I recently gave this a run out with a hike up and down Snowdon. I took a slightly more difficult route up so really got the blood pumping. As you can expect for mid-October it was raining, fairly cold and windy. Perfect conditions to see how the Sangro jacket would perform.Overall I'm pretty happy. Certainly waterproof with a a large protective hood. Certainly windproof especially around my neck which velcros up quite far. The only area it probably fell down was the breathe-ability. As you can imagine wearing multiple layers to keep warm is going to contribute to the body sweating. I just wasn't quite prepared at the summit to be finding condensation running down the inside of the jacket.I probably could have taken some layers off as I got warmer on the climb but you try de-layering on a ridge with wind and rain. Was I expecting too much for the jacket's ability to breathe. Maybe. Will I send it back based on this. No I won't. There were too many positives. I'll probably just wear less layers next time and see how it goes.A quick bit on fit. I'm 6 feet 4 in and 14 stone. 'Large' fit me fine, even with layers underneath. So overall a good hiking jacket at a good price when I bought it. One star off for breathe-ability.

High quality, genuine The North Face product. I've owned numerous waterproof jackets over the years but most of them have felt plasticky, hot and sticky and eventually I've had trouble with zips and fasteners. Whilst the North Face jacket is definitely higher priced that your average raincoat it's a case of you get what you pay for. The material feels incredibly soft and light, fasteners are well made and the jacket should last many years. I wear it when driving and it feels light and supple enough that you forget you are wearing it. It's not that insulated though so don't expect it to keep you warm, although it does help keep the wind chill away.I will probably purchase an insulated jacket in the future from The North Face for the winter outdoors, but the Sangro jacket is perfect for milder seasons and when there's a chance of rain. The zipped pockets are very generous, no problems putting my dashcam, wallet, phone, keys and coins inside. Although I didn't have chance to try on the different sizes before purchasing, the size guide on the manufacturers website is spot on and incredibly helpful. Fits like a glove and I would not hesitate anyone choosing this product.

I'm a telecommunications engineer (aerials, satellite etc) so spend days rushing around London or climbing pitched roofs in dire weather. An old company coat handed to me (Helly Hanson) would leave me soaked before even starting work on rainy days which was a terrible rain coat, and always feeling hot and clammy. This North Face coat looks very smart, keeps me bone dry (I ended up shielding a colleague while they knelt looking in a equipment cabinet) and is much more breathable than most rain coats which means you stay comfortable and don't get so hot, very pleased.Only thing I would say, I'm 6ft 2 and 13 stone, the large coat was way too big for me, the back area looked as though it could fit another person in it,so unless you're a larger gentleman go for Medium size.

This is really an upgraded Resolve jacket. The 2 jackets are very similar. The resolve has rip stop anorak type finish whereas the resolve has a smarter cotton looking finish. Both are waterproof, breathable and seam sealed. The sangro has velcro sleeve adjustable fasteners but Resolve is elasticated. The hoods on these are a bit big. I solved this by just folding the front back..I ended up trying both but kept the sangro..PS: Having read the reviews (and using tools on north face site)I thought the jacket would be larger than normal size.I therefore first bought large instead of XL from elsewhere but had to return it.I think if you normally get XL be very wary going for just a large because of the review comments..

Bought a medium for my 16 year old son. He loves it! The fit is as expected, though if you are normally between sizes I would probably go larger rather than smaller, if you plan to wear more than one layer underneath. The hood rolls away neatly, pockets zip up safely, the zip does fasten the 'wrong' way, but my son assures me that he can get used to that and he has not mentioned it since the first time he wore it. He wears this jacket for school, but it is also fine for outdoor pursuits. Waterproof and trendy - everyone is happy! (I may borrow it when he isn't looking.)

The jacket is really comfy to wear. Breathable even with just a t shirt on. My previous regatta jacket would have sweat running down my arms if worn with a t shirt. The price was very cheap at the time as Amazon had an offer on north face clothing. All in all a very nice stylish jacket that can be worn with just about anything.I was going to get the north face resolve jacket but am glad I chose this one.It would of got 5 stars but the hood is very awkward to adjust. It seems to big and covers your eyes when pulled tight. But it is OK if worn on top of a cap.

As expected top rate item from top rate company. I looked into a lot of these light weight rain coats. All go on about how well they keep you dry but don't breath well and cause you to sweat once you start doing anything and coat sticks to you. Not with the North face it has a mesh lining and also has the zip behind the storm flap as the other manufacturers have zip exposed to the elements.

As materials and technology have moved on, it's perhaps unfair to compare this to my previous waterproof coat which was nearly 20 years old! The coat is light, breathable and the waterproof quality is amazing. If I were doing a lot of serious walking I'd look for an inner map pocket and a hood with a wire peak, but for dog walking and the weekend ramble this is idea.

This coat is brilliant for a North Face coat, it is very good for keeping you dry during a rainy winter. I must say I bought a Large and it doesn't feel like its a bit too big, almost feeling like an XL. Its not the warmest coat by any means but for a North Face coat under £100 it is a very good by and recommend it to anyone who lives or works in a wet environment.

Bought this jacket for about €70...tried it out on a 6 hour hike in the Yorkshire Dales - it was great - light, waterproof, possibly not the most breathable jacket in the world but I was impressed. Zip on the other side is odd but you get over it and for tall people, it might be on the slightly short side. I would recommend it though.

Nice, light, water proof and smart looking jacket - everything you would expect from North Face but at a great price at £68. Jacket fitted perfectly and I a good length is lightweight and breathable, hood could be a bit large for some tastes as is quite wide but overall very happy with this.

Good jacket.I like the peak on the hood for letting rain fall away.I picked up a separate North Face fleece jacket direct from Amazon as well and wear one or both depending on temperature and which type of rain is falling.Bought it at a decent price.

As expected, usual North Face quality, light and packable. Haven't worn it in severe weather but it certainly keeps out showers and wind. Doesn't seem as breathable as similar garments I've owned though but full length zip helps ventilation/ cooling.

Fits really nice in a small and im 5ft9, I did my measurements on the north face website for the the same product to find my size and its high accurate so I do recommend this. Nice and warm and nice hideaway hood in the neck warmer.

I've been using it for a few weeks. Very light, waterproof and breathable! I cycle to work and this is perfect. The hoodie that goes into the collar is a win for me. Don't like having it handing from my neck when I don't need it.
