After buying the Ugear Safe, and loving it, I decided to get the timer. As with the safe, the packaging was so precise. When opened, there was hardly a millimeter of unused space. This product had a lot of delicate parts that had to be placed incredibly precisely, so it took quite a long time and a lot of concentration. Be aware that some of the smaller parts were quite difficult to "pop" out and could sometimes get slightly damaged. They took care of this by providing spare parts for the smaller items, but it was always useful to have a bit of sandpaper and woodglue available.I'll admit, that although mine is now fully assembled and sitting on my main shelf, it still doesn't work 100% correctly.

I've bought this as a gift, so haven't actually put it together but I thought is worth adding a bit of information. As the box and the bits inside are in shrink wrap this will save others from having to damage the wrapping to find out the same information.As I was buying it for an elderly man I was concerned that the instruction text might be too small or badly written. No such problems, the instructions have an intro in text but all the bits about putting it together are very well done diagrams. They clearly show which template the bits come out of and then show pictures of the bits and how they go together. Each bit is numbered on the diagram.When I got it I was concerned that the laser burnt lines were just lines as they looked too fine to be cuts.

It's a very well made construction piece but it does have it's problems. All the parts are laser cut to good accuracy, some however are so tiny you need mini fingers or some kind of soft ended tool to push them out of the tight fitting surround, I ended up using a pen. The bigger parts come out very easily with hardly any burring or splinters. The instructions are good for putting the whole thing together but slightly confusing (bad translation) for actually setting the regulator once it's all complete. I feel they could have used something better than cocktail sticks as spindles as quite often when trying to put pieces together the points would break or the stick would simply snap altogether,

I received this as a christmas gift and enjoyed putting it together, however as others have noted, the toothpicks supplied are not sufficient to do the job requested of them, they are too weak and barely long enough which is a real shame as the rest of the components are of excellent quality and the kit is a joy to construct. The instructions seem to bit a little vague in some areas and particularly when it comes to attaching the elastic band which powers the device. it would be so easy for this product to be wonderful but because of this monor issue, it doesnt work properly and continually breaks.

This is beautifully designed. The pieces come out clean, the instructions are clear and with a little wax on the cogs worked first time. The alignment tool is critical in this one since a slight alignment error will stop the rhythm. And keeping the cogs straight at 90 degrees of the spindle. A bit of fiddling with the elastic band to get the time right and its set. Everyone comments on it. Its quite elegant in the way it works and it demonstrates how old clockwork watches work.

A very well received present. The parts fit together well and the mechanism works well (though apparently the rubber bands need a little tweaking to get the timing just right and a little candle wax helps the mechanism work smoothly :) For a first time builder of these it was completed very quickly and smoothly and even revitalised an interest in an older creative project so definitely a good choice for people who like to be creative with their hands :)

Bought this as a gift for a mates birthday despite really wanting one myself! Fairly easy to assemble, I managed it in just under an hour. Sleek packaging design and the product looks absolutely incredible once assembled!I actually expected the product to be fairly fiddly and delicate but it actually turned out to be sturdier than I first expected. Cant wait to get one for myself, an interesting addition to any room and certainly a talking point!

Absolutely spot on! Beautiful quality and cut to precision. A joy to build and worked perfectly first time - an initial concern given my previous modelling attempts. This was my first UGears model. I have ordered another model for my partner - who was similarly impressed. Complexity with simplicity; complimented by beauty. Genius! Highly recommended.

Bought it for my Dad as he likes making things and he was very impressed with the quality and precise cutting of the wooden parts. It works just like it said it would although not quite accurate at keeping time but not far out. An impressive piece of work and we will definitely consider purchasing another model from Ugears.

Recieved as a Christmas present.Build time around 3 hours faffing sanding down parts. Could do with more cocktail sticks and a spare nylon cord.Part 44 partially snapped on me and so did the frame corner marked '15'Overall enjoyable build swearing at cocktail sticks and stabbing myself.

Arrived beautifully packed, in a well-designed box, attractively presented. The handbook is very clear, and well thought out, although the use of English could be better. Not yet built, but I'm already hoping for a proper clock!

I bought this as a present and it arrived five days earlier than expected! I know the person who got it really liked it. The only thing is that it gets some time to adjust it right so it marks the seconds properly.

Although my son had fun putting this together he can't work out where he's gone wrong as the timer moves anti clockwise! It's difficult to take apart without breaking bits!
