I think this is a great game that all the family will love and enjoy, especally if you love artistic creation, or have the original game (ScribbleNauts).Overall I give Super ScribbleNauts 4/5 because there are a couple of things that I was expecting to be better...One: Not all the words that you put in are recognised, eg, rugby or two-headed.Two: The new levels are not as good as the old ones - they somehow don't look as good, plus they are easier.Although some of the game is bad, most of it is good, so here are some of the good bits...One: You can create nearly anything you want, eg, a magical, fast, flying, light blue, funny, clever, happy Chinese Dragon! Two: You can (as in the first game, but better) make your own level. It's better because you can make terrain (soft or hard), water, lava, plus you can also create buildings and add people.Three: In your notepad where you create objects, people, buildings and vehicles, there are a few new features, eg, "Book" where you can look at the words that you've written before, and adjectives too.Altogether there are plenty of really good features. So if I were you, I'd get it! If you do get it - enjoy! Although beware, as yet I have been unable to get an online connection through either the Nintendo USB Connector or through my otherwise perfectly working home Wi-Fi router. For more information there's a description, booklet index and more below, if you scroll down to read further.Hope my review helped.TheGameMaster.* Description: The most innovative award-winning puzzle adventure game for all ages... I wasn't sure about the concept of this game before I ordered it - I mean how would "Think it. Write it. Solve it." really work in practice? Would it really be possible? Well, in short, yes! The game is basically made up of 10 'levels' and 2 bonus levels which are a bit different in style. Each level has a series of different scenarios which you have to solve. There is no continuous story so each scenario is like a separate mini game. You will be shown a visual problem, for example: "Help the man safely jump off the cliff" - the man is already in a flight suit so the obvious answer would be to write 'parachute' (I also tried 'wings' which worked quite nicely) - the item will appear on screen, you give it to the man and he makes the jump. If you create something irrelevant (e.g. cake), you will get points for creating a new word but it won't help you solve the puzzle. The great thing about this game is that there is always more than just ONE way of solving every puzzle so you can really get creative! Even silly ideas work sometimes and that's the fun of it!The puzzles vary in difficulty - yes they get harder as you progress through the levels but there are some quite difficult scenarios littered in early levels too. You can get up to 3 hints for each problem and this does help if you get stuck. There are also games which specifically ask for adjectives so it isn't enough to just type 'giant' for example, but 'hairy giant.' It's the kind of game that gets you thinking of creative solutions to logical problems. It's fun for older kids and will help with vocabulary-building and spelling (as well as logical & creative thinking). Adults may find some of the puzzles a bit easy but honestly I don't mind the easy ones at all because it's so much fun - you can replay levels too and create different solutions each time so you're forced to move away from the obvious answers and get more entertaining results! Once you've got the hang of the game, you can even have a go at creating your own levels - something that opens up a whole new dimension to creative invention!I've been telling everyone about the game since I got it - if you've got a DS, this game is a definite must! I've found there's an earlier Scribblenauts game too

I've never played the first Scribblenauts, so I can't compare the two, but I can certainly give you an idea of how great this one is.Unlike most games, Scribblenauts doesn't follow an actual storyline, well, not really, instead you are given little missions to complete, some of which can be completed in more ways then one. Put off? Don't be.You face these mission with the most ferocious weapon of them all . . . your pencil and notepad! You play a character called Maxwell in this game who has the power to create anything with his paper and pen. And I really mean anything. By tapping the pencil and pad icon in the corner of the screen you bring up the "writing screen". Here, you can type whatever you want,"cat", "bus", "moon", whatever you can think of.But it's not just nouns. You can add adjectives to your words to make super imaginative things, like a speedy, large, yellow, hairy, angrey, fire-breathing tortoise. So your aim is complete the tasks given to you by using your imaginative ideas. Or if you don't feel like helping the knight cross the shark invested waters or dress yourself up correctly for the fashion show, you can hang out in the Playground, where you can do whatever you please. An anarchy game or what? What you make you can also interact with. For instance, giving yourself a jetpack will let you fly, or you can fire a gun you've just created, or if you're being attacked by an angrey lion, make an animal tamer to calm them down. It's quite ammusing watching your creations wander about the world. You can get awards for doing certain things, like making the largest possible thing or using the "Super Scribblenauts Super Adjective" (still can't work out what that is). You can even make your own levels to play. Believe me, this game has no limit.I could be here forever explaining what you can do in this game, so I'll finish off with this: Don't hestitate if you're intrested in this game, it's great fun for all ages. Do be aware, however, that of course a basic spelling ability is neccassary, so keep this in mind when buying for younger children. So if you like games where there is no saying what you can and can't do - buy this! It's worth every penny and all the fun it gives.

Being a massive fan of the original Scribblenauts, this was always going to be a guaranteed purchase for me (mainly because you can pick it up dirt cheap almost anywhere). I wholeheartedly recommend this game for anyone with a DS, DSLite, DSi, DSiXL, 3DS, 3DSXL or the future 3DSiSPXL.Can't really think of what else to say on this one to be honest - basically it's a cracking game, essentially similar to Scibblenauts, but with the rubbish stylus control method gone, all the awkward impossible "action" levels scrapped and replaced with a much cleaner, well presented hub. Plus, you can now use adjectives to alter your creations! So instead of a dragon, you can have a giant pink hungry zombie dragon. In the words of a well-known toy manufacturer - "Oh, the possibilities!"It's probably the only DS game I have totally rinsed so that there is literally no further unlockables, every level is completed with a gold star and I have a ridiculous amount of obsolete starites (the in-game currency) with nothing left to purchase! If you haven't played the original, buy this game on the cheap, see how amazing it is when you can conjure up any item you can think of and laugh your head off when you're riding a flying giant friendly purple lion and busting caps in asses of scared tiny dying puppies. I'm a b******, I really am.Oh, and if you have played the original then you will absolutely love this - every improvement you wanted, and more.

I got my 10 yr daughter her first DS - a 3DS - for Christmas. I bought her Lets draw and the 3D Nintendogs & cats ...(I know you shouldn't look - together I paid £25 more than they are currently for sale!) -and a few preowned games (My Sims, My Sims animals -she likes my Sims animals africa on the Wii).On the discount day (Black friday?) this popped up at £6.99 - cheaper than preowned with good reviews and so I bought it as an 'extra'....and I am so glad I did!It is far and away her favourite....The first game she played was Nintendogs - for about 30 mins - and then Lets draw for another 30 mins - same for My Sims animals - she said all 3 were boring...then she played with My Sims which sheliked....and finally out of boredom she tried Superscribblenauts...and now I am struggling to drag her away from it ...She is good at English and enjoys reading anyway...but the thing she loves most is the craziness of it -(I'm riding on a rainbow coloured monkey - now with wings -so it can fly ....) - if it is educational she doesn't realise it!Maybe if I hadn't got it she would have been forced to play the other games more ..but at less than the price of preowned games it is an absolute bargain...

We bought this as a little stocking gift for my 7 year old son this Christmas on the basis of the excellent reviews and the fact that my son likes computer games but really doesn't like schoolwork. To be honest I wasn't even expecting it to be touched for several weeks due to the large "Think it, WRITE it, Solve it" on the front of the box. But ... he has spent an hour on it this evening and had to be prised off it for his bedtime story (which he normally is racing to). We have heard nothing from him but little giggles, oohs and ahhs, or the occasional "Mum what's another word for ...?" or "How do you spell ...?" .My only concern has been the 12 rating on it and the fact that the majority of the words he's asking about are violent (explosives, weapons etc..) but the little characters look so cute that I'm not sure the violence is that serious (but he has just started playing). When I asked him he said he loves it with the biggest, happiest grin.Okay it's only one hour of gameplay so far, but honestly it's the best fiver we've spent on him this Christmas!

We took this game on holiday and it occupied my child on the journey and on-and-off throughout the holiday. I played along a few times and it's a challenge at first until you get the gist of the game. Some of the puzzles were a challenge and there's a bit of lateral thinking involved here. Once you get the hang of it, it gets a bit addictive. In the end, the whole family was involved. There is a good choice of themes (from cowboys & indians, pirates, astronauts, dinosaurs, princesses, eskimos, sports and all manner of animals - some, of which, were very appealing), so most players will find something to interest them. My child (10) has dyslexia, and this game has a kind of spell-checker that provides options (& some very brief explanations of some words) so the player can choose the correct word. Dyslexia is no barrier to enjoying this game and it is suitable for some younger children as well if you play along with them. Highly recommended.

Super Scribblenauts is an updated version of Scribblenauts. The basic idea is that you solve increasingly complex puzzles by writing what you need to help you. It could be as simple as a way to reach a platform high above your head (think fairy wings, a jet pack or even a teleporter) or as challenging as creating a creature that has the characteristics of 4 other creatures in boxes around it (think giant, metallic, furry mouse). Although the dictionary is very Americanised, there is still a lot you can do as an English user. There were a few things it doesn't seem to recognise (exhaust being one that frustrated me greatly!) but if you are creative enough you can find ways around it.It didn't take me long to complete and the replay value is limited - if you've completed it once, you know what's coming and the novelty has gone. That said, it is still an enjoyable and original game.

I bought this for my 8 year old daughter, and it's a complete hit! She gets really absorbed in trying to solve the clues, and it often becomes a family affair trying to think laterally about things like opposing adjectives (ugly/cute) and lots of different words for "monster". It really gets the brain working, but you soon get the reward in the form of earning a starite. This then releases another bit of the game to play.My daughter says that once you get started it gets harder as you go along - great for keeping the interest. She's also got to think about her letter formation as one way of inputting your words is by using the stylus to write them - if you're not careful you end up with some very odd words, and need to correct the spelling.Great value for money. Hours of interest. I'd definitely buy it knowing what I know now.

We've had Super Scribblenauts for about 2 months now: both my kids girl (8) and boy (11) love it. Positives: I like it as it is word based rather than platform or shoot em up. The kids like the verbal challenge and the fact that you can bypass a level if stuck. You can choose your own Maxwell avatar. You can also play on 2 strands - single response or if you like a challenge a triple response to a question, which makes the game last longer. If you get fed up with a level you can always decide to play creatively just to see what will happen rather than to solve the puzzle. Negatives: watch out for American vocabulary eg sidewalk rather than pavement.Personally I find the adjective levels extremely bizarre (that's coming from an English teacher) but hey, you can always get a yeti to eat everyone, then try another level!

Super Scribblenauts is a very fun game.It allows you to write (as you probably know anyway) ANYTHING!Myself being an owner of the first game, Scribblenauts, am delighted to see the newly added adjectives. They add so much more depth to the game, because instead of a bathtub, you can now have a Winged Spotted Helpful bathtub. The levels are a little easier than the first, but the beauty is that you can play them over and over using different methods. There are alot more puzzle levels which i personly find alot more fun than the action ones.Plus the 'costom level maker' has been updated so much, that you can basicly create a level just like the designers. All in all a great game, and a good value for your money.I wouldn't be surprized if Super Scribblenauts won an award. Thanks for reading. :)

This game is good fun for all ages and really tests your imagination. The merits along the way challenge you to come up with new adjectives and nouns to get rewards, allowing you to buy new avatar outfits to suit your taste. The only reason Super Scribblenauts didn't achieve 5 stars was because the merit system covers all three profiles so once you achieve something your friend can spend your reward on the avitars they want. There's a pop-up to tell you that you achieved the merit but once you've got it your friend can't achieve it since that aspect is always shared between all three profiles. However, this game will still keep you puzzling on the relationship between Moby Dick and a ghost for days as you try to solve the puzzles using your creative imagination.

Bought this for my son as it looked like an interesting game mechanic. Something that looked totally original and unique. This is a fabulous game and has kept my son entertained for hour upon hour, week upon week. The fact that you can type in words, for example, ‘Winged elephant’, and the game will create an elephant with wings is just absolutely amazing. It obviously can’t create everything but, boy, it has a BIG collection of things it can create! You can use these creations to solve the puzzles to get through the levels and your imagination is the only limit. My son loves this game and regularly laughs out loud with joy and amazement at the things this game will let him create. An absolutelybrilliant game that is recommended to anyone of any age!

I bought this for my daughter a couple of years ago - at 7, she was pretty good at English and I wanted to further that by entending her vocab with a fun game. She loves this game. She immediately became engrossed in it, trying to work out how to complete the level by thinking up possible items to use. However two years on it is still picked up and played. She doesn't play it non-stop (which I think is a good thing) but it has retained her interest. I know there are kids out there that whizz through games and finish them in a matter of weeks and maybe they could with this, however, for me, the appeal of this game is how she needs to think outside the box and continues to do so several years on.Buy it for the budding writer.

I bought this game for my 10 year old son who loves his DS, but is not so keen on literacy. It was a bit of a gamble, because in the past if he has considered a game "educational" this has put him off it from the outset. He has not put this game down and absolutely loves it. He needs to use his imagination, problem solve, spell and think of lots of different synonyms for words (eg 8 different words for monster, or 3 different animals with long necks). All of this will help him with his literacy at school, but he doesn't care! He has started to use a thesaurus for the first time and is constantly asking us how to spell sophisticated adjectives. He is happy and so are we!
