Although not exactly my preferred taste, and much to the simpler side with of taste combinations, still a great single malt. As with everything the Japanese are taking extra care with details. The after taste is what really wins you over... It’s like driving a Lexus for the first time, it’s just not as edgy, not as shiny, not quite the bang you’d expect, and then it’s something you just won’t change over anything else. Great whisky, not too complicated, not very demanding but worthy of remembering. Will be having another bottle for science purposes soon. Cheers!

Don't compare Japanese whisky to Scotch. Its a bit like comparing a BMX bike to a Road bike. They're basically the same but they're also worlds apart. There are more complicated scotch whiskys out there but few that can offer as clean and crisp a drink as Yamazaki can. Japan offers you a different option. The price is a little high when compared to some Scottish offerings but its a quality whisky and worth it for the sake of an extra £10/£15.This is easy to drink and fairly light.

This is much more than an introduction to Japanese Whisky, it really punches above it's weight. You can really taste the use of the wine (cabernat sauvignon) barrels in the ageing process. This makes for me a unique and really enjoyable whisky, suitably different from Sherry casks but still with the same Mountain Fresh Complexity (Paradox I know) that Yamazaki has. No discernable smoke or peatiness.

I can't honestly say I'm an expert on whiskey, but i do love a single malt.I bought this on impulse as I felt like treating myself and boy I'm glad I did! This is my first taste of Japanese whiskey and it certainly will not be the last, from the first sip it just glided down my mouth, velvety smooth.I might have to keep this bottle to myself, and tell my friends to by on my recommendation.SUPERB!!

I had never tried a Japanese Whisky before but as one had recently won an award I decided to treat myself to this one. It doesn't disappoint. A full bodied slightly smoky taste rich in flavour would meet with most peoples palate and on a taste table is similar to a Singleton of Dufftown. If you want to try Japanese Whisky at a reasonable price I would recommend you start here.

This is lovely. A truly surprising, well balanced whisky with warm honey and flowers on the palate and gentle edge in the after-taste.The first time I tasted it I was sure I could sense just a hint of Sake but I think that could've just been my subconscious thinking of Japan!A very pleasant Distillers Edition that is easily as good as rivals in the £50 price range.

You had better watch out Scotland...if the price comes down as much as North sea Oil, you may soon be worried about this!Beautiful.......3 of us finished most of it off in one sitting....which was very greedy, but lovely all the same! Smooth, mellow and with a slightly different....like a very classy lowland Malt.......It was bloody expensive though!

How you could not rate this 5* I don't understand. Yamazaki is a classic Japanese whisky - seems to manage a balance between being light but having tons of flavor. Yes, it is more expensive than a standard brand however I think in this case you get a lot extra for your money. For a treat, or a special gift this is a top class choice.

Lovely smell, very like sherry, but I really don't like the taste. A let a friend try it and he absolutely loved it, hence the four stars. It is down to personal preference at the end of the day, and I think I prefer peated whiskey. If you do too, go for Lagavulin. Holy smokes it is nice.

The first sip ?As soon as you take the first sip you realise you've entered the starts of a different level of whisky.Neat, no ice. Perfect.Comparing it to Maker's Mark, Yamazaki is the same step up as Maker's is from JD. Although JD will always be my go-to!Next up Woodford.......

This was bought as a gift. Not a Scotch drinker myself, but this smelt and tasted nicer than most others I've tried and I picked up on its smoothness and interesting, complex aftertaste. It was very well received by a friend who loves his single malts. I know it's one of his favourites.

A single malt whisky, with a refreshingly light and pleasant taste. No sharp notes and more importantly (for me at least) none of that burning sensation associated with so many Scottish products. Well worth the money, got another bottle already sorted ^_^

I don't actually like whisky but I bought this for a Christmas present for my boyfriend who is starting to get into different whiskys.. He seems to enjoy it so that's all that mattered!! Comes in a lovely box and the bottle itself looks nice :)

Bought my brother in law this cos we stayed with his family for a few days and he kept plying me with this whisky...and it is superb...I ended up drinking nearly all of his whisky...it's lovely stuff...costs a bit but worth every penny
