Revell outdid themselves on this model kit. I've been purchasing and building Revell model kits since the mid-60's and this is one really super detailed and as close to the real thing as one can get! This is definitely not a model kit for beginners by any means so you may wish to consider that when thinking about purchasing this particular model kit. Most model kit companies rate their kits on a skill level these days of 1, 2 or 3 with 1 being the beginner and 3 being the very skilled modeler and I would rate this particular model kit a 3+ personally.Like I stated earlier, I've been building model kits since the mid-60's (like 1964/65) and this kit looks like it's going to be a real challenge even for my skill level.I am actually a professional modeler, as I've sold many of my works over the decades and to date I've yet to have one negative comment about my work and with that being said... I am truly looking forward to this build. I just hope I can find a nice clear acrylic display case to fit it to display this kit once completed?Read full review...

One of the larger models from Revell, the Routemaster. All of the parts are clean (no 'flashing' on the parts that have to be cut away) and it all goes together perfectly with no need to push or shove to make parts fit. Assembly is quite straightforward as most of the parts are on the large size and you build it in sections that fit together as you go along. No glue or paint is provided and for the best results it may be an idea to buy cans of spray paint (Halfords sell spray cans that are larger and cheaper than Revell's own make - Postage costs a fortune when buying spray cans online). I only used spray paint on the exterior and painted the inside by hand, which can be quite a task.Only one tin of each colour (Revell/Humbrol paint) was required for the inside. For the advanced modeler there is plenty of information and help online to help you recreate the bus of your childhood (adverts, routes, etc). I built the 109 which ran through Brixton in the 60's and added lights inside and out. A wonderful model to display and remember your visits to London.

a very large kit with some very big parts (see below) and very well moulded details, the fit on all parts has been excellent and there is minimal clean up of flash and stuff like that, an excellent repoduction of this world famous london icon well done revell !!!!!! 10/10nearing the end of this build and it has gone very well, no fit problems with any parts which is hard to say with any kit of any type, but this has been a pleasure to build a couple of things i would say are worth getting are some masking tape and some of the revell contacta clear glue as there are alot of windows to be fittied and they look much better when in place with the clear stuff, oh i almost forgot to say i used gloss white, matt black and gloss red aerosols for the big parts like the chassis and body shell and saloon floors it is alot quicker and looks great when dry, above all take your time and it will do this great kit justice i have done many kits but this rates as one of best (in my view anyway)

When buying this I had been modelling for about 2 years and I was ready to tackle some larger projects. This is a VERY large project. the main factor was the interior which is well worth it as you can easily see it through the windows. The detail is very good with good quality plastic that fits together well, I would actually recommend spraying or airbrushing your chosen colour on as it gives a nice finish. As I said work out how much spare time you have before undertaking this project. things I would recommend are revell or humbrol clear fix to attach the many windows which do fog up. Also humbrol MASKOL or revell modelling tape is good if you put the windows in before painting but otherwise you can put them in after painting.A very good project, I can't talk about the money as it was £25 when I got it but it seems to have gone up when I write this. I highly recommend this for intermediate to experienced modellers which time on their hands.

For a very reasonable price, you get a large kit with a huge amount of parts. The quality of the product is excellent and it is obvious that the manufacturer of the product has put in a considerable amount of effort and thought to make the assembly of this kit extremely rewarding in every sense. The way in which these parts fit together is precise and there are optional components that can be chosen at each stage. Although the instructions can be tricky to follow, if you read them carefully and think about how you are following each step then the result is satisfying. Certain instructions are recognised as being incorrect, but this is well publicised on various Internet scale modelling forums.Clearly this is an advanced level 5 scale model kit and demands a fair amount of skill to complete, as well as a significant amount of time, possibly a minimum of two months.Read full review...

In got this model painted and assembled stage by stage and all seemed to eventually fit together well.unfortunately, when it came to the sides , front and rear panels, these were warped and caused difficulty in assembly to the rest of the body. so a plastic filler had to be used. The biggest dissapointment was the waterslide transfers. i made the older model of the two versions and a lot of these are for the later version only. ie the legal lettering is in kilos, the owners address is wrong, the exit signs are wrong for the period ,etc. Now hoping that someone comes up with 1/24th scale transfers...

this is excellent model to build but will probably cost more in paint than the kit itself. i have been building now for nearly 2 weeks at about 2 hours a day and im about half way through although there is a lot of down time waiting for paint and glue to dry etc, im not going to build myself a london routemaster so have painted mine tartan peugeot green with cream interior as im not a fan of london or the queen. the build so far has gone to plan with the instructions fairly easy to follow looking forward to seeing the end result and it should make a nice display model......

I bought this for a present and couldn't find ANY details online about which colour paints were required. So here's a list of what appears on the box! (Note that it appears from the text that you might need some more colours for the details.)For the basic paint we recommend the following Revell colours:Ferrari red (34)Silver (90)Steel (91)Aluminium (99)Black (302)Beige (314)Purple red (331)Dark grey (378)To paint the details see the other colours in the building instructions. Please use Revell polystyrene cement from the CONTACTA series.

I'm a complete beginner and I loved every minute of this build. Its a massive undertaking but so much fun. I done the London bus first, I learned alot, for instance when fitting the body, do the sides first. I made the mistake of putting the front on first which made the rest of the fit very difficult. I loved so much I bought a second one and done in Glasgow corporation colours doing the sides first made the fit so much easier, I also made all my own decals for this one. I'm now thinking of doing a third one in stagecoach livery.

12.4.2018

There are a few annoying aspects, some of accuracy and scale. The decals cannot accurately depict the era when tbe bus came in to service. Nor of either of the two versions covered. But the quality of the mouldings is superb and it all fitted together with a minimum of filing and cutting. Needs a spray finish to set it off properly.Just built a second one and converted it to a standard (shorter) RM. The Route 93 one. Not for the feint hearted! A lot of cutting and filing!

This is the biggest and most demanding build the devil is in the detail you need to take your time and if serious then use the various forums on the build and the massive amount of images on google of the Routemaster. There are some minor technical errors and paint reference errors but looking at the online sources clear these up. The price you pay for the kit is key got it for £25 and it's well worth it and once completed will be a great display piece

A really terrific kit, well made and incredibly detailed although I wouldn't recommend it for an inexperienced modeller. It takes quite a time and an awful lot of patience to build and there's a lot of painting to do as all the parts come in grey and transparent plastic. Some small files and tweezers will come in handy, and you'll need at least two cans of the Revell 34134 Ferrari red gloss spray paint to do the main bodywork. Well worth it.

This kit is of either the Scania or Leyland versions of the iconic Routemaster! In the box are numerous sprues with hundreds of parts. The skill level is 5, so not for the faint hearted. You have a thick instruction manual with 90 different major steps to undertake to finish the kit.The kit is great fun to build, fits together well and is one of the most enjoyable model kits I've built and I don't normally build buses either!

Absolutely fantastic fun to build, if your not in a hurry. Yes it requires some skill and patience but the finished result is well worth it. Bargain.I don’t know why reviewers have complained about the instructions / fit / “hard work” required - that’s half the fun in building plastic kits!! If you want something requiring little or no painting that just falls together, maybe try a Bandai Star Wars kit (or a jigsaw puzzle.)

19.12.2019

Extremely detailed model, with crisp molding and well-designed parts breakdown. The decals for the seats and other interior and exterior details are well done. The instructions are clear and easy to follow. It is a great model, and it builds up into a nice-looking replica. Some parts are delicate and can be damaged in shipping and handling, and they will be difficult to repair if broken, so be careful.
