the bat. It is pretty self explanitory really when you have the onscreen instructions (which by the way don't take away from the immersion). If you're in a position on the ground where you can try to lock in a submission move, you hold the L2 button and that will reveal whether or not a submisison is possible and also which ones are available from the position.Otherwise, transitional options come up on screen for you to move and hold the right analogue stick in that direction to perform the transition to gain a beneficial position on your opponent, Oppononents can counter these trasitions but I find this completely acceptable as this is true to real life... you opponent wouldn't naturally let you simply move through the motions to impose yourself on themThe take downs and transitions also depend on how susceptible you vulnerable your opponent is to them at that time which is displayed at the top of your screen in a red / blue bar.To submit someone, an onscreen display and if you are the aggressor, your opponent will try to get out of the moves by pointing their analogue sticks in various directions and you need to counter that by moving your stick in the same direction before the bar escapes the square. (much simpler than what it sounds like from my typing)--- Stamina Bar ---I really don't understand what peoples issue with this is? Surely you understand that in any sport at all, you can't go balls out all the way through and not expect to get knackered? When your bar depletes, your punches are weaker and slower (obviously) your takedown attempts are more lethargic (obviously) and you are more susceptible to taking a big old punch / kick on the melon with more devastating affect. This is just how it is and adds to the realism. All you need to do is bide your time a little and let your fighter regain some composure which is the tactical element to the game. Yes it can be frustrating if you're laying the smackdown on someone, got them on their last legs and your fighter decides to start blowing out of their backside, but that's just how it is, it's a fight, it's tiring... manage your fight better! The game is a big learning curve for someone like myself whom has never played an MMA game before and whilst the first 2-3 fights were frustrating like mad, that is no different to me playing FIFA and getting spanked on it because someone is better / more experienced than myself. With practise, you will OBVIOUSLY get better. The game is not 'broken' as some reviews will have you believe, I think the issue with these players is that they would expect to just be able to pick the game up and play without any practise which is not the case.I'm enjoying it at the moment, and whilst it is difficult on occasions to beat a more skilled apponent, I will defo be picking it up many more times to keep improving and enjoying it as I get better.Good game for the UFC fan aand someone who is willing to actually give it a chance

So here we go again! my 5th UFC game, I brought it a mouth back and think it's now time for a fair review.First off the bat; I only really play the ufc games for their online competitiveness, after a hard days work I love nothing more then to compete with people from all around the world beating their sorry a** to sleepy town and then receive that special feeling in my heart that I'm a top player and probably could have gone on to have been a real life UFC world champion if only I stopped drinking 3 nights a week and had the discipline to stay clear of Eastender. So I don't know too much about career mode, only that it seems to be the place to go if you like creating 1980's action heroes, getting brain washed by Dana White and getting smacked in the face by the UFC logo every 4 seconds. The Unfortunate,EA UFC 2 in my opinion has taken a step back this time. The realism has been replaced by a flying unicorn superman punch to the head. So what do I mean?.. Well in the previous title you had to manage stamina, you couldn't take too many deadly blows to the head, the stand up and the ground game ran fast and smoothly. Now your God, I mean.. you can take head kick, after head kick, stamina management isn't necessary anymore, it's a button mashers paradise but the worst thing is the pace of action, its become a much slower pace fighting game, for example when you hit the ground now the game turns into the sims 4 with a bubble like chat option for transitions, I'm surprised there isn't a marry me opinion sometimes next to the deadly guillotine choke. I understand the thought process behind it but in reality it just slows the action down.Top Tip,You might think, well if stamina management isn't necessary anymore and fighters can receive more kicks to the head then Frankie Edgar gets turned down for a title shot how do I win a fight? I've learnt after many hours fighting online that the algorithm in this game rewards combinations more then anything, one two to the body followed by a round house and they hit the deck everytime.Leaving on a high note.At the end of the day it's still a decent UFC game, I admit it's a bit of a bitter sweet experience due to the cons listed above but I have had and will continue to have lots of fun with this game. The graphics have been improved, the knockdowns give that feeling of real impact, leg kicks mean something now, combinations flow better then ever and you can even wrestle again due to changes made to the blocking system. Also if your new to the franchise it might be the best time to pick up a copy as this is the easiest ufc game I've played and great for the casual player as it's very forgiving if you get caught.my real score would be 3.5 stars. Peace.

I was a huge fan of the first EA UFC game and have owned previous titles such as UFC Undisputed 2009, 2010 as well as EA MMA. As quite an avid fan of UFC I was hugely excited to hear the news when UFC 2 was getting released. I pre-orded it as I do with many of my much anticipated games but never considered writing a review until I started reading others.I've seen a lot of people comment on how the ground game is 'broken' and is a major downside of what I consider a very fun and exciting game. The ground and clinch game is vastly different from EA UFC as it is no longer a turn based simulation, instead both fighters are able to instigate movement in order to advance positions at the same time.I struggled massively coming up against Freestyle Wrestlers and Jiu Jitsu artists online and found myself getting frustrated at times when I was getting submitted or TKO'd easily every time I got taken down. Instead of disregarding the game as being 'broken', I decided to spend the time learning and practicing ground transitions. I found that after only an hour of YouTube video searches and practicing in game, I was able to not only comfortably defend myself and escape dangerous positions on the ground, but land high levels of offence, to the point when most of my wins were coming from the ground and pound. The ground game is hugely dependant on stamina. As soon as you get taken down and start spamming transitions to try and escape, if your opponent has the knowledge of how to block transitions, then you won't have a chance of getting to your feet. Instead if you learned the proper controls and weren't impatient in your escape, then defending yourself off your back is incredibly easy. My opinion on the ground game is not that it is 'broken', but that the majority of people who are complaining are those who don't have the patience or knowledge to work their way out. I prefer the slower ground game as it gives the game a more realistic feeling rather than throwing spinning kick after spinning kick after spinning kick.I personally believe that the gameplay this year is very good and is much of an improvement on EA UFC which was very stale in my opinion. Career mode is still quite light in terms of content but the added features of ultimate team and knockout mode really gives the players some fresh material for them to sink their teeth into.

Firstly, this review is based of playing with mates and also CPU A.I... not played online yet. What I noticed when playing with my mates was that the game seemed very smooth and the game mechanism showed it's Fluidity with every transition... In other words.. it was a blast, so much fun. When it came to playing the CPU A.I on hard difficulty.. *sigh* I was admittedly getting my a** handed to me every round. At first it was frustrating but then I realised what I was doing wrong. This game is NOT a pick up and play.. its actually about timing and strategy. When to take down, when to clinch, when to high block and low block. Literally, every move has to be thought. When mastered; blocking and parrying will become your best friend in the game. It's all about precision and making sure your hits, blocks and take downs count.Submissions are very rewarding this year as not only are there many ways to counter and reverse but you can literally make nothing out of something. CPU are as always cheesy with the counters but once you learn your opponents moves and patterns you will know how to master it.Pros.Fun factor (with mates)GraphicsMusicKnock out modeHuge roosterAnimationsAddictiveSubmissionsConsPrice. £30 -£35 would seem fair enough.CPU (hard difficulty) at times comes with the cheeseCommentary feels repetitive at timesGround game is underwhelming.Muay thai clinch is OPAll in all yes.. UFC 2 is a great.. so far so good.

The knockout mechanics have been greatly improved from the previous EA Sports UFC game, and the inclusion of the new knockout mode makes for some really exhilarating fights. I have read reviews that say that this game doesn't capture the feel of UFC fights and I cannot disagree with this more; the weight of each punch, kick, knee, and elbow thrown can be visually seen and felt on each fighter, and the grappling and submission aspects of the game mean that there are multiple ways each fight can end, with the stand-up, grappling, and submission abilities of each fighter being a deciding factor on the way the fight will pan out.EA Sports have also created an Ultimate Team mode for this game, where you create your own fighters (up to 5, I believe) and can fight in online or single player fights that give you coins to spend on card packs, with each card giving your fighters different fighting attributes or moves. This, I feel, is very engrossing and adds another level to the typical fighter creation system within many fighting games. If you're a UFC fan, I'd say this is a must-buy game and you won't be disappointed.

Great game. Very realistic and fun to play. Of course some of the fighters could be updated but that's why they released the new one. I like the feeling in a online match because it can get really competitive especially in ranked matches trying to get the championship title. There's also ultimate team on this which is good too.The price of the game is easily worth it. I paid £12.58 with delivery back in march 2018. I did also have the game when it actually first launched but sold it.I really like the way striking is done. I see why many people prefer this to the newer one.If your a UFC fan you would enjoy this.If your after a fighting game this may be the right choice for you.Matches can lastfrom just seconds to lengths like 10-15 minutes so no two fights are really ever the same. Also I find many other players online to have different fighting styles to me and really enjoy the challenge. The reason I gave 4 stars is because it's not for everyone and I did find it a bit tricky to play at first.

If you liked the first ea UFC game then you will love this one. I have only played it for a couple of hours but already think it's a lot better than the first one. Graphics are spot on. Stand up and ground are great. Pre ordered from Amazon and got the code for bas rutten and co sent to me via e mail. Already there has been an update from ea with 3 new fighters (if I remember right there was around 18 new fighters and lots of updates free of charge over the space of a few months with the old game so fingers crossed they do the same this time). If you are a fan of mma and are thinking about getting this my advice is to buy asap. It will be hard to top this in the years to come.Don't let the Neg reviews put u off.

Had the game since release and i have enjoyed it quite a lot but it still needs some patches to make it perfect. Roster is excellent and if you are thinking of DLC characters get mike Tyson, he is lethal. Unfortunately there is a bug in career mode which means that as soon as you change weight class, that character becomes unplayable which is a ball ache especially if you are 20+ fights in. the ground game is much more simple than in the previous game and although its still tricky i got to grips with it fairly quickly. Knockout mode is a nice extra and ultimate team is great. Graphics are outstanding and knock outs feel genuine.

the game overall feels a little slow but there have been big improvements the ko physics are massively improved blood and cuts are more realistic also the clinch/ground has changed it is a bit tricky to transition and get submissions but once you get some practice you'll pick it up easy also i love ko mode straight forward fun i haven't tried the ultimate team mode but it should work well overall i think ufc 2 is such a massive improvement it's got something for the casual fan all the way through to the hardcore fan i would definitely recommend this

I owned the first game and loved it , this game is a huge step up , alot of people are knocking the round game but compared to the first ea have tried to make it more fair as in the first u could just sit on someone and smash their face in , this one is more fair and a slot easier to use once u get to grips with it , the fight physics ate much the same with less bugs and like real mma any fight can swing in the throw of one punch , def a good game to buy but to master takes practice 4 stars from me

EA don't usually release two good games in a row (of the same series) but, they have well and truly exceeded my expectations here. The first was brilliant, the latest game is better. One of the the big issues I had with the first game was the difficulty in trying to submit an opponent. EA have simplified this beautifully and it is now much easier to perform submissions. I'm over the moon with this game and would recommend it to everyone.

This game moulded me into an animal. It taught me to be strong and never give up, to work hard , but most importantly how to overcome adversity. When it was finally time to clean my room , i refused,my mum screaming her head off .So when she burst in i looked her dead in the eye and roundhoused her arse, put my belt on my shoulder and held hands with bruce buffer for the official decision..."AND STILL!!!...."

17.3.2016

Great improvement from the previous ufc games, I guess EA have finally listened to the feedback. The graphics are amazing and EA have paid great attention to the details of the game. Knockout mode is really fun to play, no grappling just punches and kicks untill one of the fighters are knocked out to the ground. Have not played it for long but so far I really enjoy the game.

20.7.2016

Im going be 100% honest here at first you regret buying this game but as soon as your kicking asses you will love it and then u will statt hating the game when fighting online players as there is a glitch where they just throw a jab and body kick spam and you just lost. Lots of exploits in online where everyone just spams them other than that the game it brilliant

17.3.2016

Great all round game, a lot better than the first one, knockouts huge improvement and stand up great, submission and ground is hard but easy to get used to, online great fun to. Only problem is the lack in modes there is only a few could do with a couple more but not complaining. Great Job EA ?
