I gave this to my three-year old daughter, who is average ability, and she happily sat with it and got stuck in straight away, pushing me away when I got curious. "No, Daddy, I can do it by myself".And she could. When I finally managed to watch what she was up to, she was able to show me what to do.By contrast, the other DS games that she "plays", her movements are pretty random and she often gets frustrated, asking a grown-up to get it to do what she wants. She can't read: the instructions are read out aloud, along with animated examples of what to do. And selecting something on the screen always gives a lively and clear vocal response. It does not bother my daughter at all when it says "Got It" for OK,in a slightly grating American accent.Full marks to Barnstorm Games for researching what a 3-year-old is capable of, and coming up with something that they can genuinely get to grips with. And for giving clear instructions that you can understand *before* the task.I had a go myself and I would say that the appeal goes way beyond three-years, probably up to teens.Niggles: I agree with the other reviewers 1) It is disappointing that you can only save a few pictures and 2) The response to getting a bronze medal is unduly negative.

This game was purchased for my daughter who is two years old. I have to say that at this age, she is probably just too young, albeit there are games on there that she can play - and so I would not be put off by the minimum age recommendation of 3.Essentially, there is a menu with three options, one where you draw along with the DS (receiving a tutorial as you do), one where you can draw what you want, and one where you can play games. The first two options are where I think my daughter will need to be a little older to get full benefit. However, there are some games within the third option which she can use now. For example, there is a balloon popping game, ideal for hand eye coordination, and a great deal of fun. There is also a "mirror cleaning" game where you have to clean a mucky window using the stylus, and the best bit is that any drawings you have made in options 1 and 2, and on the mirror. My daughter has had the game only for a few weeks...but it keeps her entertained for hrs. Highly recommended.

I bought this game for my 4.5 year old son. He has recently started school and is struggling with his fine motor skills needed for writing, so I thought this would be a fun way of helping him. The tutorials are very easy to follow as the instructions are spoken and in short bursts. He loves the animation section, particularly when you can add sound effects like car horns and sirens. The mini games section has also proved a big hit, especially the car race and airhockey ones. Players get a medal if their performance is good enough, which is a great motivator. However, I had initially hoped that my son could play this on our 3DS, as most old DS games can be used with it, but it did not work properly. It didn't recognise the stylus well and caused the 3DS to crash (the remedy for which is to remove the memory card btw.). Fortunately, we also have my old DS lite and the games works perfectly on that. IF YOU ONLY HAVE A 3DS DON'T BOTHER. Otherwise, it's great.

I am not a fan of computer games at all, but am really pleased with this game. This has games to develop hand/eye coordination as well as fine motor skills for drawing - so entertaining, educational and confidence building. My 3 yr old can use it and my 7yr old has become much more confident at drawing with it. Down side for my 3 year old, each time you open it you have to choose the language option from 3 choices, as she can't read yet, she has got stuck on the wrong language once or twice. The down side for my 7 yr old is that a) you can't print off your pictures (at least I haven't discovered how) and b) because my 3yr old can't read, she has erased all my 7yr olds pictures from the memory without realising it; which you can do really easily (especially when it is playing in another language)! I would recommend it for sure

I bought this for my 5 year old who was jealous of my own art teaching game. i have found there is a gap in the market for interesting non-repetitive games for more able youngsters but this one was pleasantly surprising. It teaches the basic shapes needed to make up simple and more complex drawings in an easy to follow but not patronising step-by-step manner. It has an added bonus of some casual games, though these have not been much used. My offspring has even transferred the drawing skills learned in the game onto pencil and paper and just loves hanging her creations on the fridge! Only criticism is that it does not use incentives to encourage continued/more advanced play, all the content can be accessed from the outset.

Another christmas gift bought for my three youngest grand-daughters.This item was very had to find on the internet but luckily I found it on Amazon - other sites were expoiting the price as it has been much sought after but Amazon offered it as a reasonable price. All three of my youngest grand-daughers enjoyed using it (ages 9yrs and twins 6yrs)and did not want to put it down.Very easy to use and kept them drawing for hours.Ordering, delivery were very quick (even though the bad weather had hampered thousands of deliveries in the UK) but Amazon managed to get it to me before Christmas Eve, and I thought the price was very reasonable considering this game was hard to purchase everywhereelse.

i bought this game for my daughter for her 6th birthday and she absolutely loves it. It seems to be just the right level for her and she has spent a lot of quiet minutes playing with it. She especially likes the way her drawings get transformed into a small animation. If any criticism I would say that it is sometimes difficult to draw detail on the DS pad with the stylus but that is not a fault really of the game. If you have a young child who enjoys drawing and colouring, go for this. It is a very reasonably priced game with lots of interesting features. My daughter enjoys colouring in herself on here, rather than just clicking on an area and having the computer fill in the space.

Intuitive to use, needing very little input from a grown-up. The drawing instructions are verbal, meaning a child can get on with it themselves rather than needing a grown up to constantly read out the instructions. The resulting animation of your child's drawing is a little primitive to an adult eye, but suitably amazing to a young child. The only drawback is that you can only save a limited number of drawings and these are lost once you take the game card out of the DSi. But overall a good game and definitely worth giving to a child just before a long journey or other 'boring' event; it will keep them occupied for an hour or two on 1st play.

I bought this for my 4 year old son and he absolutely loves it!! It is easy for children to follow without much assistance from an adult with voice instructions as well as written. I love the fact that when drawing it gives you detailed small step by step demonstrations on the top screen to follow which only move on to the next when you are ready and there are a huge amount of of fun pictures to choose and draw and colour in and even animate after you have finished. Then on top of that there are fun and simple games to play. I give this game 10 out of 10 and would highly reccommend for any teeny budding artists out there :)

Bought for 6 year old son who loves to draw. Thought it might be too young for him but he has played on this more than any other game.Lots of inbuilt games where your child's own drawings become the characters of game play. He particularly loves this element.Lots of drawing lessons so they can learn to draw and copy a variety of illustrations. It's great when your child's own drawings become animated.Only negative is that there isn't a lot of saving space so you can only save either 8 or 12 drawings (can't remember which) vthen you need it overwrite them. This is disappointing when your child wants to keep drawing.

I needed a simple yet fun game to present my child with on a long haul flight.something that would not frustrate him to learn or to have to unblock passage ways, gains coins etc as most of his DS games are like this. I wanted something fun and straight forward. This was perfect! It was easy for him to use, but for a younger age group its a great way to learn and have fun. Fun mini games, your drawings once complete become animated and a sketchpad area to do what you like with. For ages group 3/4 upwards its perfect and will have some longevity..for age 6 1/2 it provided a giggle and did the job i need it to.

Purchased for my 7 year old, they loved it as soon as they put it into their DSi. Started to draw as soon as, then used their drawing to create moving images. The tutorials teaching different drawing skills are easy, straight forward and fun to do (for all ages) yes even I enjoyed at my age (not telling !!!!!). There are also built in games which were good to play. On the whole this is a very good product at a good price. Delivery, as always was prompt with no problems. Would recommed this game for children under 10, although I am sure some older children would also enjoy.

My daughter really enjoyed this ds game. I think it is really useful if you want to develop your child's dexterity, because it helps develop the muscles of the fingers. The games are quite nice too. I was quite surprise to know that this is not purely a drawing game but the game contains other games and challenges as well. The game also contains animation, which is really really cool, even my partner couldn't help but to make her own drawing and watch the drawing come to life. Amazing. So overall this is a good purchase and will definitely recommend it.

I wanted a new game for my 4yr old daughter and she loves drawing and colouring in. This is perfect for when we go on long journeys in the car and plane. She was able to pick up what she needed to do straight away. no difficult instructions or long intro's. It has various selections on such as free stle drawing, games and also learn to draw where you select a catergory and it goes through how to draw step by step and you follow it. Enjoyable for adults too. My 2yr old has even enjoyed have a scribble on it. Would definately recommend.

We haven't had this long but my 6 year old loves it. She loves drawing anyway. It is easy to copy the drawings, they break down the stages. Then you colour them, you can erase bits too as you go. It animates them and you can moves them, sometimes they only move a tiny bit but it does add a bit to the process. There are quite a few things to learn to draw on here. Not that many games and the games are easy and short but fun. Only problem is you can't store enough drawings. It would be nice to store them all.
