It is true what a few people have mentioned about a few fit issues, but none of them were of any significant problem. If you are after an absolutely perfect recreation you may require a little filler, but I managed perfectly well without any. The small lunar lander that sits in the payload fairing (but is removable) is a little delicate. It is interesting to see from the markings from the mounds that much of this kit was cast in 1968, meaning it was actually designed before mankind had set foot on the moon, and most of it remains unchanged! A few parts have clearly been retooled, and there were no fit issues on these. The paint scheme is interesting, although not the one used on the Saturn V rockets that flew manned missions to the moon. The design featured in this kit was changed for the manned missions to reduce the amount of surface area painted black, as it was discovered that the black paint was overheating the fuel tanks whilst the rocket waited in the sun. If you want to recreate an manned Saturn V, you can find photographs online.I got this kit on a marketplace deal for less that £15 as it didn't have a box, which was a steal. The kit itself was absolutely fine. Highly recommended

Bought this for my 10 year nephew as a Christmas present and I ended up building it with him and his father as a Sunday afternoon get together. I think we were all fulfilling a need here, (we built it as children ourselves- only not too well!) A chance to get it RIGHT (mostly). And so perfectly timed to coincide with the 50th Anniversary of the Apollo Moon landing. Spent just as much money again on craft knives, masking tape, paint spray cans (painted the whole thing black, then masked off the areas to stay black and sprayed it all white. It worked a treat!) Not the easiest model to make for a child but it's a rites of passage for a boy. The finished model looks awesome and has pride of place in his bedroom.I'll still steal a glance at it myself when I'm round there. It's what model making should be. Bringing family together and achieving something you're proud of.

This kit has been produced since the 1970's and I think the molds are getting pretty worn. Parts fit reasonably well and the detail is pretty good. Some parts have very nice detail and others, not very realistic like the stage two engines..I bought this instead of the Lego because it is a lot less expensive and you get an idea of the machinery and construction of the real rocket. With the lego, you just have a lot of pricey plastic with little idea of how the real thing was put together or worked.I think the Airfix Saturn V is a better kit, I discovered that after I had ordered this one.All in all I am satisfied with the Revell.

I absolutely loved building this model. So much so I have just bought the space shuttle version as well. Some parts can be very very fiddly but if you have patience you will get there. I find the easiest way to do this model was to do most of the painting first. Look ahead a few steps to find out what needs painted there for when it comes to gluing it will have had time to dry. Some of the paints and the glue don't mix well. I took my time with this model made sure all the parts fitted before gluing and some parts needed filed as well. This model was worth every single penny and can't wait to build the space shuttle

The last time I tried building scale models, it was around 20 years ago, as a kid. After having a desire to get back into it, and spending some time researching tips as well as tricks, I thought I'd go for this. I wasn't disappointed. Although I'm in the middle of painting it at the time of writing. I'm very much as one could gather, a novice. The instructions being somewhat archaic, it's still easy to put together. One or two stages needed filler to hide seams. I used "Revell Contacta Liquid Glue with Professional Needle Applicator", and "Revell Plasto Body Putty Model Filler 25ml". It only seemed appropriate.

I bought this kit cheaper from the warehouse knowing its not a perfect replica of the real rocket but you'd have to be pedantic to want an EXACT replica of the real thing. The box was a bit busted up but the parts inside are fine so far as I can tell. There are resin aftermarket parts to upgrade your rocket model but the price doesn't justify the very slight difference they would make as the model is massive and it will look impressive anyway when built and painted correctly. Besides I'm not a fan of putting resin parts on plastic kits.

Although this is to mark the 50th anniversary of the moon landing I'm pretty sure it also commemorates the 50th anniversary of the kit as it seems Revell haven't bothered to develop anything! The fit of some parts (ref. picture) is very poor. Lots of pieces don't match together so, if you get this, be prepared to check everything before fitting and purchase some putty. However, even with all that in mind the finished product is quite impressive and a great project.... and very tall!

Great model with good quality components. It can be assembled as one or displayed in its separate stages, and the moving parts are well designed and sturdy. Paint and transfers are fairly simple on this model although you will need to research the correct scheme if you're a stickler for detail. The paint instructions most closely match the test rocket located at the Davidson Center, which is quite different to any of the launched rockets (the transfers are for the Apollo 11 launch).

Ordered this on Sunday evening the 19th of July and received it on the 22nd which was really impressive as Amazon tends to be slow coming to the Republic of Ireland. Started it this morning and I'm loving putting it together. Parts are excellent and its instructions are very clear. Can't wait to see it fully together. Haven't ran into too many issues yet thankfully. Painting is gonna be hard but I will take my time and hopefully get it right.

Lovely kit, everything fits together and can be disassembled to show the stages on the journey to the moon and return to earth. 3 tiny ground crew to show scale. Separate lunar module with flexible legs so can be set beside Rocket or placed in nose cone. The nose cone has 4 hinges which can be opened or closed. I built the Airfix kit in the 1970's. Loved this one. I'm going to research colours before painting.

As a child of the Sixties, all things to do with The Space Race, NASA, CCCP, Cosmonauts, Saturn V, Mercury etc. were essential learning. So I am delighted that I have finally got my hands on this Revell Classic Kit. I have no idea where I will display the finished model as it stands some 3' Tall. Plenty of detail and plenty of parts should keep me busy for several months before the Model is finished.

as with everything revell there were some major issues with parts not joining up ... but tbh that meant i got to spend even more time putting this together if you order this product please make sure to order some 2 part appoxy putty thats moldable a selection of wet/dry sandpaper and allow a good day or 2 for filling/sanding the picture is just the first and second stage ready to be primed

No problem with the kit itself; all seems great. However, I ordered all the paints I needed as described on the outside of the box, but when I opened the box, the instructions booklet stated a whole other list of paints, so I have ended up having to buy more. So the moral of the story....check the instructions inside the box to see which paints to order!!!

Very detailed model. Slightly different from the Airfix version and I think the better for it. All parts separate and/or move. Even the legs of the tiny L.E.M.! Well worth researching the correct painting patterns/colours as both the Revel and Airfix instructions are wrong if you are wanting to build something as realistic as possible.

This is a very detailed model of the saturn 5 rocket, You'll need to help a child build it, but what better way to have quality parent / child time? Needs some space to display once its built, and it might not survive being played with by a boisterous older child, as it splits up into the stages.
