***** Love it.I recently finish my second model from Ugears – and I am very excited about it. Very impressive and good looking motorcycle. Made of plywood, all parts are laser cut and assembled without glue using toothpicks and joints. Parts are simply squeezed out, but it is better to cut the gaps on which they keep from falling out of the board, with a knife or scalpel. For beginner model may seem difficult I think, but the result is impressive. This bike looks very cool, and rides itself from the wound rubber bands. I recommend to pay special attention to the assembly of the gas tank, it is quite difficult to assemble, also the front ‘suspension’, it fits tight to the frame. And most important, the small details of the gears under a black rubber band were another challenge, at least for me :) In general, an interesting and beautiful model, and most importantly not static, but mechanically working, even improvised pistons are moving in cylinders.Highly recommend, the product is worth all its money.

It's frustrating and fiddly at times, so be prepared to have your nerves rattled a little! The components are accurately cut and well fitting - sometimes a little too well fitting, but nothing that a quick waft with the included sandpaper couldn't fix.The instructions are pretty good too, although one or two of the illustrations had me scratching my head for a couple of minutes until I figured it out.If you're patient and study the illustrations before assembling anything, the end result looks great!I wouldn't say that this is a model to have racing around your kitchen, but the mechanics side is very cool indeed.All-in-all this is a great model. I thoroughly enjoyed making it and lost quite a few hours engrossed in my endeavours. In fact I was so impressed with the quality, ingenuity and downright fun of it, I've just ordered the roadster! If you buy it, you'll enjoy it .... good luck!

I have just this moment finished building my product, did I enjoy it? Yes. But I’d be lying if I told you I didn’t nearly throw it at the wall a couple of times. This was my first U gears model, I found the instruction in whole, easy to follow. Once assembled it looks amazing, all the intricate wooden pieces look well placed and have purpose. During the assembly, I found some pieces just did not fit and needed extra sanding down. I followed every instruction precisely yet for some reason the gears do not function as they should, the wheel is able to wind up but it does not release therefore, does not move on its own. Regardless, Iam happyWith the outcome of my first assembly and would purchase more.If your a beginner and reading this I recommend having1. A cutting board2. A scalpel3. Some crafting files4. Extra strength glue on standby5. Crafting pliers

So where do I start. This is a fantastic model set which will not only provide great satisfaction once completed but also great frustration whilst building ?. The model it self looks amazing but is really challenging at times. Now I have completed this one I have learnt my ways to make the build slightly easier for future models. The model is held together with toothpicks and interlocking each piece. The holes for the toothpicks are very tight and even with using the wax you feel that you could snap the toothpick if you push a little hard. Towards the end of the build I started sanding down the toothpicks slightly which helped.I have marked it down to a four start due to the frustration factor but it's great value for money and I highly recommend buying on.

This is a very well thought out and put together kit, but be very careful putting it together. The laser cuts are precise and I can't fault the model building and final build as a static piece. It's just that the elastic band engine power isn't going to set the world on fire, yes the torque force will help propel the model a little while it's also pushed by hand but that's all. I did wax and sand all the parts as instructed. I've docked it 1 star for that but all in all it's really a fantastic model and I'm happy with my purchase and if I could would only dock it a half star, I also got my Dad one, different model. He had similar issues too regarding the engine power (and he was a mechanic).4.5/5

Spent a good 5-6 hours or so building this over Boxing Day whilst the family chilled out watching tv. I was looking forward to it and made sure to have a A3 modelling mat, side clippers, file set and Stanley knife. Had a tea candle on standby for the wax. Model comes with a square of sand paper and small tube of wax which I was not expecting so bonus points there. Took time to build carefully and enjoyed every minute apart from the ones that involved manipulating an elastic band. A set of smaller fingers would be useful...This was my first model build from the UGears range and my first build since my younger years building Lego.Looking forward to next model which is the roadster.

I have completed cheaper kits in the past and been frustrated by poorly cut parts that don't fit together properly. None of that here. The parts are cut very accurately and fit together very precisely. Because of that I found making this kit very satisfying. The finished item makes a nice display piece. I did make it up with the elastic bands to operate as a wind up model but I am not convinced that it works too well or that the system will last beyond a few uses, more down to my assembly skills as to anything to do with the design or components.Worth the price compared to cheaper kits from other manufacturers.

Bought this for my elderly Dad for Christmas, he's a retired engineer. He proceeded to phone me every single day for two weeks to tell me how much he was enjoying assembling it, giving me minute details of what part he was busy with that day. He thought it was great quality and design and was chuffed to bits when he finally finished it. I'm happy as I don't have to worry about what to get him for future birthdays and Christmasses, there are loads of different models. The only slight issue is, if I get him a more involved one next time, the phone calls will be every day for a month!

Absolutely love this purchase!!! Laser precision cut wood with great step by step instructions.Make sure you follow the instructions exactly and you can't go wrong. There is a step when putting in the elastic bands where I only put 2 bands instead of 3 but checking the instructions clearly shows 3.Great family fun but children will need the support/supervision of an adult.Highly recommend as it is the cheapest in the range and is still an amazing interactive sculpture. I have bought more models since.Took just over one evening to complete.

This is the 3rd Ugears model I have built and, despite sanding and waxing, I have not got any of them to work. This does not matter a great deal to me as I just wanted something to do during lockdown and I did not want it as a toy. Although they are for 14 years and older I do not believe the average 14 year old could complete the models without assistance from someone with strong hands and fingers. They look really good on a shelf and I will try more models in the future. Who knows, maybe I'll get one to work some day.

Simple to follow picture instructions. Need very strong fingers to fit certain parts together and a good pair of adjustable pliers. Some smaller parts broke but there is several spare bits. Took me around four hours to build as you need to file parts to fit. The finished model is smaller than I thought around eight inches long. I didn’t want the model to move so didn’t lubricate parts. Would like to build more but £64 is quite expensive for the more complicated models. Quite enjoyable pastime.

A great project but small fingers are needed, and you only get one chance of assembling some parts, if you don't get it first time, the 'grip' is lost and it becomes ever more difficult. Patience and perseverance are needed. Instead of the sand paper supplied it was easier to use an emery board as it held it's shape. In the end I chose not to make it 'drive' and it is a lovely model on the mantel shelf.Learned a lot and maybe the next one will go better.

I have not unpacked this Ugears Bike DIY kit yet. I have already assembled six different Ugears model kits, 2 locomotives, research vessel, articulated truck, vintage GP car and a roadster. I must say I have enjoyed all of themvery much. I have now the two Ugears bike models to build now that I have put up some new shelving. All the models are first class and I recommend them, they’re great. I am hoping that Ugears will bring out some more vehicle kits.

Never done models before and found this really quite relaxing and rewarding. Some of the bits are really tight fitting but used a craft knife / scalpel to trim bits off to get them to fit. Biggest tip is not to rush it and if I did it again (just ordered next one) then I would put more time into waxing the bits that need to freely rotate as mine doesn't quite move on its own once wound up but I put that down to me not the design.

Got this bike for my dad at Chrismas who loves his motorbikes. He has now finished it and thoroughly enjoyed building it! The kit was well designed and instructions very clear. He did snap a few pieces here and there but nothing some glue didn't fix (he has big fingers lol).Highly recommended these models as a gift or just something to keep your mind busy in the winter months.
