We actually picked up a bottle of this whisky at our local bulk buy warehouse.  I'd never tried a Japanese whisky before, sticking strictly to aged single malt Scotch, but really wanted to give it a go, so when we saw this on sale we just grabbed it.The packaging is exemplary, really hinting at the Japanese roots.  Suntory is a well known distiller and it's good to see a nice piece coming from such a brand.  The bottle shape is also nice, and either in or out of the box looks nice on our whisky cabinet. The scent on opening the bottle is not overpowering at all, and feels nice and soft.  The colour is golden caramel, and it sits neatly on its own or over ice (I'm not a fan of whisky discs or cubes).  Tasting the whisky was a really nice experience too, there was no sharpness or harshness to the taste, and it seemed like a very mellow Speyside to me.  It's definitely a fresh taste, and there is a slight smoke to the afterglow.I'm really glad I tried this whisky, and I'm pretty sure there's always going to be a bottle of this knocking around our house.Highly recommended by my husband who wrote this review and is currently enjoying a glass of this delightful whisky for research purposes. :)

Like the hibiki and Yamazaki NAS offerings this does not disappoint and is a great product if you are not so willing to fork out for the 12 year old variety. This is a fresh clean dram which has a style all of its own. Mostly I get a grassy, pine needle, honey dew melon flavour with a small tinkering of smoke and spearmint (chewing gum). Its hard to say anything new about this whisky that hasn't already been written in a previous review, and that's just fine. The only drink I have experienced to taste similar to this is compass box 'enlightenment' which is a limited edition whisky, so great news as hopefully hakushu distillers reserve is here to stay

A fresh, almost herbal whisky (hence the green branding). May not be to the tastes of everyone - especially those who prefer peaty Islay Scotches, but this is something quite different to most single malts out there. Go for this if you're feeling a little experimental, and if you want something quite light and fresh that finishes with a hint of smoke. Lovely stuff.

It is unlike most Whisky I have tried but hard to explain really, as it's undoubtably Whisky all the same! It's easy drinking and fresh on the palate with light fruit, a slight botanical edge and a hint of smoke. Definitely no stewed prunes, peat or tarmac here!I nearly didn't buy because the tasting notes sounded a weird combination but I'm glad I did.......

Very impressive for a whisky lover who leans towards complex, sweet, peaty whisky's. A fresh subtle yet complex nose which bares no resemblance to the confident long finish with hints of peach you receive on the palate. Its perfect for a change of pace which I am somewhat taken a back by. Recommended.

it arrived on time and well packed as always. it was a present for friend of mine as he loves whiskies and particularly Japanese. It is a bit smoky, but not much as some Scotch whiskies, even I like those. This is very smooth, mellow and easy to drink. I wouldn't mind to buy as a present again.

This is an outstanding whisky, it is, in my opinion, the most beautifully balanced and finely crafted ram that reasonable money can buy. IT has the most wonderfully delicate nose of fresh green grass, light smoke and pine forests, I thoroughly recommend this Whisky

I got this as a gift and think this is a very delicious and satisfying whiskey. Had the Yamazaki before, which I loved but this is just as good. Thoroughly recommend for the whiskey lover looking for something different.

Simply fantastic. If you're on the fence about Japanese whisky, I encourage you to dive in with Suntory. Such a gorgeous whisky. The Yamazaki has more spice, but this one is so damn nice I'm afraid it won't last.

This is a superb Whiskey. Very smooth and subtle, easy & clean drinking. All friends who've had a sample have been very impressed also. I recommend to anyone who enjoys a drop of good quality whiskey.

I never liked whiskey, but when I had this one, it was and still is the most exciting spirit I have ever tasted. And the cost is very reasonable. You must try it...

Bought as a gift. Friend enjoyed it, had some myself, interesting flavour notes but would recommend for someone wanting to try a whisky that’s a little different.

A really nice experience. Floral, citrusy, light yet rich in taste. A nice addition to my experience of Japanese whiskies (which have all been excellent).

Interesting flavours. Bit of bite at the beginning, bit of smoke after and a weird herbal undertone. Interesting, worth a try, not the best, but good.

The last bottle of Hakushu was not my first and definitely not my last it is truly superb and would recommend to any whisky drinker.
