Horray!!! finaly, sonic gets to make his appearence on the DS and he has a secret weapon, speed, and boy is he gona' use it!speed can get this blue dude out of anything. if he throws a brick at a shop window, he can vanish before he's beaten to death. if he accidently dropped a bricklayers sandwich in the sewers below, he can vanish before he gets drowned in the sewers by the bricklayer, and of course, he can get away from his enemy, Dr. eggman. But how does he do it? Speed of course! but speed was scarse in the past sonic games. Sonic heros, shadow the hedgehog, sonic adventure? HA HA HA!!!!!! they're nothing compared with the mighty blues sonic rush, but how is this so different? well, thank goodness for the speed giving BOOST BAR!!!!!!!!! this is the very weapon that made sonic rush a mighty succsses! This game was officialy made "The best sonic game ever!" by Nintendo official magazine with a rating of 92% out of 100%!!!! OMG!!! and i never realised that sonics new platformer can beat the total 3d's!Now, the part you want to see, the game! once you turn on, there is a welcoming appearence of sonic and the new character, blaze the cat! they appear in 3D and if you turn on the DS at full blast, the sound is the loudest guarenteed with spectacular surround sound! there are three main game modes: main game, time attack (Show off yer speed!) and multiplayer. the other option is OPTIONS (see what I did!). if you go in main game, there is a clear voice-over asking "please select your character" and the one you choose does and pose in good 3D. (you can only choose sonic on your first go and i think you can play as blaze on the second stage). lets not forget "Tails"! he will be supporting sonic in the game and "Cream" who will be supporting blaze (i din't know where these names and from). The game is cleaverly designed on gameplay other than storyline. That is how games SHOULD be set up! Very well done! the storyline is still good with a wider range of other characters like creams' mother and eggman-nega! other than that, when you start a level, you start at high speed other than accelerate. the levels are very, very well designed to keep the speed going and there are less obsticals, but there are plenty of robo-enemies of eggman to stop you. But what happens when you hit an enemy and loose all your rings? would you panic? would you spontaniously combust? would your head fall off? well get your party poppers at the ready because this is where the boost bar comes in! there is no speed up to get away from you foe this time, you tap the Y button and sonic shoots off killing his enemy in front of him! doing this can also get you up high places instanly without havong to go back and run down a long path to gain speed. you can also hold the Y button while moving to go like the wind, killing anything in sonics path with his super sonic blue flames of death!!! but there is a catch, there is a limited amount of boost. (a maximin of 300%) if you hit an enemy without boosting, you loose some of your boost and rings but you can gain it back by going through check points, killing robos and doing tricks on springs etc. as usual, you have to face the boss every two stages and the surroundings are in 3D!!! and what about the legendary chaos emeralds??? well the boost bar is used to perffection! you come accross a special cycle and you boost to give up 100% to enter a special stage! this is where the touch screen comes in! i'm glad the screen isn't used in the platforming. this would have spoiled the succsses. you use the screen on the special stages while the stylus remains still in the main game. i like that! the special stages are in 3D but this is no half-pipe! use the stylus to control sonic where he's running! there are robos and new obsticals to get across and new pleasent ways to collect rings (i won't go into full detail)> i think thats enough for the main game!for the time attack, you have five times per level that are recorded, the first time is saved with a ghost that you can try to beat! (What else is there to explain?).For multiplayer, you can only have two with either playing sonic or blaze. you can have multi-card or single card play. the only mode (i think) is race. you have to spoil you opponents succsses by breaking boxes with items (i can't tell what they are because i don't have multiplayer)I hope this monster review was a big help in making your choice on buying this game. to help even more, i've got some extras.Graphics: 9/10. the game combines platform with a 3D model of sonic and blaze and there are bosses and special stages which are displayed in full, high quality 3D! the level design is also spectacilar!!!Gameplay: 9/10. it's the true speed of sonic and the boost bar that made the gameplay much higher than the other sonic games! the special stages are much easier to get the emeralds and the touch screen has been used very well, in fact, i play the special stages much more than any other sonic game!!!Sound: 9/10. very catchy music that you will love to bop with! one even shouts "GO, GO, GO!" all the way through it!Innovation: 8/10. the touch screen is only used in the special stages but used very well to get sonic through.Value: 8/10. two characters, a great story, perffect gemeplay, true speed, oh, what else!?!?overal: 43/50. don't let this score confuse you! it maybe 7 points away from the big 50, but this if the best sonic game ever!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!Pros:1.the fastest sonic game around! thats the truth, get over it!2.controling sonic on special stages makes you feel like a gaming master!Cons:1. some nasty slow-down on multiplayer.2. there are not a million levels. at some point, the fun will end. sob, sob, sob.

'After finally finishing Sonic Adventure 2 on the Dreamcast recently, I decided to pick up the portable adventure to blast through and found that Sonic is back to his roots in a short but sweet DS adventure.''Sonic Rush released back in 2005 to a high critical reception, following in a long line of rather mediocre sonic games and spin offs (Sonic Riders, Shadow the hedgehog), this is classic sonic through and though, with a few little extras thrown in for good measure.''The gameplay is very easy to get to grips with, albeit at a very quick pace, meaning that you will always have to be looking ahead while blasting through the zones. While the controls may seem familiar to any sonic veteran with the standard D-pad controls, the action buttons make the game much more involved by inclusion of the 'tension gauge' which when filled (by doing the normal sonic-y things such as collecting rings, defeating enemies and the new inclusion of 'tricking') allows you to do certain new moves such as a boost or dash to help you get to your goal.''The basic structure is both a blessing and a curse. You follow a basic top down map through seven zones, each consisting of two regular action stages, and one boss battle. While this keeps the game varied, it does mean that you may be finding yourself retrying the stages a number of times. The key here is getting used to the controls, tricks and the levels themselves, as you will find yourself running straight into traps and enemies if you are not careful, loosing your precious lives which will need to last you through the three parts of the zone.''The story again is rather forgettable involving another new character 'Blaze' and some sort of split in the space time continuum thingboby, but i digress.''The Zones themselves are largely different with each new stage offering up new 'gimmicks' to use, such as hover platforms, hang gliders and underwater turbines, as well of course being drastically different in terms of visuals from night time casino themed levels to green jungles.''One very interesting aspect of the game is both the special stages and the boss battles, which take place in full 3d. While this is not the DS's strong point, these stages still look very impressive on the handheld, albeit with rather limiting left and right controls.''Overall, this is a very strong DS platform than any sonic fan who may have been burned by the last few instalment should definitely consider picking up. With its fact paced and easy to jump into gameplay, I look forward to seeing how the series on the handheld progresses. In fact, I'm heading straight onto the sequel 'Sonic Rush: Adventure' next!'

Sonic the Hedgehog was one of the first video games that I ever played. This was back in the days when the Sega Mega Drive was the latest and best games console around. I loved Sonic back then, all those crazy levels and the excellent Dr Robotnik. Sonic Rush is the first time I have seen Sonic since the Mega Drive experience. Sonic Rush is one of those annoyingly addictive games where you tell yourself you will play for five minutes for fun, but it never is. Once you've started, you HAVE to get to that next level. The levels are easy to work out - basically just 'rush' through them once or twice to get the feel of them and then you're ready to play for real.Even the easy setting can be difficult and frustrating at times.Although the box says that you can play either as Sonic or Blaze the Cat, you actually have to complete Level 1 acts 1 & 2 to be entitled to play as Blaze. These levels are not too hard to complete though so don't worry. What was weird was that Blaze's adventure seems to be a lot harder than Sonic's although he does do the whole underwater palace thing which means trying to get from one set of bubbles to another to get air as well as completing the game, collecting rings, jumping and swinging off things and of course bumping off the enemies.I have only managed to get to Zone 2 level 1 as Sonic and Zone 1 level 2 as Blaze but then, I am not a professional gamer and this weekend was the first time in about 10 years that I have played a game. The only thing I don't like is Sonic's 'makeover' which makes him look like he drank Manga potion and the stupid annoying dancing and rocking forwards that he does. Also, why make Blaze look almost identical to Sonic?Anyway, if you enjoy platform games, I would recommend this but be warned, you'll get addicted. Some quick points:The touch screen and stylus has extremely limited use (only to select characters adn levels)The graphics are fairly basic - mostly 2D but some bosses in 3DBUT:Easy to learn (did not even read the booklet.Has extra features like super moves. Is very entertaining. Each level contains different routes so you may not go the same way each time - gives it a lot of variety.I only gave this 4 instead of 5 because I don't know what happens later in the game.

The Nintendo DS is in fine form when it comes to platformers right now with the recent release of the outstanding kirby and with new super mario bros and princess peach just a few short months off, luckly for DS owners Sega have also released one of there best sonic games in years. The formular is very similar to previous sidescrolling sonic games speed, good level design and creative bosses. The game makes use of both screens of the DS it basicly turnes the 2 screens and makes them one large screen, this is very handy as sonic moves so quick you can see far enough ahead of you to react to what the level may throw at you.To keep the speed of the game up sega have intruduced a boost button,if sonic stops or gets hit by a enimy one press of the boost button and sonic is at full speed again however the boosts are not unlimited. Every time sonic does a jump you can do mid air combos buy pressing different combinations of the A and B buttons this then tops up your boost bar, its no SSX trick system but it is fun. Each level is made up of 2 stages and a boss, the boss stages are 3d and very creative just like we have come to expect from a sonic game some of the boss stages are very easy then there are a few difficult ones also. The special stages are very similar to the ones in sonic 2(megadrive) basicly you have a half pipe and you use the touch screen to controll sonic and gather rings without getting hit by bombs if you collect enough rings you will win a chaos emerald. The graphics are very good the stages are in 2d but are very detailed and it moves fast then the boss stages have good quality 3d graphics the music however i did find quite crap after a while the tunes will drive you up the wall.CLOSING COMMENTSWhile sonic rush does not really do anything different from the established formular it is a solid platformer worthy of entertaning you untill mario bros comes out also take a look at kirby DS and you will be in platforming heaven.Overall score 85%

Fans of the series will know, that although recent games have been low on innovation as well as fun, the Sonic series has been in the past one of the most impressive and enjoyable fanchises avalible on the Video Games market. Sonic Rush brings Sonic back from the troubles of the 3D games, and mixes everything thats great and fun about the Sonic Adventure Series with all the fantasic speed and sound of the 2D era.Sonic Rush is, in fact, so fast you will probably find it hard to believe that all other sonic games feel slow in comparrision. The ability to shoot yourself through the air after jumping a spring board allows you to cut giant chunks off your game time.Makeing the TimeTrail mode in Rush extremely exciting. The main game is very short however, and being able to complete it in a day or two may leave you feeling a bit ripped off. But it won;t be long before your playing the whole ting again or doing the time trial, like I said, you can get hours of fun finding tons of new routes through your favorate of the 7 (acctually 14 with two acts each) levels.Sonic Rush has so much replay value it will probably stay neatly in your DS for many weeks and not be to far from there after you get a new game or two.Rush is not only the fastest sonic game and the best platformer on the Ds, its also the best offering the DS can give you without a Wifi option. And that said, the multiplay is a little thin on the ground, but test your friends times agains yours as well as finding all the Chaos emeralds wil keep you busy and entertained for weeks and months after you think you're done with the game.Without a doubt, an essential purchase for the DS

I recently purchased 2 USED games one day before my birthday. The two games were 'SONIC COLLECTION' for the DS and 'SONIC RUSH' also for the DS. Today i walked in the house and saw 2 packages with my name on. I noticed that there was an absence of the Amazon logo. One of the packages had a receipt. On one of the packages there was a poorly drawn Post code written in RED. I opened the 'SONIC COLLECTION' DS case and inside was 'Super Mario Bro's' i was fuelled with frustration. So i immediately checked the 'SONIC RUSH' game case. Everything was in order and i was excited to play.Chapter 2:So i start the game up and everything looks great! I change the difficulty and start up the game.As the save data screen loads i alert my eyes to what could only be a 1 in a million coincidence. For those of you who dont know. My game accounts go under the alias 'CREAMY JONES' and my characters are called CREAMY (Dont ask why) So i open up the game which seems to have progressed quite far and as i stare blankly at the ds, the screen stares coldly back into my soul as it reads the name 'CREAMY' I had a weird feeling about the game and the packaging and getting the wrong game in the other package reinforced that feeling. But when a save game bought from a strange from around the world, is named as MY name with a creepy atmosphere, i have a right to feel a little weary.I'm sorry i cant provide any images or footage of this, but it would be pointless as it would be easy to fake and would not be worth a look.

What A Game!!!I thoroughly enjoyed playing this game. it plays as a return to the classic structure of levels rather than rubbish 3D (such as Sonic Adventure) and focuses more on gameplay than story. Very addictive too. Special stages are easier and make use of the touch screen, playing like the sonic 2 special stages. You can play as either sonic or blaze (blaze is unlocked after completing first zone as sonic) and if you get the 7 chaos emeralds for sonic and complete the game with both characters you earn the right to play in the "extra" stage with both Super Sonic & Super Blaze.Due to the DS's dual screen format levels are more vertical than before, with sonic running between screens. The addition of the dash feature (charged by doing mid air tricks by tapping B) means that sonic can get through levels faster and charge straight through enemies. Blaze is not as good as sonic in the speed department, but makes up for it with her better jumping ability. This game is well worth buying if you enjoyed the classic sonic games.

Portable games tend to be the worst in a franchise. This is true for Mario, Kirby and Assassins Creed as well as many others. But this has never seemed the case for Sonic, the Sonic advance series was amazing. So I was actually going in with high hopes and expectations, I came out not sure what to think. While the majority of the levels offer some enjoyable fun, others are tedious and annoying. I don't know whether this is poor level design or the annoying music, which is incredibly repetetive. I mean hearing some levels over and over again can drive a man to kill himself. But I shouldn't keep complaining, there are some genuinely fun levels and not all the music is bad, just most of it.The story, though not amazing is quite good and is what kept me hooked. The graphics are actually good for an early DS game and the extra levels are more fun than the normal ones.+ Good story+ Extra levels work well- Some poor level design- Music is irritating

This is one of the only games on DS for hardcore gamers. It is a welcome return to form for sonic after horrendous outings such as sonic heroes and sonic advance 3. You can tell sega took the megadrive games into consideration whilst making this. The graphics are ace, with a little hint of cel-shading, and the boss stages are new. And now, instead of just sonic you get blaze the cat (who isn't bad, but sonic's better). One thing I really like with this game is the boost bar. It adds a whole new dimension to the game, as it makes you want to do the time trials (which were pointless additions in older games) and it means there is never a dull moment. To top it all off, the sounds and songs are awesome, some of the best on DS and I regularly use the sound test in the options menu. The only problem with it is replay value. But for quality gaming on DS look no further than Sonic rush. It's a must have.

Isn't it ironic that the best sonic title since sonic and knuckles all those years ago, appears on a nintendo console? This game has gone back to basics and ditched all the rubbish sonic clones and crap storylines and has just stuck with simplicity. This game is as fast as hell and you can pull of some sweet moves and there are some truly memorable moments. You get to play as sonic and new kid on the block: Blaze. which now brings me to the reason why i gave this 4 stars. The new character, blaze is simply rubbish, no way near as fun as sonic and could have been easily replaced by (my favourite) knuckles.when you select blaze, you just get to play the same levels with this character which lets the game down some what, because you get the feeling of being forced into repetition.Overall, a good solid sonic title, if you don't have it, buy it now! it will keep you busy until sonic rush adventure!

This game is simply amazing. Okay, it might be in 2d, which might put some people off but the game is presented very nicely, it has a storyline and the levels are huge and very, very imaginative. This game makes great use of both screens of the console and is a joy to see. The levels are full of life and you race through them so fast its unbelievable. There are also a bunch of new features added to the gameplay. You can do tricks while in the air, which fills up your boost metre. It adds a lot to the gameplay.Theres also a new character, called Blaze the Cat. Along with familiar faces such as Tails, Knuckles and, of course Eggman. The bosses are in full 3d and look amazing.I haven't been able to put the game down since I bought it. I'm not even a sonic fanboy, but this is the best sonic game I have played since sonic and knuckles. Buy this game. It is the best game I have played on the DS.

Rather than repeat other reviewers comments here's additional information about this game for you. It's 7 levels played each time by 2 characters, so 14 but 7 duplicated. The game requires the player to learn levels to succeed. Be aware you might need to fail 2 or even 10 times until you know where you have to leap etc.If you're buying pre-owned make sure you look up the controls on an internet faq guide first, mine had a manual missing & thus took an hour until I figured out what Sonic could do.I love this game, but trust me I have sworn & almost thrown the DS down at some of the more unforgiving levels. My main criticism is when you lose all your lives you're thrown back to the load up title screens, why not just let you tap a restart button not go through 30 seconds of made by Sega blah, blah, blah.A brilliant game, more like this for all consoles please.

Sonic Rush DS is a wounderful adventure game in which you play as either Sonic the Hedgehog or Blaze the Cat. Sonic is yet again trying to find the chaos emeralds (he just keeps loosing those things! Strange, if I had something so expensive and vital I'd keep a very close eye on them), and Blaze is trying to find the SOl emeralds to save her home planet from the (aparently imortal - how many games has he been in?) evil Dr. Eggman (who is now called "Eggman Nega"!)In all of the exciting DS levels you'll have to run, jump, spin and slide to stay alive and kill the enemies. Collect rings to get lives, and generally have a great time running and jumping through the exciting new levels in Sonic Rush.A great game for DS owners!

When i first played this game i was a bit sceptical, no doubt it was good but i was unsure of the dual screen play, and the fact that the stylus isnt used often, BUT the next day i gave it another chance and i couldnt put it down! It was just like the sonics of old, get from the start of level to the end as soon as possible, unlike the gameboy advance titles which i felt highly dissapointed by.Another great aspect is the chaos emerald levels, theyre old school but yet still modern, and there is an extra level when you complete both the sonic and blaze campaigns (when you have collected all the chaos emeralds)which sees you flying through the air battling dr eggman! This is a MUST have game without doubt!

Let me stress this loved the classic Mega Drive sonic games and all of those classics and in most newer games sadly i have to say....they went downhill. But this is a good little 2D sonic game one I have wanted this kind of thing for along time. Yes it does use some of the rubbish newer cast in the series they keep adding and yes its storyline flops around and doesnt intrested me in the smallist. But it is a fun game and at least is not something like that awful sonic next gen crap.So overall if you liked the mega drive games or even the advanced series this is well worth checkin out.----Alex Gradwell/Venomtheevil----
