I have just received this kit and opened it up to check the quality as I have heard some good things about it over the last few weeks. I am glad to say that all my expectations are been fulfilled with this new offering from Revell in 1:32 scale.I love good cockpit detail on Spitfires and this one is equal with the Eduard and Tamiya Spitfires, in fact the first 18 constructional call outs are for cockpit construction alone. There is dash with two piece instrument decal, proper floor, gun sight, compass, foot pedals with connecting pipe work, control stick, there are 8 steps and 15 parts that comprise the seat and rear frame. The cockpit walls are separate parts and attached to those are all the controls and bits and bobs that are found in place there. There are separate inner walls for the wheel wells, separate rudder, flaps, wing tips, the radiator housing can be made open or closed, and the radiator surfaces are two piece making for easy painting or replacement with PE parts. Landing gear is composed of 6 parts, two parts for the cover, two halves for the tires, one piston rod and one folding section attached to the inner wheel well. The canopy can be displayed open or closed, and oddly something I have never seen before is the forward canopy window being two piece, the canopy glass is fitted and the armoured section then fits onto it. Even the oil cooler comes in four parts! Surface detail is just excellent, fine panel lines, rivet detail, fine rippled effect on the ailerons, a five piece propeller construction features three blade, spinner and back plate, even right down to the rear view mirror on the top of the canopy. The decal sheet is comprehensive and looks to be very good quality and since the bottom of the sheet reads "Printed in Italy" this would lead me to believe they are printed by the excellent Cartograph company, there are two marking options also. The box is the usual blue end opening thin card that really should be done away with in favour of the top opening fold back type. Box art is very nice and sells the kit well, maybe not up to the standards of the excellent Airfix art but very nice indeed. There are four small photographs that give some nice images of the kit built up and show what it's potential is if built properly. The instruction sheet seems a little close together and crowded, similar to the Lancaster 1:72 sheet that I recently saw.On the whole, Revell have really done a grand job here, this level of quality for a price that varies between £17.99 and £21, it is a great bargain in 1:32 when compared to the Tamiya and Trumpeter price levels that will set you back three times the RRP price of this one. The nearest quality in a kit for the same money you can buy would be the Eduard Weekend kits that are a shade smaller in 1:48, so for 1:32 you can't go wrong.

Coming from a model railway background where most wagon kits have perhaps fifty or so parts, this kit boasts more than 180. The detail is far better than the kits I remember from fifty years ago and the fit of parts is, generally, very good. One slight niggle is that some of the holes are slightly undersize for the locating peg intended for them whereas some seem to be slightly oversize. However, this is easily sorted out with a drill of the right size and does not detract from the accuracy with which the parts go together. The instructions are, as usual nowadays, diagrammatic and each step is clearly shown including part numbers and paint colours. Part numbers are also shown in diagrams of the frets and colours listed using,of course, Revell numbers. The instructions are in both English and German! presumably because German enthusiasts will buy this kit to go with their 109. I would have given this kit five stars but I was disappointed to find that there is not a pilot included. No doubt there is some company able to supply this sadly missing item. It took about twelve hours in total to complete spread over some two weeks to allow adhesive and paint to dry and eyesight to recover from fitting many parts smaller than a gnats crotchet.

As you will find out after a few moments of internet research, this Revell kit is inaccurate (metal skinned ailerons instead of fabric covered, no engine to build blah, blah, blah). Absolutely, If accuracy and super fine detailing is for you, then don’t buy this model. Go for one of the more expensive and far more accurate kits from the likes of Tamiya.Right, that out of the way, what you have here is a super easy to build uncomplicated model which is instantly recognisable as a Spit. I bought it for my 89 year old Dad, who had very little to keep himself occupied during lockdown and has badly arthritic hands. He’s absolutely loving making this model and is making a pretty decent job of it too. He’s even invested in a cheap airbrush & compressor combo to complete the paint jobFor someone like him with little or no experience, or for a youngster just getting into building models this type of easy build is perfect and the end result will please most of the non-purists.Every product I review is one I have purchased myself.I rely on unbiased reviews when making shopping choices so that’s exactly what you’ll get from me. Have just returned to model making after a gap of 30yrs or so and must say I am blown away by the quality and variety of the models on offer. They have certainly moved on from the old Airfix kits bought for a couple of bob from Woolworths. This model is no exception and the detail and accuracy of fit is outstanding as is the size (or lack of it) of some of the pieces! The only problem is that model making is a bit like fly fishing. When you at last have the time and the money to do it your eyesight and delicacy of fingers have declined in the opposite direction. I have found that the purchase of a good quality magnifying glass and several pairs of tweezers is money well spent! That said I have thoroughly enjoyed building this model and though I have made a few mistakes I am proud of the finished product. My wife on the other hand thinks I am mad! Oh well!!

I bought this as a gift but close examination before I handed it over showed a detailed range of parts showing rivets, panels etc. all finely moulded. It's bigger than most models, hence has more parts that require greater skill and patience. The downside is that the box does not include adhesive, nor could I see a specification list for paint colours. The paint schemes for Spitfires varied according to their role (some had marine service and were painted blue and grey) so a list would have helped. There's a pattern template for the camouflage though, so if you know what you need it should be an easy painting job.All in all, a good kit and a decent size when finished which will look impressive.Delivery by the supplier was good too, well packaged and quick. Highly recommended.

Good kit. Not super detailed but enough so you can make a very nice model depending on your skill. If this kit has a downside I would say it was that some parts were hard to cut cleanly from the plastic tree. Just be careful and make sure you have a file or some sand paper to smooth out the rough ends from the tree.Decals were nice and went on without a problem. The instructions actually had some good tips for putting the model together.I would of liked more detail, but with model kits you get what you pay for so this one had no moving parts like gear or flaps and you get no engine detail. But, still nice to look ta once it is painted up and finished. All in all, a solid 4 out of five.

It is a really good kit.Mine (photographed) was commission built, painted and lightly distressed by a very talented and knowledgable modeller who specialises in warplanes called Simon. On this model was used a correction set that replaced the wheels, propeller and radiator/oil cooler. These areas are the worst of the obvious inaccuracies and the model looks a lot better for being modified in this manner.Other than that there's not too much else to say.

Revell already have a 1/32 Spitfire Mk II, an old model from 60´s wich still on the market. It had even movable landing gear, some feature from Revell for their 1/32 scale planes and some bombers in 1/72. It is very detailed besides his age. Revell just released a new model in 2015 but in the same scale. No movable landing gear any more but with engraved painel lines and good level of details. Excellent value for money.

The low price of this 1/32 kit belies its quality. A new-tool Spitfire II by Revell modelled on the BofB flight Spitfire, which means a few details are of a modern, not a wartime aircraft. One of two shape issues, largely associated with it being a modern pattern, that are well catered for by the aftermarket boys. Out-of-the-box it is pretty satisfying and a worthy introduction to the hobby. Best bought by the gross!

Well, What a superb kit this is. For the money, this is probably one of the finest Spitfire kits out there. Bags of detail, all crisply moulded and shaming many, more expensive manufacturers. The packaging is Revell's usual single bags fit all, though the clear parts were seperate. Good decals and, for the money outstanding value for money. Buy this kit if you want a thoroughly modern, new-tool Spitfire Mk.II.

This excellent kit can be had for a bargain price. Not the perfection (or the engine) of the legendary Tamika kit, but at approximately 1/5th of the price this turns into a very good detailed model. No real fit issues, very good decals. I would say this was an ideal model for 12 years plus - has a real presence but not a financial disaster if it’s messed up.

Price + Size = Great Value - I made this right out the box, in fact, I made three of them. The quality is really good and you can take this as far as you like or just do as it asks you.Another benefit with this kit is again you do not need a vast selection of paints. At a push, you can five, so it's not going to kill the bank.

This model Spitfire has excellent detailing, on the wings, fuselage and especially the cockpit. It was straightforward to build, the instructions are clear and easy to follow. I used the Revell weathering powders, which I also bought via Amazon and was pleased with the result. A very nice model, thoroughly recommended.

It was bought by myself to pass the time in lockdown and it certainly kept me busy,l could have finished it much quicker but l took it slowly. Some of the parts are so tiny that l recommend using tweezers unless you have very nimble fingers, nevertheless my model is finished and l am very pleased with it.

It’s a good-looking plane but I should have read the detail more closely as I wrongly assumed it would also include glue and the relevant paints, which it doesn’t sadly.Shame really, I think I’d have happily paid a bit more just to know I’d be gifting a complete kit.
