As always since the first inception of the metal plane you can expect to have little problems to overcome. This one was no exception.The blade would not lock in place but easily fixed. Screws may need to changed etc. But good value for your money. Don't be deterred by the fussy adgustment process, ones you get the hang of it everything comes together. These are the only planes that can successfully clean and train, but be warned, don't try to plane a painted surface, that can ruin the blade edge and they take hours of work to get them right. I like this plane. Beautifully sharp after the slightest tweak, and adjustments are nice and smooth. I have no issues with the sole plate, as some reviews have mentioned. Although I haven’t given it a highly critical check, it is certainly not visibly misaligned. I would only use this for things like chamfers and end grain, and would rarely place it on surface that requires anything to be flattened that is larger than the sole itself.(i.e.always used at an angle to the workpiece).Personally, I am very happy with this purchase.

Lovely little block plane which works a treat (at least for a wannabe DIY craftsman like myself).One thing to be aware of I guess, is that the plane is notably smaller that I though it would be. I know the dimensions are clearly stated, but I was still surprised at just how petite it was in the flesh.That said it's been capably of the jobs I've given it so far.Also: I honed the blade a little before using it, so I can't speak for how good the blade was out the box... erm... blister pack :)

As with stanley items these days...it's all about tune up tune up tune up and more tune up. Get ready to grind the sole and sides of this plane for at least one evening and many sheets of sand paper. Of course you also have to sharpen the blade to the recommended 30 degree angle since it comes sharpened at 25 degrees. Once that is done you will have a good block plane for chamfers and end-grain.

Good quality product, does exactly what it meant to do. As a tradesman it no good buying inferior tools, it a proven brand that has served me well over many years ,also the price was good for a genuine Stanley plane .

Having purchased a small plane from Wickes, own brand, its nice to have a plane that actually works. I am not a joiner but build model boats and the plane is so nice to use after always using surforms.

Bought to trim the side of a couple of sticking doors. Never used a plane before, but it was easy to set up the blade and it did a great job. The doors are now repainted and not sticking ?

Although not quite as good as the Stanley Block plane I have had for many years it is still a good product. I only bought the new one because they no longer make blades for the old one.

the only issue i have is that it is not identical to the picture, in that it doesn’t have a small handle/knob at the front! Otherwise does what it says on the tin.

Found that the cast base was concave so I flattened it using a very flat surface and fine emery paper grits. Only used once so far and it was fine.

Please understand that all budget planes need to be tuned up prior to use. Tune it up sharpen the blade and it's a good little block plane.

Nice little block plane, doesn't take up to much room in my tool bag. Blade was quite Sharp ready to use, nice adjustment no depth of cut.

Surpringly good for the price. This plane has managed to do all that I have required of it. Definitely to be recommended.

Did the task well a couple of doors had been sticking for years. Sharp blade made easy work of shaving off. Great item

Really happy with this plane and good value. Eased sticking door quickly and easily. Great addition to home toolkit.
