Let's start by saying that I'm far from being a Mario fan: the only Mario game I ever owned and played before this one was Super Mario Land on the Game Boy, back in 1990. Nearly 25 years later, I figured out it would be time to give the series another shot, hence the purchase of this "New Super Mario Bros".I can honestly say I enjoyed this game a lot. The graphics are solid and colourful, pretty much 2D Mario-style, the music themes are bubbly and incredibly catchy, and the controls are sharp and precise once you have gotten used to the specific physics of the game. The levels are full to the brim with interesting and challenging platform gimmicks, and the game definively encourages and rewards careful exploration.I've been through a first playthrough and I'm far from having discovered all the secrets the game's in-world has to offer.When it comes to the difficulty, after having read many reviews complaining that the game was way too simple and could be cleared in 3 to 5 hours, I expected an fairly easy ride. Well, it was not. It took me much longer than just a couple of hours to reach the end of this first playthrough I mentioned above, and I lost a fair amount of lives in the process. I guess the game may appear easy to veterans of the series; still, chances are high that it will be quite more challenging to newcomers. All in all , the difficulty curve is well balanced: it allows the player to adapt slowly but surely to the many gimmicks of the game, offering them levels that grow increasingly harder to beat while never feeling overwhelmingly difficult.As for the negative side, a few details could definitely have been more polished. The boss battles could have been a tad more complex and challenging, and it would have been convenient to have the possibility to save at any point, rather than only in a few selected locations. Still, those are minor quips, and certainly do not ruin the general quality of the game nor the pleasure taken in playing it.As a whole, this is a very solid offering, enjoyable and fun to play, and quite addictive to boot. I very seldom play platform games- let alone Mario game, as I mentioned-but this one managed to charm me and get me hooked. It seems to have been designed to bring the core of the 2D Mario lore to a new generation of gamers who never had the chance to play the original 2D Mario games. It may disappoint Mario veterans by giving them a feeling of "déja-vu", but newcomers to the series should definitively enjoy it and give it a try!

I bought this for myself and my new look DS (as opposed to a brick style game boy i must have had in the early 1990s!). When i was younger i loved Super Mario Brothers and then Mario 2, Six Golden Coins so i felt that this was the natural progression!This is a great game, and its not just for kids! It is frustratingly difficult as you get to the later levels! Somehow, i got to the end of the game without unlocking two of the worlds and i found it wasen't easy to work out how to unlock them ( i won't spoil it for you!). Graphics are good, story is typical Mario, and the extras and 2 player wi-fi modes are worth thier own game!I am currently going back to get all the coins and work on the unlocked levels...look forward to another similar style game in the near future!

I bought this game for my daughter's 5th birthday, being a bit unsure whether it would be too difficult for her. Well it's turned out to be a BIG hit! I needn't of worried - she enjoys playing it, her elder sister (7 very soon) is really good at it, and I quite enjoy it too!My eldest can unlock the different worlds for her to play. Perhaps if you had a 5 year old and weren't a Mario whizz yourself or hadn't got an older child, then this part might prove a problem! We still have a lot of worlds to unlock but hopefully this will keep them both occupied for quite a while!The best part of it is that you can connect to another DS so they both can play. Lots of laughter and giggles with this!Will probaby buy Mario Kart next!

I used to play Mario Bros. on the NES/SNES. This game uses the sound effects, music, gameplay and characters I remember - but with fab graphics and well thought out levels.This is very addictive, you can blast through it easily enough, OR you can take your time to collect everything you can - which is far trickier!I've not played the multiplayer games yet, but I'm still giving this 5 stars! This is why - the minigames!If the main game was not on this cartridge, it will still be worth buying for the numerous minigames you can choose to play!Overall this is a bright, addictive, and varied game with lots to appeal to almost everyone.

This game is for all ages. You have to accomplish the course in a set amount of time and collect as many coins along the way as possible. You must also watch out for any enemies, like mushrooms and turtles. It has loads of levels and you can save or delete them as you wish. You can redo the level if you want another try and if you "die" during the course of the game and you have passed half the course, it automatically puts you back to the middle of the course.A FABULOUS GAME FOR THE ENTIRE FAMILY- A TOTAL MUST HAVE FOR ANY NINENTENDO DS OWNER!

I had been wanting this game for ages!!! (New super Mario bros) Is my favourite Mario nitendo ds game ever, all my friends have this game too and we find it really fun conecting and playing multi player together. I saved up for this game and I found the price a whole lot cheaper than in most shops!!! I am really pleased with the quality of the game and Im sure i will have many happy years playing with it. I am really, really, really happy with the product and glad I bought it! I would recamend this product to everyone!!! :D

This is some of the best level design in a 2D Mario game. levels are fun and give you s challenge but not too hard. Also there are TONS of secret exits and ither hidden things. Furthermore, there are star coins hidden in the levels which u can spend on unlocking more levels and shops. In addition, their is a really fun 2 player mode where you have to try to get the stars before your opponent. And their are fun minigames which are up to 4 player. THIS GAME IS AWESOME. in my opinion its the best 2D mario game

We bought this in time for going on holiday. Flying abroad and so on you need something for the little ones. My daughter is 5 and absolutely loves this game. She hardly ever plays her other ones now and I've had to get quite strict on her game time because she would happily play it morning til night. She can get quite frustrated so hopefully it doesn't lead to anger problems hahaha but seriously, well worth the money.

I bought this for my 8 year old son and the whole family loves it! I played Super Mario when it first came out on the NES and it's lovely to see a game which has everything about the original games included, with a sprinkling of new features. The difficulty is well judged, starting easy and then ramping up as you progress. My son can play the earlier levels but struggles on the later levels so we play together.

Really glad i bought this game, very addictive and fun to play. I do get quite frustrated when I loose all my lives but it just keeps me wanted to do better. The maps or levels in the game are soo different and interesting that it made me more determined to carry on and see what's next. I would definately recommend this game if you don't mind getting addicted to it or if you dont mind people wanting a go.

My 6 year old bought this with his pocket money and it was a very good price, much cheaper than any other supplier. He loves the game (he was already familiar with it from having the wii game) and it is difficult to get him off it. His older sister (9 yrs) also loves it - so much so that it often causes arguements! All in all, well worth the money.

I bought this game without instructions but I found instructions on-line. It starts of easy but soon gets a lot harder. Played on it for hours but I got stuck on the last world and put it down. The minigames are ok but 2 player mode is better. Would definatly recommend, second hand works just as well only instructions and game box missing.

this is indeed the best game. always entertaining. my 5 year old son cant keep his eyes off this game. he loves and loves this game so so much. The game plays very well, no scratches at all. I also get entangled in the game cos its so interesting and entertaining. thanks to the seller for prompt delivery and clear cartridge.

A great game with lots of fun and exciting challenges. Both my 8 year old and 5 year old enjoy playing this game and don't get bored of it quickly as with some other games. It teaches them how to deal with the frustration of loosing and how to keep on practising until they get it right and achieve their goal in the game.

I remember playing this game and teaching my son and nieces and nephews to play it,when they were young,they are parents now,and I am a nan,it is still the best game ever!!I have bought three for my granddaughter and great nephews,it is a classic,they all love it as we all did,great price,highly recommend to everyone!
